Parks on tap is currently based here. Must be 21+ to enter. They do a good job on enforcing mask use and keeping seating areas far enough from each other. The only have one available food vendor which also provided alcohol. With every drink purchase you must make a food purchase.Would be great if this location offered more food truck options.

To my scintillating surprise, i was able to find a parking spot fairly close to the museum. There were ample benches, but my friend and i unraveled a blanket in the shade of an ensconced Fairmont tree. For a brief fall afternoon, all was as perfect as could be.

Nice place to take the family. The museum is free and has a lot of information about the water and the river to be more specific. We went on a hot day and the air was ice cold and the area outside was nice with many trees. Will come again.

One of the most interesting and under-appreciated sites in downtown Philly. Details are found online, but this stop is interesting for the visible architecture and buildings as well as historical significance and the interpretive center down below. Take an hour or two out of your trip and visit this piece of history. Its an easy walk from the Museum of Art and 2 hour free parking is very close. Why would they need to build such a short dam on the Schuylkill river? Youll find out if you visit - the answer is ingenious!

Beautiful scenery. The Water Works is a great picture spot and revives the classical architecture of American ideas of cities of the future. The Water Works museum is informative and insightful in different aspects as the history of the water works, its role in Philadelphia, the architecture, old and new water treatment. You learn history, science, biology of the area, and hydraulics engineering.I stopped by without knowing it was a learning experience but it was great. Definitely recommend.

This is a hidden gem. Guess, not many people know about this place. was very interesting to know about how the water needs were met in the past and in the current day. Lots of exhibits to keep the kids entertained and wanting to know more. As a result of visiting this place, we in the household have certainly become conscious when wasting water (when brushing or washing things) and have reduced our wastage.

We attended a lovely Friday night wedding here. The valet service was on point including umbrellas as soon as stepping out of the car. The champagne pre ceremony was divine. The ceremony took place with a beautiful river view and gorgeous columns draped elegantly. The food is non-stop and for the most part delicious. The servers were attentive. The layout under the tent was very nicely planned. The lighting is top notch. The trailer bathrooms are clean and very classy. The venue is a very choice for a wedding. The views are exquisite. A top pick to hold the nuptials in Philadelphia.

The waterworks functioned as a water pump to a reservoir which is now the site of the Philadelphia art museum. Currently the site hosts a small free museum which is worth a stop. The site once hosted an Aquarium, recreation center, pool. The buildings upstairs host(ed) a restaurant and is highly sought out for weddings and other events.

My wife and I were strolling along the banks of the Schuylkill and had to stop in and admire the beautiful architecture of the Water Works. Beautiful historic building and breathtaking scenery! Drop by the Interpretive Center (free admission) to learn more about the much-touted former pumping station that supplied water from the Schuylkill River to the city for much of the 1800s. The presentation is informative and entertaining for both kids and adults. Some of the original facilities on display, such as a turbine from 1851, are really neat.Drinking from the water fountain was another neat experience, especially after we learned from an exhibit that the water comes directly from the Schuylkill River. It did assure visitors that the water has been cleaned and is perfectly potable (it is!).

Great building to learn about the history of Philadelphia Waterworks. They have detailed, well-maintained displays. Many displays are interactive and the short film is very informative. We visited the mussle room and one of the staff allowed us to enter their lab area to see how they are dissected. Super interesting and the kids learned so much! Takes about an hour to walk/read through it all.
