GLOW NIGHT racing was amazing and a thrilling experience!!!! The staff are awesome and greatly care about the racers safety! Definitely inviting lots of friends for next time.
Timed laps, tight turns, faster than i expected. Races are 8 mins and cost 20$ first race and 15$ after that. Way too expensive to enjoy more than a race or 2 at a time. If my son and I both do 2 races, thats 16 mins racing and costs 70 bucks....yikes. If pricing was better it would be a 5.
Looks fun but can’t even get to the website. Never loads up. Can’t get any information. Guess I’ll just go somewhere else that actually has a working website that you can get to.
Used it as a team building exercise for my company. Great facility, lots of fun and out going staff. Covid19 precautions in place so prepare to have your temp.taken. its our 2nd time there, we will be back.
The carts were way faster than I was anticipating. Had a super good time with the family with minimal wait. Started on carts that go 35mph and got upgraded to carts that went 50mph after qualifying with 6 laps under 21s. Definitely recommend. Was very surprised. Also amazing deal for 10$ a race per person on Tuesdays with the family deal.
It was fun it did cost $20 for 8 minutes though I didnt like that
Tons of fun racing these karts. Good balance of safety and speed. You can qualify to have your kart pushed up to 45 mph! Would definitely come back for corporate event or with friends.
Great facility. Quite huge actually. Staff are friendly. Kind of pricey, but they do offer specials during certain hours and days. The website have those times and days along with the prices. Your first time there tho they offer you a discount of $17 for your first race. They also have shoes for rent for those who come in flip flops or sandals . Shoe rental I think was $3. Also being able to ride is based on your height not age. You must meet the height requirements to ride.
Worth the time! Nice set up, quick karts!!
My kids enjoyed it.
Had so much fun
Very good place definitely recommend it
Love this place! Customer service is much improved from earlier days. There Is fun for the whole family and yes even the wife and daughter . Will def return. Maybe the kids will beet me next time.
Totally enjoyed the bragging rights after beating my brother. This place was so much fun. We signed up for one race which was 16 laps. Even if you are the first to complete the 16 laps, you win by whoever completes any of the laps With the fastest time.We went during happy-hour time so the price for the race was only $12 which last until 4pm I think. The girl at the front desk was so nice and helpful in explaining how everything works. The gentleman who worked the go-kart area was very robotic as if he has been doing this for way to long but he actually manage to smile at the end.Great place and highly recommended if looking for a day of fun!
So glad I watched a race before I spent money on this. If they called it slow carting it wouldnt be misleading. While watching I never saw a cart move faster than walking speed. Move any faster than that and they slow you down. If Id want to putter Id just drive around my neighborhood. No thanks.
Karts are ok, delay times from brake to gas are extreme. Somewhere between 1-2 seconds of lag from brake pedal to gas pedal. Had to go back to front desk every time to get our next race and every time is was 40+ minutes and it wasn’t busy by a long shot. I’ve been go karting for a decade and never had to spend 3 hours to do three races. First timers may enjoy but not for anyone who is close to “enthusiasts” level
It was fun, clean and safe. The staff was young and helpful.
This place is an absolute blast to go to!It features high-speed go karts, arcade games, a super cool VR experience, with a nice assortment of snacks and beverages. It is a popular destination for birthday parties and for corporate groups - as well as Individuals and small groups. They have karts for adults and smaller karts for young children. The staff is very courteous and helpful with the registration and instructions.Very highly recommended!!
Always loads of fun! Since their maintenance staff changed and Preston is there the karts run better and are more evenly paced. Racing is always fun but can be different depending on the other guests running. Front staff always seem friendly, track crew is good for the most part.Running the electric karts is always more enjoyable for us than going to GeForce as its indoor and seems to attract less of the Im better than everyone drivers so its just more chill.
It was very fun to race. you gotta do more than one race for sure! definitley recommend
Love this place! Will come all the time ! Wish they had a league I could race in! Would give a million stars if I could
Good place for company outings and team building. Karts are as advertised if your skill level can handle the speeds. Prices vary, but definitely recommend the 3 race package if your new or returning.
I enjoyed it and had great time with the go-karts. I spent about 2 hrs with unlimited go kart on a Monday when they have a special. It was $50 for about 4 hrs but I spent about 2 hours driving the karts about 8 separate sessions which was fun and I improve my times as time went on. But i think that is the best value if you in a small group and it not a holiday or holiday weekend where there would be a lot of people. I would definitely recommend going here for the go karts though they are very fun and can be very competitive between everyone racing on the track. The karts are very fast I wish they had a little bit more power but there is a slight straight that let you experience the speed of the kart though.
Had a great time and looking forward to our next visit.
Was my first time My boyfriend and I took his nieces out for their first time to drive go karts I must say everyone was in agreement when we said we did not enjoy our experience there the associate working with us was very unpleasant and also unprofessional he was getting frustrated at the fact that my boyfriend’s nieces where running the kart into the wall mind you they are kids and it was their first time driving an electric go kart one of my boyfriends nieces said he told her if she did it again she wouldn’t be able to ride again I will never come back here until something is done about the associate Chris he’s very unpleasant
Love this place! Wish the karts were more consistent with one another some handle better and some have better throttle response with no lag
STAY AWAY. THIS PLACE BLOWS. This was the worst indoor kart racing place (of 6) I’ve been to by far. First they limit how fast you can go, but they don’t tell you until you pay. Then I get slowed to a stop 3 times in two laps, despite not hitting anyone, hitting anything, or basically doing anything other than driving slowly. After they told us how slow it would be, I asked for my money back and was told that was not possible (thought we hadn’t raced or gotten helmets yet. This place needs a little competition if it’s own I guess, if it’s going to be forced to improve.
Myself and 5 others had an amazing time with the 6 person group discount and extremely friendly staff. The track was great. The two different speed karts is a great idea. I will definitely be going back soon. Highly recommend this place.
I used to work here i loved it can wait to go back again to lose against the manager max again
It was fun and I suggest you go
Great time. great staff.
Took my son and his friends here for his birthday. Its not cheap but the kids had a blast and the staff was friendly.
Great place for fun go kart racing!
Always fun to go no matter your age.
Great facility and friendly staff!
Very kid friendly and good racing
My son is autistic and has never been in a go kart before. The friendly staff was aware and made my sons first experience an awesome one! Thank you and kudos to the staff for being fun, understanding and professional! Well be back!
The karts dont fit tall folks.
Go-karting is really fun I like how you can do virtual reality, too.
We all had fun. Was awesome. Will go again for sure.
Great place to take the kids and if your an adult and still feel like a kid its great for you too!!!
Go karting is awesome.but the associates are not very helpful. The associates at the reception, they are just there like robots. We were a group of 3 trying to see the best deal we can get on a sunday. We ended up just buying one race for 20$, where we could have bought 2 for 30$.
Used to a lot more fun. Not planning to go back with new qualifying time requirements. They start you out slow until you qualify and move up to speeds that actually require some skill set. This is fine and all but they raised the lap times to a basically unrealistic level. Ive been multiple times with people on their first time and they limit all the carts to the SP2 level on your first race but used to allow the speed increase to the SP3 level if you hit the required times during the race. Ive met the lap times when increased to SP3 to qualify for SP4 during one of these first races with others. Well the last time I went with a new racer and it was just two of us on the track I didnt even meet the new qualifying times for SP3. Would have spent more money for races at the higher level but not at the initial speed level. As someone that knows the track and knows how to properly hit apexes I find this a little suspect. When I inquired with the staff they said management raised the time requirements as they felt they were giving too many free races away. I totally understand that but again as someone thats easily met the previous times requirements and then didnt I suspect the initial SP2 speed was lower then before. This was even more cemented in when they said everyone usually qualifies by their second race and tried to sell more races. I may be back to race myself as Im already qualified from the old requirements one day but it just isnt worth it to bring new friends now.
Horrible place and I would not recommend. We went there to experience the high-speed karts and paid a premium to do so. When we got on the track and started running the carts were at about half the speed expected. After the race the guys working told me that they had to go at a reduced speed because of my 14-year-old son. At no time did anyone mention that they were going to run us at a slower speed or else we wouldnt have paid this price. I spoke to the manager and he basically said too bad since we already took the carts on the track. He also said the girl at the fron desk should have told us be she did not. I spoke to both the manager and the girl at the front desk and neither were willing to do anything about it. Exceptionally bad customer experience and a place I will never return to..
Great place to race carts
Great place for family.
This is a wonderful place to enjoy some time with family, friends, or co-workers. My son and I love getting some races in. Very clean, friendly staff, and good weekly specials. Check online for their weekly deals, and go have some fun!!
My kids absolutely love this place. Staff is really friendly. The facilities and karts are well maintained. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time with family, a date or a birthday party.
Fun and great place for a quick date or an evening with friends or to just race.
Fun times had by all!!
Definitely enjoyed the time with my daughter and friends
Fun experience. Marcus customer service was phenomenal!
Great fun for novice and experienced racers
Thank you Janet & Nicole and staff. You all made my sons birthday party a great time for everyone! We really appreciated the ice cream b-day cake as well! I recommend everyone visit and race, its fun!
Super sonic speedy go karts that will blow your mind! I go here a few times a week and it never grts old. Awesome staff if you get to know them. Sort of pricey but once you race I guarantee you will not think it was a rip off. Dont be afraid to ask for tips from the staff! For best deals go during their lunchtime specials and buy a few races or buy the package of 8 races, you can use any race you dont use next time you visit. If you live in the area and think there is even a remote chance.youll go again, just go ahead and get at least the 5 race package -- youll waste you money buying individual races or the 3 pack.My advice for first timers:- (speed 2) dont use any breaks for first speed trial, just pedal to the floor all the way through and youll get speed 3 for your next race no problem- (speed 3) qualifying for speed 4 is much more difficult that 2 to 3. Dont go out there expecting to get it your first try. Rather, get used to the slight break tapping and review your race lap sheet at the end. Notice which laps you did best and think about why. If possible, try and follow a veteran racer and youll prob get speed 4 if you do exactly as they do
Fun place, and great for large groups if planned.
They are too expensive, $20 for 1 race. Ridiculous with addition the young teeney boppers are rude.
Fun for what it is but so many stipulations. It seems like every time we go there is a group there. Groups ALWAYS take precedence. Even if you have already purchased multiple race, if you show up and theyre is a group, party, corporate event, etc. they will tell you that you cant race. Try telling your 8 year old kid that they cant race because they have an event scheduled in a few minutes. But Dad! No one is even on the track! We even once called ahead but between the time we called and then got there a large group reserved a block of time and we couldnt race.I just today found out that they have blackout dates for Groupons. Purchased it today and was told there is a blackout dates until Jan. 1st. Shame on me for not looking but seriously, they dont give a flip about you once they have your money. If the kids didnt LOVE it, Id never go back.
Great fun. A little pricey but it looks like if you go on the right days you can get some deals.
Small race track but one race allows you 16 laps, speeds up to 35 mph unless you qualify to increase the speed up to 45 mph. Very clean establishment with friendly and attentive staff. Great for all ages.
Took my great-niece on our special outing day. Staff was great and very accommodating . We had a great day.
Best karting experience in Richmond! They have well maintained electric karts that go 50+ MPH. Gas karts are no match to these electric ones. Also, the track itself is technical and a great place learn driving and cornering techniques.
This place takes go-karting to a whole new level. You think its fun at Putt-Putt or the fair? Well, you havent seen anything like this...the go-karts here are electric, and go 30+ MPH. Before you race, one must don a helmet and neck guard, making you look and feel like a professional race car driver. Whoever has the fastest lap time wins the race, and boy is it fun. Ive been several times over the past two years, and it just gets better each time. Eventually you get perks from having gone there before, such as being taken up to speed four (SP4), allowing you to go even faster. Its exhilarating and really is worth it. Even if you arent really into this sort of thing, Id be willing to bet youll enjoy it. I, for one, absolutely love it.
I thought it was a lot of fun and well run, but it was also pricey relative to other karting I have done. Also my partner got motion sickness after our second race, which isnt their fault, but something to be aware of if you are prone to motion sickness.
Hello Owner, do you still allow racers who qualify on their first race, to race again at the higher speed for no charge? I just called and looked at the website and see no mention of the speeds at all. The girl on the phone did not volunteer that info either.
Very, very unhappy. The track is small. The go-karts are slow. They actually control how fast youre allowed to go with a remote since theyre electric karts. My kart was not properly charged before our race and so my kart was 10x slower than the rest of the groups. As I was walking out, I asked the employee if they adjusted the speed per rider, and he said, Oh yeah, well youre kart seemed to have died during your race. So it seems they wouldnt have told me unless I had asked. Then when I asked for a refund since I drove a faulty kart for 10 minutes, the manager had one of her employees tell me that my kart had only stopped working the last 3 laps, and therefore I could not receive a refund. It was very upsetting after driving an hour to get there, and since one race was all I could afford.Go to G-FORCE GO KARTS near rva. They are much, much better. Way longer track and the karts are faster and gas-powered.
The place is nice and clean and new, the people are helpful and friendly and the cars are cool and high tech. The place would be perfect if they did not govern the cars so much. Some times they let you run a little faster and other times they limit your speed so much you would thing you were on a Sunday drive with grandma for the whole race. They say the cars can go 45MPH and who knows, they probably do, just not while you are racing them. The place is great but if your looking for a rush or something resembling a race and not a drivers-ed class, it might not be the best place. You will be safe though. They take every safety precaution right down to making sure you snap the end of the helmet chinstrap down after you buckle it.
My friend and I walked in with our kids and all of the employees stood behind the counter and stared at us. We had never been there before and went in to check it out for our families. I finally spoke up and asked how everything worked. One of the employees just gave us a look and said, “they are too short to ride”. That was it. They offered no other information, but instead just remained behind the counter just staring at us, so we just left. Not a great way to gain business. We won’t be back with the rest of our families who are tall enough to ride. Unfortunate for the owners who may not know this is the kind of customer service people are getting.
It was kinda pricey not that fun for the price
Stopped by Thunderbolt to purchase three 8-race gift certificates. I was instructed I could not purchase at that time but could return to the facility or call back after 3pm, which was perfectly fine. Needed a few seconds (maybe 5-6) to determine whether I wanted to call or stop back by to purchase GCs. At which time I looked back up to comment and caught the front desk operator rolling her eyes in an over-dramatic unnessary manner. Flat out disrespectful... which made my decision of how to purchase the $300 in races a very simple. Purchase Nothing.Regards,J
Comparing it to G-force karts this place is way better a lot less stinky and much easier to qualify to higher speed car! I love it.
Wow! I was very impressed with this place! It was my first time here and the staff was nice and friendly. I used the Groupon to purchase my two rides here for 20. I was able to use both rides the same and day and I also qualified for the highest speeds. While me and my boyfriend were in mid race, his car stopped working so they gave him another free ride since we paid for two and he only got one. I will most certainly be back!
Awesome place with a friendly staff. You need to unlock higher speed settings for the karts by improving your lap times. Its a little slow at first but its very fun once you get the highest speed setting unlocked.
The best indoor go-karts in richmond
My son and I just went here yesterday for the first time and loved it.We did one race to try it out and really liked the carts, we did pretty good so they let us race again at the next level speeds!! These things really get moving.Had so much fun we are here again today now starting at top speeds and with a GoPro they have setup on top of the helmet, everything here was really nice quality and the facilities are nice for just the family or big groups. All the staff was super nice, highly recommend checking this place out to have some fun out of the heat or just have some fun in the evening.
First time going and it was neat
Fun races for the most part. One rude operator of the track. Everyone else was very nice. Great front desk staff I have seen in a while.
Thank you very much to the entire Thunderbolt Team. My 10yr old and I came in to Thunderbolt for the first time and Ive never been so impressed with the outstanding customer service and how much time/care they took with my little racer man. We have had the best Saturday out together in a long time, thanks to the Thunderbolt Team. Anyone looking to have an awesome time, spend a LITTLE bit of money and HAVE FUN.... THUNDERBOLT is the place!!!!!!!!! Thank you again....
Terrible customer service soon as we walked in the door. I didnt catch the young ladys name but it is the light skinned girl, I seen her counting a drawer so she could have been in a management position. If so she needs a class in customer relations. When we 1st started asking questions about the place, since I wasnt from the area, I am in town for a family reunion. She got an attitude like i was supposed to know the lay of the land. She 1st said my brother had to ride in a junior kart because he wasnt big enough for the adult kart, ok cool no problem. What she failed to mention though is that he would not be in the same race as the rest of the family. Seeing how we were the only people in this place they expected him to go and race by himself. Are you kidding me? After talking it over with my family we decided wed still allow this place to have our business even after being treated like we werent wanted there.Aside from the very rude young lady the race was pretty fun. As for going back I do not believe I will be going back when I come back to town and will be sure to let my family and friends know how I was treated and not to spend their money in this facility.
Went here for an afternoon work outing, had a good time.
First off, let me say that the racing experience on the track is amazing along with the staff that are ON THE TRACK. I took my girlfriend, friend, and his girlfriend here after having a great time back in May of this year.Unfortunately, the staff at the front desk & the management in the backroom are extremely rude... especially the manager in the backroom on Dec 29th. After paying $70.00 earlier that evening for their buy 2 races, get 1 free promotion on my girlfriend and I (and using a military discount) I decided to buy another 2 races and get 1 free as I thought you could share rides with another individual.. (I attempted to give one of the rides to my friends girlfriend as I saw where you could share rides.. *This is only available when you buy the $99 race package.*) After this, I was still interested in completing my purchase. However, my girlfriend handed the cashier her military ID to use on our purchase once again and we were told that a discount would not be applied as it could only be used on her purchase. (I had no idea as I was not given a receipt for my first purchase of $70.00) After asking for a refund, I was told they did not do refunds and asked that they get a manager to help assist with the situation. The manager came out to me was very unapologetic about the inconvenience and told me that the military policy was standard.. I was still denied a refund and am now forced to dispute the charges with my credit card company as I told the management to note on my account that I would not be using the races nor returning to the establishment in the foreseen future. With that being said, the racing experience is excellent for anyone of any skill level and any age. Just be very careful of the management that deals with payments and any other issue that does not have to do with the track.**UPDATE:After reviewing the quote from the owner of Thunderbolt: Furthermore, Ive even made the policy retroactive so that if a driver qualified long ago on their first time at the track, well still give them the free race! I can also attest that the cashier would not honor this for me.. The only reason I attempted to purchase more races was to race with my friend and girlfriend who had just qualified that day and received a free race as I had qualified in May without receiving a free race.
We went last year for my son bday he loves it...And now we going again today for his bday
Thunderbolt Indoor Karting is an indoor racing venue. The cars are electric, so you wont die from carbon monoxide poisoning. As a result, you get instant torque out of the motors. Given the track is small, you will need a lot of skill to drive around the barriers. A lot of fun, but a little pricey.
Wait was longer than told by front counter. Person at front counter miscalculated the number of races before our start. Attendant at the track was rude and unfriendly. Very low customer service.
This place is an absolute blast. The cars are electric so they are faster than traditional gas karts.
Fun place.
