Came here on a super rainy day .. just to see the painted ladies and take pictures of the great views of the city. I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the park, but it was pouring. It seems to be a really nice park .. great for picnics and kids to play. PLUS ... the views are beautiful!
We are investing in an urban adventure for child and Exposition Park Rose Garden provides a wonderful foundation. When we had an infant, it provided a sane, inspiring place to walk and take in natural beauty. Now that he is older, these expansive gardens offer an enchanted land where he and his friends can run, roam and discover. Membership is so reasonable and we have made this a regular stop on our cycle of outings throughout Los Angeles. What a gift to have such a wild, non-commercial, living museum available to the public -- live education and exploration opportunities abound. We are looking forward to the return of their summer music series.
What a treasure! Personally I like this better than the LA Arboretum in Arcadia. There are tons of different flowers here. The lilac section was beautiful and everything smelled great. The tulip section was amazing. The garden has several snack shop and even a tea place to sit down and enjoy the scenery. At $9 general admission rate, this garden is perfect for family outing.
I dont often use the word enchanted but Exposition Park Rose Garden pretty much embodies it. Its the kind of place that you cant help but imagine elves and fairies cavorting around in. You park right in front, buy a ticket, wander in and suddenly youre surrounded by acres and acres of beautiful gardens, shaded meadows, meandering brooks and little wooden benches hidden in bowers. Theres even a childrens maze and miniature railroad for your own wee folk. Its hard to believe this sort of place exists in LA and Im so grateful that it does.
I love the little train that you can ride around the Gardens on! I got lucky enough to see the 80th Chrysanthemum event, and was blown away by the amazing diversity that nature provides. The gardens are also a great way to get outdoors and enjoy the La Canada area; perfect for a first date. Just be sure to bring water! And be sure to see to Boddy house too, want an amazing person!
I dont know why people are giving 4 stars to this place....I LOVE IT. Its a beautiful garden. Its clean. They take good care of it. Yea, they dont allow you to bring lawn chairs but its understandable. Chances are the garden get ruined, i get it. Its $8 the fee which its not bad. A lot of parking space. Wear sport clothes & comfortable shoes if you want to explore the whole garden.
Fantastic garden to walk around and enjoy thousands of varieties of flowers. I allotted 3 hours for flower viewing and this garden has been placed on my places to return to visit.Large natural history museum next door rounds out the day.Between the garden and museum we encountered street vendors selling food including fruit which turned out to be exelent! The garden and museum were definitely an all day event but be sure to verify opening and closing times.
I used to come to this place all the time up til 2005, then I went again this past November for my birthday. While we got there near closing it was still very nice. We got a pesto chicken sandwich while there that was very good. The only thing we didnt like was how they started closing things off soo quickly.
Where to start with this park? There are so many hidden gems that you never get bored exploring this park. Its surprisingly fairly clean for a public park. Beautiful views, perfect place to bring a friend and get lost exploring. The park is so big that it would be impossible to experience for just a view hours. Cant wait to come back and explore again!
Great place! Absolutely beautiful and I love the Japanese Garden. It is a staple of any La Canadans life. A great date spot, or even somewhere to go just to walk in peace and collect your thoughts.
I walk as often as I can at Exposition Park Rose Garden, and always find something new and lovely to appreciate. The varied topography provides easy strolling on paved paths, as well as more vigorous hill climbs into the chaparral. From the spectacular spring bulb display, to the rose garden, to the camellias planted by Manchester Boddy, to California native plants, there is always something in bloom. The oak forest provides a cool haven even in the summer months.
What a lovely place to visit on a Sunday, but definitely buzzing with families. However, if you are craving nature, this is your spot. Adult general admission is affordable, and as you walk around you see how well they take care of the grounds. There is a lot of history behind this property that is interesting. The Japanese Garden, Rose Garden, Ancient Forest and California Natives are fixed areas to visit. There is a dining area if you are hungry, the restrooms are clean and the giftshop has a lot of fun things for the kids. Well worth exploring the events calendar.
Amazing location. Well maintained, great tour-guides who are very informative and knowledgeable, beautifully landscaped with stunning cultural touches. Fun little train ride for the kids! Highly recommend you go, twice!!
The area is really nice for a walk with friends and good conversation. We also went to eat at the restaurant there, which had very good food and good service. The wait was a bit long. This is a great gem in the city.
Its a great place! Beautiful!!! The kids had a great time looking at everything and looking for things. We followed the kids trail map that was given to us at the entrance and then did our own, trails, so much to see.
I love love love the gift store here-It has a little bit of everything really and it seems like every single thing is so beautiful. The outside part of the gift store is full of fountains and green foliage and beautiful plants for sale.If you ask you can just go into the gift store without doing the whole Exposition Park Rose Garden
I havent been in a couple of years. I plan to visit again soon. This place is gorgeous. If you live in the area you need to go check out the gardens at least once and bring the kids along.
A very calm place, lots of shade, during the summer it is the perfect place to hang out, think, unwind. I have a family membership and begun coming here in the mornings before work... puts me in a good mood.
Beautiful garden with free entrance. Yes, FREE! Parking is reasonable and its open throughout the year.
I love to come here at different times of year. Its a favorite place for me to go alone or with my family. I can connect with nature in a beautiful setting.
This is one of the few places in SoCal where I can walk about and feel like I am in a real forest, a real forest has trees over your head. My friend from Sweden says the meadow looks like a Swedish forest.
Amazing place to visit and enjoy with your family and friends. Food is good too but you cant miss the garden. We were married in the Rose garden and we have wonderful memories
Great place to walk around even right now with covid.
We enjoyed these gardens. The area is beautiful (great homes), and the gardens are full, with lots of flowers. Very photographic (bring a camera). Really enjoyed.
Beautiful to walk around as closed due to Covid.
If you love roses, this is the place for you. Well tended, good layout and a comfy place to relax between museums.
Beautiful gardens. Fun to walk around with the kids and have a picnic. We also like to take family photos here. My kids like the little train ride.
Free. Very beautiful garden. The roses are taller than most people and the irises are just as big. I was pleasantly surprised by this garden. There are a few gazebos to relax and take fun pictures in. While it was crowded it was large enough to enjoy yourself. The only downside is that it is only open to the Public during certain times of the year. Also, keep in mind that there are still quite a few vagrants in this part of town. There was a few areas where it was quite obvious that someone had been living in the bushes...
Love the live music they have had, especially when they had Reggae in the park. That was good times ;)
This is a peaceful and serene rose garden, situated near Exposition Park and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles. Its a perfect setting to free the mind of busy city life. Theres a bustling social scene in the vicinity, given that USC is right across the street, and the Metro train stops right at the Rose Garden.
Sometimes try to escape from the big city and enjoy some moments with the mother nature. And this is the place. Love it love it.
Beautiful well maintained gardens, they have a great cafe where you can find coffee tea and light snacks, the only negative part is that they dont have enough restrooms and the only ones are at the front entrance.
Really cool place to go visit. I went this weekend and got on the train and walked through different trails and I believe I still missed a lot of things Ill have to go again and take a different way to see what else I find
Still a great park. They turned the fountain on but its still closed. Beautiful!
Very good place to take prewedding photo in the field of various roses.
We absolutely LLLOOOVVVE Descanso Gardens. Over the years we have had a few annual passes. The gardens are beautiful, well maintained and no two visits are ever the same. The care and maintenance that goes into showing the gardens at their best is top notch. We must be due for a visit very soon.
Some of the best hot dogs out there, there is one close to going downtown LA, Small parking lot. But if you are ever in Las Vegas thats the place to go. Its off the strip and still the same great hotdogs. Make sure you get the ice cream and churros
Beautiful place. So peaceful.
Exposition is a fabulous location for a nice little stroll, but did you know that you can get married there?I am a wedding and portrait photographer and I was hired to photograph a wedding located at the park. What a great place to say your vows!It was such a lovely environment for portraits with all the various and beautiful roses. The landscape is kept very nice.Nearby, there is a nice center in which you can hold your reception. This all-inclusive location is wonderful!
We went off season; late fall. It was still pretty ... but if SoCal has a winter, thats when we went. Better in the spring or summer when everything is in bloom.
If you need place to have a nice cozy lunch (there are nice benchs/tables) then the area between the Rose Garden & the Childrens Science Museum is great. Quiet. Clean.
Wonderful little piece of nature, the hundreds of roses, all the different trees in flower, the young crows exploring an utterly amazing world.... I love the beautiful faces of people, black, white, red, yellow, oh, and the Swiss Family Robinson tree!
Classic and new architecture. Museums family .
Perfect spot to relax and learn. Lovely scents and views.
Great place to walk around and appreciate the various kinds of roses. Many photo opportunities to be had and its next to the historic LA Coliseum.
Manages to go when the roses were beautiful.
Gorgeous, endless rows of roses. Come during Golden Hour to have the most radiant photography. Also a perfect place for photoshoots. There are also several gazebos just to sit and relax.
Always a fantastic place to visit and the view is beautiful.
Smells amazing here, so many beautiful roses, some squirrels, trees, a water fountain in the middle, some gazebos you can sit in because there are benches. The grass is soft and a beautiful shade of green. Its clean here just gets noisy because of people on their skateboards. A peaceful place to relax and smell the roses.
December, the season for flowers didnt bloom that much but there were some flowers. The only thing is it looked dead but it was still a nice place. I went on a Friday, so the place had people.
This is that place you can find that natural peace...a friendly community of positive and talented, skaters, bikers, students, tourists, musicians and just an amazing scene for a first date, memorable walks or to learn about science and our world history...I totally love the rose garden ️️️️
Unbelievably gorgeous!! An uplifting place to come and surround yourself by beauty.
This place is beautiful. Any write would not give an accurate description, so I say, come visit for yourself.
It was fun skating since it was closed but the security made me and my friends nervous .
The paths are worn and the status are broken, but still a lovely and romantic places. In parts.Just a word to the wise. Most people hanging out in the gazebos are either drunk or super duper high so be prepared for some awkward staring and even more awkward conversation.
Beautiful rose garden with a very wide range of flowers. Came right before sunset and loved it.
Beautiful, great place to visit and to hang out for a bit after work, or class. Loved the rose gardens and planes. Definitely coming back!
Just by smelling the roses and walking bare feet on the grass you can relax and forget your stress. Seating next to the fountain water its just so soothing. No street parking unless you walk at least a few blocks. Parking is $12, its better than getting a ticket.
Lovely public garden right next to USC. Conveniently located off a metro stop, the Rose Garden is a nice place to have a picnic or take cute photos (especially USC grad photos). It’s open 8:30am-5:30pm but it’s closed during the colder months (January through March). You simply can walk around and spend as much or as little time as you’d like (entry is free). There are a couple of gazebos that you can use for shade although ore often than not, there are other people using them. There are benches around the fountain and on a windy day, you might get sprayed with some water droplets. There aren’t public restrooms but it’s close to several museums with restrooms (is the California Science Center). The path is wide and you could push a wheelchair on it. You’re not allowed to pick the flowers but you can certainly admire them and revel in the fresh smell of roses. Overall it’s a really pretty place and you can get creative whether you want to take photos, have a picnic, or literally just stop and smell the roses.
Great place to ride
Nice park for a picnic. Great spot to watch 4th of July fireworks
Its closed. I took this picture from NHM 09/20.
Everything was locked down. But I get it we are in the midst of a pandemic
It was bright and open, with space for people to do other things between the beds of roses. There were colorful flowers all around, and this was early Spring. I wonder what it will look like in a few more weeks?
Best Rose gardens ever, spring time now were all the roses bushes bloom
Great place to visit kill some time walk..parking was 13 bucks
Clean rose garden to walk through.
Gorgeous no matter what time of the year. Great for a quick stroll or spending time someone special. A great place for peace and quiet and to get away from the hustle and bustle.
Its one of South Central most beautiful place to be at. Perfect for dates, walks, for even the kids. Or if your having a party or get together, that too. U can rent parts or the whole garden. I recommend it fully.
This park is filled with beautiful flowers. Perfect to just lay down on the grass and admire the flowers.
Beatiful place!Chose a day with a good weather, and enjoy.
I love this place, it has really old-beautiful trees, and the rose garden is sandwitched between the California science center and the USC campus.
From childhood, to broken hearts, and then loosing my kids as they run around the rose bushes. This place will always be special to me.
We had a great family day. .thank you
Beautiful place to walk with friends and play Pokemon!
Loved walking around this place, it was a bit warm but all the frangances from the roses were wafting all around, which made it a more enjoyable experience.
Truly beautiful! So many different types of roses. So many different colors and shades! The gazebos are very charming and clean. Many people were walking about, taking pictures, or sketching. We walked the gardens and pretended to be in Versailles!
A great place to look at the different roses, relax, and have a nice walk around the garden with anyone of your loved ones, right next to great museums, Imax theater, the coliseum, the banc of california stadium, with an expo train station right at the door of the rose garden
Great place to smell the roses and have the kids run around.
Beautiful, waiting for it to open again!
I did a photoshoot here recently it was really pretty everything gets busy on Saturday but it clears out every 20 minutes but once the train runs more people fillup so snap your pictures quick most roses are dead unfortunately but it’s still some pretty flowers to take photos of if that’s your thing it’s always skateboarders out front and a few homeless/ex gang members all and all it’s still a safe neighborhood police patrol every 20 minutes because it’s USC right there otherwise it’s worth a trip if your not going to the science center you in la and wanna shoot hit me @SunnyMadeThat FIRST ONES FREE
Amazing program! This is exactly what I look forward to every week, yoga in nature. I love this organization and what they stand for. The teachers are very experienced and friendly. Great way to meet like minded people in the community. And most importantly a great way to escape everyday worries with the practice of yoga.
Such a beautiful and relaxing place. There goes for sure that their still Beauty and peace in the world.
It was closed for a month so we couldnt enter. Some people were jumping over the wall and the garden wasnt that decorated that we were expecting.
One of best places to go in LA. Cool shade park with big trees to relax in shade on hot day. lovely rose garden and great water fountain. Also easily accessible by public transport. Best collection of rare exotic trees and plants in LA inner city. it is literally a green lush Oasis in middle of LA South Central ghetto.
A lot of flowers in spring beautiful relaxing place
Very peaceful in the mornings, perfect for taking a walk and just relaxing and getting away from it all.
Love plants reminds me of home. Quiet place to go when you need to think
Peaceful and calm garden to walk
Amazing selection of roses. Paths are well kept. Worth a visit any time.
Very calm nature spot at times, i like to come here to relax and meditate for a little bit it does get noisy sometimes with the train and people/kids screaming here and there though.
