One of my favorite local places to come and unwind. I get some of my best thinking done at MacArthur Park and on the other side of the coin I have some of my most relaxing walks/naps in which I dont think about anything and just rest. I think everyone should have an outside venue nearby where they can go to unwind and get rid of the stress from our daily lives. Whether its a park, look out point, beach, etc. Just find your spot and youll be a happier and less stressed person because of it!
This historic park has been the center of the community that surrounds it for decades. Back in its prime, the park was a beautiful gathering space where friends gathered to socialize and celebrate.Today the park is in desperate need of repair. The pond is full of garbage, sidewalks covered in bird feces, the smell of urine is nauseating in areas. Unhoused community members occupy part of the park, which exacerbates the crumbling infrastructure. This park is located in a lower income immigrant community -- the city does not prioritize its upkeep the way it does other parks like Expo Park, Echo Park and Grand Park. That is a shame!
I love Mc Arthur Park. You can find mostly anything you want any time. It reminds me of back home El, just beware they are always people wAtching your every move. Its a hot zone.
Absolutely spectacular amazingly awesome views of the Golden Gate Bridge! You must go here and get pictures. Plan for a nice sunny day though if you can. I lucked out with some sun shine and only a little bit of cloud. Enjoy and take it all in. :)
If you are bored at home you can go shopping there at the sidewalk outlets. Clothing, shoes, cosmetics, electronics, kitchenware, used tools there is also a 99 cents store. Every thing right by the red line train Mac Arthur station. The park which is on the other side of the street is dirty and has a little lake but is surrounded with tents of homeless that had made there their home since the COVID 19 pandemic. The area where all the shops are is very crowded. Dont go there with children.
As it relates to road cycling, MacArthur Park is an amazing ride. Highly recommended! Good climb that wont kill you, then you get rewarded with awesome down hills. You can really get creative with routes. If planned well, there is also great off-road cycling.
We went to go see the Tea Garden, but ended up walking down to the boat dock. We were lamenting that St. Louis could have something as beautiful but not have the views here. We climbed to the top of Strawberry hill and took in the view. An interesting view of the bridge from the top. Very quiet and peaceful here. I think we could have spent many days of our stay here taking in the beauty of the park
I loved walking through the park! It was nicely shaded and so much to do! It was very nice to sit by stow lake and absorb some sun, then explore all over. Be prepared to walk though. It seems like with a car it can be a hassle. Wish I lived closer, I would be there ALL the time.
Great workout if you like hiking. Several different ways to go for a more challenging workout. Go out early because it get crowded with random people in heels and jeans maybe looking for celebrities. Dogs are allowed to not be on a leash, which I always enjoy dogs of all sizes.
LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! I can spend the whole day here. I went to almost all of the highlights at the park. The best areas are the Japanese Garden, Stowe Lake to row a boat, and bisons. I wished the windmills had tulips like the pictures in the website. Cant wait to come back
Could be a wonderful place. It really is, still. Truly this world is amazingly beautiful. But it should be tended too. It looks rough.
Great MacArthur Park with my dog! He enjoyed being outdoors and seeing so many other dogs. At first he was scared to go near the water, but after we carried him to stand in the water, he realized it was nothing so he loved it. Going up the stairs was easier than coming down for him. Definitely want to return on a nice day! Lots of parking, but it fills up quick.
Had lunch along the west end of the pond. Its a nice, peaceful spot. No people or birds bothered me.
A wonderful gift as a Los Angeles, CA resident. I just love the park and all it has to offer. I just need a bike now so I can enjoy all the bike trails.
Beautiful and great location to see the night lights of downtown Los Angeles. Just be aware of the homeless people that occupy the area.
On Sundays they have a band comes and sings and it isnt the best smelling place in the world it does offer good company and good music and the occasional taco or two
MacArthurs Park is melting in the darkAll the sweet, green icing flowing downSomeone left the cake out in the rainI dont think that I can take itCause it took so long to bake itAnd Ill never have that recipe againOh, no
I lived in LA for years and never heard of this place, but recently went while on vacation. Beautiful gardens. We saw deer, rabbits, turtles, squirrels. A very nice getaway to nature from the city.
This is truly one of the great parks, great museums, botanical gardens, hiking trail, I have been here several times and still find new things like yesterday I found the lake where you can rent a boat...... great place to come and unwind
Golden Gate Park makes my evening run something more like fun and less like a torturous hour I endure before my evening cocktail. This great green stretch of land fill is also so pretty, it makes me proud to be a San Franciscan.
The Golden Gate Park is a large 1017 acre urban public park. It began in 1871 configured as a rectangle similar in shape and twenty percent larger than Central Park in NYC. It is about three miles east and west by a half mile north and south. It is the third most visited park after Central Park and the Lincoln Memorial. The park has a music concourse area, De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences, Japanese Tea Garden, Conservatory of Flowers, Beach Chalet, Windmills, Statues, Carousel, Botanical Garden, several lakes, hills, bison, walking trails, plants and animals.
I found it! When I first read about it online, since it was listed as a hidden gemI thought it would be difficult to find. However, the slides are part of Seward mini park which was listed clearly on all GPS devices I used. The nice part is that it was on my way to Twin Peaks, so it was not a wasted trip at all!
Love it here. Its relaxing for me and my dog. Its endless digging and frisbee for my little pooch! The hang gliders are also very cool to watch. The drawback is hiking back up can be a pain especially in the summer. So wear comfortable shoes and douse yourself with sunscreen.
When meeting up as a group make sure you send arrival instructions. This park is split into two sections. And there are about 10 completely different possible places to meet at. Great outside space but not a lot of level or even ground. And be mindful homelessness is rising in LA as the cost of living goes up. Folks of different abilities mental and physical frequent this park. Be respect and support your street vendors.
Bumville its a beutiful park but yeah pass by and you know what I mean
Not well maintained and its quite unsafe in the evenings.. it might be alright to visit in the day time. There is a decent sized ground for taking your gang to play soccer or cricket. I also saw people playing badminton etc.
Great area off leash for dogs to play! One thing is to be careful about are the cliffs and parking lot area. Other than that you can pick walking trail area or by the water front :) will come back
Great place to take a load off. Sit under a tree, on a bench or take a walk around the.lake. Nice place to just sit back and relax.
Best place to get your drugs for the low. Make sure you have hands because they never turn down a fade and thats ong.
This place is truly the Disneyland for dogs. There are acres and acres of sand, ice plant and dunes for dogs to run off leash play and be dogs. Its tranquil and serene to walk there with your dog...the views are lovely, and if youre lucky you might even spot a whale, dolphins or wildlife at the park.
The things they sell are awesome. They have most things your looking for but cant find or too expensive, ZAN
Omhhhgggggg!! This is one of the happiest loveliest most fantastic places in the Bay Area! Cant believe it took me so long to get here with my pooches! The scenery is gorgeous, the dogs are happy little kiddos, and everything is right in the world.Thats my happy recommendation.
Amazing flocks of geese and ducks, people having fun and talking. Great place. Be careful at night though!
Its a unique place in L A street vendors and businesses cramped into a very small area. It bristles with every spectrum of society from mental illness homelessness small business owners and residents.Although i cable locked my bike where the vendors were and left for an hour the cable was cut and bike gone but luckily it was right where the train was.Oh well
I lived in the city for years so anytime I get to hang out with mother earth golden gate park is the place to be. Well maintained park. Parking can be a hassle depending what event is going in the weekends.
Had a wonderful day at Golden Gate park. Bison, remote controlled boats, fantastic paths, and a beautiful polo field!
The park is beautiful but its a shame so very dirty and hope one day it can be a place where neighbors can go for a nice walk
Beautiful work of nature! Best view for your buck!!! Relaxing, quiet and rejuvenating. Highly recommend you to come out and play
Dont brings kids to thid park, let alone thid side of town/area.full of addicts, homeless, and those with severe mental health issue.s
Its a great family oriented park. Beautiful landscapes and the lake is a peaceful, refreshing respite from the roar of a big cities traffic. Youre bound to love this place!
Great place to feed ducks and go for a quick run.
Not many international cities have this abundance of space. And GGP sits next to the Pacific Ocean. There are many birds and plants to look at. Museums are in this park as well. A conservatory of flowers. Sf Botanical Gardens (cost $ except if you are a SF resident & have your id handy, then its free entry).
Doggie heaven indeed! Great atmosphere for people and dogs. Pack a light lunch and dog treats and be ready to hit the MacArthur Park.
Being near MacArthur Park is one of the true pleasures of living in Haight-Ashbury. It seems like there is always something interesting and fun going on there, and I take the kids to the main playground or the one in the panhandle most weekends.
This is like my 3rd or 4th time here. I love coming here cuz of all the people and atmosphere, but I hate the parking situation. I wish there were more free parking spots.
I was lucky enough to come here today and see Lilaangelique and Thoth perfom by the conservatory of flowers. They even gave me a free cd. Golden Gate park is awesome. Its awesome to stay in a city and still experience nature.
Its a Little Mexico on Lake! You can buy and sell anything and something else there ! Great bargains !! Works the visitation!! You can buy anything, anything!!At the beginning, I had my concerns about visiting the place ! But after all!,I enjoy visiting the park and shopping there !! Also I love the flora and fauna on the park! I love the gooses !! And is not dangerous to go there!!
There is nothing better in San Francisco as GGP. Theres just no more to say. Feast your eyes on green and beautiful.
Its a great place if you want to buy some drugs
Its pack with homeless and lots of immigrants. If the police and city cleaned it up than this could be a five star park with unlimited possibilities.
This is the place to be for all dog lovers! Its a nice walk along the coast but watch out for the cliffs. Dogs are off leash everywhere!
One of my favourite places in L.A. to visit!
Whole different ball game. Ill hang out in the car watch craziness. Have cold brew
A beautiful park that cannot be enjoyed due to the state is in.
To be honest its really dirty and not safe.
This park has a diverse amount of activities available. From a theatre playing live music all summer long to a large section for children to play safely. With the wildlife being right on the water it can be serene to just relax there. The only reason it lost a star is because of a group of people that go there to drink and gamble
Really beautiful place to take your dog out. My gf and I always take our husky there when we can.
Found the love of my life and some good weed thanks Mac!
I dont dislike the place it is a beautiful park but unfortunately the homeless epidemic in LA has truly affected this park which makes it not the best place to vist
No other park can compare. Im blessed to live 2 blocks from this beauty.
ATMOSPHERE NICE AND THE FOODS SERVED!
It always melts in the dark - all that sweet green icing flowing down.I think someone left the cake out in the rain. And I dont think I can take it, cause it took so long to bake it, and Ill never have that recipe again.Oh no...
Was nice a long time ago not anymore
It truly fosters a business and family atmosphere, even throughout the night. I kid you not, Id hardly believe it 2
Very populated with homelessness. There is a lot of vendors selling items. Traffic is heavy on weekends.
It was very nice and my children enjoy fishing in the lake
Dirty lots. Of. Garbage. Could. Be. Do nice. City and. Mayor doent care
Too many homeless take away the beauty of this historic park
Awesome place to go for a walk with your dog, its only a .3mile walk to the beach and plenty of space for your dog to run around. Parking might be a little difficult on nice days, but worth the view
Great place. Just be careful in the area at night. Really a great park though. Alot of people and homeless. If you dont like that then pass it up. Maybe dont live in Los Angeles as well
A beautiful park with plenty of space to do all sorts of different fun activities or sports. Theres also a great experience on the outskirts of the park on Alvarado, a Swap meet like Ive never seen before! Worth the time if youre interested in checking out their awesome products, accessories, and ECT.
Really good park. But its very dirty. We need to clean that park up
Its a great part for ducks and geese
Is it MacArthur Park? Or MacArthur Outdoor Homeless Shelter. Heads up!... Dont bring the kids, unless they enjoy teter tottering on sleeping homeless men, or hopscotching drug dealers.
A good place to relax, read or jog either solo or with friends a landmark of the Angelenos and a very good spot to reminisce about L.A. past glamorous life..
A nice place to get away for the day. Boat rides on the lake are always fun and of course a picnic. Close by attractions like the Bradbury Building add to your adventure. This used to known as Westlake Park. Many Movies and TV Shows filmed here! Located near Downtown LA. Easy access, close by.
A historical landmark that is a former shell of what it once was. Known in the past as Westlake Park, later renamed MacArthur after the great Pacific theater general, Douglas MacArthur, this area was once called the Champs-Élysées of Los Angeles. Unfortunately, the park has seen better days. Today it is common to see trash and vagrants loitering everywhere. It has also become a hot-spot for crime, with police monitoring the area frequently. This area is long due for redevelopment to bring it back to a state of authenticity.
Beautiful park, friendly people, nature sight.
To many people selling everything ?everything No good is look like Police dont care anymore.
Its a great park its very good!
An underfunded park with a vast population of homeless patrons.
Always a good Park to relax, a little relief from the hot weather...
Its pretty filthy...and taken over by the homeless...trash is everywhere.
They sale everything means everything look like Police dont care, anymore !
I grew up literally around the corner of this park in the 80s. In those days only dead bodies show up. Now the way the park has been maintained Ive never seen it so packed with so many families having fun. 2 parks, Your choice of walking through a tunnel to either enjoy the fields or the stage.
