Excellent escape room!! Several room choices, difficulty levels and very friendly staff. Clean, organized and spacious rooms

We completed the Dragons Keep. The room design and props were fantastic (the dragon eggs were my personal favorite). Although the room was heavy with padlocks, the puzzles to solve the combinations varied greatly and were very clever with enough hidden trap doors and magnet locks to keep us on our toes. Multiple puzzles can be solved simultaneously, supporting larger groups although it was just the two of us. We had to use two hints, both of which were due to operaror error, rather than room or puzzle design. The game master helped make for an enjoyable event, knowing where we were in the puzzles at all points in time. We loved the notion of dancing for your hint. Finally, as a heads up, enjoy a complimentary beverage (water or soft drink) before the game!!

Wow! This was my third attempt at escape rooms and I was absolutely blown away by the quality and creativity of the live puzzles. I’ve finally found a way to get my children off of their electronics and work as team! It literally simulated being a CIA agent with a laser maze and a few other things you’ll have to come experience for yourselves! Absolutely love this escape room! Fantastic customer service from both the employees and the owner. They take great pride and joy in what they do and it really goes to show. Not only has it been a completely memorable experience but weve done escape rooms all over the state and this is definitely one of our favorites! The difficulty is there, the fun is there, the friendliness is there, the drama and feel and surrealism of the game is there. And the owner absolutely puts so much pride in his work and it shows. The puzzles are fantastic and I 11/10 recommend checking this place out! Theres something for everyone in every one of the rooms and you should definitely check them out!

This was my first escape room experience and had a blast! It took us a while to see the pattern of the room- but got a good hint from the attendant and were well on our way. Would definitely recommend for a fun night out!

Wife and I did three rooms here (carnival, dragons keep, and project x) which were decent and the manager was always freindly. Last Saturday, we did the lost seas one and had the worst experience we have ever had with an escape room (have done about 20 in Richmond). There was a canon in the room that didnt work when we put a bullet in and when we asked for help, it took them about 15 minutes to respond. Near the end we got to a point where we needed help and were waiting for 20 minutes until my wife just opened the door to find a staff member since they wouldnt respond to us. The staff member said sorry but they were understaffed so they couldnt help us. We spent 30 minutes in that room just standing there. It was the first room we walked out on. Went to ask for a refund and the worker Jake would not give us one saying they would give us a free one instead but we told them we wanted a refund instead. They refused. They also indicated that there was another group there that has been waiting an hour which we said was not relevant to our situation. We have been trying to contact the manager since then via phone and coming in person but no one picks up the phone and we havent been able to get a hold of him since. If you want to do an escape room, I would recommend gnome and raven or Escape RVA.

The whole dance for a hint thing is funny. I like it quite a bit. However, it only works if the employees are doing their jobs and monitoring whats going on. On three separate occasions during our session, we had to leave our room and physically go get an employee because they werent paying attention to the cameras. It was frustrating and really took us out of the fun.On top of this, we reserved a room with a specific time slot. They didnt get us into our room for more than an hour beyond our intended start time.

We had such a great time in the Wizarding room! It was our first time at this escape room, and we loved all the little details in the room. We danced to get a couple clues, but then we were on our way and finished with plenty of time to spare. It was a great first room and we’ll be back to do the pirate room and see whatever they have in future rooms.

Was great fun for our family of 5, we did the Pirate room and made it out. Highly recommended.

This was my 10th escape room from multiple companies and this one was the worst. The story and decorations were fine, enough. But when we solved the riddles/puzzles the locks were soooo cheap they didnt work even with the right code. The game master had to come in and try and even he needed 4-5 tries and eventually seemed to force them open when they didnt work. We felt cheated out of the end by faulty equipment.

Its fun. This was our 2nd room weve done at this location. We had a little bit of an issue in our room (it hadnt been set up properly), so we ended up having our clock stopped and an employee came in to help get everything straight. We were still able to get out within our original hour, but it still broke a little bit of our flow.

This place is awesome. Went with a birthday party and had a blast. The clues werent impossible, but we had to really work to get everything done. I could really see how much energy the owners had put into the room. The complimentary drinks were a nice touch too. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something unique to get into

My son and I visited this place on a whim after our original plans fell through. We had a BLAST. Staff was great. The room was well thought out and really required some thinking. We made it out with maybe 5 minutes to spare after several hints. Definitely something well do again!

We had SO much fun at this place. I went with my wife and 2 young teen grandkids and we are still talking about how much we enjoyed the experience! I thought it was going to be creepy and dark. No way! It was about problem solving, working together and being creative. Highly highly recommended. We will definitely return. This has given me new ideas for gift giving to my grandkids and their parents!

Great experience, they were very helpful when we were stuck, but when you only have a 60 minute limit, the time penalty compromised our success. But everyone had fun, and it was definitely challenging.

I really like how they set their rooms up for game play. The staff is super friendly. They do allow walks in if rooms are available.

This is a great escape room! Weve done three rooms here, and have had a great time. The best part is that they let you go with random people, which always makes it fun!

Loved This !! I came here a few weeks ago for a girls night, and had so much fun! The staff was fantastic and helpful, and the room was very well put together.Sadly we didnt escape - although we had a blast trying We are hoping to come back this weekend for my birthday to try to redeem ourselves

The staff was very friendly, and I was excited to learn that not many people die in the escape rooms. I hope in the future more dangers will be added, such as plague infested rats that need to be killed, or sleeping gas that slowly fills the chamber and makes us drowsy. The dark carnival was a lot of fun. Free drinks, sponsored by Sprite. Would go again for sure #gve4life

We did Dark Carnival and Haunting on the High Seas. The production value was good but the rooms were very very glitchy, both of them, it was frustrating. Some of the game masters seemed annoyed to be there.

Had a blast at Last Second Escape today! customer service was exceptional. Our host was very friendly and welcoming. The room was made for up to 10, but we attempted with 2. It definitely was a challenge and while we weren’t able to finish in time, the host was very accommodating and gave us extra time to do so. The room was very engaging and the puzzles were challenging in a positive way. We will definitely be back to check out more rooms!

This place is top-notch! The puzzles are challenging. The rooms immerse you in the adventure. The staff is awesome! We even had our game master do a little magic for us before we started. This escape room is pretty good and I have had both negative and positive escapes here. They have good sets. I have done all the local escape rooms and this one has had issues in at three of the rooms I have tried. Now I liked the dungeon theme and the science one. However in the science one we had to wait 50 minutes to start our room. I have tried four rooms. The third was a result of a bad experience at the second room and getting a free experience for taking 50 minutes to start. And that was the dragon room which I actually enjoyed. I will say the night we waited almost an hour really deterred us. It was our second escape their. We liked the first despite tech issues. But We almost left that night while waiting during that 50 minutes but were told we couldnt get our money back. The forth one I was trying again to give this a fair chance as I have already done every other escape room around. Honestly the kidnapped or down under room was a good set up and theme. But our game master that day kept giving hints to clues we already solved but luckily we still got out and the experience had a lot of good moments despite getting frustrated with the hints. Previously I was a bit harsh on my judgement of their rooms. Their sets are actually good and I liked the carnival one which was the first I did. But In the carnival room we had multiple tech issues and asked for someone to help as we even confirmed we had the answer right. This waisted 20 minutes of time and was one of the early puzzles but I loved the uniqueness of this room and believe without the tech issue I actually would have loved this room. The most exciting part of an escape room is the escape. I hope in the future they consider opening rooms that are true escapes. Since Im used to escape rooms you escape I feel underwhelmed at the ending of rooms here. But they do have good sets stories and themes. I think some of their rooms are a little copy cat feeling of other places I have seen. However they do good sets and puzzles. And they have good advertisement videos of the rooms. I will say they have high tech components in rooms and tech always has the ability to malfunction but I had multiple rooms with tech issues so Im not sure if this is normal for them or I got unlucky. They do need to work on the technical components as tech issues really take away from the experience. They can also work on making sure there are enough game masters to focus on the room. A couple times I was given Clues to puzzles I already answered which was frustrating. But I will say that a positive is that there are enough clues and puzZles that in groups everyone has something they can work on. The set always feel true to theme and story of the room and the task and goal for the room is clear. These rooms just arent as exciting or good as raven chase or river city escape but they arent awful and have a lot of great components. At one time I was very unhappy with this place but I have since experienced way worse which has made me think about the positives of this room and also made me realize my past review need re-evaluation. It also made me realize to give credit to rooms that have truly put hard work into their rooms which its clear that they have. Maybe its personal preference but I like true escapes. If they had true escape rooms I think I would like this place a lot more as they have good sets and stories. Basically tech issues, customer service, staying on time and paying attention during the game to better help players and customers are areas to work on. But I believe they have and probably are working on these things and have the potential as they grow to be one of the best in the future

My wife and happened upon this place on our wedding anniversary around 8 pm.. I went in to make sure they were open and the gentleman workin ( later found out it was the owner ) he informed me that it was not too late to sign up and man im glad we did. We had a GREAT time. We did have a technical issue that he helped us with. But other than that it ran smoothly. I sooooo recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Can not wait to go back

The Virus X room was a lot of fun and very creative. It was challenging and we almost beat it in record time. The clues were very helpful and the game masters were very nice. We will definitely go back to try their other rooms. The best one we have been to so far!

One of the better escape room locations in the rva area. some of the puzzles throughout the rooms Ive tried here can be a bit more outlandish and not as logical as puzzles at other locations Ive been to which is why I give it a 4/5 but its still a lot of fun!

I had so much fun! My friends and I went for our bachelorette party, and we did the virus x room. Our awesome host, Joe, was so friendly and knowledgeable. We made it out in 48 minutes! I will definitely be heading back. :)

Came here with a group of co-workers for a team building event and had a blast. Dark Carnival was a ton of fun, great mix of carnival games and critical thinking. The staff was very friendly, I hope we get to come back and play another one sometime soon!

My wife and I played Dragons Keep and had a great time finding our stolen dragon eggs! The game had some fun challenges, although it did rely heavily on combination locks, which I generally dislike. Also there was an issue with colors being important to a puzzle, but the colors on the lock were extremely difficult to see due to wear and dim lighting. In all, the room was fun and provided some satisfying solves.The location itself was awash with black walls, as I imagine as a sort of blank slate. Since the site has seven games, I was a touch disappointed that there were no indicators on the doors or decor to indicate which game was through which door that we passed. Free water and other drinks were offered, and the rules briefing was done via a well produced in-house video, while the mission briefing was done by the Game Master.Overall, if were in Richmond again in the future, we will be sure to try out another room at Last Second!

Played Virus X with my kids 19,11,10. We almost got it but it was so much fun trying. Great place. WE would go back again to redeem ourselves. Staff was very nice.

It was me too. It was my first time ever doing an escape room and I had a good time. We did manage to escape. Im not exactly dying to go back but maybe thats just cuz Im not the best candidate for escape rooms. We did the collapsed mine escape room where you had to defuse a bomb and that was kind of neat. One thing that made me upset though is there was a math problem you had to solve in order to get the combination for something and theres two possible solutions to the math problem. That kind of takes me off because once you get a functional solution and you check your work to make sure that its correct, you dont necessarily think to go back and redo the math problem to get a totally new set of correct answers. Its also a bummer because it would be super easy to fix that by just adding one more condition. Still four stars, still a decent way to spend a afternoon of your weekend. Friendly staff I want this place to succeed.

This was our third time trying an escape room. We got very close, but didnt escape. We tried Mine Shift . The room and props were well done. The puzzles were tricky and we had to use our 3 clues. We will definitely come back again to try one of the other rooms. The employees were very friendly and helpful.

We have been to escape rooms at 3 different companies now and this was our favorite. The staff was awesome and we will 100% be back.

All I can say is WOW! If you are looking to break your routine of the average night out this is the spot for you! My family and I are already planning our next visit! INCREDIBLE! We do lots of rooms but this one was different: not the same old gags and very intricate. I was caught off guard for a minute when I entered the Elves in Action room because it actually felt like a room in someones home; where you would definitely NOT be rifling through the drawers and cabinets! But I recovered and we WON! We will be back to do the rest!

Last Second Escape is a great addition the escape room craze sweeping the RVA. We’ve done several of the rooms and all have been challenging, unique, and most of all, a lot of fun. Definitely check them out!

We did the Project 00 room. It was really hard, but we got out with all of our hints (and then some). Good puzzles, not too linear, all the tricks worked. Will be back.

Ive played many escape rooms in multiple states, so Ive seen a lot of what is out there.I recommend against vising this establishment in its current state.I brought my daughter to play the Dragons Keep room as her first ever ER. I do wish I had gone elsewhere.Most of the things about this place are typical. Sign a waiver, wait for the timeslot to open, get the rules, play the game.Once we started, though, we had a number of issues.Without giving too much away, the immersion was lacking in a number of areas, the tech did not work for us a few times, requiring manual intervention by the games master, and many of the puzzles were not especially logical.It really felt like we were playtesting a new room which needed a few more drafts before public play.The game masters here seem to also run the front desk, so Im not sure if they could keep up with hints on a busy night. And you will need hints.We did not finish, and the game master did go through the rest of the puzzles with us. A number of the tech pieces did not work for him, either.We were asked to leave a good review.Ive chatted with other Escape Room enthusiasts in the area, and it seems that our experience was not unique, either for Dragons Keep or some of the other rooms at this establishment.There are many other choices - I recommend those interested in escape rooms give them a try.

We took on four of the five rooms: Project 00, Mine Shaft, Dark Carnival, and Dragons Keep. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend any of them. I don’t see us coming back for future visits.We had a great experience with our arrival. The owner was at the counter and chatted with us about escape rooms in general for a few minutes and then led us back to a great waiting area. After that, we didn’t see the owner again and it showed. When we finished one of the staff members (Donovan I think?) asked us for our opinion on the rooms. However, it quickly became apparent he wasn’t taking our feedback seriously and instead was trying to convince us we were wrong.Each room had a series of repeating problems – broken props, typos and misspellings (“slove willys riddle”, “body type: slinder”, etc.), and puzzles you could ‘glitch’ your way past without solving.If anyone at Last Second reads this – you can remove most permanent marker by drawing over it with a dry erase marker and then wiping both away with your finger.Dark Carnival: 5 out of 10This was the best room of the four. The set was simple, but well decorated. Not that sinister, but a solid carnival feel. We ran into two major problems – one clue was a combo of permanent marker and dry-erase marker, but (see above) wipes completely away. We had to call for a staff member to come in and give us the answer. Another involved light sensors, but several were knocked loose and not aligned to actually point out of the holes holding them. We had to dig our fingers in and push them back in place so we could trigger them. Told a staff member about the sensors and their response was “yeah, they’re loose”. If you know there’s a problem, why not fix it?Mine Shift: 4 out of 10Entire room was frustrating due to lighting issues. There were only two headlamps in the room, which would be maddening for larger groups (only 3 people in our group). One of the lights had a short in it and would randomly turn back off. You could shake it (and hear the parts rattling around inside) and it would turn back on. Pointed this out to staff, but they didn’t replace the lamp, just gave it new batteries, making it brighter and still just as likely to randomly turn off.This *should* be the best room at Last Second Escape, but reset errors let us into the final box immediately The clue to get into another box was locked inside of that box, along with a critical item for the final puzzle. This made the room unsolvable – or it should have been. However, due to the type of sensors used, any “important item” worked as any other important item, so we were able to swap clues from other puzzles to solve the unsolvable puzzle and beat the room. When we finished the room (confused because we had an unfinished map and a locked box still), the staff discovered the reset error. No apology offered.Project 00: 1 out of 10We didn’t enjoy this room, start to finish. We barely got any idea what the story was, as the staff-member mumbled and mixed up the story in the intro. Set was dull and mostly empty space. We had a repeat of the permanent marker / dry erase marker problem from Dark Carnival, but this time on a grand scale and the staff wouldn’t give hints for the wiped-away values should have been, so we had to guess from what bits remained. Is it a B? a R? maybe a D? Lots of just searching around 3 rooms with a black light to see what shows up with no clues to guide you where to look. Required leaps of logic to get solutions – difficult just to be difficult. Were so glad when we escaped this one just to be done with it.Dragons Keep: 3 out of 10Is it supposed to be Dragon’s Keep or Dragons Keep? Were we stealing eggs or recovering them? No clue, same problem with a mumbled and confusing story intro. We ran into a series of tech problems in this room, including in the final puzzle, so the room kinda fizzled to a conclusion with a female voice saying “Device Reset”. Again, no apology from the staff for the big reveal not working.

The most fun I have had in a long time! I can’t wait to try out all the rooms!
