It was a very tall building for its time. Equivalent to 35 stories today. Perhaps one of the most impressive City Halls in America.

Have quite enjoyed coming here. The tour was informative. Office workers are wonderfully knowledgeable. Saw news folks and even the mayor in passing (next time maybe he wont be going to a meeting haha). Just saw the tree for the holidays. Clean, and grand. Happy to of been invited. Sure Ill be back soon

So if you are walking around downtown Milwaukee I recommend that you seriously consider going by the Milwaukee city hall. It is definitely an imposing structure and you should definitely see it. It is well-designed and has very much architectural appeal, it anchors the cities design.Make sure you go inside and check out how the interior is designed, truly breathtaking and amazing. If you love architecture, dont miss this.

If you are visiting downtown and have 30 minutes to spare, a quick trip into Milwaukee City is worth the investment of your time. While there are no regularly scheduled tours, you can contact the citys Public Information Manager to arrange a formal tour. The eight-story open atrium is what will initially catch your eye and creates some fascinating photo ops. Other interesting features include the extensive mosaic and marble floors (more than 45,000 square feet), the intricate metalwork on the railings ringing the atrium, the multitude of cherubs gracing the buildings Flemish Renaissance-influenced architecture. The bathrooms are clean and spacious, making City Hall a useful location when in need of a quick pit stop.

If touring Milwaukee, a stop at the city hall is worth the trip. The building was completed in 1895 and at the time was the second tallest structure in the U.S. (only the Washington Monument was taller). The architecture was considered extremely advanced at the time as the building is triangular in shape. The bell tower has been used as a symbol for Milwaukee for decades. There are stories that there was an underground tunnel that led to several other buildings including an after hours ‘house of entertainment’. There are many tunnels under the city (including under city hall) whether these led to the rumored places has not been confirmed.

This beautiful city hall was built in the late 1800s. At one time this was the tallest building in the area. They built this one right. You must see inside.
