By far one of the best wineries in Northern Virginia. Their wines are outstanding, their summer concert series is a great place to hang out on a Saturday evening and enjoy a few glasses of wine with friends. Members benefits are the best of the 8 wineries we belong to 1. Free passes to the concerts 2. Free tasting every visit. 3 private sit down tasting if desired. 4. Memembers only tastings of wines from the library. 5. The staff is thee absolute best, they treat everyone with genuine appreciation that you stopped by for a visit, and they seem to remember each and every member by name. Stop by do a tasting ask Erin and her staff about their membership package.
3 miles off the main road, tucked into a lovely lost corner. 6 or 9 tasting options with a beautiful range of white and red, all regionally grown! If you prefer dry wines to sweet, make this a stop!
Such a great experience here! Erin and Bryan made the experience possible and Jonathan completed it for me! The wines are good the atmosphere is perfect. Definitely come here if you’re in the area!!!
We only come here during the summer concert series. Best to order tickets online and come early to get a decent spot. You are allowed to bring food but no outside alcohol. Wine is pretty good in comparison to other VA wineries and the staff and service is really friendly.
Not sure how the wine is, but there is no friendly service here. After standing at the tasting bar and not being acknowledged for a while, I happily went to another establishment.
There is something special about Tarara Winery that separates them from the rest. As you enter property the tree lined driveway takes you on a drive that during the Spring, Summer and Fall just makes you feel that you are far out and away from the chaos and stress of your everyday life and you immediately begin to unwind. Once you step foot onto the large deck that overlooks the field leading to the Potomac River you realize just how peaceful this place really is. When we enter the tasting room we are always greeted by the friendly staff who are enthusiastic and ready for you to really experience a fun and informative wine tasting. Tarara offers two choices for tastings and both are equally enjoyable. They offer a good selection of whites and reds and even have additional labels to the Tarara brand that are amazingly good, one of which includes grapes from Washington state! (One of my personal favorites) And let me not forget to mention if you are one who really likes a well made smooth Port then you must try Whites D9. During the Summer months they hold weekly concerts by lake along with special events throughout the year including tributes to our first responders, police, firefighters and Veterans. And during the holidays if you are looking for that special gift they make spectacular gift baskets that can even be personalized! The membership here is one best values in Northern Virginia.
Usually this place is wonderful. Today we arrived and were swiftly placed at a tasting stand. After we got to the bar we were ignored for 25 minutes. No one started the tasting. No one told us when it might even begin. No one noticed when we just walked out. Very unusual. This was one if our favorite places. Maybe it was an off day.
Staff was very rude and did not take proper care of guests. Dont ever spend your money here. You are better off going elsewhere if you want acceptable service.
I like the venue for the music festivals, what I dont like about it is there is an unreasonable mark-up on wine purchased in the venue. $15.00 wine at the winery (just outside of the venue) is $25.00 at the wine station in the venue. The people that sell the wine are volunteers, so why is there a $10.00 difference.I have been to a lot of wine festivals and the wine prices are always the same in the concert festivals or not. After you pay $34.70 for 2 on-line which is cheaper than at the gate you should not be over-priced for the wine.
Loved this winery the first time we went. Second time joined their wine club! Great Staff, beautiful view, and delicious wine
Great wines, beautiful location to sit out and have a glass or bottle. Groups are welcome. Staff is friendly and will remember you if you are a repeat customer. As with anywhere, tastings can get slow if many customers are there.
Do yourselves a favor and experience Tarara. Great wines, fun concerts, nice views, cool people, awesome staff - Danielle & April - wooot! A member of umpteen years here.
Fantastic staff, great venue, the concerts are an unbelievable and affordable experience. The wines are great. Ive joined many wine clubs, but this is the best deal by fair. Wines are already very affordable, but joining is worth it! Been a member there about 3 years.
I stopped with my husband and two young children. The blond woman working cheerfully greeted the couple who walked in before us. She did not even look at or acknowledge my husband or me while we stood and waited for 10 minutes. She talked to everyone else at the bar about how she used to be a bartender in NYC. I would not recommend this place and dont waste your time or the long drive off 15 for D+ wine and failing service.
We visited Tarara numerous times before deciding to join as Vine Club members. Our reasons for joining included: 1) wonderful scenery and unique landscape, 2) excellent atmosphere, vibe, and staff (shoutout to Mike and Danielle!), and 3) their wines match what we enjoy. That said, you absolutely dont need to be a member to enjoy their wines. Waltz up to the counter and let the staff work with you to recommend a tasting; or if its a summer Friday, check out the concert series with a bottle
Beautiful location with delicious wine. We had an excellent experience with very knowledgeable staff. Will definitely be going back in the spring.
Went today around lunch, no indication of an entrance or if they were open. Called and no answer, but heard people in side. Boards from construction all over with some missing on the walk. Need to clean up out side and make some signs on we’re to go. Never figured how to get in and we left....
A great selection of wines and a wonderful place to catch a concert on a Saturday night in the Summer!
Call before you bother driving there. They change their hours for different seasons and dont bother posting the new hours on their website.
It was the best winery I have been to which is about 30. Their knowlegde and mastery shines through with each subsequent sip. I only come to this area twice a year so I decided to take 12 bottles home and the staff was nice enough to carry it to my car for me, I tired to give them a tip but they politely refused. 10 stars!!!!
Tarara has quickly become one of my favorite wineries in the area. I had missed it the first time I visited the local wine loop in that area because it was a little bit further away. Oh how I wish my friends and I had gone that day! The grounds of the winery are gorgeous as is the view from the front. All of the staff here are knowledgeable about wines and are super friendly. They even remember you when you stop in!I lean towards red wines these days and can definitely say that Clements Resistance was a standout from the tasting this past weekend. Im also looking forward to the return of their port wine (Whities D9) in the fall!
This winery has a lot of entertaining elements other than the wine. The grounds are large and have nearby hiking trails (bring bug spray). There are also summer concerts that keep the winery open to 9/10pm. Ask for their calendar. As for the wine, Id go for their whites, like the Cherval.
Great selection with some unique tastes. The property is very nice. Well worth the trip.
Great wines. Complex and quite a surprise for a guy accustomed to the bold and strong wines of California. Worth several visits.
Went to this winery last weekend and loved the wines. I highly recommend the tasting (Merlot is something special). Then buy a bottle and some cheese and sit on their deck and enjoy the view. Be aware this winery is a bit pricey though (10.50 per person for tasting and wines between $22-$50/bottle). They do offer a wine club which is very reasonable for people in the area along with concerts from time to time. My only real complaint was that some aspects of the winery were very commercial such as no crackers to cleanse pallet between wine (you can buy them in there shop at 2x store price) and an assembly line approach to wine tasting.Wines - 5 starsCustomer Service 3 starsOther - 4.5 stars
Beautiful property and setting. Rude and incompetent employees, esp the manager. No prices on food, youre expected to know their menu. Tasting took over an hour and they werent super busy. No cheese platters or food allowed while tasting wine. Upstairs is only for wine club members. Snooty and uninviting. We will not be back.
Very good wines and the summer concerts are awesome. Large scenic property and cool deck area. Nice, knowledgeable staff.
We showed up on a Tuesday because the website said they were open. Three other families walked up at the same time as us to discover they were closed. We all drove a significant distance to be here. Very disappointing.
A beautiful winery in Leesburg that is only about an hours drive from downtown DC. Our wine tasting ($10) was led by two friendly and attentive staff members who were clearly very passionate about their jobs. The winery is on the top of a hill that is right next to a beautiful little lake. We enjoyed our wine and some cheese and crackers out in a wooded picnic area near the visitor center. Tarara is definitely worth a visit!
Good wine and people is friendly most of the times. However, when we were there a regular customer stopped by and the guy running the tasting started talking to him and he stopped helping us for a while. That shouldnt happen. I really liked their Boneyard White 2011.
Customer Service was poor. Wine was very good.
Excellent local winery in Leesburg! Outside of the excellent wine, they also hold great summer concerts & other seasonal events! A must visit if youre in the Leesburg area.
Great location and good tasting wines. Been a wine club member for 7 years.
The staff of Tarara Winery provided us first-class customer service during a recent visit to their establishment. We were there as part of a tour of Loudoun County wineries, and Tarara was the stop at which lunch was served. There was a mixup regarding the food order I placed when I signed up for the tour (I am a vegetarian), and they didnt have the option I selected. Instead of giving me a version of what I ordered with the meat picked out, they offered me a delicious cheese plate. That alone would have been more than enough food for me, but the staff felt bad enough about the confusion that they also prepared me a tasty cheese sandwich. The upside of that was that I was able to pass the cheese plate around to the rest of our group, and everyone got to enjoy a nice extra snack with the wine.It was a small gesture on the part of Tarara Winerys staff, but it made me feel like they valued my presence there and wanted me to have as good an experience as possible. Thank you again to them for such great customer service!
I was there for the Kelly Bell band concert. back in 2013 or so.. best time of my fricking life..give this place a sec chance.. bring back kelly bell and have a great time every one...
Stopped by with my husband on labor day weekend. You would think they would have extra staff of hand to serve the additional crowd but there were 3 servers for the entire tasting room of about 75 people. It was dark, hot and we were not even acknowledged even after 15 minutes. The wines are pricey (cheapest bottle at $25 but most were at the $30-40 mark). I dont mind paying a little more for a good wine but I cant pay for what I didnt get to taste. Awful customer service. We walked out.
Best Winery in Northern Virginia. Boneyard Cabernet Sauvignon is amazing.
Perhaps the best wine in N. Virginia!
Rude man at front desk for first visit impression. Over priced tasting. No crackers. But wud love to return in summer for the view only
Really great wine, we were group of 9 and everybody loved the place...
Great wine and great service, plus great concerts during the summer
What a beautiful location, tremendous staff and wonderful wine. If you are in the Leesburg area of VA, Tarara is a must.
Not bad.
Wines are dry
