Really cool history and well-preserved building. The guide working behind the counter was super informative and made the experience even more interesting for my kids. I highly recommend walking through this building.
Campos Philly Cheesesteaks loves Carpenters Hall
Great establishment with an extraordinary knowledge of the history of all this place.
There was not much open in this part of the park. But the structure and inside the structure was pretty cool.
This is one of the hidden gems as far as Philly and American history is concerned. This building and area was used for so much since the inception of the country, and was even instrumental in the founding of the nation. The inside is extremely informative and has plaques, a scale model of the building, and some historic pieces on display. If youre interested in American history this is a building you cant miss.
Nice area to relax with your dog & enjoy the atmosphere. Great bat watching site at night.
There are lovely Gardens and trees and shade and Green Park area to sit in nearby.
The first steps of Independence were taken here. This is an amazing piece of American history. You do not need a ticket and is free but you can give a donation when you get inside if you want. It has the cheapest gift shop in that area buy your postcards there. The first bank robbery in America and Benjamin Franklin had secret meetings with a spy in this building. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Do not miss this!
Best described as a hidden jewel among the treasures in the Historic District focused on Independence era history and architecture. We found this location by accident — wondered in to the main building of the three in this cluster of historic venues. The Carpenters Hall has a story to be told and the staff/volunteers on site fill the bill nicely. Some say they take up to three hours in this relatively small building — we spent about a half hour and felt like we got a good dose of the importance of this place in history.
Neat place of US history. No lines for entry. They have a decent gift shop.
Beautiful site! I wish it stayed open later so working folk could visit inside it.
. Model at this historic site. Period actor sits inside and is very knowledgeable and accessible.
This buildings history is underrated when you have the opportunity to see what people that have had to work with the names of the people are on the wall and documents that it started and founded the area that we are now living in it is quite an amazing adventure to go inside with extensive knowledge the structure is white impressive
Must be experienced just because
Interesting unknown history about the location
Very well maintained and informative
Beautiful old philadelphia.
Lullaby of US furniture design
Very informative and interesting, so much history around every corner here!
Fascinating little piece of history, plus it has a neat shop inside.
A lovely place to imagine what it must have been like in the old days
Awesome to see it countrys history! Well done.
This place is tucked into downtown and easily missed but take the effort to check it out. The exhibits are so so. The real value comes from talking to the volunteers who will connect it to so many famous pieces of history. No enterance fee which was also nice! A great 15 minute stop
Historical venue worthy of a quick visit. Admission by donation.
Great place with true historical value. Well worth a stop when you are touring Philadelphia
Volunteers had great knowledge and were willing to engage in conversation. Great experience!
It was a decent experience for my family. We decided to do a quick trip to visit some historical sites and it was very informative. I remember being bored with history growing up, but the guide we had made it incredibly interesting.
Meet George Washington. There in his birthday
Never a soul here. An urban oasis
Really cool. Theres not that much here, but its a cool building and it has been many things over the history of Philadelphia.
LOVE this place!
Lovely! A must if youre a Philadelphian!
They have a chair from 1700s
Underrated historical site. One of the must dos when near Independence hall.
An often overlooked gem. Be sure to see where the First Continental Congress met. No long lines here.
Smaller space that housed the first Continental Congress. Lovely, but not a lot to see. Still, its free and worth a look around if you are in the area.
Awesome place to learn about the history of our country. It’s well preserved & you are looking at the exact spot & items that our forefathers saw. It’s an amazing experience!
Great place
Open to the public for free.
It is small but worth a visit. There is a gentleman there dressed up in 18th century clothes. He is friendly and informative.
Amazing architecture!
Really well preserved historic building! It was like stepping back in time! Such amazing architecture and intricate details.
Beautiful but not open to the public
Great place to visit
Historic place worth seeing. The admission is free.
Interesting piece of American history.
It was small park and nice and peaceful.
Historical! Free, interesting, and quick.
Awesome, they will give you a little history lesson.
Beautiful 2 story historic meeting hall dating from 1775 built in Georgian style, served as the meeting place for the First Continental Congress, and the very spot where Congress first resolved to ban the importation of slavery, setting the stage for future abolition. A major stop on the historical tour of Old Citys many sites. It is free and open to the public, and amazingly still serves the purpose for which it was originally built: a meeting place for the carpenters union.
Pretty cool. A lot more interesting than it seemed.
Great place to vistit and tour. History is all around you and its crazy how much you can do there . Take pictures!
A real experience to stand where such brilliant and brave men began our great nation.
Very beautiful placeHistorically very importantIf you know the history or are interested in it, you will enjoy this placeThere are many small exhibits around do catch them tooAnd don’t miss the 18th century garden just behind it
The whole country is closed but this privatly held building holds a very nice lady who guided us around.
All americans need to come here, just not at the same time!
A great historic building to visit in the Old City neighborhood. It is a well preserved building that has been continually owned by the Carpenters Company since it was built in the 1770s. This is where the First Continental Congress was held in 1774. It is free admission to the public and very close to other historically significant buildings in Philadelphia that you would be interested in attending.
Excellent history and super friendly staff who are happy to share the heritage of the building.
Very good place for kids to know the history.
Nice displays. Very informative.
Friendly, knowledgeable staff. The museum itself is an interesting blend of political events, commercial history and carpenters craft.
Very interesting spot that is easy to miss among the bigger attractions. Worth popping in.
Small, pretty building that you can walk through and it served as the host location for the first continental congress in 1774. Has a select few exhibits and also a store.Admission is free.
Had a great time with General Howe discussing his trek to Fort Ticonderoga getting cannon for Breeds Hill and forcing the British from Boston.
Love downtown pa
Very, very boring. I have never been there, but we talked about it in my history class, and history is boring. They should just ban school. Theres nothing they teach us there that I cant just learn online. School is dumb and there is no reason why it should still exist. Anyways, I give Carpenters Hall 10 out of 10 stars.
You have to go there
This is a much quieter site than Independence Hall, but still interesting and worth a visit. In additional to its historical significance as the site of the First Continental Congress, it also has excellent floor tile work. There are useful placards describing the buildings history. Its free to enter, and there is a small gift shop where you can pick up a handy (free) map of surrounding historical attractions.
Philadelphia has done a great job preserving the historical sites.
Cool piece of history
Its a place with a lot of history.
Very interesting history.
One of the most historic places in America
Very cool. Loved the brick work
Small but nice exhibit
Quick stop but a fantastic historic building
We are the Carpenters In Arms baby!
Very understated. Definitely worth a visit!
Very interesting. Lots of history.
Beautiful building with a awesome history
I was born and raised in Fishtown 5 mins away. I’m a 4th generation mason and my father, his father and his father all worked on these buildings. I’m now working on these buildings myself. People don’t get to see that side of the story. Local 1 BAC
Alex Palma is the best tour guide.
Good history fix
Great place to stop and right across Ben Franklin Miseum.
Very interesting place
Step back into colonial times.
We stopped in her by chance, as we were in this area for the afternoon, and couldnt have been more impressed with everything about how this is being presented to the public. The Once Upon a Nation storytelling bench outside, was awesome!!!!!
This is where at all began. For the second time. Walk in the footsteps of history. Literally.
Quick stop with interesting info. Dont forget the military museum at the side building down the alley path
Very cool to be here. The guides and rangers are excellent
I like the history of the Capenters Company
Just a caprenters hall
