First of all, the Ace Theater is one of the most beautiful theaters in LA. But, all of the theaters of that era that havent been changed too much are beautiful. The way the layout of this theater is, it doesnt matter where you sit, you have an incredible view of the stage. It is a very intimate setting. Even if youre at the very top of the upper balcony sitting.Second, the employees are so friendly and beyond helpful. And very knowledgeable as well. I was asking one where our seats were and she just asked what the letter and numbers where before they were allowing people to be seated and she painted a very vivid picture of where it was. I had no problem finding the seats at all. She was amazing!!If you have a show to watch at this theater, you will enjoy it very much.
The Theatre at Ace Hotel has slowly turned into my movie theatre of choice especially after my experience in the CINERAMA DOME for epic movie watching. The popcorn is UN-beatable. If you dont like popcorn, this will change your mind. The Theatre at Ace Hotel s popcorn is light and fluffy, salty and seriously addicting.
Great service and lovely staff. I cant wait to go again. We saw grease 2 here and maxwell cauliflower was the guest. He was so pleasant and an amazing honest
The interior is gorgeous. You are transmitted back in time when architecture mattered. Classy. Bathrooms are clean. Every seat is a good seat. Prices for concession stand is fairly reasonable. Parking garage within walking distance, right around the corner. $10. Also you can park at The Mayan right across the street. Acoustics are great for concerts.
We were here for The Revolution.Epic, magical performance in the purple Gothic Ace. The ushers were beyond my expectations. I used a 4 wheel walker. ADA was not a problem for personal needs. The interior was Majestic. Acoustics were flowing. Seats were tight in the orchestra. We were dancing the entire time.
Security company Staff Pro now changes company and is now allied universal guard. Needs to lose their contract with this building. Not only are the supervisors are unprofessional the way they treat their employees is inhumane. While working for this theatre as a guard. They did not give us all lunch breaks, even fired people there when they were scheduled to work and lied on them saying they werent scheduled to work.
Beautiful theatre. The architecture is stunning. The layout of this small venue is great. Hospitality to get beverages was somewhat easy. Beverage servers were nice with personality. Dealing with the guest must have been challenging since the several that were in front of me were rude to the server and then had to wait for them to find money to pay. The server was patient and maintained a smile.
Amazing theater with beautiful architecture and friendly staff. I attended this venue for a Christmas concert and enjoyed the whole experience. The seats are comfortable and every seat in the theater seemed to have a great view of the stage. I highly recommend checking this theater out for any event being held here.
Great venue for a concert, gives you the same feeling as the Mann Chinese Theater. Nostalgic and beautiful. Great piece of L.A. history. We saw probably one of best rap shows last night with Iconic M.C. Common(Sense). Energetic and straight up bangin and the brotha did 4 song encore.
The place is beautiful on the inside. The ceiling and archways were not expected and I had a great time. I do think they need a faster way to sell alcohol, the lines were packed
This is a beautiful space in a not so beautiful neighborhood (I got followed and harassed walking from a coffee shop just 10 minutes away), but I’m not docking stars for that. The reason for my poor review is that the staff seemed woefully unprepared for a sold out event. They couldn’t handle the merchandise line, or keep it from blending with the bathroom line that was coming up the stairs on both sides. They couldn’t handle lines outside the venue and local restaurant owners and parking staff began to try to control it for safety reasons. They didn’t have enough staff to stop people from recording or taking photos despite the artist’s request that this be done (the artist was posting about this in preparation for the second showing the following night, and it may have improved then). If your theater holds 1600 people, you need to be prepared for what comes with hosting 1600 people, and they were not.
Awesome theatre... so much history behind it. Beautiful design, architecture. Will go back for sure.
Cool Spanish gothic interior vs the typical art deco of the period. Built in 27.
Beautiful theatre, the decor is stunning and the atmosphere is great. Small but clean bathrooms and easily accessible bars. However the upstairs seating is super tight, I have short legs and my knees were pressed up against the seat in front uncomfortably. This didnt ruin the night though and we still came out feeling positive about the venue.
It was my first time back in awhile, such a great, small intimate venue. Any seat is good. Thanks to the LA LGBT Center & Cap UCLA for a great night with Soul Rebels, Macy Gray & Big Freedia. An eclectic crowd and amazing energy.
Attended the premiere of Kevin Smiths new film at the Ace Hotel. It was my first time visiting this location and it was just a lovely venue.
We went off-peak times so our reservations were within our budget. I upgraded to a king primere with a 18-24 floor view. When i got there they gave me a free corner king upgrade. It was an amazing hotel room with great views!! The beds were clean and comfy. Great location too and the staff were all nice. 4 starts
A wonderful afternoon at the opera. Beautiful theater....cozy....convenient parking.
We enjoyed the show. Black Violinist was great. The seats were really close together with not much leg room. We had to get up evrytime someone walked by but still enjoyed the show.
Great sound and a very historic theater. The theater last evening was ice cold and it was the equivalent of watching an outdoor concert. Parking can be a challenge and all the lots nearby are cash only!!! The neighborhood is transitioning and there are a significant amount of restaurants nearby.
Caught a burlesque show here. And really enjoyed it sheet youre comfortable. They have a lot of shows. And restaurants in walking distance. Full bar in great acoustics
The theater itself is a work of art. When you walk in receding is through curtained openings on your right after you pass the stairs going to the balcony area. The seats on the floor were actually rather comfortable and wide enough for someone like me with broad shoulders. The stage is very large. The only complaint is the concessions. I spent $8 on a large popcorn that was a small paper container. Haswell, $4 for water that was barely more than one cup.
Vintage cute theatre. Concessions are pretty expensive. It costs $4 for a small bottle of water. It is worth just walking around and enjoying Historic Core DTLA. The theatre is big and the seats are what you expect for an historic place.
What an amazing experience. The venue is spectacular, bringing you back to the golden age of Hollywood. The architecture, the style, everything about this venue is breathtaking. The staff were fantastic and friendly. And looking at the Up coming shows, they bring in some amazing talent, in an large but intimate setting. I’ll be on the look out for future shows. And Liz Phair was amazing!!!
Such an interesting venue. Intriguing, beautiful design! We saw Yann Tiersen there, it was magical!!! The upper balcony row was extremely tight though, hardly space enough for legs. We were on row J, I believe. Recommend tall people to get different row.In the lobby there were at least 3 or 4 concession stands, so if the first level has a line, go upstairs! They sold water, beer, wine, liquor, popcorn, chocolates. Nice staff! We came after 7pm on a weekday and easily found free street parking nearby.
A restored Theater with beautiful architecture. A must see
The theater was gorgeous. We saw Kasey Musgraves there. I would go to a show there again but choose better seats next time. We bought tickets in the upper balcony level and I would not recommend going at all if you can not afford tickets in a better location. Also the leg space was less than an economy flight - very uncomfortable seating -
Went here for an award show. Won bigly and had an epic stay in the hotel. It was bad to the bone. Cool theatre. Real vintage feels. Overall I give it an A++. Take care folks.
Speechless after Jay Shetty. Wow. Amazing architecture, deep meaning, intricacies in everything here minus the floor! I can imagine all the entertainment and life that has flowed thru here over the years.
Probably one of the most beautiful theatres in all of Los Angeles. historic filled with amazing intricate designs this is the best place to see shows!
Excellent venue in old United Artist Building... Great Christmas Extravaganza...
Tonights opening night production of STARKID 10th Anniversary have die hard fans traveling over 1300 miles to stand in line for more than two hours just to see this once in a life time opportunity. GO STARKID!
The ornate aesthetics & saturation of rich history is why I give it 5 stars. The sound set up is good. However, the show I saw was not too enjoyable with the staff running back and forth trying to control the inconsiderate (expletive delete) people roaming around and blocking everybody else viewing experience.
Lost my wallet? They let me go to my car, find it, and come back in, no problem. Lost my smartphone? Yeah, it was a night. They had a lost and found where some good person returned it. I was in a back row seat under the balcony, yet the sound and the view were great. Loved the ambiance of the lobby. Staff was polite and professional.
This is a great venue. There is a restaurant, roof top bar, and theater. Lots of fun!
The theatre is beautiful! I saw Common with my aunt and absolutely loved the show. The acoustics were great and the vibe very sexy. Enjoy!
The place is gorgeous! The art deco decor is its own show. I sat in the front row in the balcony and it was a great view. I really love this place. Theres $10 parking around the corner which is cheaper than the theatre parking.
Staff here is usually very helpful and friendly - the ushers, the security, bartenders, telephone staff. If the show is not a sellout, they will sometimes have staff that offer to upgrade your ticket for free. This is extra work for them but they are happy to do it.Good sound quality at this theater, even in the cheap seats.
The theatre at the ace hotel is unlike any other. Super friendly and helpful staff, the Spanish gothic architecture is in believable and the sound system is phenomenal!
Beautiful theater that presents really cool programming. Ive seen several experimental and indie pop acts here. Sound system is great but neglects the top balcony which is a big bummer if thats the only section you can afford. Also, the listening environment is a little disappointing cause the crowd tends to be filled with a lot of chatty influencers and folks there to socialize rather than hear music.
Beautiful decor, great acoustics! The ushers were very helpful. Its a gorgeous, intimate, seated venue, a perfect concert setting. And did I mention how beautiful it is?
Gorgeous renovated old timey movie theater with an eerie gothic feel. Every inch of this place oozes opulence from days past. Sound is okay for live acts and the seats/aisles are tight. An absolutely beautiful venue!
Great classical gem. Theater has the charm that many of the new ones are missing.
A beautiful venue w two bars in the front lobby serving snacks and cocktails. Ive been here for a couple different events and had a blast every time whered its a concert or a podcast booktour!
THE THEATRE @ ACE HOTEL DTLALos Angeles Historic Cultural Monument (LAHCM) #523 and Movie PalaceFormer United Artists TheatreSpanish Gothic Cathedral Movie Palace built in 1927 by United Artists film studio (Co-Founders Douglas Fairbanks, Mary Pickford, Charlie Chaplin, and David Wark Griffith), designed by Architect Charles Howard Crane of firm Walker & Eisen. One of several movie palaces erected by United Artists during the 1920s Golden Age of Old Hollywood, this one along with its adjacent tower served as the headquarters of United Artists and was the tallest building in LA at the time of its completion. In 2014, the theatre was restored and along with the tower, converted to a hotel as part of the Ace Hotels chain.
This venue has an amazing sound set-up. I was intrigued by the gothic architecture in the inside. I would definitely come back
No other words. Magnificent!
The inside of this theater is absolutely gorgeous. The detailing in everything is astounding. I attended a concert here, and the acoustics worked really well for the performance. I loved the size of the theater. Even though I sat in the balcony, it felt like I was still close to the stage and I could see everything that was going on.
What a stunning venue. Very well preserved, and facilities are just brilliant. Went for a podcast live recording and couldnt have had a better place for it.
Theater Ace has an intimate setting that’s perfect for catching you’re favorite artists or acts live. Any seat in the house is good seat.
Beautiful Theatre in downtown El Lay . Good sound and several bars on different floors. Yes it all depends on who or what you are there to enjoy but ornate old theatre is a visit in its own right! Plenty of parking all around the venue and several bars and restaurants also very local.
Absolutely beautiful theater. I saw Tori Amos there on December 1st. Tori was spectacular as always. And The Theater at Ace Hotel was the perfect venue for her performance. The lobby could use some sort of signage or something rather indicating where one might find their seats. Or at least knowledgeable staff.
Beautiful place inside, the design is amazing.. im no audiophile, but I was not very impressed with the sound, I went to see Gregory Allan Isakov, and his sound was crisp and clear, but there was another band before him that were more rockier, and their sound to me was terrible, so its probably a great place to see an acoustic, folk band, I thoroughly enjoyed Gregory Allan Isakov sound
The Ace is stunning and a really great venue. Ive seen three shows here and theyve all been great.
Such a spectacular venue with a clear view from every seat, too.
We went there for a NYE it was awesome the theater was like Antoni Gaudi building
What an extraordinary venue!!!! Not only gorgeous but very intimate! Thank you Sheryl Crow, AWESOME SHOW!!!!
When you walk into this theater, its as if youve stepped back in time. Beautiful architecture. I hope they never tear this theater down to put up some generic multiplex.
Beautiful historic theater venue in downtown LA. Formerly known as the United Artists Theater.Allow yourself plenty of time to check out the architecture and soak in the vibe of the place before the show begins.Downstairs restrooms and phone booths really give the place an authentic, vintage feel. You feel important when you are here, which, of course, is the hallmark of good architecture.Shorter drink lines on the mezzanine, which also offers great people watching opportunities.
Its like watching a show in a cave. But often theres lots of LA transplant trash that come, get drunk and talk through the show. Worst crowds. Too bad its such a lovely venue and hosts lots of good bands. Its nice that they have seats for old immortals such as myself.
Beautiful place. there is always a different events love working here as security..
Gorgeous theatre! Super expensive drinks... 18 dollar tall boys yikes ! Definitely pregame... If your a girl.. the bathroom situation here is terrible for you
Cool old space for a concert. Parking in the area is downright reasonable ($7-10 for a couple block walk). Consession lines were kind of long even though they had a lot of different locations open. Sound was good. Overall I will go back if any artist Im interested in plays there in the future.
So much almost real Baroque architecture. Awesome venue all the same.
Lovely interior design, friendly staff, and amazing sound performance at this venue. One of the finest venues in L.A. A must go for concert goers.
Beautiful space. Great location. Sound was good
We had a great time seeing Paula Poundstone. Seats were good, although a little uncomfortable. Theyre old. The theatre itself is extremely ornate bordering on garish. Convenient parking garage for a$12 flat rate. We had a great time.
Great intimate venue for seeing music. Sadly the Bar/Alcohol services lacked some the most basic ingredients to make a good drink.
Beautiful place to see a small concert, definitely worth checking out.
Awesome restoration of a 1920s theatre, the carvings around the entire room are just gorgeous. The only problems I had were that the sits dont have enough leg room so for the star wars marathon I went to see it became very uncomfortable ( my wife is 5 2 and I am 5 10 and we both had problems) and if there is some one sitting in front of you and your sitting on the upper balcony then you might have trouble seeing the screen/stage, even if the person is average size...but over all its an awesome experience, will recommend
This is a small theatre in LA but there is not a bad seat in the house. It’s a real treat coming here for a performance. The Gothic Spanish architecture is a show in itself. It’s just astonishingly beautiful !
This place is beautiful. All the little details can be missed if you dont take some time to look around at everything this place has to offer Im the way of decor. The sound system is incredibly clean which is obviously important for enjoying anything live. The staff were all very personable which may or may not mean something to you. There really wasnt a bad seat in the house from what I could tell. Overall, I would certainly suggest coming to enjoy events here.
Such a beautiful theatre inside. Had a great experience seeing a show here.
Beautiful and historic building; exterior and interior. Recommend seeing a shoe here at least once.
Beautiful theater that makes you feel like youre in a magical wonderland
Saw a nearly 5 hour dungeons and dragons live show there. Great venue but lobby and restroom facilities are a bit small for a full house.
We saw Paula Poundstone. The theater is beautiful. It is a long friendly atmosphere. We had a great time.
Still a beautiful venue to see a performance.
I love this space. Its like some underground, ornately adorned grotto. While seating walkways are very tight, the seats are comfy, the sightlines good, and the sound resonant.
A magical place! Came here to watch Bat for Lashes.
Love the look and feel of this place. Rooftop is amazing too. Beautiful view
Such a great venue! Just saw Bill Nye The Science Guy there. This place is so gorgeous and historic. All seats are great seats here, comfortable, easy parking.
Incredibly historic venue! I was in awe as soon as an walked in the doors.
Amazing interior design, festooned with captivating frescoes and intricate crenulations.
Beautiful venue! Very regal, intricate architecture. A sight to behold.
Came here for a friends movie screening. Very posh movie theater. Nice wide seats and wide aisles. Service is top notch.
Top balcony womens bathroom has two stalls. Yeah, that was fun.
Freaking beautiful theater. I was on the very side and still had a perfect view. But seriously, get there early and look around. Its beautiful
Needs more restrooms and it was hot in the theater. Expected this for its age. Good view from the balcony and great acoustics. Beautiful old school ornate detail, I love the mural of old United film stars!
Beautiful venue. Parking is easy. Staff friendly. Overall one of the top venues in LA
The venue has a beautiful gothic aesthetic with amazing lighting, murals, and ceiling. The viewing angles from the balcony arent the greatest but overall a great experience.
I saw Starkid Homecoming, it was amazing! A beautiful, welcoming theatre. I had bought balcony tickets, but I was given an extra orchestra ticket!
Very awesome! A bit tight on new years, but nothing that made you dislike bring there
Beautiful sights and beautiful sounds!
Great theater, very comfortable. Met Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots there!
Beautiful concert hall! Came here to see Wardruna. Loved it.
