I LOVE this museum! It is big and full of history to look at and read about. I went there a few years ago for a college project and spent all day in there learning and seeing all sorts of things I wouldn’t have ever thought about. I can’t wait to come back some time! Also beautiful architecture

Loved this museum. You have a great combination of exhibits ranging from dinosaurs, mummys, reptiles, architect, and some new ones as well. The museum admission fee is fairly priced. It may take up to 2 hours to see everything. If you have children this is a great spot to take them as there are some interactive exhibits as well.

The museum itself is great and very much full of interesting things to see. The reason for my low score, however, is entirely due to the staff that works there. While most of the staff were welcoming and helpful, there were several that were just downright rude bordering on unprofessional behavior. My asthmatic wife was literally yelled at for going through a wrong door and there were several other situations where I noted very rude receptions from other staff members. More so than you would think possible. Definitely to the point where I felt angered by the treatment we received and definitely felt as though some of the staff could do with some training in customer support. I dont know if it is due to covid that maybe they are on edge or what but regardless we still managed to have a great time despite these few incidents. Probably wouldnt have said anything had it just been a single incident but after it happening multiple times, I just began to wonder why they couldnt say things nicely or attempt a more professional attitude with paying customers. If I was only rating the museum itself it would probably be 4 to a full 5 stars but counting in the experience as a whole, 2 seems appropriate.

We have travelled widely across 40 countries and all 50 states. Yesterday on October 27, 2018, we drove from Ohio to visit this museum in Pittsburgh. It is one of the very best. We liked the art collection, especially the American landscape painting and the impressionist collection. We do not like contemporary art, but for the folks who do, they have quite an assortment. Co-located with the art museum is the natural history museum, and it too, is outstanding. The mineral collection is quite impressive, and the lighting is excellent (no glare, easy to see and photograph and more). If you like dinosaurs, the T-Rex skeletons are amazing. It was a cold, rainy day, and this was the perfect place for us to visit.

A world class museum! We are blessed to have the Carnegie in Pittsburgh. There is an abundance to see and do here. At the holidays, the Christmas trees in the Hall of Architecture are a must see as is the immaculately detailed statuary of the nativity in the same room. Currently, there is a special exhibit, “We Are Nature: Living in the Anthropocene,” in the Simmons room on the top floor of the museum. It is among the most thoughtful and thought-provoking exhibits I’ve seen anywhere. If you leave without feeling moved to question the consequences of humanity’s affects in the world, you’re probably not really living. The best part about the Carnegie is how each space is designed to have you interact with the material. You could easily spend weeks (or years as we have with a family membership) getting to truly see and know all the museum has to offer. There are bathrooms throughout, coatcheck, gift stores, and even a very good restaurant within the space. The Carnegie is a Pittsburgh gem!

This place is fantastic. I cant remember how many times Ive been here and I discover something new every time I go. The gem and mineral collection is amazing. Some of the displays are dated though. The dinosaur folssils steal the show. From the big t-rex to the little archaeopteryx, there is so much to see. The taxidermy freaks me out a bit, I wont lie. Especially the hall of dead birds, as I call it. Though the dodo is fascinating. The ancient Egypt collection covers a lot.One day isnt really enough for this museum. Doing it in the same day as the art museum will cause you to rush through both.

This is a museum of art and history. Located in Oakland. You can spend hours here and just be blown away by all of the show cases items. There is art from Pablo Piccaso, Vincent Van Gogh, among others. There are many activities for the children to part take in. Arts and crafts, really allowing the children to be apart of the museum. This year it is free on every third Sunday of each month. Highly recommend this for a good educational trip or just to get out and change the scenery some.

The management consists of campers who arent sure what they are doing. For example, they made a security guard the head of marketing? Someone thought he was a nice guy so they gave him a job he wasnt qualified to take. The management degrades people with more skills than them. The behind the scenes areas that you work in arent that nice. If you have skills and get an interview, they wont send you a response back or let you know if you got the job or not, theyll just leave you hanging. They insult people who applied for jobs who have more skills than the managers because they feel threatened by them. They dont pay well either.

I love the Carnegie Museums so much, ever since I came to Pittsburgh for school Ive gotten to visit every once in a while and I am so thankful to live so close to this beautiful place, I cant say enough good things. Today I had an experience that truly made me realize what lovely people work at the museum. Last time I visited, I had made a remark about a dinosaur shaped pen I was given to sign in, I really wanted one but went around to the museum store and couldnt find any. Today, I went to the museum and signed in with the same pen, I remarked to the worker how much I loved it, and once i was done they gave me one and said here you go! It was just a little gesture but meant the world to me. Thanks for always going above and beyond!

I have lived in Pittsburgh my entire life and have been coming here for years. I would say that I come here with my family about 2-3 times a year (we are members but my son loves the Science Center more at this time in his life so we go there at least once a month).I really enjoy the Hall of Egypt and the Hall of Gems. The radioactive stones are a favorite. I also love the Lions and the Dromedary diorama. I actually was at the grand unveiling back in 2017. I thought it was neat to be a part of that. However that event was plagued by speakers who we’re letting personal bias get in the way of academic presentations. Regardless, it was a once-in-a-lifetime event and I am happy to have been a part of it.Back to our visit today, my son loved the Polar Exhibit and the Stratovator and I love watching him enjoy himself.Thank you guys for all you do.

Great place! Been there multiple times. Lots to see. We usually stick with the dinos but explore the entire museum. We spend many, many hours there. Only DOWNSIDE is food is overpriced especially after the amount you pay for admission. This isnt out of the ordinary however compared to other museum food areas. Food area staff were very strict (and i feel rude) and didnt allow my then 4 year old to sit and eat his snacks because we werent paying customers of the food area. Though there was no signage stating this... Save money. Pack your food/lunch. When its time to eat, head out to your car, eat, and return back in.

I absolutely love this museum and Im very into art. This is a great place to take your family of all ages. They have the artistic half of them and then the history with all the animals that little kids would enjoy. Over all a pleasant experience. Only reason I am giving 4 stars was because when I went, half the museum was blocked off due to remodeling. Thats not their fault, they are just updating everything so people can enjoy. But it was just a little disappointing because it was my boyfriends first time there.

OK, the museum is awesome, really awesome, so my review is going to be nit-picking.#1 The maps were awful and the directions to navigate the building were worse. It took us 20 minutes and asking two people to learn that we had to walk through the gift shop to enter the museum. This is my most serious criticism of the visit.#2 I had not visited since the early 1970s and I really miss the old hall of dinosaurs. It was cool. The new format looks like every other museum#3 The building that houses the museum is as awesome as the museum itself. I dont feel that they respect it the way they should . What an awesome place to put collections, even if it was designed for an entirely different way of presenting historyOn the positive side (and remember I am not addressing the exhibits which were amazing)#1 The people were amazing. We took two tours with top notch guides and spoke to one of the spotlight personnel. This museum is one class act.#2 The cafeteria was probably the best in a museum that I have experienced. Prices were OK and the food was diverse and excellent.

The art, the history, the dinosaurs, its all here. What you really have to appreciate is the painstaking detail that went into making it all so interactive and educational. Any museum can gather up some dinosaur bones and put them into a hall for viewing, but this museum made it so engaging that anyone, kid to adult age, would have a hard time saying they didnt enjoy the experience. Do not miss out on the Rocks and Minerals exhibit, you may be thinking.... why spend time there when there are so many more interesting places to visit, its just not true. The colors, the geometric patterns, guaranteed you will not see a rock collection like this ever again and it will impress you.I love the little things, like the easter egg surprise I have in the photo I posted below... thats fun stuff.
