We really missed Little Tokyo and had to drive up for the day/night. We were so glad to see some of the restaurants open with seating outside and distanced; but, the wait was a little long.We always go on the weekends when street parking is free otherwise, parking gets costly during the week. Once you do park and walk through the alleys, youll see all the beautiful painted murals.
Little Tokyo is awesome!!! Why? Because my experience was amazing! My wife and I boarded a train from San Bernardino to L.A. union station at around 10 in the morning. The train ride takes about an hour. We got to L.A. at around 11. We first went to China town and it was alright. Little Tokyo was next. Omg was it amazing!!! It reminded if Asia so much.
Great place to explore! A lot of restaurants to eat from and many shops to buy stuff (especially from Japanese culture).Be sure to stop by!
Super cute place. They have some great food options and nice little shops.
I usually like this place (deserves 4 stars) on a Saturday but during a pandemic this place is a mess. I disliked how congested everywhere you go in Little Tokyo is. There is no social distancing when lining up to get into most places and the outdoor dining looked like chicken coops. The worst area is the Japanese Village Plaza. If you have a fear of being infected w/ covid-19 please be careful. There is a mass amount of young people here who need to be monitored w/ pandemic protocols which I saw none of anywhere. I walked Downtown L.A. for about 4 hours and Little Tokyo was the most crowded part.
Its a cute little place to visit ^.^
Extremely elegant town in the middle of Los Angeles. In the hustle and bustle of the huge city, you wouldnt expect to walk into a corner piece from the heart of Japan. The architecture, the people and the food and goods are all japanese in roots. Its much better than the Chinatown here in LA and even better appealing than the Chinatown in San Francisco! Came back for another visit the very next day. A must see when you come to LA.
Little Tokyo is a beautiful place with such good food!
Nice place to walk and eat.
I love Little Tokyo, many japanese foods and snacks to enjoy & japanese imports to buy. Great for families to visit or dates or just by yourself, its really nice, especially in the evening because the lights glow.I hate that I dont remember all the store names though or I would give them each a review. I only remember Fugetsu Do, they make cute japanese sweets and have a lot to choose from in their little store. Id recommend trying a little treat from them.Spending here does add up quickly so dont try to buy everything at once, Ill go for dinner or lunch one day, snacks on another visit and to buy gifts on another. LolAlso look around before you settle on buying something, I saw the exact same stuffed animal at $24 in one store and down the way it was $14 in another shop so keep this in mind...
Some japanese shops and restaurants as well as a small super market. Worth a visit if you are close but not very special.
I LOVE Little Tokyo. the shops and restaurants are amazing. the atmosphere is lively and colorful. it really makes you feel like you were transported into the heart of Tokyo. theres so much to do and so much to see. youd be a fool not to come see this place, especially at night when its lit up. make sure to validate your ticket
Good food, good shopping, good feeling. The Little Tokyo may be not the really Japanese style, but it really worth a look, while you travel to Los Angeles!
A Must Visit Place in LA downtownWonderful little town in the heart of L.A. downtown. Truly wonderful place to eat, shop or visit if you want to experience some Japanese culture.A must place for me and I am feeling very comfortable to suggest this place to anyone.Love all the restaurants and shops in the Japanese Village Plaza.
Enjoyed it. Too bad there wasn’t more stores.
Besides the overpriced souvenirs, you are able to find a bunch of Japanese skin care products and cosmetics. Be careful shopping there, you might go savage spending too much money on those. Lol.
Awesome! A touch of Japan in the States!
Food is great . but all the stores treat you like your gonna rob the place no matter who you are. It makes the shopping experience annoying but they still get 4 stars because the food is worth putting up with it. Especially the curry man buns
My friends went crazy when they saw theres a Sario store here. Overall this place gave a good vibe with many Japanese décor. The prices for most items in stores were reasonable. Too bad that the lines for few of the ramen restaurants were way too long and we didnt want to wait.
Very beautiful place, calm and nice. Shops there are amazing. For me its the best part of whole town. And We had so amazing vegan donuts there ️
100% my favorite place to go for a day trip. Make sure you check out Kura Sushi, Bae ice cream, fickle wish & Sanrio. Also, the Japanese market is great for bringing home snacks/groceries.
I love to shopping
I like coming here walk around and get snacks. There are some good restaurants around this area that you can walk to too, like the famous ramen place.
Super location. Every restaurant is authentic and tasting so good. It is a great place for everyone. There a a lot of parking spaces where you pay a little money and put your car in a safe spot. The restaurants are also opened till midnight. You can even eat somewhere at 2 am. So don’t wait and visit this place. If you wanna stay there there a two or three hotels/hostels. One big and expensive one and one cheap one. I would recommend both of them.
This is my favorite place. I love bringing new friends and old to little Tokyo whenever I can. Recently theyve changed things up which brought some new locations to light. The place always is a great walk around and food
Vero nice place and great atmosphere and a lot of fun to be there shops are clean really nice place.
First time we are in Little Tokyo and we do like it: Area is nice and clean, people are peace full, and the Ramen noodle is fantastics (Warn: The line to get in the restaurant is way too long, but it is worth when you taste the noddles as we ordered in the picture. Paid parking is Ok and available. Come back soon.
If you are new to LA you have to check out Little Tokyo. The village is so cute. Lots of great places to eat too. Dont forget to pay a visit to the underground shops for all the sweet anime gear, books, and trading card shops too.
Amazing place to visit. Amazing food and shops!
It is a quite small are honestly but here you can genuinely taste some of the cuisines of Japan. And they are good. If you have never been I recommend you visit it at least once.. You wont regret it.
This place was super cool! Lost of anime shops, neat stores with Nick knacks and lots of food
I love this place. So good food, such good shops!
Love little Tokyo. It’s a must for me.Walk around, take pictures, have food, and enjoy a good time.
Great food options and Japanese goods to purchase. Overall a great atmosphere especially with the foot traffic and lack of cars around - makes it more enjoyable to explore.
There are some great shops and restaurants here but it is sadly run down quite a bit.
Amazing for the family and after work meal. Great portions and a lot to learn about japanese Americans.
So fun. It’s expensive though because it’s all imported. Definitely a great experience. We tried the bakery and noodles and were excellent.
Excellent location for Japanese restaurants and stores
So good!!!
Good stores and places
So awesome!!! Really cool things to see and buy, that you cant find in malls or online.
Its nice to walk around and there are great food options. Not too crowded either. I give it four stars because the shops didnt really appeal to me. But its definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.
It’s a really nice place for a visit in downtown. You’d feel like you are waking in a Japanese shopping district.
Nice little piece of japan here
Good food n nice place to hang out
Please check the event calendar on Rafu Shimpo and Cultural News. My fav time is the new year (Jan 1), Tanabata to Nisei week (July n August). So much history and warmth in this district. We need to continue to fight against the #gentrification and we need to support old school businesses like Mitsuru cafes, Blooming Art Gallery etc.
Im not a fan of California and really dislike LA but Little Tokyo is beyond amazing! If youre into Asian culture and/or Japan but cant get out of the states, you must go here! There are so many little shops and hole-in-the-wall places to eat you could spend a week here and still not find it all! Truly a treasure of history that you must visit
Was fun but lots of homeless people hanging around
Fabulous! So much food choices and variing price point. Everybody can have a good time. It was Saturday and there was Karaoke that created a entertaining ambiance throughout our visit.
Awesome little shops and cool spot for food.
Nice place to walk, shop, and have a small meal. Great scenery reminds me of Tokyo.
Very nice place.
Interesting area to dine and shop. Very authentic.
Good place to visit lots of places to eat and to shop
I have lived in California all my life and had never been to little Tokyo mostly because I avoid the Los Angeles area like the plague !! I dont like L.A. to many people and way too much traffic. My 11 year old son wanted to come here so we decided to take him. I have to say it was pretty interesting and loved the different types of Japanese food! We tried all kinds of foods and pastries . We also walked over to the Marukai Market and purchased Japanese groceries to take home. Overall awesome experience and didnt have to fly all the way to Tokyo Japan! ️
Nice area to enjoy japanese food, environment and shopping
Little Tokyo was fantastic until I had to use the restrooms. I couldnt find one anywhere. When I did, it was closed or out of order. Had to use the restroom of a Japanese market.
Fun gathering of many Asian shops and restaurants. If a restaurant had a long wait, just go to one of the other many yummy places. Fickle Wish for trendy Japanese Fashion straight from the source and art for local US artists! Find the magic of wonderful Japanese cosmetics at a few shops around here.
Nice tourist spot. Really feels like a little tokyo.
Little Tokyo is a fun place for culturally enlightened people trying to learn about Japan and Geeks trying to enjoying anime fandom while eating a good meal
If you are around the downtown LA area you have to check out Little Tokyo. Little Tokyo is an experience to just look at with all the lights it has. They have many small cafe’s offering so many things including my favorite Mochi Ice Cream and Boba. You could also find many shipping stores that are well known to have popular and trendy items.
Japanese Historic district in LA is a must stop place. Great festivals, really good food, high quality Japanese shops (excellent Japanese art/gifts, Japanese bookstores, groceries, kimono shops, a really good Japanese hardware store, Fugetsudo, the list goes on..) just some of the many reasons to go here. You will see lots of locals, Japanese culture, as its a great place to experience.A very peaceful happy place-- this is a great destination together with family and friends. Have been going here for many decades and still love it here!#littletokyo #jtown
Busy, happening, & I just love it! Sanrio store was closed but we shopped and ate. Fun times♡
Historical unique spot in LA, small but so much to do there and get enriched with LA/Japanese culture.
There are so many trendy little shops. Some of the best LA eats can be found in this area. Its also walking distance to the Arts District.
Awesome place to check out. Lots of little shops, a bit of a tourist trap, but the food is so worth it. Taking a Lyft into Little Tokyo is def more convenient than driving and dealing with parking. Plan to spend most of the day there and have dinner at one of the restaurants!
Always a great place to find Japanese food. I especially like the grocery which is packed with authentic food items that you normally dont find easily elsewhere.
My son lead me here probably 15 years ago since he loves Japanese Anime and the only manga stores we could find were here...Anime Jungle. Lil Tokyo has since stayed our Family favorite weekend excursion for all things Anime to a their quainy grocery store or cosplay ideas to my favorite sweet breads Shoppe to gently Freshly baked An Pannomnom. Oh and did I mention the free/open karaoke nights make this the happiest place on
My daughter and I loved this place makes you feel like your in Tokyo
Exciting environment
Great shops and food, cute scenary, and a welcome reprieve from the normal hustle of downtown LA.
Great place to visit, especially at night and on weekends (Friday thru Sunday). Not very crowded and has some great restaurants, bakeries, and shops.
This place is pretty much a one-stop shop for most of your anime and Japanese needs in LA. highly recommend stopping by and looking through the shops
Fun place to absorb the Japanese culture. Sushi, Ramen, bubble tea, herbal tea, and more!!! Awesome.
If you like Sushi this is the right place to eat..real sushi!!
I love it its soo pretty there
Nice, needs to be cleaner outside stairs.
I love the aesthetic of this place. Lots of authentic Japanese food and cute stores
Had a lot of fun exploring the shops. Food was fantastic.
Lots of cool shops and restaurants, late at night there isnt quite as much but we had fun at some cool bars and restaurants
Probably one of my favorite places in LA for good food and interesting stuff. Worth a few hours in the afternoon
The food was good. Perfect for weebs lmao.
Always love to go there when Im in LA!
Ice cream mochi and pcbang are great
Love this area
A must stop when I am in LA. Love perusing the anime memotabilia, eating excellent Raman, shopping at the japanese market for unique snacks and watching the live entertainment in the plaza area. Fully plan to stay at the New Otani hotel one day to have all of these amenities a few steps away.
Very clean, great shops, great food! Plenty of things to see, a great way to spend an afternoon. Also has a wonderful Japanese market with food hard to find elsewhere
It is a great cultural center full of amazing things to try. Even though it didnt have what I wanted it was an amazing time
I love this place best place ever great food and great place to take the family
Worth fighting the LA traffic to visit with plenty of great places to eat at.
A bit of Tokyo in LaGreat place for turism and grab Japanese’s food
Great place to visit. Several places to enjoy a hearty meal and trendy shops to visit.
Great place to visit if youre in los angeles, they have authentic food, shops and anime. Theres many other asian places located around the area within easy walking distance. Good place to stop by along with korean town and china town. Get you some good buns
If youre looking for a taste of Asian culture this it! Amazing food and delicious treats are easy to find through the area. And for those hard to get gifts, this is the place youll find unique gifts in the various gift shops. A must go place while visiting downtown L.A.
