I love going zoo with my daughter. Milwaukee zoo is Large zoo with lot of animals. They have tons of fun things to do. Even in the covid situations we had lot of fun. Other then animals they have fun kids train, play area, farm animal and all. Right place to visit with kids
I love going to the zoo in each city and Milwaukee has a nice one! Im from St. Louis and ours is pretty similar when it comes to the animals, but what makes St. Louis infinitely better is that it is free! I definitely loved how close you could get to the leopard when he sits in the window at the Milwaukee zoo though.
Weather was fantastic, but still a building or two was not open. Hopefully by spring things will be better with the pandemic and we can get back to normal. Always great to see the animals.
The Milwaukee Zoo was great even though this whole COVID thing is messing everything up, we still had a great time. People actually listened to the rules and the animals were awesome. My favorite was the Tiger.
You pay a hefty fee to park and get in. Usually worth the price. On Sunday we got to risk our lives as almost nobody was wearing a mask. It doesnt count as wearing a mask if it is pulled down to your chin. Where were the workers who should have been around doing some rule enforcement? Poor management!
I am here in Wisconsin on a business trip. I am from Illinois and I would frequently visit Brookfield zoo. But Milwaukee County Zoo Was So Great. I enjoyed myself tremendously!! The staff was Very engaging and Social Distancing was followed. And there was hand sanitizer everywhere. Thumbs Up Experience
Very nice zoo. Not nearly as big as Brookfield zoo but very nice layout with lots of green space. Turkeys and peacocks walk around. Because of Covid-19 not everything was open but we had a good time.
Even after countless field trips as a kid and now chaperoning for my kids the zoo still has so much to discover! There have been new habitats built and even the older ones. Its still exciting when the tigers come out to play! Come prepaid for the weather and plan on having a good time. If its spring-early fall dont forget your bug repellent. The kids will be worn out and ready for a nap as soon as you get back to the car
It would be nice to receive a map indicating the entrance and exit of the viewable buildings. For example the big cat building pre Covid19 had a few entrance/exits. I walked up to one of these former entrance/exits and could not enter; it was exit only. I tried the next entrance/exit and access was closed. The third entrance/exit was the now entrance only. It was frustrating! A map clearly marking the entrance and one way traffic would make the experience more enjoyable and easier to navigate.
Really enjoyed the Covid safety measures, but I wish we knew beforehand which exhibits are not currently open. We where excited about the small mammals exhibit, but sad to see it closed.
Always fun to go. But not nowadays. I wouldnt go. They closed off almost all the exhibits even some outside. Might as well just go to walk.
I thought the train ride through the zoo was really fun. The exhibits were beautiful. Loved seeing all the animals. I was sad though that the Big Cat exhibits and Monkey exhibits were closed. Brought 2 kids under 3 and they had a blast. Food was kind of expensive. All together we had a great time.
Helpful staff. The animals seem very content and well taken care of. Park grounds are clean. While not everything is open right now because of quarantine restrictions, great option to spend a sunny day if you need some out of doors time.
First time there today. Very nice zoo. The Dinosaur exhibit was awesome. The hippo was really neat too. My kids definitely enjoyed the day there. Lastly the train ride is very relaxing. We will definitely be back!!! 5 stars for sure!!!
Peaceful and followed most of Covid rules. Had slhand sanitizer at multiple places and limiting number of people entering closed spaces. Zoo is big so you can easily follow 6 ft distance.
The Zoo was so fun. We had so much fun with friends and family. We love seeing all the animals. 100% recommend taking a nice quiet family strollDaug
I always enjoy visiting the Milwaukee county zoo and watching all and any of the animals. The zoos lake is nice to look at and walk by. The train ride is always worth going on when visiting
Wonderful environment with well cared for, healthy animals. Grand daughters (and us older folks) loved getting up close to monkeys, leopards, native fish.Very cool to be able to observe baby baboon, giraffe. Staff did a fine job of ensuring safe and well cleaned property. Thankyou, we are already planner next visit!
Even rainy and during COVID there is plenty to see. Love the predator / prey setup. The new elephant enclosure is awesome!
We were so excited to go. My 13 month old grand daughter was raring to go. Well keep your money. We saw birds and penguins. Everywhere we went, no animals. We walked everywhere and finally my grand daughter fell asleep from boredom. After 3 hours we left. At least for now, keep your money.
Even with slow reopen, worth the visit. Only saw one family obviously not wearing masks. Multiple bathrooms and food stands open. The animals even are more interactive, like they missed human interaction!
We had free tickets to visit and we had the day off. A lot of the animals were indoors and building capacity was limited. Some of the exhibits were closed. Was a bit chilly so dress appropriately.
Large zoo with lots of animals and one of the best elephant exhibits I have ever seen. Tons to do for children, including a farm, good food, and an enormous playground. Theyve done a great job reopening during Covid, keeping things clean and following social distancing and mask guidelines. Dont miss the steam train for kids and feeding the sea lions.
My husband and I had a great time! We biked the Hank Aaron trail to get there (about 10 miles from downtown). The animals were fun to see, some of them were loud! The facilities were very well maintained.
This place is awesome! Spectacular! Ive been to a lot of zoos and Milwaukee zoo is definitely in the top five.
Affordable, and clean, easy to social distance. Some of the exhibits and food stations remained closed, but there was still a decent amount of animals out, and one concession stand open. Overall we enjoyed ourselves and plan to revisit before the cold sets in.
Love the Dinosaur attraction, the penguin, giraffe and Rhino. All indoor closed due to Covid 19, prices should be 3/4. As military got no discount 3th of July. Enjoyed the 2 hours walk.
Had a fantastic visit at the zoo with my kids yesterday. All buildings were open other than the cat building. The petting zoo was also closed. Everyone was wearing masks and there was certainly enough space for everyone. My kids really enjoyed feeding the sea lions and the special dinosaur exhibit was great. The new hippo exhibit and elephant exhibit were great. I felt it was well worth the money we paid and will be back in the Fall.
Didnt have all the animals out right now which is understandable. The animals that were out were very inquisitive and fun!
We drove there on Saturday to try and cheer my son up. $63.00 for entry and parking. Went to see the gorillas they were closed for cleaning, as were the Bonobos. Had wanted to see the fish and reptiles also closed. He wanted to go in with the goats closed for the season. Everything he wanted to see or do was closed. Really disappointing to say the least. We drove 95 minutes each way as he wanted to go to your Zoo. Total waste of time and money. It would be great if on weekends exhibits could be cleaned during times your CLOSED!!!
Covid had a bunch of exhibits closed. For the most part, animals were out. Fairly clean.
The scenery was beautiful - trees everywhere. The reason I was so disappointed is because most of the main exhibits were closed and they really dont have a big variety of animals. Their website does mention that some exhibits are closed but doesnt specify which ones. I suspect that they purposefully dont tell which ones because then no one will visit.
My favorite zoo. Been going here for 35 years. For the past 12 years now, I buy a family pass and bring my son here. Its great just for exercise and in all weather conditions. The new elephant exhibit looks great! Hopefully the Hippo remodel wont be such a flop like the last renovation. Been a while for the big cats remodel but its still worth mentioning. I do miss the kangaroos. And the reptiles and fish could use some updates. Id like to see that little electronic game/map I think in the fish building working. Its been about 15 years+. Picture taking is always fun and challenging. Still a few animals I havent gotten a good photo of all these years...
Really nice zoo! Very clean, not crazy expensive, and lots of fun.
The new Hippo exhibit is awesome. The close up view is amazing.
Was disappointed. Understandably due to covid-19 many of the attractions and buildings were closed. However I was disappointed that many of the animals were not on display even in their outdoor habitats. Still got a good workout walking around.
Reserved our space online, arrived on time and it took about 20 minutes to get into parking (On a Tuesday morning). Really pretty empty, everyone was super considerate and spaced out.. Dinosaur exhibit was well worth the $3 per person. Playground was open but almost nobody was using it. Train was running as well which made my kids super happy.
The new exhibits are really cool for both kids and parents. Its nice to see some newness to our zoo. Also a few animals also have babies which was also cool to see. Was disappointed to in the limited food options open and available. Also, bring lots of water, as the water fountains are all blocked off with plastic.
This zoo is a great place to just spend the day with the family. There are endless possibilities for wha though can do at the zoo. You can go see the animal, enjoy the sky tram, get some food, or just visit the shop. It’s a great place for your kids to just unwind and have some fun.
The best place to teach your child! The place is very huge and the staffs are very knowledgeable to the types on animals that they have in this zoo. My children enjoy the time of staying here!
Loved how the zoo was set up and its awesome being able to see elephants and other animals the mn zoo doesnt have! Not too far away so the kids were able to see animals theyve never seen before in mn
Nice. Not many animals on display. Train is cute. Staff is ok. Great place to walk around for exercise.
Huge space, lots of exhibitions. Several food stalls, vending machines, nice cable car, gift shop and playground.
Good price but there were a lot of closed or empty animal exhibits outside. However, we loved the indoor exhibits with the fish and reptiles! The lions and the tiger exhibits were awesome too. They were active and made for great entertainment. Definitely worth going to because you can see the animals up close.
We had a wonderful time here. Spent about six and a half hours. We saw every exhibit they had to offer. Watched elephants eat watermelons, otters swim with rocks on their heads, bears sleeping on hammocks, birds doing loops, peacocks, lions, giraffes, a huge aquarium area, this place has them all. The staff was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Had a couple cheeseburgers that were very tasty. There are enough indoor and shaded areas to keep you out of the sun if you get too hot. A great experience, and were looking forward to doing it again sometime.
Great family day... Loved the dinosaur
Very clean and well kept zoo. Lots of space to keep socially distant during these times. A great afternoon for the family.
My kids and I have loved this zoo for years. Its always nice and clean, the park is a really nice size, and the shows are very informative.
Hello! Rated 2 stars primarily due to lack of enforcement of mask mandate within the zoo area. People were walking, standing in lines without adequate distance without masks everywhere and there was not a single zoo worker asking them to put on a mask. The other place for improvement is signage/directions which are not very clear. Otherwise, its a good place to hang out, kids love it, and has some decent exhibits. They were spraying and cleaning the train ride very well and provided hand sanitizers at multiple locations.
Patti the hippo looked very happy in the new hippo haven, and Happy was relaxing inside.
Unfortunate that animals are kept in Zoos but a lot can be learned from direct interaction. Its important on how its done. I love animals, that saying, doesnt mean I know whats best. Looks like the Milwaukee County Zoo does and is doing a great job.
Perfect place for the family. I really enjoyed the family farm area and the train ride!
Had a great time with the family on Family Free Day, what a great zoo!
Always a good time but many animals were not available for viewing. This seems to be the case frequently. Still an awesome zoo which is why we have a zoo pass!
Love the attractions. The aquatic center is great, the bird house is great, they have land animals both big and small. Its a really fun time. Also, their fast food is better than youd expect. However, their Covid practices are a bit excessive. The park closed at 3pm the weekend we were there for some reason (there were plenty of people there even at closing), and there were a number of areas like the monkey house that were closed off. Also, whats with the strange time schedule for the Halloween event? Just keep the park open all day and limit the amount of visitors that come in. As it is this year, they have two very short time blocks you can be in the park. Kind of disappointing.
Who doesnt love the zoo!!! I would come with my boys all the time when they were little but they laugh at me now because I still go to see the animals even though their grown up now! Such great memories to!!!
Awesome place for individuals or the whole family, you can go and have some popcorn a soda or a beer and walk to discover the variety of animals at you own pace.Great for small kids who can enjoy discovering new things.
What a great zoo! Surprised me on how well kept the zoo was, they take great care to make the animal habitats spacious and clean. The size of the zoo is not overwhelming, a good walk for a day trip with kids. The zoo is very family friendly, multiple nursing facilities for new moms, restrooms located around every corner, multiple restaurants, what else can I say....One of the best zoos I’ve been to recently!
It was a nice and relaxed atmosphere with much less people than normal.
Great visit @ the zoo today! Social distancing measures in place, clean grounds and most animals and exhibits were open or available to see. Great job, yall!!
Spent a beautiful day with the grand kidsEnjoying our zoo. Loved every minute. The new dinasor exhibit was fun.
First time at the zoo this year. Was really looking forward to seeing the hippo but had to leave disappointed.
Entrance is touch free as long as you have your membership card. Mornings are great as fewer folks are there. Take some cold juice boxes & a cold snack and I recommend keeping the visit to an hour.
It was great!! Animals were out and the Halloween decorations were unbelievable!! Loved every minute of it..
This zoo has such great ways to see the animals. New elephant and hippo habitats are awesome. This is a great place for the family. Lovely park setting.
This is a real nice zoo with a good selection of animals. The food has a good variety and is reasonably priced. They are handling social distancing well, up until the gift shop where in was never more than 3ft from anyone else. The main problems with the zoo is the constant traffic noise being so close to the highway, and indoor exhibits being relatively run down.
I had an amazing time with my son and my husband the staff was so respectful and helpful will absolutely be coming back again.
What a wonderful place to go to forget the stresses of the pandemic. Love the new hippo house!
Super nice places for family and kids!
I love the zoo and I love how clean they are however I do not like that the last visit I had which was in October for a conference, that the zebras were outside and they were so cold that they were huddled together and you could literally see them shivering. I am a HUGE animal lover and this made me sick to my stomach. The lion looked very irritated that people were staring at them so he kept trying to hide. I will say that the zookeepers her definitely keep the jnvlosures clean and keep them fed. Another thing that infuriated me was how sad the Orangutan was and how lonely and the fact that the poor thing was just laying there looking at us and didn’t wanna move was just heart wrenching
Great place. Lot closed right now though. Which means way more people at the places that are open. Not great service.
So much of the zoo was closed off or just not open. I went to see the animals not to see locked buildings or empty cages. It was not worth the money for what I actually saw. It definitely let me down. I wish I would have known that before I went. They need to open it up and bring the animals back so people can actually see and enjoy them like we should be able to do at a zoo. Thumbs down.
Great place to spend a Saturday with the family. Grounds kept nice and clean. Great assortment of all types of animals to satisfy the interest of the young just as well as the old. Lots of internal shelters to keep you and some of the other animals out of inclement weather. Nice gift shop and restaurant to round out the experience. If you find this review helpful or enjoyed the photos a like of this review would be greatly appreciated. Enjoy!
Love the walks around the park and looking at all the animals. Its a nice walk and friendly staffs
Very fun for the family. My daughter loves the monkeys. Cant wait to go back
Very Disappointed at how many animals are gone! Lots were empty and when I asked workers what happened they had no idea. I understand Covid is still pushing things down but if I am paying to see animals I should be able to or let me know ahead of time
We love the zoo and have a membership. The membership is totally worth it and pays for itself within just a few visits if you plan yo go multiple times. It is a great way to run off some energy and learn about the animals.
Great place to go with the family. Easy in and out. Can bring in water and snacks. Very nice grounds. Animals are spread out just right. Can enjoy the whole zoo in one day.
Good outdoor activity for family and children. Some buildings and areas still closed. Needs updating.
Great family day at the zoo! Clean facilities, friendly staff, and lovely animals. Lunch at the cafe was reasonably priced and fed the whole family. Ice cream was also delicious at the dairy farm area. Now, if only theyd create an enclosure for our wild animal 2 yr old!
Had a wonderful time at the zoo. My grandsons especially enjoyed the dinosaur exhibit
I didn’t expect Milwaukee zoo to be so interesting. Lots of animals from all over the world. Beautiful and clean. It worth 3-4 hours of your weekend. The only thing I didn’t like was food there. Too much fast food and no healthy options.
Loved this zoo!! Only zoo nearby with elephants which made my oldest daughter ecstatic! Such a fun place to visit.
Wevebeen 3x and still havent seen it all. THE. BEST. ZOO. IVE. EVER. BEEN. TO. Nice people, beautiful grounds, good food. Its a winner.
Great place for social distancing, still very fun even without some attractions unavailable. Staff seemed very happy to be working there. Overall a wonderful experience.
The Dino Experience never a disappointment!
Excellent price, display of animals and great to take your family to have a wonderful time together. The prices are acceptable. I highly recommend it.
This is truly a lovely zoo. During our last visit they were in the middle of a number of projects to improve or completely rebuild habitats for the animals. All the animals are well taken care of and clean. Take the train ride!
Beautiful zoo with a great collection of animals. The keepers always have really cool enrichment items out and its fun to see the animals interacting with them. Always happy with my visits here.
Our country zoo is great. Timely advice for covid-19 times: call ahead or visit the info desk to find out whats on display and whats closed off.
We own a zoo membership and love it.Of course we have 3 kids so its with the price. We go multiple times each summer and all year round.Good healthy animals to see and prices for drinks are not ridiculous especially once you get refills with the souvenir cup.And the dinosaur exhibit right now is cool.
Definitely worth the price! Spent 3 hours and still didnt see everything! Loved the exhibits even with some construction going on it was great!
Great to be back at the zoo. They do a phenomenal job of making sure everyone is social distancing. Kids love going back to the zoo!
Milwaukee zoo is very nice and have a great display of animals. However, it’s expensive. Parking, entrance, rides fiddling the animals can be over $100 for a family of 4. If you are planning to visit the zoo more than one time with your family, you probably will be better buying the zoo pass.I don’t have one because I don’t leave in Milwaukee but I know people who does and enjoy using it often.
New hippo habitat provides a great view of the hippo. Easy to social distance with reduced attendance. Friendly staff. Will be back when the tempature is cooler. Nice place for a walk. Recommend the zoo pass for people living in the area.
This is the third time I come here in three years in a row and they always have closed some exhibitions like Monkeys, Gorillas, elephant, petting zoo... all of these were closed. I would expect to at least see a reduction in the price because you cannot access to all the animals. Also $12 for the parking is too much. Some facilities are very old and need urgent remodeling.i feel bad for the animals living there. Despise these things my little one had fun. But I still think I pay too much for what they offer.
Few buildings open and many animals off exhibit. Masks not worn consistently. Even the new dinosaur exhibit closed This visit was not worthwhile.
