Being a fan of living history, I was thrilled to live near the fort founded by Daniel Boone. It was one of our first explorations when we moved to KY.The buildings are fun to explore, and the people portraying life are interesting to talk to. The video in the first building, though obviously old, is fun to watch and learn about Daniel Boone. At the original fort, which is just a stone foundation, my kids would spend hours playing. The playground, though fun, was not the main attraction.Whether you want to picnic and play, or get immersed in history, Fort Boonesborough is a great place to go.

We had a great time.. I would have given more stars but they are not pet friendly.. If you are traveling with pets and its a warm day.. you cant just leave your pets in the car..its shame they dont allow pets.. As pet owners, we clean up after our pets better than most adults clean up after themselves or kids..

Always clean and neat. Restrooms are kept very clean and well stocked. In our recent visit, neither hand air dryers worked. When told, the office sent out workers to replace them. Halloween is their big event/holiday. People reserve spots a year in advance come and compete for best decorated site. Coupled with a fine car show (2nd weekend of month) it is a great time to visit. Staff is always helpful and friendly. Great state park.

Gave it a 4, simply because its an older campground but well kept. Good place for children with a playground, a creek and lots of grass. Dog friendly but no dog park. Many sites get muddy if there is a lot of rain. Make sure you check the length of the site because most are very short but you can park your tow vehicle on the grass.

I would have given a higher rating if so many of the buildings had not been closed. Also, the man at the candle cabin said, just trying to wake up from reading a book. Not making any candles today, too much trouble! I guess reading on his phone is more fun.

Really cool, they had really knowledgeable people working who were able to articulate how it was to live and survive on the frontier in the late 1700s. Definitely a piece of American history worth seeing if your ever in kentucky.

The back of the campground near site 60 was under a major road and against a gravel production site that was very noisy and left dust everywhere. It was fine for our overnight stay, and the front of the campground would probably be more quiet. The facilities were nice and the grounds were well kept.

An
Review №18

This review is in relation to the campground only. My wife and I recently stayed a single night (site 60)Facilities were nice and staff was friendly. Plenty of outdoor activities at the campground such as playground and basketball courts. Reason for low review is based solely on location. Close proximity to a major highway and an active gravel pit made for a very loud night. Would probably be better if staying on the other side of the park, but where we were was very loud all night long due to highway noise and heavy industrial equipment operating all night in the background.

Mixed feelings. Very friendly staff and campers, but didnt know about the pollution on the Kentucky River until reading about why the beach house was closed and now derelict. Restrooms were okay, ran out of soap early Saturday, still not filled by late Sunday morning. Very crowded in early November, plan ahead if youre going.

The park is pretty and quite clean. Bathrooms are well maintained. Lots of trees and a well-enforced quiet time (11:00). We tent camped here and there is no shortage of shade. Biggest drawback is the proximity to a major road and a cement factory so it is quite noisy. We would perhaps visit again but would seek a site further away from the noise.

Boonesborough has been one of our favorite places for 20 years. However, every trip this year we have had obnoxious neighbors blasting radios or TVs outdoors. This week we are behind a very large group who have explicit music turned up incredibly loud that is extremely inappropriate for the trick or treaters. They are talking over each other loudly due to talking over the music and drinking heavily only making them more obnoxious. After politely saying something to the group, the noise levels have significantly elevated and we continue to watch the park police drive around and do nothing. It is quite frustrating having security that allows the behavior. I understand 11 is quiet time but this behavior should not be allowed anytime of day. This party should have been held at a family home.

What a nice, beautiful park. The park was very clean, well maintained and great for history enthusiasts. The fort was sho grand from the outside, however the inside was closed for the season.(bummer) But we will definitely be back to check it out during operating hours. The park was about 5 miles off 75 south and was do easy and convenient to find. There was a pool, that was also closed for the season. The dam was small but very interesting to see up close. There was a nice play area for children, and lots of area to run and play.

I’m not sure this is considered “camping” though. I’ve never seen a campground so crowded, they really pack them in there. Was given a spot, tried it, and the next trailer and picnic table was only 5.5 feet away. Not a lot of trees either. It must just be city people that come here to “rough it”.We went back to get a refund and leave as we have never seen anything like it, but of course no refunds. They got 2 stars instead of one because they let us camp in the Empty field next door to get away from the noise and crowds. Honestly, not a good spot if you really want to camp, unwind, and get to nature. Very disappointed, but pleasant staff.

Very peaceful, quiet, and spectacular scenery. Theres lots to do! Fishing, swimming, playground, canoe and kayak rentals, and grills for cooking at shelters. Theres a small putput golf course also. They also have multiple water pumps. Lots of exploring to do. Theres access to the beach, but Im not certain if its open. They have a small store but I recommend you take everything you need with you, it is slightly over priced, vacation spots normally are(duh). They have an rv park with hookups and a campground. My pictures are from the park. Both my grandchildren liked the park. My grandson was more impressed with the actual fort. There wasnt many people on hand that day. It was so hot. Most of the people were friendly except for the lady by the garden. My grandchildren were trying to talk to her and I asked a question and she was just kinda rude with her answers. We didnt let her ruin our day though. We didnt get there in time to really take our time. We rushed through everything. We will definitely go back.

This park is neat. I felt like I was walking around in a village in The Witcher, which is awesome. Even our toddler had fun walking around and looking into all of the different houses. If you’re interested in history and are a fan of Daniel Boone, then you will want to stop here! On a side note: If you can avoid bringing a stroller, do so. It’s very hard to maneuver in and out of the cabins, and the terrain is a bit rough if you don’t have a jogger.
