Came to celebrate my friends kids birthday and had a great time. I havent been back here since I was a child, and Im glad they still have some iconic structures around. Theyve definitely revamped the place and spruced it up, but it can use some more touching up, like a new paint job in specific areas.
This is a place that Ive been going to ever since I was born. It truly holds a special place in my heart. My mom and I always take my autistic brother here since he loves this place so much. Its a peaceful location with very kind and welcoming staff. Kids would definitely enjoy this place, and families can throw birthdays and celebrations for their little ones as well.
This place is great for little ones. My 3.5 year old had a blast. The puppet show and rides were perfect for him. The park is just the right size for toddlers. But if you are in the south bay, this may just be a once or twice trip. Stick to Happy Hollow for a similar and closer experience!
I like this place a tiny tiny bit more than the Los Angeles, CA location. The wait was pretty long on the weekend, but we had fun. OFF NOTE: I wish people knew how to drive better though @ K1 and ON the OUTSIDE ROADS. Def would come back again.
We took our grandson Danny to Griffith Park for him to experience the train ride. We all enjoyed it. It was fun. Reminded me of rides of back in the day at Knotts. We left for home back to Alhambra, While ending our fantastic day with a quick visit to McDonalds. The Moral of the story is live life to the fullest one day at a time because tomorrows not promised... its granted.
Thank you wild life learning center!! I did the sloth social and it was the best day ever!! I also loved all the other animals you hadSuch a beautiful place I highly recommend wild life learning center to everyone! I will definatley return.
I absolutely love Griffith Park & Southern Railroad. Ever since my son started running around its been a great place to bring him to run around get all that energy out. Been coming here since I was a kid but Ive recently have become a member as of 2 years now. They have doing a great job with restoration and repairs these days. Repainting, repairing things, and putting in new turf grass. It looks a lot better then when I went as a kid.
Went for the first time this summer and it was great! excellent for toddlers with cool rides and lots to see. only bad part was my kids werent big enough to ride the carousel. oh well next year..
Ive come to realize just how amazing this place is! It is so charming and loads of fun. My previous 4-star review was tainted by my initial impression as an adult visiting on an especially crowded Saturday. Disregard that grumpy, tired mom... I now love this place almost as much as my child does.
Love this place! I wish there was something similar in Los Angeles where we live. Its perfect for my 2 and 4 year old.
Loooved it here. It could use some updating and fresh paint here & there but other than that its great place to take a kid. & CHEAP!!
Soo much to do! The merry go round, ferris wheel and train are free!! There is a fun music tunnel, slides. Fun grass hill to slide down with boxes. Few animals
My son loves this place! And for parents it’s great too. It’s not too overwhelming and the prices are excellent for a good time. The pony rides are incredibly fun for the kids, the petting zoo is a great experience full of different small farm animals, and the train and buggy ride are great additions as well! They also have a snack bar in case the kiddies need a little something. There are not too many places in LA $20 can go so far! Thank you for such an amazing time every time!
This is a great place for kids to explore and have fun-! I took my son when he was 18 month old and he had such great time-!Highly recommended-!!
It is a nice family place but is closed do to covi
Cant wait for this to reopen.. we always bring the kids here and have a great time. Its especially for 6 and under.. such a great experience for the little train lovers.
This is one of our sons most favorite places to go. He always looks forward to seeing Edgar and Roy, his favorite conductors...they are such warm and kind people and they always make him feel like hes a celebrity! Its truly their welcoming personality and the genuine joy that they project that makes the experience so wonderful for us each and every time.
My son has autism and absolutely love trains but is terrified of horses. I want them open the train rides!!!
Always love the atmosphere here..Im glad Mr. Griffith did something good for our city by preserving a little bit of nature in such a busy city. My son calls this his journey train. You can always go for a short hike anywhere in the park. Come check it out Im sure you will find something you will like and you will get some fresh air .
This place is gave me one of the most cherished memories of my childhood I recently rediscovered this place on accident and got off to look around for a while I remember asking my mother and father if they remembered taking me to a place that had a lot of trains as a child I was fascinated with Thomas the train and this place just left a memory I’ll never forget I remember coming here only twice but it’s just how I remembered it️ can’t wait to bring my little one here one day and happy to know it’s still running
This is a cute little train station for toddlers and little kids. My toddlers had a great time and got so excited to see and ride the train. The prices are cheap and the employees are nice. I definitely recommend taking your kids here.
Love this Tradition of the Railroad and Pony Rides. My parents took me when I was little and I love taking my kids now. Seems like prices havent changed much since I was a Child either. Train ride is $2.75 and Pony Rides $5. I would gladly pay a little more because the memories we get in return are priceless.
My kids loved coming here. We had never been. Definitely coming for the holidays to ride the train when it is decorated for christmas. Inexpensive and free parking, cant beat it for a cheap outing with the kids.
Had the most awesome time in December going through tunnel of Christmas lights and many other features along the train ride and food available and on regular seasons it’s fun to enjoy a nice train ride with kids and nice staff!!! It’s not expensive.
I have been coming here since I was a child now that I am an adult I have children of my own and now I am BringingThem here. The location has not changed much since I used to go there they have added some new decorations in new tweaks to the track to make it more appealing so thats a plus the views are nice The staff is OK prices are good If I remember correctly it was about $3 per person per ride. I enjoy this place and I will continue to come here.
This area (Southern Railway) has a very small petting zoo, pony rides, and a one-lap train ride. Not much room to picnic or let the kids run around. We actually preferred Travel Town in Griffith Park, about 10 minutes away.
Very fun, relaxing place, for $6 all ages kids can ride ponies and horses. Fun train ride too.
Come on, ride the train,Hey, ride it, woo woo. - Cmon Ride It (the Train), Quad City DJsHaving some time to kill before boarding the shuttle to the Greek, I thought a thrilling ride on the Griffith Park choo choo sounded just right.Prices are cheap for a 9 minute ride.My caboose hardly fits in the cabooseThe signs says to keep hands & feet inside cars. Doesnt specify other body parts ;pAnd, a-here we go!Oh, this ride isnt too badWait, whu? Oh Gawd, were going too fast!!!!!AAGH! We almost hit that structure!Oh no! Im claustrophobic! Let me off, let me off! Please! Please! No more!Whew! We made it!Quite a fun ride! A cheap way to entertain the kids (big & small). I only peed myself a lil ;p The horse/pony rides were closed for the day, so I didnt get to check it out this time.Gracias, Senor conductor!
My daughter loved it and it brought back alot of memories for my husband as a child
Go to the OLD ZOO. Its an amazing remnant of what used to be the zoo and there are old cages to play around in with kids, take photos, etc. It could get a bit spooky at night so venture towards the Griffith Observatory when the sun goes down to see the stars and the LA skyline. There are lots of hiking paths, lots of playgrounds, great grassy areas for picnics, and its so huge that you will always find something cool to do there.
I just went with my 20 months daughter last week and she had too much fun ridding the ponies.. Price is good $5 for each ride, I was able to walk along with her during the ride.. I thought she was going to be little bit nervous, but she got comfortable wanted to keep riding couple more times. I definitely recommend this place for toddlers.
Beautiful atmosphere lots of fun very cool make sure you come bundled up
My kid loves this place and so do I!!! Bonus that it’s right next to the Pony Rides! We get to ride the train around a super cute track and he rides the pony and, depending on the day planned, we ride the train again or just have a picnic.
Get there early or avail yourself of the Fast Pass option when getting tickets; either works fine if you have time to spare.
Its a huge park, fresh air, fun for kids under 3 years
Love bringing my kids here, I just wish they had better bathrooms and that they kept it a bit cleaner overall. Also would rate higher if the food stand options consisted of at least one or two vegan things. Otherwise its fun and affordable for pony rides with at least three riding levels, starting as young as infant stage to early teens. The train ride is also fun, especially during their Christmas light show, except the line can get a little insane.
My son loves to come, we all enjoy the train ride.
I love the ride but to short smells bad to slow and its boring
Holiday Train line went by fast. Had 3 trains running
$3 for kids $3.50 for adults quick 5 minute ride. My 4 year old had a great time!
Remembering my first time going here was with my boyfriend his parents and three boys for the first time. Enjoying are time getting to see his boys enjoy Griffith Park & Southern Railroad Park was not only the look in their eyes. As they get to be kids John, Zack and Daniel faces especially since Zack has always loved Trains since I could remember stories my boyfriend, his parents will tell me I always think of the Trains passing by as My Nieces are fond of the Trains just like everyone Dreams of becoming a Professional Train Engineer working Railroad One Day. Ill make sure my boyfriend 2nd oldest son Zack Dreams come true in becoming a Professional Railroad Train Engineer when he grows up to become an adult as he always talking about Trains.
I’ve been coming here since I myself was I child and recently took my 1.5 yr old for the first time and she loved it. $3.50 for adults, kids under 19 months are free.
The train ride is actually longer than I expected. My daughter loves going over the bridge and through the tunnel. My mom used to bring me here when I was little and it has hardly changed at all. In a world where things are always changing and old things disappear its amazing that there are still some experiences from my youth that I can share with my daughter just as they were back in the old days.
Cute and easy train ride. About 10 minutes long. Perfect for toddlers. Afterwards we rode the ponies right next door. Train ride $3.50. Pony ride $5. Weekday isnt busy and easy to park at the designated parking lot..
Personal experience was nice cuz my daughter enjoyed it, the train and the horse ride was nice and fun....
This place is great for kids! They a miniature train ride, which kids love. Other activities include a roller coaster stimulator and horses to ride. Prices are fair and employees are friendly. After you finish all the activities you can relax at the park. I definitely recommend this place.
Its a nice little break when the keeps need to burn off some energy and the train rides are so cute!
Really awesome for the kids. Loads of fun since you can enjoy it with them. Cheap tickets. Plenty of parking. Gets busy on the weekends especially the horse rides.
Train spree! stone cold ice cream paired with the one-ofa-kind engines here... priceless ! Google SafeSearch
Great for little ones. $3 Train & $5 pony rides. You can bring your own lunch and have an outdoor picnic
Big park in Los Angeles. We bring our bikes but we couldnt use it with my 7 years old boy. So I stayed with him at the railroad area. My teenagers went to ride and found a little stepped the route. Next time we will plan a better way to enjoy this beautiful place.
My friends and I do some hikes here from time to time. Be careful at night considering we had to fight off some Coyotes which was way too similar to Liam Neeson in the Grey for our liking. However, the view is always worth it no matter what kind of Adventure you end up in at Griffith Park. Dont drink in public or smoke a ciggy here though because the Rangers will get you in trouble for that. However, this is the best damn nature escape there is in Los Angeles. A must for travelers and locasls alike.
This is just gem of Los Angels, if your from out of town with children you must come enjoy the park, with train rides, pony rides, petting zoo, all for a small fee, its a family place for sure.
Nice place and the food is good there too.
Great place to spend a afternoon with good food from vendors and affordable rides.
Cashier Arlene A needs to be re-train in customer service skills. Upon reaching window to purchase tickets, no greeting and no facial expression on her part. So I just requested my tickets and handed her the money. My change and tickets were given to me the same cold way as when I got to the window.
Nice place to go with young kids, 3 to 10 years. The train ride is entertaining for the little ones, though a bit cramped for full sized adults.
We have been here several times for hiking trips and nature walks. the facility has a lot of great infrastructure like picnic tables, BBQs, play structures for the kids and of course a lot of great hiking trails. Most of them are pretty steep so choose carefully if you have young children or older family members. We wanted to walk up to the Hollywood Sign, we did not realise just how big Griffith Park was. Wow what a view from the top. Thoroughly enjoyable and well appointed with trails, highly recommended if you want to get out of the hustle and bustle and get some excercise.
Cane to the Christmas ride. God bless this place is for all to enjoy during holidays and Christmas time. The happy faces for the kids is all worth the wait.
Very fun, longer ride than you would think and you might see a coyote lounging around too.
Simple fun ride for small kids. Plenty of free parking. They decore for Christmas. Be sure to pass with the little ones. Cheap tickets $2.50 to help keep it running. Has been there for decades.
Toddler loved the train ride, petting the goats/rabbits and riding the pony.
Nice Christmas ride for kids.
WoW please go this is Vintage for me at my age I was happily surprised the Pony rides are still alive and well for the Children to experience
Nice ride. The track could be made more interesting.
Small, but great for little kids. Good price and great fun!
Awesome place to enjoy with family and friends. Good for all ages. Amazing train ride. Blessed to enjoy it during the holidays. I encourage you to share the deLightful experience. Come early, sells out quickly.
Love it great place to take your kids or die hard train fans..cool mini train the whole family can ride
Was a tril were I went since I was 6 it truly bring joy.
Great place to take your kids and enjoy train ride, pony ride and other animals.
Affordable entertainment for the kiddie crowd!
The best place ever. Take mt 3 yr old niece here every chance i can
I always love trains even amusement park ones
Besides the machine operator looked kind of creepy and drunk was a good ride.
A nice ride on the little train, cheap, and you dont have to wait long in line to get on the ride
Came here with my family, and we rode the train for our very first time. It was amazing! 3$ entrance was definitely worth the price, my 8 month old baby girl loves the train ride and scenary. Train drive was very nice . Great customer service . Beautiful area to be in . If you havent made it this way yet with your family, defiantly would recommend . If you get there in the mornings lines arent long. There is pony rides that are there for the children and you can tell the animals are treated well, they have misters for them to stay cooled down . Love this place . The park around there is also a beautiful scenary to drive. This place is my sanity.
If you are not afraid of too many people in one place, go there and youll have a great time. Line are long but goes pretty fast.
Love the Christmas attractions.
I went here with my wife and son to check out the Holiday Train Ride. It was really cool to see the place decorated with Christmas Lights while taking a ride in the train. The ride lasted about 10 minutes, and some parts of the ride were near the horses, so if you are sensitive to that horse/barn smell, be forewarned. Taller individuals may find the seating uncomfortable, I am 5 9 and my knees were almost touching the seat in front of me.
Our car broke down and we were forced to leave it here, I love that they respected that and did not remove the car when we were gone.
$3.50 for adults and $3 for children. Its a short loop but still fun.
