Im from out if town and always looking for places to walk/hike. This little piece of paradise was recommended to me and only .5 mi from where Im staying. I hooked up with the Audobon work party this morning, planning to help. I didnt expect the education I got on the flora from the members. At the entrance is a butterfly garden. The trail winds through a beautiful jungle made up of ferns, trees, flowers and so much more! I was told that river otter have been spotted in the canal. It took about a hour to stroll through, stopping to admire all around me. I recommend bug spray and going early morning.
In the middle of a residential neighborhood, but still feels isolated. Probably the most informative trail Ive ever walked. Prone to seasonal flooding. 3/4 mile long.
Beautiful park with tons of potential if cleaned up. Its really unkept. Wish we could get a clean up crew out there
Visited on an overcast and warm day but many creatures were stirring... cardinals, squirrels, marsh rabbits, bard owl, great blue heron and more. In less than the distance of walking 10 New York city blocks, the parks single outer- loop pathway is just the right length, 2640 feet long for an easy hike. Would be a great place to hold an Eco-blitz!
Such an amazing trip here today had the wonderful opportunity to see an adorable river otter swimming down the canal my first time seeing one super super excited!! Also saw many different kinds of birds, fish swimming in the water, lots of lizards and squirrels and a beautiful butterfly all within not even an hour of being here, we will definitely return soon!
Romantic i loved walking threw and seeing all the nature
Nice park to walk around in nature.
Nice area to walk
Nice place just to take a wander with the family. Not looked after, some trees with plaqe are dead and so another gift given to the county but completely ignored by this entity who is supposed to maintain.
Great park with lots of shade. My 2 year old loves it here.
Very short and unkept trail.
Well maintained walking path, large variety of ecosystems in one place.
This is a very beautiful natural park. I only wish I had caught a few fish. People tend to clean up after themselves too. I didnt see one piece of trash anywhere.
Nice spot for a quiet walk in nature. Well marked paths and a surprising variety of habitats for a small place. Can get very muddy and wet towards the back in the cypress swamp area, but otherwise easy walking.
This is an amazing nature trail on 8 acres surrounded by canals. It takes about 1 hour to walk the trail. There are 3 eco systems: Oak Hammock, Flatland Pine and Cypress Swamp. There is a butterfly garden near the entrance and a bird garden on the canal that will be completed by the end of 2019. Lots of wildlife like otters, squirrels, Gopher Tortoises, birds, butterflies, rabbits, etc.
The park was a nice cozy 3/4 mile trail. Me and the girlfriend walked it leisurely in about an hour.
Very relaxing and nice to walk around
Great memories of this rustic little out-of-the-way park. Dense paths, turtles, and alligators.
Lots of labeled plants...nice little walk..
Is small but beautiful
Love this spot. Its very pretty. Its a little flooded right now, but its still full of adventure.
If you enjoy private trails this is a great trail to get away to your self and your thoughts. I meditated out here and i felt amazing.
Wish it was bigger, but it is a very beautiful and peaceful place
Just stopped to çheck it óut bút veryniçe!
Very nice place to take your family and it also saves Refuge animals
This is a beautiful place . Luckily we are able to launch our small boat into the canals to fish. Its very peaceful. We regularly catch fish. One time we caught 18 bass in one day. My fiance has also caught a snapper there as well. We always throw them back. There are turtles, blue herons, egrets and many other birds to see. Unfortunately we had to walk a bit off the trail to get to a facility, but other than that, its always a great inexpensive way to spend a weekend day. Check it out!!
I love the deversevication of this walk park..always shady on a hot day. My little peace of paradise.
Quite peaceful place to go for a short nature walk parking is limited and no handicap provisions
Soooo relaxing! Love this nature park. Thank you Audubon Society & Mrs Pennington!
This a nice quiet little park with a little walking trail. There is a canal that runs through it. Part of the park trail (The very beginning) is wheelchair accessible to the water view. I wouldnt drive a long distance to visit but nice for a stop if youre in the area.
It is a nice walk around the island. In places the path is wet and muddy. There are areas where you are walking over roots. Probably not a good idea to go there if you are handicap.
Short pleasant walk. Beware roots as they are getting worse
Great place. Well maintained and clean
Wonderful quiet park with wildlife and informative signs. Lots of benches to rest on in beautiful spots along the trail.
One of my favorite little parks! I have photographed there often... Had let my dogs run wild UNTIL... I SAW THE GATORS!
Beautiful park. Very safe and quite relaxing.
