Really cool place. I love history, and the basic ghost tour was worth the price. Leah was a great guide and was very personable. Drinks were good as well. Only downfall is the food is very expensive, so we didnt end up getting anything, although there were things on the menu that sounded awesome! Will go back for the 2.0 tour and the Cream City tour.
I always love coming to shakers. Its a great place to come and relax and enjoy some great wine and whiskey. I love that you can sit and enjoy a nice cigar and a drink at the bar. My wife doesnt like the smoking but she wasnt educated to the fact that there was smoking in the bar before booking the tour. I believe she left a bad review because she wasnt educated to the fact that it was a cigar bar. Me on the other hand I love the bar and have been coming there for many years and will still come there for many years to to come. Keep up the good work and the tour was awesome.
The atmosphere here cant be beat. Very comfortable, yet elegant lounge with clear care taken to display period-accurate pieces of decor (some of which was found within the building). I highly recommend the Ghost Tour if you are interested in Milwaukee history. The building and neighborhood have such an incredible past that is told by knowledgeable storytellers who will captivate you. Our particular tour guide was Brenna (I would ask for her when I go again) - we were shocked to learn she had only been working there a few months because she didnt skip a beat to answer all our questions and it was clear she had done her history research and knew the contents of the building inside and out. I would recommend this experience to both residents and visitors of Milwaukee because it is so unique.
This bar is a definite must for anyone who can appreciate a good cigar, a quality glass of alcohol and the fact that its haunted is a bonus! The ladies who took care of us are all amazing. My husband loves a good cigar, and good whiskey even more. He was in heaven, able to have both in one place. This was one of our first stops on our 3 day adventure in Milwaukee. The atmosphere was incredible. We will definitely be back on our next trip.
Ghost tour was so much fun. Leah, our guide, did a great job explaining the history of the building and the supernatural occurrences that have been experienced there. The bar is beautiful, old world design and decor, they also have a fantastic liquor selection and food menu. Check it out!
If youve never done the ghost tour I highly recommend you do it in the off season. (Nowhere near Halloween). The first time I went my group were the only people and our guide was great. We had plenty of time to ask questions, look around and get the full story. The second time was a week before Halloween. There were 4 groups totalling over 14 people. Though our guide was great, one group was drunk and ruining the experience for the rest of us.
This bar has one of the coolest aesthetics in the city. Its a great place to grab a drink and hang out with friends. Additionally, the building has a long history which leads to a fascinating ghost tour. Our tour guide was Elizabeth. I highly recommend her. Her passion for and experience with the supernatural is unparalleled. She brings history alive with her stories and gives you an opportunity to connect with the spirits.COVID 19 considerations: The building has a nice space for outdoor seating. Our tour guide wore her mask throughout the tour. I felt comfortable while wearing my mask indoors and there was plenty of space to social distance from our guide during the tour.
Me, my girlfriend, and my friend decided to go on the Cream City Cannibal Tour during a weekend visit to Milwaukee. I was apprehensive at first but decided it would be a unique experience and booked the tickets anyway. Kevin, our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the subject and was willing to answer any questions or correct any misconceptions we might have. The tour was really informative and definitely did not feel like a glorification of Dahmer or anything like that. We all agreed we were happy we went and would recommend it to anyone interested in true crime, history, or simply having a one-of-a-kind experience
Interesting place to say the least. A hidden gem. The ambience is very memorable and give the whole experience a different taste that youd normally expect. As the name suggests, this is a cigar bar and if you do not like the smell of cigar you might wanna consider another place. Theres not much smoke, as this place offers a front outside seating as well as rooftop seating. These open areas help reduce smoke to almost nonexistent but the strong smell of cigar will still be there. The service is great. Our bartender was very nice. Unfortunately she ended up charging my card twice (one of which was a completely wrong amount so it wasnt like it was a duplication error)We sat on the rooftop, which we were told is only open on weekends. The place was perfect. There was a small bar up there and the service was fast.We ordered a pizza. It was very good. One of the best. Definitely better than what you expect from a bar. We were impressed. The whole place is basically a museum. Going upstairs youll see different artifacts and decorations. Very interesting.Unfortunately, the rooftop requires going Nemours flights of stairs. Its a bit steep. Not very friendly for a person with mobility limitations.
Tour was awesome and reasonably priced. drinks on the other hand are unnecessarily expensive (13-15 +) for roughly 8oz. No prices on the menus either. The drinks are pretty good and its not a bad place at all
This place is awesome. Definitely worth a visit. Ask for Jen behind the bar for a new drink experience or take a haunted tour with the lovely Ellen, or possibly speak to Bob, the owener who is quite friendly and accommodating.
Spooky and charmingThe cigar bar of champions from the old daze and the known daysPlenty of fun and great conversationsIt always feels like deja Vu!
This place is awesome. Not only does it have a great look that brings you back in time, but the vibes and atmosphere is awesome and all the staff are very helpful and friendly. Then to brag even more about this place, I went on the 2.0 haunted tour and it was crazy!! I wont say too much about it because you HAVE to see it for yourself.
Loved this place. A very nice atmosphere. We took the tour. Brenna was the best tour guide you can have. She made you want to hear the whole story.
Creepy cool vibe with some many cool things to look at. Will definitely be back!
Very cool old style bar inside. The Cajun meatballs were great. Probably a better place to grab a drink than eat.
We went here on Halloween night.Loved the atmosphere and live music! Great service too
Lori, as always, was so charming and kind. Suggested the Bernice pizza to satisfy our appetites. Braden made a fantastic Rum punch because Angela wanted her to use her skills for a great refreshing Sunday Funday cocktail. She has mad bartending skills. Definitely enjoying the Shakers ambience. Thanks to babaloo for all these years of friendship
The girlfriend and I werent very excited about this place. The food is only so-so and this place is not haunted. Nice try but no cigar.
Went for the haunted tour. Had signs everywhere for please wear a mask and please keep 6 feet from another. I was lucky to have 1-2 inches between people during the tour and in the bar for the tour. And if you have any respiratory issues dont go, lots of cigar smoke in the bar as well(one of our friends who was with has severe asthma)Wasnt aware this bar got grand fathered into being able to continue smoking. And not to mention the tour guide leah (who may have been intoxicated of some sort during our tour) was also smoking a cigar and not once wore her mask during the whole tour. It was like being trapped in a sardine can when covid is happening. If i would have known i would have NEVER bought these tickets. And they are nonrefundable. I am extremely upset.
One of the last places on Earth you can enjoy a cigar or pipe indoors comfortably
It was a great tour. Kevin was nice, patient, friendly and interested in personal ghost stories also. Would love to hang out at Shakers Cigar Bar just for the friendly atmosphere also. Had an amazing experience on the Shakers 2.0 tour. Kevin- thanks and hope to see you in a few months for another question and answer sesh.
Staff and atmosphere was fantastic as well. We are.from out of town but will definitely be back when in the area again.
Loved this place. A very nice atmosphere. We took the tour. Brenna was the best tour guide you can have. She made you want to hear the whole story.
Awsome service had a blast on ghost tour molly took great care of me;)
Ive been there twice in less than a week. Perfect place for a romantic dinner.
This bar is the Gem of Milwaukee. They have amazing food, staff and atmosphere! Brenna gave us the most spooktacular haunted tour of the whole place, from OConnors basement to Mollys attic.
Great place with a lot of history! Drinks are made well and they have a decent cigar collection. You are allowed to smoke cigars inside, so obviously there will be a lot of smoke in the air. If you dont smoke, this might be a problem for you but if you can handle the smell and the thick air, its worth a trip to visit this place! Definitely check out the ghost tour 2.0 - its really a lot of fun and will give you the chills for sure.
My daughter and I spent the night in the Penthouse at Shakers for my birthday last weekend. The room was comfortable and relaxing, but we didnt get frightened off and we managed to stay until morning. We did hear the creaking of the floorboards in other rooms while we were watching a movie and playing cards in the bedroom, the gate on the stairs slammed around 3:30, but I did not go check to find out why.I also heard what sounded like how police pound on the door in tv shows or in the movies coming from the second floor around 5:30 when the sun was coming up, but there was definitely no one down there. It was a fun experience and I am happy to have been able to do it. Thank you Bob and the Shakers staff for giving me a memorable birthday experience.
I recommend Shakers highly. I stop in regularly and always feel welcome. The eclectic cuisine is consistently delicious. My oldest daughter has now joined me a couple times, and is a fan as well. Bartenders and tour guides have been amazing. Katie is particularly charming, and it is an absolute joy to converse with her. You also meet the most interesting and generous people there, from near and far. A most friendly person I had just met, Donovan, picked up my bar tab last night, for example. Couldnt believe it -- but Shakers is that kind of place, where the unexpected can and does happen. Also the late 19th Century building, with its dodgy and haunted history, is an ideal location for ghost tours, tarot, and palm readings. And yes, of course, also cigars and the other kind of spirits. Superlatives for Shakers!
First, this is a Cigar bar. There are people smoking Cigars here(grandfathered in from the smoking ban). If smoking is not your thing BE WARNED. Second this is a high end $$$ drinking establishment in an historical atmosphere. They claim it is haunted, and they have tours. This kinda adds to the fun.The Thursday night house band carries you back to the forgotten era before the great war. We arrived a bit early and they had a complementary wild boar taco bar. This may have been because it Wednesday before Thanksgiving. The food was excellent. They have a menu with some different flavors and it changes frequently. If you enjoy a good cigar, or dont mind the smoke for a night. Check out this unique, historical, Milwaukee experience.
Great place, good place to relax and just have a good time, assume whiskey sour and cigar only thing theres a girl there that waited on me and my friends name kat and she was great, she took such great care of us, sad though, what I hear she only works Friday nights, shame shes great gal.
Marley gave a great tour very explanatory and knowledgeable. I am spooked and hoped I didnt get possessed.
Absolute perfect steak experience. Superb service. Nice atmosphere.
Food Id always Amazing, and the staff is always friendly! Love this place!.
Such a cool place. Great service, thanks Lauri! Had bottle wine and hummus. Delightful. Tour guide Marley was amazing. Pretty calm. Spirits were shy. But the history is so interesting. I recommend this place 5 stars. If you do t like smoke though this is not for you. We are smokers and it was cool to be able to kick back and enjoy. Ventilation is very good though.
We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant. The decorations and the vibe were fantastic.
An absolutely fun fabulous place to go for a cigar and a drink. The atmosphere is (other than smokey) very fun and period specific to the later 1800s.The menu is small but it changes regularly and the food has always been fantastic for me. They have a great bar offering, however, it is not the normal spirits and wines. These will be vintage and boutique drinks that you may not recognize. To me this is even better than usual drink list. Finally, the cigar selection is small but good. Everything they have is good and you will not be disappointed.I know the location is also supposed to be haunted and has a tour, however, I have not been on it yet.
Hit it! Try the alligator etouffee. Dont forget the ghost tour after dinner.
Great atmosphere, stories and history, very personable and friendly staff!!
Best place to eat, happiest most friendly staff.
Very attentive staff and festive decor.
Love this bar! Cigars, Beer, Whiskey and Ghosts!
Good service..filet and red beans and rice was outstanding
Food was fast, hot, incredible and worth the price. You just have to go there to experience it yourself.
Great place with excellent service! A must visit place!
OMG. Superb food. TRY THE CAJUN MEATBALLS if you like it with a bit of a kick. Sophistication without taking itself too serious. Great cigar selection, at least in my humble noob opinion. And lastly, great cocktails.
The staff was extremely friendly and the food was great.
Good pizza a d dog friendly patio! Win-win
Cool old building to come and relax and smoke a cigar. Cigar selection is quite small but the atmosphere is what is nice. Outside patio also.
Live down street and we thought we would stop in to try their Bloody Marys. Disappointed. We were told a few minutes because they werent supposed to be open. $24 and 30 minutes later we have vodka and tomatoe juice garnished with a lemon and lime wedge. The bartender was swearing and complaining about people thinking they were open when they werent supposed to be. Not a good experience and wont be back for bloodies.Edit: Due to managements excellent response, I am changing my rating to four stars. Thank you!
Tonight June, 25 2019 I went to Shakers cigar bar! I was not there to drink or smoke, I was there with my dad and sister and we went there for the amazing Cajun cuisine! It was phenomenal and worth going there again! Also to top off the great food they also have a very nice selection of dessert! But To REALLY top all that delicious food, Shakers is famous for being haunted. Shakers gives 4 or 5 ghost tours! The ghost tours give you background knowledge on why Shakers is haunted. My dad, sister and I did the basic ghost tour. The most mild one. But there is a more extreme ghost tour which is ghost tour 2.0 and there’s more tours, but I don’t know the names of them. But if you are looking for a good time and a place to hang with your friends or family, you should definitely go to Shakers Cigar Bar. You don’t have to smoke there but you can if you want, but I do recommend Shakers and there amazing food and ghost tours! Enjoy your time at Shakers!
Drinking spirits with the spirits! Loved it!!
Aundrae and Lori were the best servers I’ve ever had. This business is just not comparable to any other. Come enjoy a cigar and a beer at complete leisure.
Very cool spot. Lots of history
We reside in a south suburb of Chicago and started visiting Shakers Cigar Bar about 8 years ago during one of our many weekend getaways to Milwaukee. We googled haunted places and luckily came across this gem. I cant say enough about this place and come back once a year. Its always a hit with anyone new we bring. They offer everything from haunted ghost tours, food and home made pizza. My absolute favorite is the many different Absinthe cocktails! You never know what to expect. Sometimes there is a medium or psychic, a band or a friendly ghost hitting on you at the bar. The cigar selection is filled with your standard selections to some rare or new to you stogies unique to the area. This place is filled with history. I highly recommend taking the 2.0 haunted tour. The owner is always there making sure everyone is having a good time. Im assuming he must be a great to work for because I see the same employees (and ghosts) year after year. After working a huge portion of my life in restaurants you know thats a good sign. I promise Im not getting paid to write this review nor did anyone ask me to lol. I just like sharing the fun! Seriously, stop at Shakers Cigar Bar if youre in town or passing through. If you dont love it then maybe you might enjoy another boring brewery tour.
Last minute addition to our weekend getaway. Worth the money! If you like the supernatural, this is a must!
This is a milwaukee fave of mine. Great drinks and good cigar options. I am positive the food menu is amazing, but I dont eat and smoke. I will come here regularly! The staff has amazing personalities and are very well mannered. A must visit if your in the area!
Great place for cigars and drinks. Awesome ambience. Highly recommend. Also great food.
I CANNOT WAIT TO VISIT AGAIN AND STAY OVERNIGHT!!!! Ask for MARISSA to be your tour guide. Shes ACES! Bob, the proprietor, is GENIUS and such a remarkably grand host. Thanks for the absinthe Bob!!
Love Alexandra and Gabbi they are the best!! Great service with a smile...always remember us even if its been a while or a week or whatever. They the BEST!! And Brianna too! Always showing love a great time and awesome service...!!Back again on 10/19/2019 Everything was great as usual. Had some new dishes and they were awesome. I Love this place! Never had a bad time here. Thanks go out to the owner, Gabbi and Brianna(Shakettes) always a pleasure.
Great place in a super creepy old building. Service was great & staff were wonderful. Will definitely be coming back again.
Such a great bar! Did the ghost tour and our guide was amazing! She really knew her cigars and history of the place!
Spooky atmosphere, great music, fun history.
Cigars and drinks are overpriced. Less than $10 retail sticks marked up to $30. Love the atmosphere, hate the prices.
Great atmosphere. Interesting history. Said to be haunted. Not a wide selection of cigars, but, had a good time.
This is a Cigar Bar! Its smokey and drinks arent cheap. But its WELL WORTH it for the great atmosphere.Honestly, my only wish is that the humidor was larger.Ill certainly be back to catch the house band.
We did not take the tour. However, we did enjoy two very good cigars in the comfortable vintage sitting area in the sunshine on a gorgeous day. I fell in love with the atmosphere. On a Wednesday evening there were not many customers and we had the sitting area to ourselves. It was starting to get busy as we were finishing up. The bartender was sweet and friendly, making some great local recommendations. Yes- pricey is the common theme of the reviews but we would make the purchases all over again. In fact, this place alone feels like a return trip to Milwaukee would be worth it!
Amazing place truly a one of a kind experience
Loved the ghost tours
Ive been going here for 15 years great food drinks and service. But dont forget the little ghost girl in the womans bathroom please bring her a green apple and leave it In the bathroom she keeps asking me for one and I always forget
Great food! Really nice casual atmosphere. Good selection of cigars. Ill definitely come back.
Visited last week Saturday and was very disappointed with the tour. Our tour was supposed to start at 9 and was 20 minutes late. The tour guide seemed overwhelmed with how busy it was. He didn’t have much to say about the three things we stopped to look at. Overall it was just boring and not worth the money. Another member of the group has done it before and said it was great. Maybe it was just the guide.
What a great place to go smoke a good cigar and relax and have a drink . The food was delicious and I enjoyed myself listen to the live band . I most certainly will be back very soon ..
I always remember a good spot to smoke a cigar indoors, this is one of them. Take your time here nice chill atmosphere. I dont like to be in a hurry with a cigar. I would however like to see a better deal on some of the cigars sold there.
Neat place, good history. Fantastic cigars and the staff is super friendly.
Most people complain it’s too expensive. They are making craft cocktails, so I’m fine with the price. I think it’s a great place historically and its in a great neighborhood. As far as the ghost stuff... eh.
Been to a lot of bars before. Never found one as awesome as Shakers.
Was pretty interesting to say the least. Fun to go once on halloween (for the haunted tour)
The atmosphere is stellar. The food amazing! Fine selection of drinks and great variety of cigars. The tour is informative and an experience in itself.
My first time visiting Shakers, and it exceeded all of my expectations! The food is AMAZING...I would highly recommend their Cuban pizza! The staff is so friendly and helpful, and the ghost tour was really interesting. Theres so much history in that building. We didnt have any paranormal experiences, but maybe next time!
I love the place I will recommend it
It was good as far as the cigar experience but the service lacked. No food because I sat there for 15 minutes and missed the kitchen . Then the server finally came over to the table and said if a bigger party came we would have to move . Not a great server place to get service for food
Nice place to smoke bring your own cigars though. They charge 2X normal and have a tiny selection. Ghost tour was meh.
A great cigar bar! The selection of cigars is varied and wide. A full bar and the pizza is terrific! This is an old-fashioned place with an old time, antique atmosphere of yesteryear. Just make sure you enjoy the smell of cigar smoke!!!
Best food ever. The waitress was great with all the history and haunted history. It is a must stop when in Milwaukee.
Had a wonderful time last evening during our 2.0 tour. Learning the dark history about this property was exciting. Looking fwd to doing the other tours and perhaps an overnight experience.
