A great spot to look across the bay at the hills surrounding the Bay Area. The boardwalk further out towards the bay is closed but you can walk the first 100 feet or so. Great spot to watch the sunset and enjoy the amazing views and wildlife.

Walk it on your own or hear what Baylands life is truly like with docents. Great for kids age 8 and up. Bring a no-trash lunch and walk the trail. So many wildlife beings live in the marsh. Incredible ecosystem.

A lovely place for some bayfront views and perfectly flat terrain. Great way to get some sun. You need to walk a bit to get away from thevtraffic noise, but thats the price for access. Downside is the lack of loops: strictly an out n back deal.

Its fun to go out there different times of the day when the tide changes in and out of the Salt Flats there are all kinds of wonderful decks and other birds and animals that hang out really fun to take your children but do not feed them bread if youre going to take wild bird feed to not hurt those animals you have to either feed them wild bird food or even better pass

Lovely spot on the bay. We stopped and had a nice lunch while my daughter explored the area. Watched the tide roll slowly in. Also enjoyed getting on the boardwalk, but its damaged in parts. Would love to see the county invest in building it back up.

A very pleasant walk on the marshes of Palo Alto; beautiful and a great place to birdwatch and take photos. This is a great area to spot various ducks, shorebirds, egrets, occasionally white pelicans, kites, and hawks. Theyve even seen peregrine falcons here at times. And of course, the non-native (but spectacular) ring-necked pheasant who begs for food!

Great wildlife preserve with more than 10 miles of trails for bird watching, running or biking. Wind-surfing or kayaking is also permitted in this area. I am surprised that so many birds live here peacefully with an adjacent busy airport.

Great fresh water and salt water marshlands for bird watchers and photographers. Numerous nesting areas for Avocets, Stilts, Pelicans, Night Herons, Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, Great Blue Herons, Clapper Rails (including the rarer California Clapper Rails), Brandts Cormorants, Pelagic Cormorants, American White Pelicans, Canadian Geese, Mallard Ducks (many other species of ducks visit the duck pond during the year), Snipes, Harriers, Sandpipers, Long-billed Dowitchers, Gulls, and many other species. Follow the Bay Trail to the south watching the taller trees near the Skunk Works to see nesting Harriers. Great place to photograph birds in flight. Visit several times a year to see various migratory birds. I photograph birds all over the country, but the Bay Trail encircling from the central penninsula around the bay to Hayward offers one of the best wildlife photography experiences in the country. Great place for bicycle day trips if you have a rear bike rack and a set of foam padded panniers for carrying your gear.
