Best escape rooms in Richmond. I have done all of their rooms now and have really enjoyed them all, with Dr. Ensaine probably being my favorite. Staff is always friendly and encouraging, the rooms flow very nicely, not disjointed and especially frustrating like others I have been in. I highly recommend this place.

BEST ESCAPE ROOMS, hands down, ESPECIALLY for the price!! For only $25 we got to solve the best escape rooms Ive ever been in. Dr. Ensaine was a brilliant combination of many types of puzzles, although I dont recommend it for children. Sean Song is brand new and incredibly difficult (out of 20+ groups, only 1 has solved it so far!). All of them are well-themed and fun. Definitely give this one a try!

About 6 of us did Family Secrets. Quite a fun challenge. I think this was suppose to be the easier one, but we still needed to use two hints ( each time shaking our heads since the next step was so obvious after the hint). Started out in handcuffs and ended up getting out. Great feeling. Our guide was so nice and prepared us well. Great experience.

Amazing experience as a first timer. Samantha was our room master and can’t say good enough things about her, she was patient, helpful and made our experience delightful. We did the family secret room and even though we didn’t get out on time we still enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back!

I took my 9 year old grandson with me. Neither of us had ever done an escape room. The person working was named Sam. She was so nice, and explained everything so well. We loved her. We had a lot of fun. Will definitely be back.

My daughter (23 yo), wife, and I stopped by on our way to the beach and played Rock Star. It was fun, challenging, and immersive. Samantha was our game master and she was hands down one of the very best we’ve ever had running a game of ours, anywhere!We own an escape room as well and can tell you that Room Escape USA is well worth a visit. Great experience. The room was great, very well done and very challenging. More importantly the staff was fantastic! We brought our volleyball team (ten 13-14 year old girls) and we initially reserved a room that, upon closer inspection, wouldn’t be appropriate for our girls. The staff worked with us and allowed us to change rooms. To make matters even more challenging, one of our girls was concerned that the second room would be too scary. They were very understanding and compassionate, explaining what to expect, even giving us a peek into the room. I would highly recommend this location and this staff. They were great!

I went for my birthday and me and my boyfriend was the last ones of the night. We had so much fun and all of the staff was nice and helpful. We are big fans of escape rooms and this location made us want to come back.

We had so much fun at this Escape Room! I went with a group of 5 and we did the Grandpa Earl themed room. It was challenging but possible (and we did escape!). The only things keeping this from being a 5-star review are that it took a long time for anyone to pay attention to us when we showed up, and then that there was something the owners didn’t notice about one of their clues that misled us in a way that they had not intended (hard to be specific enough to be helpful and vague enough so I don’t give anything away!). Love the free popcorn and games in the waiting area. We would definitely come back to try another room!

Decided this would be great for a Xmas family activity. We picked Dr Ensane and had a fun time working through the puzzles, but as someone else noted, not a good choice for young kids. Fantastic staff, highly recommend trying them out.

First time doing an escape room, and now Im hooked ! Family Secrets is an intense experience because of how it starts out - youre bond and cuffed together so the stakes feel legitimately high. The pattern of clue solving is progressive, meaning they become more difficult/ cerebral as you solve each riddle. The owners/managers ? were both men and very friendly / helpful. You will not be disappointed by this challenge no matter how experienced you are at escape rooms and puzzles . Highly recommended !

So I really enjoyed dr ensaine but I didn’t like Swan song or family secrets. But this is partly my fault for trying with only two people. I would give it 3 stars due to my personal experience but I’ve reconsidered as I acknowledge that my experience was a result of being with only two people. During family secrets we were handcuffed far away from each other and had to use our mouth to get something undone due to how we we handcuffed. Which was gross. I went to two of the rooms with just me and my girlfriend as mentioned before which truly affected the experience as I was unaware that the rooms are designed to be solvable as a couple. I don’t suggest doing it with only two people. I specifically asked if Swan song was a good room for two people and was told that it was fine for two and was very possible to escape. After we finished and were frustrated with the room the guy told us that the designed this room more for team building due to its divide and conquer style which makes it hard with only two people. This lack of transparency is why I wanted to give less stars but I reconsidered as I truly believe they have something good going for them. Good stories and unique rooms. Dr. Ensaine is something I haven’t seen before and so is the musician theme room called Swan song. The kidnapped them family secrets had a vibe and feel of other kidnapped rooms but I think it was done better than last second escape and breakout’s rooms which also had a kidnapped theme or story line. The set and over all design was better and worked well with the story and looked very well put together. My only true advise for them is to make sure the amount of people advertised for the room actually works and be honest with people asking if the room is a good room for two people. Family secrets and Swan song aren’t good for two people and is likely to leave you frustrated if it’s just u and one other person. Like I left really upset because it was super challenging in a group of only two as you need multiple eyes everywhere to stand a chance. But in other reviews I have criticized them for not having enough to do in a room. In a big group this room would be great and so would Swan song. I am a musician and when he ran through the rest of the clues we didn’t finish I was amazed at the thought and detail. But I will say Swan song would be hard for a group with no musical background and I believe rooms shouldn’t require special knowledge to complete and even as a musician one musical clue was a bit challenging for me. Had I known the room was designed more for bigger groups I would have waited until other people were signed up. But I have to say I think I would have loved it if we had more people and could have got more done. They are challenging rooms which I super appreciate. You spend a good amount of money doing these and frustrated isn’t how I want to feel so my advise to anyone trying any escape room is to make sure if you go with only two people to verify that it’s a good room to try with two people. So I want to highlight the positives of this place. They do have good set designs and puzzles. The rooms flow and the set matches the story line well. This is not my number one favorite place but it does have one of my all time favorite rooms and Dr. Ensaine is the reason I fell in love with escape rooms. Just remember when booking or planning to go that it’s not a good place to go as a couple you need a bigger group so if you go please have friends go or book a room that has others signed up. Dr. Ensaine is still one of my favorite escape rooms I have ever done and probably will always be a favorite. I definitely will be back and try their new location cause they have solid rooms. I just don’t want to go back as a couple so it could take time as I don’t actually have a lot of family or friends who truly love escape rooms like me and my fiancé. I will make sure to have a group of four or more when I can get people together even if it means waiting cause I do believe this place is great at what they do.

As big fans of escape rooms with at least a dozen under our belt, my fiance and I were very impressed with Room Escape USA and the Dr. Ensaine room. The atmosphere and puzzles were top-notch, and we had a blast trying to escape. We needed a few hints, but we made it out just in time with just the two of us. We will definitely be back for their other room!

My girlfriend and I did the Dr. Ensaine room. It was phenomenal and very well thought out. One of the owners was there, and he was extremely helpful and passionate about his business. I definitely recommend visiting!

A group of 6 of us went to the Family Secrets escape room a few weeks ago and had an amazing time! Although the escape room doesnt look like much from the outside, the puzzles are extremely fair and well-designed, and our group had a blast and couldnt stop talking about it afterwards. Highly recommended and we definitely hope to return some day!

This is by far THE best escape room in the RVA . If you havent been there, you need to go. The staff are friendly and very helpful. The lobby area is well thought out and decorated great. The entire place has an overall awesome atmosphere. It is a great place for friends and family to enjoy a night out to have some fun. I highly recommend it!

We had a great time. The atmosphere to the room was perfect which added an extra feeling to the game. The puzzles were difficult but clear cut and do-able with enough thought. Its a newer place and only has two rooms but, I would definitely recommend trying them out!

Had a hard time finding this place at night. However this is one of the better Escape Rooms I have visited. The staff was great on making sure we understood everything. We started off handcuffed but made our way out and into another room which we solved just in the knick of time! The clues were good, not too easy and not too hard. I plan on going back for another adventure soon!

The owner is very friendly and talked with us for a while after we finished Dr. Ensaine. It is clear that hes interested in Escape Rooms and isnt just in it for the business aspect. Ive been to 5 other Escape Rooms (2 in the US and 3 abroad) and this is the best one Ive been to in the US. The clues match the theme and dont require special skills/knowledge prior to entering the room. The room was challenging enough to be fun, but also followed a logical pattern.

We took the night and went through both rooms. They are seriously such a fun time! The rooms and puzzles are very interactive and make you work well as a team. They are challenging but entertaining!! Each room has its own unique feel making it a totally different experience than the first. I cannot wait for more rooms to open so I can do this again at this facility!!

We were a group of 9 adults who did the Family Secrets room in celebration of a friends birthday. For the majority of us, this was our first escape room experience as only two of the nine people had done one before. We had a really great time! We all thought it was REALLY creative, challenging, and fun!! The owners did a good job explaining the game without giving too much away and were very nice! Everyone had such a good time and those who had done an escape room before said they really liked and preferred this one over the other one they did-- siting the detail and creativity as being what did it. We highly recommend it! I want to go back and do the Dr. Ensaine room now!

Absolutely loved it! There were only two of us (which apparently made it more challenging) but it was fun either way. First time going but definitely not our last. Brandon (the staff member on site) was personable, helpful and definitely set the tone for what we were getting ourselves into!!

This was the most fun Ive ever had at an escape room! The facility was clean and well kept, the staff was extremely accommodating and friendly, and the room was very challenging, but not unreasonably difficult to figure out. We will definitely be going back here.

This is the 3rd local escape room we have done and I cannot say how much we LOVED this place! When they first opened we took a turn at their first room and as soon as their 2nd room opened we were there.The rooms are a great story line and are packed full of puzzles and brain teasers. Not only do they have great room set ups but they make your wait time prior to starting one to be comfortable and fun. Their waiting room has a dart board as well as corn hole. Im already looking forward to the next room they make!

Excellent escape rooms!Family secrets offers some unique limitations to challenge veteran escapers as well as some traditional puzzles. A straightforward room with a satisfying ending.Dr Ensaine features interesting puzzles a a surprise twist. A bit on the horror side, but lots of fun.Swan song places you in an immersive environment and uses some more high tech elements along with traditional puzzles and locks. Lots of puzzles and a very challenging experience.

Dr. Ensaine is quite crazy. And the puzzles are more than two amateurs can handle in an hour. If you are new to puzzles, then youll need a few friends to help. Frightfully fun, this live-action Mist-like interactive game will give you a good hour of entertainment.
