I love the Ellis Cove Trail. Its a beautiful old growth forest hide away from the city. There are some intense hills and mud during this time of year (December) so wear hiking boots or shoes with good traction that you dont care to get dirty. Beautiful for bird watching, as well. All around one of my favorite places in town to get away.
This was a great park to explore. Free parking available and restrooms. The play structure was really fun and the hikes to the water are easy and fun. Lots of visitors at this park and filled with adventure for all ages. The view of the capitol was really nice from the mud flats. My 6yo loved the play structure. I think a picnic here would be nice as well.
We only got to hit one of the trails but it was beautiful! Excited to go see more of this park. So much to see. It was like a fairy tale. The trees had moss all over them. Even with it being close to the road it feels like your in another world. Nice trails marks at the beginning to show you where it will take you. The water was beautiful with tons of sea life. Shells everywhere, jelly fish, and you could see little critters in small pools.
Beautiful place to visit with friends. A group of us met and had a great visit at the main shelter by the rose garden. Perfect for social distancing. It was very clean and there was a sink with running water, plenty of picnic tables as well as bathrooms nearby. Very nice location, easy access.
Lovely trail and well maintained. A bit busy in the sitting areas but the trails were very open.
Awesome little hike, perfect for my 3 year old boy! Lots of bird sounds and a relatively easy hike! Full coverage which also kept it nice and cool.
The trails are pretty good, lots of trees and nature. The beach trails are nice too and open up right to the beach. Though you can’t swim in the water, looking for shells and seeing washed up jellyfish and crabs is interesting enough. The playground area is a good place for kids to burn energy, and there are also picnic shelters and tables that can be used. Nice place to go hang out and bring the family.
Easy walk with beautiful views of Puget Sound. The only thing that shocked us a little was when we found a spot to go down to the water, there was a sign saying to keep off the beach and the water due to bacteria contamination. Very sad to see that. We stayed on the trail and just enjoyed a walk in the woods and the scenary.
Love this park. Clean beach area, playground, and picnic areas. Great family and dog friendly park.
This is my favorite place to go for a nice walk in nature and feel at peace yet still be so close to town. And its dog friendly which makes it even better!
Love this local park on the edge of town. Beautiful forest walks down to a beach. Dogs allowed on leash.
Trails appeared well maintained, and some go down to the water, where there are beautiful views. Folks should wear foot wear that provide stability sufficient for hills and steps ... the hiking about will be worth it. Look for edible berries during late spring and summer montha.
A beautiful and local retreat from the bustle of everyday life. Priest point park has hiking trails, multiple gazebos for parties and picnics, a playground, and a beach for quiet evening strolls. A great place to take a day trip with friends, animals, and family!
Priest Point Park is a great place to enjoy nature at its best. Several trails to get to the water. I would recommend the main trail due to safety concerns. Bring old shoes since it is squishy at some spots. Not strollers or wheelchair accessibility. The park for kids is ok and has on swing for a child with special needs. Bathroom were closed next to toys. Not a lot of parking. It was a sunny day in February so probably more crowded than normal.
Great spot. Wish they had signs for the hikes. Very clean. Lots of trash cans so you can keep it clean. There is lots of poison oak so make sure to stay in trails.
Really pretty park with nice trails great for some beach combing.
The fish literally jumped onto the hooks!Nice park, views, and wildlife
Very nice park. Close to downtown. Pick nick tables with some shade and nice play area for kids.
Excellent trail network. Well maintained and only a couple of places that get steep, but stairs are there to keep footing even. In general a bit technical and easy/medium difficulty. Many interesting sights to see in this park: bridges, a bay, birds.
Great place to sit down and have a pic nic before taking a stroll in the lush forest. I especially recommend the rose garden as a perfect picnic spot!
Very large and beautiful park. The water is also very pretty.
Nice trails and views. Kids and grandkids loved it.
Ive grown up at this park my whole life one of my favorite places in all if the country and I have been almost everywhere the solidarity and simplicity of it are captivating everyone should go here at least once
Had a great hike! So many choices for routes and great scenery regardless of the ones you take!
Beautiful place! So much to do for any age and desires!
This park is gorgeous. A sacred natural sanctuary for us to enjoy responsibly and respectfully.
Today 9/22/20 multiple cars were broken in to at the trailhead. Broken window/s and theft of items from the vehicles. Beautiful area but be very aware of what you leave in your vehicle, when you hike or leave the parking area.
I did a family shoot here tons of places to get photos. The only problem was its very popular so photos where a timing game between the people walking around and the kids
I loved bringing my kids here and now I love bringing my grandkids here. Wonderful park with much to explore.
Nice park. Need to explore more there but the short time I spent was nice. Great parking, covered areas, and beautiful trails
Great walking paths, well maintained, beautiful trees. Could walk over 5 miles to see everything.
Love this place! The beach is covered in clam shells. It is so peaceful and beautiful there, and serene. Got a great view of the capitol building in Olympia from there. With some nice pictures of landscape, and as the tide was starting to come in.
Amazing trails and views. Hikes all throughout the park and made it down to the beach to check out some crabs and sea shells. Great day spent here!
Shaded play ground for hot summer days. Play ground has a spongy floor rather than bark that gets all over the kids. Park has plenty of walk trails as well.Con: they dont have changing tables in the restrooms and the restrooms are filthy.
Great park to go for a walk with the dog, lots of people running on the trails.
If you enjoy nature and small beaches, this park is the park for you! As an Olympia native, I still havent gotten tired of Priest Point. It has a large tree at the bottom of the beach trail that you can climb on and take photos, and along the beach there is a great view of the sunset as well as the Capital building on clear days. There are many paths to choose from when you park, and each one has its own adventure waiting!
What a beautiful place for a wedding!!The covered area was darling and enough room for quite a few people. It also has running water and outlets. And the park is so lovely. So many fall colors.
Beautiful beaches, tall trees, plenty of places to relax and enjoy! This park is a gem!
Priest Point is a great place close to Olympia to access the Sound and forest. Its always really clean. The east side has easy gravel trails that take you past large, moss covered trees. Theres also a new shelter and a small rose garden. The west side has the Ellis Cove trail which is a little more hilly and can have some muddy spots. Bonus points for finding the two hiding black bears. Theres also beach access, more shelters and a playground. I love this park and visit as often as I can.
One of the best parks in Thurston County. Something for all ages.
This place is beautiful! Lots of trails, the park was nice for my granddaughter.
Beautiful park and beach. Only two fire grills so be prepared to share.
Nice walk among the big trees growing ferns
Great park. Water access, walking paths and grassy spots. Plenty of covered areas.
Beautiful any season. Great place for quiet.
Nice beach there is also lots of trails and a tree that you can crawl up and inside.
I arrive with a packed lunch and an audiobook. I left with a new sense of peace and feet that smelled like sewage.
Lots of trails, good place to walk dogs, playground for kids.
Love this park. Shaded in the summer, and despite the droves of people, you can always find a spot to park.
The park area is nice, the beach was not what I expected, we ended up burfoot much better beach area for the kids
Great paths to hike, wonderful views, great beaches, picnic tables, and great kids playground.
Picturesque park with nice hiking, play groundand bbq site
We started out at Priest Point Park, then crossed over the bridge to continue on Ellis Cove Trail. 6 miles, gentle to moderate steepness.
Even for an extremely busy day there, there was still plenty of room to social distant ourselves and enjoy the woods while having a picnic.
Waterfront has mady areas -came back with dirty shoesTall trees and feels like forest in mountains not near downtown Olympia
Nice place to take the dogs for a hike/walk.
Great place near town to go for a decent hike.
Beautiful location. Nice walk on the shore line.
Beautiful park. Nice view of the capital
Beautiful park love taking my kids there.
One of the best kept Secret in Washington State. Pack a lunch, walk the trails & visit the beach!
Since moving to Olympia this is my go to park for gentle hiking and just plain fun forest walking. It is always a refreshing peaceful place to just chill with nature. I have never found any suspicious locations, dead bodies or local legends of missing children/crazed killers/Indian burial grounds or any other items that would hamper a good hike. Plenty of bbq pits and picnic tables as well as beach access but no cabins (haunted or otherwise). Just a nice park for simple hikes, none of that fancy extreme hiking. Enjoy.
Great place to urban hike. Well maintained and marked trails and spectacular views♡
I have been coming to this park for years. It is a great place to run on the trails, walk your dog, or take your kids to play and explore. My wife and I got married in the historic rose garden. Very good memories here. Please go visit soon. You will not regret it!
A beautiful park, majestic trees, trails to enjoy, there are benches along the trails for rest reprises. Bring a lunch and enjoy the day, parking is available in several spots away from the main entrances.
Prepare to be amazed. This park is breathtakingly beautiful. Plenty of trail for the avid outdoor exercise enthusiast. The landscape is mesmerising. This park has a playground for the kids and an outdoor event area where weddings happen regularly. It is easy to get to and downtown Olympia is only minutes away. Fantastic public recreation area.
Came up here for a wedding. This place is the PERFECT location for a small wedding on a budget. Lots of trails around for amazing photos and the gardens were still in bloom by beginning of September. We had great weather for the day, luckily. Plan B if it had rained was to do the ceremony under the giant picnic area, more than enough room. Theres a sink, electric outlets on site and public restrooms near by.
Heavenly forest filled with magic and healing. The trails are numerous. Keep your eyes peeled for fairies on the trail leading to the beach. Spectacular!
Great hike! Trails were not busy at the time we went. Love be outside with nature. Great beginners hike!
Love this place. Its the closest thing to a beach, or any chill water spot. I got here to think and be near the water. Look at all the boats, and one day be a boat person
Nice place for a short hike. Trails well maintained. Good view.
Clean water. Lots of parking (at least on the sunday we went), really nice.
Peaceful place to go to. Love all the trees. They have a path to where you can see the ocean. I recommend to go here early though like 9am. It gets busy sometimes at lunch or early afternoon.
What is a beautiful place many trails to walk on
Lots of trails to walk, beach access and electricity in the picnic shelters. Something for everyone
Priest Point Park is an enchanting place with 150 year old evergreen woods, Puget Sound Beaches and many miles of walking trails winding through it’s 340 acres. There are many kitchen sites with water and electricity for pick nicking, flower gardens and a children’s playground.
We had my daughters 4th birthday party here on June 8th. I also had her 1st birthday party here. They apparently remodeled the shelter that I reserved and I got confused when I pulled up and had to make sure since it was a complete teardown and rebuild. New grass, concrete and all. It was beautiful :) I love that they added like 8 more parking spots as well.
Nice little quiet place to take your family or go for a walk. There isnt much sand, mainly grass.
Such a fun park for kids and dogs. Theres a playground on the top or you can walk a few different paths to the water. Theres a little cave we always visit. Theres also shelters you can rent out either right next to the playground or a little further down.
Man...this place rules. Beautiful (short) trails. Amazing forests and access to the bay. Saw kingfishers and hawks!
Beautiful park with all maintained trails, easy access to the Sound, and an awesome playground in the middle of the woods for the youngins!
Great spot to escape the city to have a BBQ. That’s about it. Forest is beautiful. Nice place to walk. Beach is not pretty, not exactly a beach.
Big trees, decent trails, sadly few animal... but pretty cool
A lovely place Great park.beautiful
Loved the trails and the size in general, its beautiful and theres so much to do. Bring your kids to play at the play area, have a birthday party play at the beach area hike with your dog or s/o .... Its one of my favorite parks of Olympia period
We always love walking the trails at Priest Point with Buddha (our Springer Spaniel)! Always find them in great condition and well manicured, plus, definitely some of the best sunset views around!
Beautiful park, well maintained trails, and a fun playground for the kids
A wonderful place to enjoy the woods with your best friend!
Very quiet and peaceful park this time of year.. nice place to talk a walk..
Great place for nature trails, family picnics, great views of the inlet. Can be busy and there is always some jerk with their dog off lead even though is clearly posted dogs on leash only!!
Beautiful place to nature walk and take the kids. Or just a stroll by yourself! :) Community does a great job at keeping up on the park and the playground is pretty neat!
Walking through the park is absolutely beautiful. Really healthy looking forest that is kept up beautifully. But the beach access is saddening. There is SO much glass. I picked up a bunch of it while only there for less than an hour before high tide. There were dead baby fish, dead baby crabs, and dead shell fish even itty bitty baby shell fish. Strangely, there were giant brown blobs of goo that looked like mounds of broken glass. They werent jelly fish either. Not to mention the beach and the ocean in this area are toxic and hazardous with poisonous chemicals. I cant believe this is what has happened here. This was my first time visiting the beach access too. I couldnt stop crying. I had a bag and it was filled with glass and garbage. The picture doesnt even look as bad as it was.
Favorite park in Olympia
Great hike for the family and dogs.
A beautiful park to go eat your lunch.
Always beautiful, easy trails down to the water.
Plenty of hiking trails. Beautiful views of Puget Sound.
