The federal staff of the US Customs Office are wonderful. However, the private security guards at the door of the building are disrespectful and engage in harassing behaviors at every opportunity. In particular a guard calling herself E. Williams.They aim to frighten and harass every person walking in the door.

Beautiful building

I went in to get an expedited passport renewal.The entry staff were prompt and professional.Everyone was extremely helpful even though my situation was non-conventional (wasnt the normal reasons for expedition). Leslie in particular was an absolute angel. She was beyond kind and thoughtful, and helped me through the process. I made an appointment ahead of time and highly recommend it due to the very long lines for the walk-ins. Thanks so much again to Leslie!

Staff are polite and seem to work within the confines of their requirements, but the security process needs to be re-worked. Entering a federal prison is less intrusive and takes less time.

The U.S. Custom House is a beautiful building. The staff were polite and professional. My wife mentioned that the ladies restroom was located in an inconvenient location far from the passport office. (The mens restroom was much closer.) Considering that going to the restroom can easily mean losing ones place in line, the ladies restroom should be moved closer to the passport office.
