I really like the various trails in this park. Starting at the observatory, Ive followed the trails to the right and left hillsides. There are some quirky older buildings that give the park a sense of history and you can meander on the trails for quite a while. The hike back uphill to the observatory is the challenge. Weve also found the park personnel engaging and full of interesting stories about the area.

Nice park. Plenty of easy trails to follow as far as walking goes. Good place to get lost and away from the world for a bit.

Really nice park for picnics..!!We had an outdoor birthday party there in summer and it was so nice experience with the nice environment.Nice place for weekend fun with friends. You have more activities like biking, roller skating, hiking, tennis.. So close to the down town.

We went to ride bikes there after reading the loop was one of the top ten places to ride around Pittsburgh. It is a pretty park, but the loop is short (maybe 2 miles) and comprised of one long downhill then a short steep uphill. The side of the road was washed away in some places. But since it was wide, one way, and had marked bike lanes, it was very safe. I wouldnt go back to bike there, but would consider checking out the hiking trails.

A beautiful if, by comparison, slightly under-appreciated part of the City Parks System. Great for all the same reasons as Schenley, with additional perks such as the Observatory which I have yet to check out.

The observatory area is pretty neat. The hiking trails are challenging but require a bit of road trekking. Looks great for bicycling.

My favorite Pittsburgh park. There are enough trails to be able to spread out, so that you rarely encounter others on the same path. Situated on a hillside, the park offers a great variety of elevations, depending on how athletic youd like your hike to be. I frequently encounter deer while hiking, which is always a nice surprise for a city-dweller!

Its very beautiful. Playground. Pool. Trails... Dog Park... So much to see!! Every enjoyable!!

The road is caving in, its just not like it used to be 10 years ago as I remember it as a brighter inviting place.

Perfect place to walk, run, or bike a 5k. Lots of pavilions with grills. One chapel pavilion by permit. Lots of trails. Dog park. Pool but not in operation this year. And take a tour of the observatory! Its historic and no one supports it!

Nice wooded trails in a large city park. The only downsides are that the trails are poorly marked and it can be crowded. It is nice to be able to hike without having to drive far out from the city.

During my most recent visit, I only stopped at the Allegheny Observatory to look for the comet. That area is quite nice, and away from so of the light pollution you get from other areas in the city. As for the park, the walking and running trails are good. Theyre on the main roads through the park, but there is plenty of room for you and vehicles. When I last visited the park, some of the newly paved streets were already cracking and splitting. I think more maintenence needs to go into possibly stabilizing ground shifting to keep the roads and trails safe for everyone. Despite that, there is a lot of green space there (duh, its a park), which is good. Wildlife can be seen rummaging through the grass and bushes, and flittering among the branches of the trees. It is a very nice park thats quiet for being in the city. Once youre deeper, it wont feel like youre in the city at all.

Love how the woods and trails bring me peace. A great place to get alone with God, or take a walk with my family.

Beautiful observatory, closed when we stopped, with a huge park/walking trails.Heavily forrested, lots of flowering trees, squirrels, and trails to enjoy a good like w family.

Spent the afternoon with my great-nephews, Roving Art Cart, Book Mobile, face painting, balloon art and free lunch! What a perfect afternoon.

A very nice and well-maintained park with great places for walking and jogging, plus a historic observatory, playgrounds, a pool, and other amenities. Theres a surprising amount of wildlife for a park in the middle of town!

Beautiful woods! Take a map because the trails are not blazed! So many deer! Steep grades for hiking, so wear good shoes! Definitely will hike there again!

Weird place. There are a bunch of mountain biking trails on the map, but there are NO REAL MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS!! There are gravel walking trails. But they dont seem to go anywhere.

Great city park. Good trails,walking and bike paths. Has a dog park, swimming pool and nice playgrounds and shelters for picnics and parties. However, part of the road is closed due to construction.

Overall, a nice place to escape the city for a bit. Abundant deer and birds. The trails could be better marked / blazed in my opinion but then again youre never really far from tarmac so I guess its no big deal.

I love living so close to Riverview! We often get to see Ranger Nancy and she always has fun and interesting activities to tell us about. She has also lead my family a hike to observe an endangered owl and its babies in a nest in the park. It was a fun experience for my children and I and exposed them to a whole new world in our backyard!!

This is my local park and voting place. Love to walk around here. Home to the Allegheny Observatory. They offer tours here. They have two dog parks, a large dog park and a small. I take my dog to the small, there arent always other dogs but its still fun. The trails are nice, I enjoy walking them.

One of my most favorite city parks. I enjoy the high (elevation) points and wooded feel of this park that is so close to downtown, but yet it doesnt feel like it. Id suggest enjoying the place with a companion or 2 for safety as the park is big and lots of hidden trails and such! If you dont have someone to go with and feeling unsure, go up to the observatory area, dog park, or pool area(in season) and there will likely be others to socialize with. I think there are tours observatory but must be scheduled if i recall correctly...ded need to get a tour of the observatory myself now that I thinm about it!!

Real nice place but not enough bathroom

Park with tons or trails. Great place to exercise by running, biking, etc. The observatory is also a cool attraction. Not too busy when I went. Has a pool close by. Roads are fun to drive, very windy and hilly. Parking is a bit sparse but certainly not terrible

Im so torn in rating this park. It should get five stars. But it has been so neglected and needs so much work. There does seem to be some work happening, but that means a large part of the park is closed off right now (fall 2019). I hope the city puts money and effort into this park, because it really could be a five star park!There is the observatory, which is pretty neat. Behind it is a decent dog park (one for big dogs, one for small). Theres a pool, which I havent had the chance to go to yet. Theres an uninspiring playground (another place for improvement). There are also some short trails.This park has the potential to be wonderful!

This was a great venue for our yearly summer picnic for Direct online marketing. The Pavilion that we rented out had power and five or six rows of picnic tables. The surrounding area was pretty secluded from the rest of the park and we had kickball, soccer, and a few other games going on at the same time with no problems

Always a nice walk on a sunshiny day. Crews are making some nice improvement s in sections of the park.

Riverview park is a hidden gem as far as the Pittsburgh parks go. It has everything from history, to playgrounds for the kids, hiking trails, jogging trails, areas where you can take the leash off your dog, and its one of a kind historic observatory. Not to mention the breathtaking beauty of the park. Its very well maintained. Definitely a favorite for everyone.

A very huge park and you can watch a soccer game! Sounds like fun to me. The first time I went here was jan.12th. And boy did I have a blast with my family. Hey! I have an idea! How about you all try it! I promise itll be fun.

I visited the small dog park. Smallish but very clean. I arrived off peak hours so space was empty. I really enjoyed the beautiful old trees lining the area.

Was at a wedding 300? person Pavillion bathrooms clean. Parking a little wonky. Non GPS users will need a map gets confusing when you first try to get to this Pavilion its behind the playground. There was a second wedding in the park that day at separate area.

My favorite park! There are tons of walking trails, nice dog parks that my girls love, and the big lawn in front of the observatory. It has a little of everything right outside the city, but it doesnt feel anywhere near an urban center. The rangers are friendly, and they do lots of events. I love it here.

This is a very good Park to go walking or jogging or sightseeing in. There is a trail for those that love nature. Theres also a track to walk that is nice and soft its not like walking on hard concrete this park is a definite recommend

Whether youre jogging/biking around the two mile loop, or for the jazz concerts followed by an Al fresco movie Saturday evenings, theres something for everyone. In June look out for the Annual Heritage day festival, with petting zoos, horse rides, and so much more. An oasis in the city, head for the trails, and unplug while you take in some of the best views of the city. This is truly a great asset for the neighborhood. In the Summer cool off in the pool. Rent the Chapel for your next event, you wont be disappointed.

Pleasa, scenic location with varying levels of hiking trails. Trails seem to be a couple miles long and less, so probably not the best place for extensive hiking. Still good for exercise and peace.
