It also made me feel extremely old, seeing as I havent had this much fun doing something free in god knows how long. Definitely the place to take kids, nephews, nieces what have you. Theyll have the time of their lives just like my friend and I did.
Very cool, Saw it on the tv show Bosch and had to see it when we visited LA. Couldnt believe its only $1.00 each direction. Its a beautiful example of LA history
This is a cute little ride, great for tourists.Located right across the Grand Central Market, and priced at $1 a ride, this is definitely worthwhile. The bright orange color is quirky and great for photos. The wood inside is vintage, we went on a weekday and there was hardly anyone around. There was only one other person, when I went with my family. The hill the ride ends on is perfect in the evening, with a great area that’s perfect for LA photos.I don’t know if I’d do it again (I think it’d get boring fairly quickly), but I wasn’t disappointed and definitely think it’s worth doing at least once.
Beautiful place to visit. Parking is kinda crazy but we found some on the street. From all the picsI saw on yelp it appears like its in a large area but its actually not. Neverthless, still a beautiful place to roam around and take pics.
I just started reading Michael Connellys Angels Flight. Seeing all aspects brings the book to life. Many thanks! . tsunami!
Always a pleasure to ride. The folks on the front end, also always been a pleasure. Thank you for adding beauty to Los Angeles.
Such a sweet welcoming employee who helped us. Very fun for the price & a short fun experience. Would do again! Peggee & Joe Marcano...
Loved it . Saved alot of hill climbing.
.50 with tap card, one dollar without. Cute place to take pics, peaceful on the weekends. You can take this to get to grand central station, metro purple and redline, and to moca and grand street. Super charming. When the fountain is up and running, this is one of my favorite places to stop and take a mental break in busy downtown LA during magic hour, it’s so beautiful
Be sure to bring your tap card (or some cash) after a lunch at the grand Central market. Its a nice little sardine can with all the charm of LA through the ages for pennies on the dollar. Loved the entire minute.
Hard slides to find, but once youre there youll instantly turn into a child again. These slides were first introduced to me about 5 years ago and I dont remember them closing at sundown! I went last night and was unpleasantly surprised by the gates that were installed - all 3 rows so you cant enjoy any more than a 3 foot section at a time.
Superb attraction. mythical attraction of the movies !!! for my part I wanted to make this attraction compared to the film la la land. its very nice!!!! and once you arrive at the top you will be staying in a very modern, very chic neighborhood. with a small view of a part of los angeles. each rejection of this cable car costs $ 1 per person. I wish you a good experience !!!!!
I love this attraction! It’s $1 each way. It’s nostalgic. A fun & inexpensive thing to do!
Save your knees from all those steps and soar into the heavens with a little help from the Angels Flight railway. After years of being out of service, it was relocated, renovated and is now fully functional. Mostly a tourist novelty, its worth taking a look at - or take a ride up for a buck. The original Angels Flight can be seen in the 1949 movie, Criss Cross with Burt Lancaster.
Historic... Will be nice at the top when Pershing Square remodeling is completed later in 2020...worth $2 round trip fare! When the cable car is in motion = STAY SEATED... KEEP YOUR KIDS FROM TOUCHING THE GATE... otherwise you will not get where your going, the car will stop... and then it becomes a thrill ride as the cable car attempts to regain momentum.
A short ride up is a fun experience to do in L.A. The view is great from the top. A great place to take picture. Few good places to eat near by. There is Grand Central Market at rhe bottom of the ride. Another must visit place.
A really cute and simple trolly ride but definitely worth the experience. Put stored value on your TAP card so its only 50 cents. Otherwise, its $1. The employee was super kind and helpful. Get a souviner ticket!!! An awesome piece of history.
Very interesting and fun railway built on a slope. Couple of good restaurants near the top. The ticket salesman at the top was a great character and full of interesting facts about the railway and surrounding buildings.
Cool little railway.. Surrounded by some spectacular buildings, including The Broad & Walt Disney Concert Hall
Probably the best buck you will ever spend. This place is chill and pretty automated. You walk up to it on the ground level and board the train car. After a few minutes the operator at the top of the hill will close the gate and start the ride. You pay at the top of the hill. Once you get to the top you will be greeted to a decent view of the city. There are two ways to go down, you can either pay another dollar or walk down the stairs. The stairs are not bad at all. It goes by super fast.Overall cool place to bring family and friends when they are in town. The railway is right across from Grand Central Market so you can hangout there before or after. Ride is super quick, probably less than 2 minutes.
I think this is one of the shortest train tracks, but interesting because of the history and the steep angle. Only pays 1 dollar to go up, and if you want a souvenir, there’s a souvenir ticket also. You can ride one way up, and then take the stairs down. It’s very near to Grand Central Market too.
Beautiful railway with amazing city view, nearby The Broad and MOCA museum (walking distance), also Skyspace, worth to visit.
Tourist must see ofcourse. It is $1 to go up and $1 down but it takes you to this pretty terrace and you can take stairs either way. Its next to grand central market which is so full of food from different cultures and both have a lot of history
We took this ride down to Central Market after having walked from The Broad, its a convenient and fun way to get down or up the hill.Super cheap, $0.5 per ride of you have stored value on a TAP card. Otherwise its $1.The ride is a fun experience and a short walk from many cool locations. There is also a pretty good view from the top. Its worth a round trip if you arent going to the other side.
Although just a few minutes ride, but its always interesting to wide a classic transportation like this. And if you are photo lover, its always better to take the downward rather than upward for lesser people
A must place to visit. Charge is less. Please bring your LA metro card as payment can be done using your card and is cheap compared to cash payments. During peak period there will be some waiting time. A must place to visit and enjoy your ride. Pershing Square metro station is very near.
GREAT funicular right in L.A! Not as big as the Incline in PGH, but this grand dame is just as charming. Brand - new restoration to pristine glory just like it was in 1900 when she was christened. $1 each ticket (one way) with the steps right beside it for cheapskates and/or step - counters.
Short ride, but worth the visit if you are new to Los Angeles. Visit and snap pictures and take a ride, experience it for yourself. And then visit Grand Central Market across the street for some good grub!
It was fun to write this for its historical significance. However, it got delayed a few feet from the station for a short period of time. The guy working the payment window didnt seem to be very happy with his job. He was not friendly at all. But, the ride was fun. Ive always wanted to do it.
A super cool destination in downtown, highly recommended, the worlds shortest railway but lots of fun!Right opposite to the grand central market, easy to find and a quick visit when you come to LA downtown.
It was a fun experience. Tried only because it was featured in LA La land movie. Its just a 40 seconds ride that takes you a block away.
This is historic icon in downtown Los Angeles just right in front of the farmers market where you can have a variety of good food. Although it’s understandable to charge a fee, I think it should be free or just request for a donation. The fee is “steep” for the short flight. Look around other big cities, they don’t charge for their people movers.
A Los Angeles landmark still going strong.
I was accidentally found this place while looking for shortcut on my way to The Last Book Store. What an exciting short ride for a dollar.Remind me of the ride ar HongKong.
This is one of those experiences in the city that only lasts a few seconds but on a beautiful day can be really special. If you’re visiting the city for the first time give it a go. I wouldn’t ride it if there’s a line because you can just walk up the stairs right alongside it. Either way, when you’re at the top take a nice pic of the city in the distance!
Be a part of the history. The original flight was opened in 1901 and was half a block from the current site. The current site opened in 1996. This is not functional now due to recurring accidents and mechanical. One can still walk around and have a close look. And take as many number of pics as one desires. Live the history.
The ride cost just a few dollars to ride. Came across this thing when visiting the market and we was already on our way to the US bank tower. We saw we could ride this up the hill and we definitely did. It was fun. Something to definitely do when visiting the downtown LA area.
What a cute means of transportation :3. Only one dollar. Loved it!
Fun thing to do in LA. It only cost $1 and takes a few minutes so very easy to do. We did right after we ate at the the grand central market which you should definitely do if youre visiting LA. Probably not worth a special trip downtown just for the railway but fun to do if youre already there.
After a morning at The Broad, we were walking around downtown and stumbled upon this sweet little ride that took us down to a direct entrance for the Grand Central Market. It was only 50¢ (one way) with our Metro tap cards and a perfect way to take in a little history while also taking a little rest.
Cool ride, very short obviously but fun
Located just opposite of the Grand Central Market, this is an interesting way to experience the railway in the city and its history. Cost only $1 one way ($0.50 if you are using metro Tap card) and payment is made at the uphill station, you can take train up to the hill and enjoy the view of LA downtown. The train ride is short, less than 2 minutes and operates every 5 minutes, so there is not much of a wait. There is not much crowd either, so you can take your time to appreciate the history. You can also take the stairs up /down if you want to save up.
Was told this was a must for LA visitors. Its like a 30 second ride. Looked cool. Cool photos for instagram. And its cheap. Cool experience.
It is something different for Downtown L.A it was a nice experience.
Very beautiful make sure you wear some comfy shoes for walking theres lots of steps
A fun way to experience a part of LA history. It might not be the quickest way to travel, but definitely the most unique.
Its a cute railway, and only take 1 dollar to get on.
This is a short, historic funicular ride. Its only a couple of dollars to ride each way and worth the experience.
Short trip to the top, but kinda fun, one dollar per ride, nice view when get to the top.
Nice railway. The caboose (not sure if that’s what it’s called) is quite hot, there are windows and not much ventilation. We visited from out of state a couple weeks ago, and seems like they are under construction. Unfortunately they might be building a hardscape and landscape. So the second floor was quite boring, stores where closed (5 pm weekday)Overall nice view of the city!
It’s a very short ride with stairs seating, fun experience brought back my childhood memories..
Pretty interesting history and worth doing one time to say you did it, but not particularly a to die for experience. Its a train ride that lasts a little over a minute and takes you up and down for $1 each way or $0.50 each way if you have a Metrocard.
In less than half a minute, I arrived at the station! Much like the San Francisco bus, but the distance is very short, as long as one dollar. If you have a TAP card for 50 points, you can sit up and go down, not bad.
I dont know much of the history behind this place but I think it got famous even more with lala land movie. You need to pay 1 dollar to take the train up or down which takes about 15 seconds but I think it is worth trying once.
A unique transportation from Grand Central Market up to The Board. Enjoy the view.
Short but beautiful. 50c with a TAP card
This is LA history at its best. Its been restored beautifully. As of 03/2019, at $1 a ride or 50 cents with a tap card its a great way to experience a piece of LAs yesteryears. Dont forget to take a look at the views from the top of this short ride and grab lunch at Grand Central Market across the street.
Historical Train that takes you up from the Grand Central Market to the financial district of Los Angeles. Its a convenient way to go up to the street where the Broad Museum and Walt Disney Concert Hall are located.
It’s a fun thing to see.If you have the bus pass it’s only fifty cents vs when you don’t. Currently September 2019 it was only a dollar.
Amazing ride just for 1$ and 35¢ tap card
Beautifully redone, lots of photo ops, 50 cents and your trap card get a ride in it.
I dont know you, but I assume you have a dollar. And for only a dollar, this is a pretty awesome thing to do.
If you have the chance to visit los Angeles Downtown, make sure you take this short and nice ride in a beautiful train of 1900s The cost is 50cent if you have the TAP card ( the card that u used for Metro or Bus). In this train was filmed a scene of the movie LA LA LAND.
Ive always loved these hill climbing rails and this one didnt disappoint either. The ride was $1 per direction and takes a minute or two. Easily worth its price.
This is a super fun ride up Bunker Hill that you just should do for the sake of doing it. Trust me. Its fun. Its quick. If you have to wait in line, youll wait longer than the ride lasts but it doesnt matter. Why?Because its super fun.We noticed theres a minimal fee to ride up, but the day we hopped on it was free. So theres that. And this is totally unique and totally an LA landmark that should be experienced!
It was fun riding the worlds shortest train ride from grand central market to the broad museum.
Its a dollar to ride or free to use the stairs to the left of it. The results are the same.
A really neat little treat tucked away in the middle of downtown. At just $1 each way, its a fun breakaway from all the super expensive things to do in LA.
How had I never taken this before? It is both fun and quite handy!
Shortest railway in Los Angles and maybe the world. Old but tons of fun. It is $1 to ride and so much fun. It is hot in the car and a bit rickety but you have to ride it. It is in the tv show Bosch
It is funny to ride the shortest railway in the world. It takes roughly a minute, maybe a little less, and the 50 cents you have to pay is close to nothing. If you are in a hurry, you might want to take the stairs, its quicker.
Interesting train. The distance is short. It just charged me 1 dollar.
Only drawback was walking up the stairs.
Cute, quaint & practical all at the same time! The steps from the movie LaLa Land are there as well!
The ride itself takes a minute or so, but for a dollar, its an experience worth having.
Very cool mini railway / cable car! Worth the $1 trip and really interesting history.
We stumbled upon this, not knowing it was there! A fun, historical trip down the hill to the market
This is definitely a must see LA landmark. This funicular traverses Bunker Hill very efficiently and is quite the adventure. Rides are only $1.
Need to spend a buck for the ride up or down, maybe the shortest track in the world, great views after you got up there!
It was so much fun to ride in a little bit of History. And its right across from Grand Central Market we can get a bite to eat afterwards highly recommend going if youre in the Los Angeles area
So cool! Its $1.00 each trip, and its just really cool. Its a little tourist stop across from the Central Market, and the quick way of getting to the plaza above. Kids loved sitting in the very front on the way up lol
Nice railway. I do love this, but its better not take stroller there.
I had always wanted to ride this little train up the hill. Its $1 either going up or going down. It totally beats walking around the block.
$1,tap$0.5,great place.I like thetrain.
We visited Angels Flight with our seven year old son after reading of places in LA for children, with linked this with a visit to the Last Book Shop and Echo Park as they were all in close driving distance. This was an ideal but short activity for him to enjoy, no queues when we were there and at only $2 each to go up and down it was a good time filler.Located across from what looked like an open food market with various restaurants and bars available, we had just eaten so didnt go in.The Railway is easy to find with Sat Nav and once you are near you cant miss its bright orange colours.I would recommend!
A quick fun trolly ride. We only ride up, then walked down. The water pools were being worked on. The top is a peaceful escape from the city!
Though its a very short ride and mainly for touristy purposes only, I would ride Angels Flight again, its very fun and worth the buck!
It looks nicer on TV and in photos. The adjacent park is shut down with temporary fencing up. Not looking so good.
Nice view from the top! But theres a small fee of USD1.00 for the team ride up the hill top which is ok. However you can choose to walk up the steps if you want save a buck!
Located in beautiful downtown Los Angeles. This historic Angel Flight Railway created by Colonel J.W. (James Ward) Eddy in 1901 still operates today. It’s a must see when visiting Los Angeles.
