This is a fabulous hike! I would rate this hike as moderate to difficult - but only due to the length and some rock scrambling. My kids were able to complete it with no problems. The trail is very well marked by white blazes. There are so many views and landscapes on this trail! The lake, the rock formations, the small river, and the animals. ️ We saw hawks, many types of other birds, deer, and bunnies.

Awesome network of trails that lead to a lake with a dam. One tall follows the creek and the other cuts up and across the rocks. There are a few park benches along the way that you can sit at for a break. Some of them are shared. The entire trail is marked by white dots.

Suprising trail that starts out in boulders then opens to sandstone mounds and drops down into a lush green space near the damn. Great day trip adventure from Phoenix.

Beautiful medium-challenging hike over rocks, foot bridges, sand and some level ground next to a creek. Ends at the dam. Small parking lot but wasnt a problem when I was there. I will go back.

With a preschooler, it took us about 1.5 hours from trailhead parking lot to Watson Dam for a much needed break and the back again (which we tracked as 2.2 miles). Not easy for our family, quite rocky at beginning and as approaching the dam, but enjoyed by all! Gorgeous and varied surroundings (rocky, prairie, grassy, woods, 3 bridges, rocky stairs). Fun to look for the next white dot for littles. Make sure littles have good shoes for safety and hat for sunny parts. Sense of accomplishment at the end. Beautiful.

If you go far enough, you can see the water coming over the spillway of Watson Dam. Quite impressive in February.

Fun/technicalish trails from a semi-secluded trailhead. Can easily get to Watson damn, lake, and the Peavine from here. Great views, and varied terrain trough the Granite Dells.
