Nice place to learn history. Beautiful garden. People are doing picnic with required social distance. Beautiful fall colors to enjoy
Nice to see a few statues showing Lexington history. Great place to park while hitting the bicycle trail. Great shops and food open
Very cool to see this history and it has great sights to see.
On the morning of April 19, 1776, after receiving word from Paul Revere that 700 British soldiers were marching to Concord to seize weapons. At dawn on the morning of the 19th about 77 militia men met about 400 British Soldiers, shot rang out, thus beginning the American Revolution. Today the Lexington Green is a well-manicured park in the heart of Lexington, MA.There are several monuments dedicated to the brave patriots who stood up to tyranny. Across the street is Buckman’s Tavern where the Militia had gathered the night before awaiting the British arrival.
Beautiful. The park rangers r very friendly & nice
Got our coffee downtown & went to the Commons & sat on a bench & drank it. Very pleasant view!
I went to Lexington yesterday and it was awesome seeing the shops and people eating ice cream on the streets.
I love American history, and Lexington is beautiful. Its my favorite time period, and the plaques and memorials were all very moving
Its just a beautiful park. Nice to sit with friends and have lunch
Background: Approximately 700 British troops left Boston for Concord by way of Lexington to seize rebel arms (and perhaps leaders). They first encountered militias in Lexington (close to 80 men). The opening battle of the revolution ensued. One British soldier was killed and eight militia were killed. The British continued on to ConcordNow: What you see us a peaceful village Green with several memorials. The Patriot battle line is bounded by an inscribed Boulder on one end and an obelisk on the other (seven of the eight fallen Patriots are buried there). There is also a statue of one of the Patriot leaders, Captain John Parker. The village Green is surrounded by historic homes and churches. This is a very concentrated slice of history.
Nice area to walk around
Great place to sit down with friends, and family.
I finally woke up at 4am to see the April reenactment. I had a great time. Fortunately a local told me where to park. I would have rated it higher had there been available more information about the activities that occur after or later in the day. All-in-all, I do recommend visiting this place at any time of year. Local shopping and eateries are the quality one would expect from a New England town where the average house price is well north of 1 million dollars.
Wonderful place, great town!
The tour guide made this place a 5 star. Just a tower with words...but the tour guide knew the history of surrounds houses/taverns, where the fighting started. That is what made the place
So much emotion and history! We parked behind the depot at a lot; only $4 for the day. It took us a full day (9 to 5) to see everything and tour the three buildings. There are more signs down near Monroe Tavern that we didnt get to see. Words cannot express how much we enjoyed it! The guides and staff were incredible. There wasnt a crowd and the weather was spot-on. For those on a tight schedule, I would definitely recommend allotting a full-day to exploring Lexington. Its truly a life-changing experience.
There is something to be said about people who stand up to defend their homes and rights against overwhelming odds.
Very nice historic place
Beautiful shades in the trees, lovely
Was ok. Would have been nice to see some enactment or short film.
A wonderful historic site
Its where we got started. Whats not to like!
Great place to visit. Beginning of the American fight for Independence. Monuments and park space that put you back to 1776
Beautiful city with such a profound historical impact.
Best grass of any public park in the Boston area.
Some plaques and monuments about the start of the revolutionary war. Not much else to say, except that the Minuteman trial (a great bikepath) runs adjacent to this if you want to stop by on your way through. Pretty uneventful, but it is in a pretty nice park.
Really pretty, peaceful green space. An amazing history and some cool memorials. Definitely a necessity to check out, there isnt actually much information as to the history on it there. But there are several museums around about various aspects of the history of Lexington and Concord.
This location is really nice where you can bring your family, friends and dog(s) but sometimes the place was too crowd.
Birthplace of American Freedom...a must see.
Being from the West coast, I do not often have the roots of our country so clearly displayed. It was a far more emotional experience than I expected, especially in this time when we once again seem to be at a crossroads of defining ourselves as United States citizens.
Beautiful site and so historical. Well worth the visit. Would strongly suggest taking the Trolley Tour from Concord. Authentically dressed tour guide from the Revolutionary period who gives an excellent, and sometimes humorous, report on the actual events of the beginning of the Revolutionary War. Learn actual facts never revealed in History books.
I am an American combat Veteran from the US Army Cavalry unit 1-1 CAV, Blackhawk Saqardron. I noticed the Grave Markers around the monument were not taken care of, please clean there Graves and repost their markers.. Thank you John Murphy
Well maintained grounds, plenty of benches and a comfortably shaded area for walking.
I love to travel for the history. Boston has plenty of it.
A very historical place and well worth the visit. Guided tour of this small park are the best. Youll learn about the shot heard round the world. Some of the houses adjacent to the park hold history and stories which are fascinating.
Great piece of history I throughly enjoyed this part of the tour.
So much history, so little time to appreciate. Where has our patriotic attitude gone.
Great place to visit. Lots of history here. Wonderful helpful people. Would go again.
Amazing to stand where it all started!
Great place. Full of history about our nations birth. Highly recommended a visit.
Beautiful grounds. The amazing history here should leave everyone with a new found pride and thanks. Great place to visit.
Great visit, bringing my new home to tour my old home.
The shot heard round the world was fired from this location on April 19, 1775 to begin the American Revolutionary War. Just a small park in a small town in Massachusetts, but the site of an indelible moment in history. This well kept triangular field is a nice large open space but somehow feels so small to be the site of the first skirmish with the British so long ago. This location is family friendly and well lit even at night.
The Boston/Massachusetts area is covered with historical sites important to the birth of our country. Lexington and Concord are where the Minute Men began the the fight.
Very well maintained grassy area with monument and a few plaques. This is across the street from a cemetery whee my multiple great grandparents are buried.
Free street parking. An inspiring, historic location. The first U.S. war memorial.
Love it historical
Forgot all about this place. History classes started coming back to me as the free in character tour guide went though all the details of this historic place.
Great place to think about and remember those who sacrificed to form a great country.
The reason why we have a 2nd Amendment
History to be preserved. Dont let it get lost.
Great Green, well maintained, surrounded by some buildings dating to the April 19, 1775 opening volley of the Revolutionary War.
Where it all began. nice place to stroll back in time
Its hard to believe how little we know or remember, of the birth of our nation! This experience through here was remarkable!
This is all about history. The day I visited was during a blustery snow squall. Parking is ok on a day like that but much more difficult during the tourist season. There are bike paths available . Many restaurant choices as well. Shopping g is more of the boutique style.
Nice grass
We had an amazing volunteer who gave an excellent explanation for the Lexington Commons.
A nice place for history buffs to visit.
Beautiful place, democratic government comes with a price
The battle green is a very nice open park. Perfect for a picnic with the family.
Great walk thru history. I always enjoy the walk and the area so well preserved . Since the days of Paul Reveres ride.
I was just walking around. It was shaded and plenty of places to sit.
Such a group of brave patriots we had!
The new visitors center will be appreciated once completed.
Close to my hometown of Concord historic and quiet.
Beautifully maintained and lovely area
Lovely place to spend your evening.
The battle green is beautifully upkept.
What a sacred experience to walk in the square where our fight for independence began!
Excellent staff. Very accurate. Memorable
Birthplace of America, what more can I say? Good spot to relax and enjoy the history. Also a good place to toss a disc around or bring your dog(s) to run around.
Absolutely, incredible to walk on this hallowed ground. The Lexington green is the site upon which the first shots of the Revolution War were exchanged on April 19, 1775 as the British regulars advanced on Concord to destroy rebel munitions. The walk around the park is short with plaques denoting points of interest including the site of the town belfry used to alert the militiamen of the advance as well as a burial ground for remains of some of the 8 Americans who died that morning. Tour the Buckmans Tavern and try to catch their exhibit #alarmed metaphorically linking the communications our founding fathers (and mothers) used to spread the word of the bloody massacre and the social platforms we use today.
Not exciting but it’s cool I guess
This is a lovely green with a few monuments memorializing the Battle of Lexington where the minutemen of the area stood against the greatest empire of the world in their resolve to live as free men.
Very cool, very reverent place. Not a lot to see, but knowing and learning about what happened there was very cool. And the people in the gift shops are friendly and kind. We had an awesome discussion about the history of the place with them. If you come here make sure you see the Old Belfry replica up the hill!
Volunteered for 3rd class here and learned so much! It was a wonderful afternoon spent
Concord has a better display
A bit been busy but nice
Alcott Apple Orchard must see. Grayline one-day Cambridge, Kexington, Concord, Boston, tour guide Ron.
Interesting insight and memorial to these times.
Its history buddy. Good to know where we came from. I just wonder how it felt to be fighting here.
Loved it. I was able to stand in the same place where the Minuteman stood ready to defend their country, their families and their rights. The park staff was delightful and generously full of history to share.Well done!I will be back
Was annoyed there were no indications on the green where the action happened. Would have bee helpful of there was a sign- Patriots formed here. Or a map of the area and what happened out on the green so if the building is closed you could still get a feel for what happened
Historically incredible
Nice place to walk around with the family
A historical site for tourists and a great spot for families in Lexington
Be interesting place to visit.
Amazing spot to hike, bike or take your family. Relaxing, beautiful and historical.
Very well done and promotes learning about our countries roots
Beautiful park
Beautiful, peaceful, solemn. The people who work there are knowledgeable and helpful.
