What a gem of a park. My family and I have been a few times. Its a very well kept park. The trails are in tip top shape and the majority of them are suitable for all ages. You have some elevation changes, but there are resting benches along the trail. Great place for health and history. Lots of areas for picnicking. A super clean restroom. A couple of vending machines are available at the restroom area. There arent a whole lot of parking spaces, but you can park up and down the road, once youre in the park. Make sure to go down to the caves! Great views of the Yadkin river. I certainly suggest taking the drive to enjoy the park!

A lot of fun. This park has a bunch to explore and some possible fun history to it. We were able to see wildlife first hand, check out the neat caves, and sit by the Yadkin River. The wetlands trail was very interesting, and they have campsites available. Theres still so much left for us to explore.

I’m embarrassed to say that I grew up in Davidson Co and had never visited Boone’s Cave until my late 60s. I grew up hearing my mother taking about going there as a young girl. Anyway, it was worth the wait. While the walk down the long steps might be challenging to some, a slow pace allows you to enjoy the mountain like surroundings. It’s hard to believe you aren’t in the mountains. Parking area clean, well maintained. Plenty of trails. I’ll visit again for sure. I like to believe that Squire Boone and his family did spend time here.

Nice park and good trails. We did cave and wildflower trail. It was easy-moderate. The trail is nice and clear. Its also shaded. The moderate is the uphill climb back to the parking lot from the river. But, come on, what goes down must come back up . The facilities were open and clean. Plenty of parking available, and not too busy.

My kids and I loved this park! The cave itself is quite small, but its interesting to see. You can go inside, but its shallow and not dangerous. Great for photo ops! In addition, the wetlands hike was amazing. The pond was filled with tadpoles and tiny frogs, many of which covered the trail like a moving carpet. We had to be very careful not to step on them! (Of course, this situation may no longer exist during your visit.) The boardwalk allowed us to walk through wetlands and forest easily. Finally, Boones Peak offers a short but quite strenuous hike. Not good for small children or folks with special needs but perfect otherwise for getting in some genuine exercise for a short burst of 10 to 15 minutes. When we were done, my step counter was only at 3,500, and I joked that it was broken because it felt like wed hiked at least 15 miles!

Wide, We’ll marked, well-maintained trails. Some interesting diversions like a boardwalk through the wetlands and the creek trail as well as a high point. Most trails were shady so good for a hot day. Able to get to the water On the river. Covered area. Parking can be a challenge. We arrived Early so was no problem by 1 o’clock it was packed..Cave is small

Very buggy so bring good bug spray. But it’s nature so it is what is it is.The worst part is how poorly the trails are marked. We wanted to take the Backcountry Trail (Orange) but never saw an orange marker and the trail seemed to be washed away and closed along the River. Probably would be a good idea to make note of that on the map by the bathroom. (See 1st and last pic)Additionally the map is just wrong. In the middle two pictures you can see where the Overlook Trail (purple) crosses the Backcountry Trail (Orange), but looking at the map that never should happen. Hard to get your bearings when that happens! The map is also clearly wrong because it says the stairs to the cave (if you can call that tiny thing a cave) are to the left of the parking lot when you come in when they’re clearly on the right. Finally there seems to be a disc golf course overlaying these trails. But the disc golf course trails were unmarked except for the “holes” and “tees”.TLDR: small, buggy, not well marked.

Good park to take a family to locally. Folks complaining about mosquitoes and bugs are unrealistically & dramatic: its nature, its along a river, its a park. There are going to be bugs, snakes, and wildlife.Enjoy this little gem in Davidson County for a half day excursion or rugged trail running.

This park is a peaceful respite from the city. We walked the very muddy cottonwood trail and to the cave. Next time we will do the peak trail loop which is supposed to be two miles. Nice that they have restrooms, vending machines, several picnic shelters and tables and a fun sign showing distance to cities around the US. The old loggers trail is steep! Nice that there are small benches along the trails to rest.

This is a beautiful park with easy, short trails. The trail to the cave was recently closed due to flooding, but still accessible through multiple flights of stairs. There was direct access to Yadkin River for fishing. Various plants are identified on placards. Part of the trail includes a bridge over wetlands. We had so much fun exploring the land!

I have lived in lexington for 15 years, and have known about boones cave, but today we decided to check it out since it was close.I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. The park sits at ghe end of boones cave road. It has 2 parking areas, bathrooms and very nice picnic shelter. The park has 7 miles of hiking trails along the yadkin river and a place to drop in your kayak. The park also recently added a 9 hole disc golf course and if you dont have disc dont worry, you can borrow them from the park office.Bring some water and bug spray, and you are ready for a nice afternoon hike close to Lexington.

Great little park tucked away on a back country road. The park was very clean and up kept. Some of the trails are blocked off at the moment due to storm flooding but the cave is still open. We expected a small shallow cave but it surprisingly went back pretty far... My fiancé went so far back I couldnt see him anymore. Pretty cool spot with a beautiful walkway down to the cave. Also the misquotes are absolutely horrible from the flooding, only complaint I have but thats out of the parks control.

Beautiful trails but due to the recent rains and flooding the entire area was thick with mosquitoes. I have never seen so many mosquitoes. They were literally swarming us in clouds. The Deep Woods Off didnt even make them blink. And several areas the steps have been washed out because of the flooding. We will definitely go back, but in cooler weather when its dried out a bit... ;)

This is a smaller local park. It has several picnic tables and great walking and biking trails. No fees to get in. There is a vending machine area but no concession stands. The cave is interesting but small. The trails along the river and the marsh area are well kept and traveled, and the stairs going down the one side are fairly new and in good shape. I would highly recommend mosquito spray if hiking. It is in the Yadkin river flood plain, so keep in mind the river level, they may close some of the trails.

Very short hikes, trails are a little wacky and criss cross all over. The put-in for kayaks is down a trail I wouldn’t want to hike while carrying a kayak.Lots of signs telling you not to break the rules and to get the hell out of the park before they close. The “ranger” or whoever is unfriendly, doesn’t smile wave or say hello. As a former park guide I can tell you that’s a bad sign. He also rides around the trails on a 4x4, so you’ll still have motorized vehicles to contend with. It’s a nice little park in a particularly hilly area along the Yadkin. Some decent short hikes and close to Salisbury where I live. For kayaking go up the road to Yadkin river park, they have a convenient boat ramp.Good place for checking out the flora and fauna, one thing I did appreciate about the park was the number of Plant ID signs. Oh and there’s a cave

While no longer a state park, Boones Cave is a fantastic example of strong park stewardship by a county. For such a small park, it is maintained extremely well. The bathrooms are sparkling clean, heated, with outlets and hooks on the wall for jackets and purses; the campsites are clean and have lantern hooks on posts; there are fully operational vending machines in a common area near the bathrooms, and the trails are kept free of debris. The offering here is small but its earnest and youll feel like youre on family land. Its a special place.
