Cool spot to look at some Ferndell Nature Museum history. Griffith Park has a lot of history, trails, golf courses and some hidden gems if you look for it. Travel town is another place I reccomend there.

Really lovely park and trail. Well maintained area and theres also a playpark for the children. Its quite steep in places and theres limited shadow so you need to be aware of this if walking/ running up.Id also recommend that you bring a bottle as although there are water stops, theyre not frequent.Really lovely way to spend an afternoon

Favorite place to hike. I also take my son here. Lots of different trails to take on the way up to the observatory but we love the little area at the bottom that looks like a forest with the streams during springtime. Usually not too many people in the afternoon. People being their dogs and there are lots of random creatures like frogs, crawfish, butterflies, lizards, butterfly(and rarely snakes). I really enjoy this place. The hike is steep and you can free rock cling off trails which I love. Its beautiful, challenging and peaceful

Because my kids love this place its good for walking reading books and relaxing walking with your dog or with a love one to talk

Wish it were bigger. Gorgeous gem of a place. Great place to bring people to. Gem! Cliftons founders home is across the street in the corner.

The Griffith Observatory and surrounding nature preserve are an amazing place to go relax and spend a day or afternoon with a friend. Taking photos and catching up. What a wonderful and excellent day. I loved it.

Calming nature walk-through starting at the entrance to Griffith Park. Easy for all ages, some wildlife can be spotted, and if you choose you can continue all the way up to the Observatory (active level people) and skip paying for parking! P.s. the trail that goes to the right is easier than the one by the restrooms.

Easy to get to (if you dont mind driving through the neighborhoods) and on to for a great view of Berkeley and the bridges.

I love Ferndell its such a nice place to relax... Although its in the middle of all the craziness of the freeways and city traffic, you feel like you are on the set of Jurassic park or like you are out in the wilderness.... I also love that its super close to the Griffith park observatory.... Love, love, love this place!

I wouldnt call this a museum. Its more like a dried up stream but a very lovely walk. Been strolling here since I was 7. Its sadder than it was back then, could use some work but still a great getaway from all the city noise.

Can’t believe such a beautiful place exists in the middle of LA.

All was a great location for kids and adults. Its located in Griffith park. And for those who do not know Griffith park is a large park the has the Griffith Observatory, the Greek theater, kids playgrounds, the Los Angeles Zoo, Golf course, horse trails and Train museum.

Its OK, theres greenery, but the water is filthy and full of sewage and runoff. Doesnt seem to bother the crayfish, buy then again theyll feed on a drowned rat in the bottom of the creek with great relish, so whos to say where their standards lie.

This place is very beautiful place. So much varied flora and fauna!!

I dont want to give away a hidden gem buts its awesome. Really good afternoon hangout. Great food and leisure spot before or after a hike.

Great easy trail. My almost 2 year old had a lot of fun. You can do it with a jogging stroller but wouldnt reccomend an umbrella stroller as there are some ruts in the trail. There are plenty of opportunities for an little explorer to safely go off train and explore.

Very calming and beautiful. Unfortunately more then half the walk was closed.

Nice little hidden gem. Its an easy hike and great for kids. We saw lots of crawfish, a frog and a bunch of little fishes. The trail is paved and you walk along a stream the entire way. There is street parking and can get crowded.

Beautiful green in Griffith Park. Nice walk in it. There are cement benches along the way. At the end is Trails Cafe, sort of a yuppie coffee shop.

You really feel nature around you, easy place to park your car and walk or jog around.

Solitude in the city, thats what you get when you visit Ferndell. You are overwhelmed with a sense of primal instinct as you take the sunken path in the dampness of the ferns, creek and lush greenery. How lucky are we with millions of people walking the streets being able to get away from it all and enjoy nature in such a private yet local location.

Its peaceful, calm and nice to walk. It could use some maintenance. Over the years it has taken its toll on the place. I just hope it doesnt close.

It gets really hot here but other than that its great for shopping or eating. Ita not for hanging out.

Beautiful strolls along a little curated creek, have a coffee at Trails and slow your day at Ferndell. Cant wait for the bathrooms to re-open!

The entrance to the preserve is helpful. The shade it provides its a life saver, the walkway is hard sand. Its very relaxing. You will probably stumble upon this by accident lol

Its an awesome trail. I carry my 2 yr old in a back carrier and it takes just under one hour to take the trail up and down. Its not too busy and has wide paths. Beautiful views of the Hollywood sign, downtown and all around.

Great nature nook in LA. Turtles n tadpoles. Some trees to climb. Have fun.

Beautiful oasis of tranquility and nature in the middle of the city. Secluded trails and flowing water will make transport you to another realm. A spiritual place to be sure, as it has been venerated by generations looking for a piece of heaven.

Walking though Ferndell is like taking a walk outside your body and having all the synapses in your brain being severed and the only thing you feel is absolute tranquility. I recommend stopping somewhere along the trail and just close your eyes and listen. What youll find is magic.

Very small trail however it is very green and a joy to walk through.

Really cool foliage in Los Angeles. While we were driving through a hawk was just sitting on a branch watching us, really refreshing seeing all the types of plants and birds tucked away in such a large city.

One of my favorite places in LA, at any season of the year.
