The tour was more amazing than we could have imagined. It features turn-of-the-century music machines of the sort that were in public halls. As neat as they are, they are not nearly as great as the house itself. Enthusiastically recommended.

This place was a hoot! Let me start by saying we enjoyed the tour immensely. It was scheduled as a 2.5 hour tour, and we thought its a house with music boxes, how could it take that long? and after it was over, we felt like aww... already? The house is a late 1970s whimsey created by an eccentric millionaire (and by eccentric I mean part genius, part nutcase, part really nice guy). The views from the clifftop are absolutely amazing.Since the tour guide asked us to not reveal any spoilers, I cant tell you about the ██████ or the ████████. And the ████ was hilarious! But I can tell you that there are some amazing and beautiful sounding mechanical musical instruments (some are small and some are 8 feet wide and 7 feet tall). They sound great, and the stories that the guide tells are absolutely engaging. Imagine a house with a dozen wet bars, of course the stories will be interesting :-) And the owner didnt drink!If you like music or just seeing how a crackpot millionaire lived, I recommend this museum. Ive been meaning to visit for years, Im glad I went!

Everyone should put this on their list of places to visit while in Pittsburgh. The main attraction is the music boxes but there is so much more to see. You have to call and make a reservation for a tour because tour sizes are limited but it is well worth it.

Wow. Oh...wow. Incredible. As instructed by our tour guide, I cant say too much about this place beyond Go! Its unique and wildly entertaining for something I never thought Id enjoy. My fiance, a self-proclaimed music machine aficionado, LOVED this place as well. Ill just share one non-spoilery picture...and youll still have no idea what to expect.

I and four friends recently visited this museum, and everyone loved it. The tour was a bit over 2 hours and the very congenial host told many interesting stories about the house and its builder. He also got everyone involved by asking them questions and what they thought about certain aspects of the museum. And it is definitely a bargain at only $10. We plan to visit again.

There is no way to describe. I loved the music boxes. Secret doors, and bars. Best is to go and experience it for yourself.

Several reviewers have said that the less we say, the better the experience. Ill concur. Weve been to the house three times, now, and continue to look for new people who havent been there yet (and therefore get to experience the surprise and elation when the various gems are revealed).So, go on your own, then find new people to go again. And again. Because of the nature of the place, youll need to arrange for a visit, dont just show up.

I have been on this tour several times and its still great! It is a very unique experience and regardless of your interests, Im sure you will enjoy it too! Also, its a great place for a date because its not very expensive and gives you something interesting to talk about at dinner afterward!

We could have spent all day looking at everything in this mansion! What a beautiful place- reasonable admission fee and staff was very helpful and knowledgable. We used the self-tour with audio amd asked some questions as we went. One of the ladies spent some time telling us about the fireplace tiles on the 2nd floor and an unusual feature in one room! So much to see! Well be going back!

Ive been here twice and would gladly return any day. Theres nothing else like this experience, from the musical instruments, the whimsy of the mansion and the knowledgeable guide. This is an essential stop if youre visiting the city, or if youre looking to try something outside the typical run-of-the-mill museum experience.

I had not heard of this untill a cousin of mine had been here earlier in the year. Our guide was knowledgeable, humerous when appropriate and accommodating. There were 6 in the tour, 3 & 3. One member of the other 3 had a flight to catch shortly after the tour (actually, he needed to leave before the tour would be over) so the guide sped up the latter half of the tour (its a 2 hour tour) and didnt cut anything out, just kept us moving briskly.As for the tour, it was very interesting learning about Mr. Browns life and more importantly the variety of music boxes he had acquired. The house (in Bavarian style) and possessions were very well maintained. I was thankful Mr. Brown had the desire to see his estate was preserved and open to the public.As with any tour, I need to take a 2nd one just to capture it all in.

A delightful experience, tucked away in a singularly wacky home on a residential street in the Pittsburgh suburbs. Every kind of music automaton imaginable, plus some you would never have imagined (e.g., a jukebox that plays Edison cylinders)! Legacy of an unparalled collector who obviously took his hobby too far -- for our benefit! Youll dream about music boxes for weeks.

The music machines were completely unexpected, and the tour guide was so thorough, I was just in awe. A wonderful experience of seeing luxury
