The Point Vicente Lighthouse itself is behind locked gates on restricted federal property, but there are lovely views of it and the Pacific from the well-maintained wide walking paths along the oceanfront bluffs north of the lighthouse. The iconic lighthouse sits on the tip of the Palos Verdes peninsula. It is surrounded by a public park with expansive grass lawns and clean restrooms, picnic tables, and lots of families come to enjoy the view, especially on weekends. Plenty of free parking.
Point Vicente lighthouse is closed for public but its nearby surrounding are awesome for spending good family time for grill, get together and have fun. Also morning and evening attract much more crowd to witness beautiful natural sunrise and sunset. And sea, garden and mountains views and scenic beauty around. Good trails for evening and morning walk.
Beautiful place ! Its a park with some tables. Its an area where you can lay down a blanket or such. People are playing catch. Dogs are being walked. Theres also quite often a couple of guys playing guitars, entertaining us. But of course theres the Gorgeous Ocean and a panoramic view of it at different levels. You can see the lighthouse.Theres trails (dirt) to walk on and take in the view of the ocean, take pictures !Restrooms are available. Its a hit.....
Point Vicente Lighthouse is beautiful stop on your coastal drive out of Long Beach north to Rancho Palos Verdes and beyond!Located between Point Loma Lighthouse to the south and Point Conception Lighthouse to the north. The lighthouse was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.The lighthouse is owned by the United States federal government and is managed by the United States Coast Guard.A stop for a visit or picknik makes for a great visit and an excellent sunset spot for pictures and IGs !....#pointvicentelighthouse #iloveligthouses #palosverdes #ranchopalosverdes #californiadreamin #californiadreaming #pacificocean #labucketlist #photoops #waynesalvatti #photografxworldwide#takeapicture #picturespots #ilovecalifornia
This is just one more beautiful place to visit perhaps pack a picnic and have a nice Siesta with the family or just with your sweetie Make sure you take something to sit on theres some picnic tables but it does get busy. Remember your face covering/mask.Stay safe and considerate !!Blessings......
This place is a short getaway for me when I want to clear my head or just relax and appreciate nature. You get an amazing landscaped view of the ocean, trees and even mansions. Theres even an easy hike area here to get your blood pumping. One of the most scenic spots in South Bay. Im glad I discovered this place.
Beautiful and relaxing place. Although the lighthouse is closed the park next to it has beautiful views to the lighthouse and the beach
Beautiful view, and a great escape from the heat! It was still hot but there was a breeze that made it bearable. What a great spot for some family bonding and picnic time.
Beautiful views. Well maintained area. Free parking.
It is a lovely place to visit.Today~just like all other places in cali, the terrible air quality made it not as beautiful as usual.Hopefully next time I visit there, everything will be same as before
Perfect place to live. I enjoy each day
California at its best. The Lighthouse is situated on a commanding view of the Pacific Ocean. Off in the distance is Catalina island. From the bluff you can see the ocean below. Make sure to go to the historical museum and see a copy of the lighthouse lens. An amazing work of craftsmanship.
Amazing place for fun far from home amazing sunset view
Probably my favourite place in all of California. Views of the ocean and if you go later, you can catch an amazing sunset. The interpretative center close by lets you trade in your DL for a pair of binoculars so you can go whale watching. Great place to take the family for a day out.
The actual light house is closed but the little park next to it is open, it has some beautiful views
It felt so peaceful ! Wasnt scare of corona virus every one was with mask on and with in distance too fell comfortable and secure beautiful views
Historical plaque inscription:The site was explored by Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo on Oct. 9, 1542, and named Pointe Vicente Bante Maria by Captain George Vancouver in 1793. Placed in service by the U.S. Lighthouse Service on May 1, 1926, it was renamed Point Vicente by the Pacific Geographical Society in 1933. Operation was transferred to the U.S. Coast Guard in 1939. Radio distress monitoring capability was added in 1942.Marker erected in 1979.
Nice place to relax and look out over the ocean. The walking path starts at the lighthouse and goes a ways north. There is no beach access from here, just beautiful views. Several picnic tables, benches and grass. Plenty of parking available as well.
Beautiful scenery, a must see!
This is a great spot to park and have lunch under the shade trees. The view of Catalina Island from this point on Paloa Verdes is so awesome !!!
If you want to catch a beautiful sunset, this is a nice place!
Great! Loved the view and lighthouse by the water.
Beautiful views, well maintained walking trails.
A revered, venerable historical landmark worth visiting at least once if youre in the area, the interpretive center is also worth checking out.
Perfect place to whale watch from the coast. Plenty of free parking. You can borrow binoculars from the interpretive center next door. You can not access the lighthouse as it is on coast guard property behind a fence. There are also many great walking/hiking trails from this location. There is a Starbucks and a Subway right up the street at the end of Hawthorne. Grab a lunch and enjoy the picnic tables, grass or benches.
One of the most beautiful places in California!!
This is a beautiful spot. Light house, ocean, bluffs. You can see Catalina Island. Stop by the museum for quick self guided tour & gift shop for souvenir.
Awesome sunset views. Beware, you can’t get close to the lighthouse as it’s gated off being a federal facility and all (bummer). Parking usually isn’t an issue unless it’s a holiday. Definitely would recommend checking out
Beautiful place for a peaceful stroll and to catch beautiful sunsets!
Wonderful walk with beautiful views of the ocean and lighthouse. Lighthouse is closed to visitors due to COVID-19
Nice place spend the time and you can see a spectacular sunset
Beautiful location and nice green grass to picnic on
I was there on a Sunday morning. Its an open apace for walking, jogging or just to relax watching nature!
Such a breath taking place to picnic or just enjoy the breeze
If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Amazing place for out of town friends or family. Very good for high quality pictures!
Lovely place to unwind. See the sunset.
Neat lighthouse, can’t get up to it as it’s fenced off but can get close. Lots of trails around this area. Cliff views and sunsets are great.
Nice park, easy trail.
Love this spot. Come out on any afternoon to watch a beautiful sunset.
Great lighthouse with a wonderful view. If you have never been here, definitely check it out. The area around is fun to explore as well. Make sure to go to the museum, very interesting and you get a great perspective of the site.
Nice view, but its fenced in, so us mere mortals are not allowed in. Whats the use in paying taxes to keep people out, instead of making it accessible for the enjoyment of the citizenry?
Beautiful sunsets
Sad that it is blocked off from the Public but what a nice picture opportunity
Great place for a hike, a jog, or a picknic. Has a small museum. It has a great view of the ocean.
One of the most beautiful places in California.
As a new “Angelite” I’m always searching for those spots to settle down and tone out the noise. Can’t recommend this spot enough. Close and yet you feel alway from it all at the same time.
Beautiful day for a walk outside the lighthouse!!!!
Truly a breath taking and inspiring location.Check times of entry prior to your arrival.
Amazing park to watch sunset
Bike ride with Hog Chapter and Bagels and cream cheese at the point
A beautiful and beautifully situated lighthouse.
Great picnic spot. No tents allowed (didn’t see a sign of this rule but yes, it’s forbidden. How do I know this? Well, we set our tent and were stopped by the staffs).
On a foggy and smoky morning in Rancho Palos Verdes, Southern California.
It has a wonderful ocean view with light house. You could see whale swimming nearby the ocean during Spring time.
I think it would be really beautiful when there is a lot of fog or just a normal sunset. But today it was just a tiny bit foggy, so it wasnt that beautiful.
Very cool and beautiful
Always good vibes!
It is definitely a place to go!!
Very beautiful
My favourite place
Great view of ocean
Wonderful view of the Pacific Ocean, a place you must visit to go for a walk.
Beautiful sunset
Really nice area
Its The Best Place to Get Away From People With Negativity! The View of the Ocean, the Sounds of Mother Nature is so Peaceful to the Soul! You Would Love it if You havent seen such a Place!
Uniquely picturesque lighthouse in SoCal
Remember that it is only open for tours every 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am to 3pm.... Don’t forget about the hidden museum at the Point Vicente Interpretive Center... They have binoculars for whale watching for free! Have to leave your car keys with them(brilliant idea).
Truly a breath taking view.
Best place to watch the sunset
Beautiful view point!
Great views
Go in a sunny day you will get breathtaking views around there.
Love this place
Nice place to visit
Very enjoyable and peaceful.
This is a beautiful spot.
Beautiful, breath taking views!
This had amazing views of the ocean and we were able to see many whales!
Great place to just look around with your loved ones and enjoy the view. The trail is really nice for a walk and talk and people have lots of picnics and reservations at the restaurant within it. Nice play to take pictures as well if youre into photographing great scenery. :)
Its so beautiful here..you can pack a picnic and sit and watch the gorgeous views..or walk along the trails..

Nice place
Awesome walk
Lovely views from the medium sized lighthouse! There is a small gift store as well, and its a great place to visit and just look at the ocean. It has very specific hours, only open a handful of days each month, so be sure to check them before arriving. In addition, children under 7 are not allowed. Check out the lighthouse website for more information.Pro tip - this is a fairly well contested Ingress portal, if youre a player, youll probably see one (or both) factions there while you visit!
Beautiful lighthouse! Definitely worth a visit. Check for open days.
Very nice open space, not crowded, and beautiful sunset views of the ocean. There’s also plenty of parking!
Great walking trails and photo opportunities.
Amazingly beautiful!
We went to Palos Verdes for Whale Watching Day. Too bad, there was no whale to be seen.Fortunately, the walk along the Point Vicente Interpretive Center amazed with a breathtaking coastal view of the cliff with lighthouse! It would have even more amazing being there during sunset!
I have been this place for many times and always enjoy it, its quiet even on July 4th.
Beautiful spot to see a sunset
Gorgeous place... The Lighthouse sits atop beautiful cliffs of Palos Verdes.. A must visit!
Gorgeous views of the coastal cliffs and the requisite lighthouse on the cliff. Great place for a picnic to watch the sunset without the crowds on the green grass, capture a view romantic portraits in the golden hour glow, and for the really technically savvy photographers, capturing the night sky and milky way over the lighthouse in the dead of night.
Beautiful place to hike and whale watch
This is a true oasis in the city. The views are incredible, bring a picnic & enjoy the sunset. Parking is free!
One of the most beautiful places in the area or anywhere. We love to go and watch the surf the whales and ships. Have a picnic, walk the trails.
