This place is amazing at any time of the year. It has some paranormal activity for sure so the authenticiy as a Haunted Attraction is off the charts. For 2020 Haunt Season its only virtual experiences. This is a must experience Attraction for any Halloween fan. So much to discover and experience at this place. All profits go to the ARC foundation as well.
If you want a haunted house that’s worth your money, THIS IS THE PLACE! The only time I didn’t scream or jump was walking out to go home. It is 100% well put together, my only concern would be waiting in line (so if you can purchase the RIP pass it’s worth it!) I’m easily scared and was very nervous going in but I do not regret it at all, the staff was very friendly and the actors did a great job at getting a good shake out of me. My boyfriend’s goal was to get a good scare out of me, and Shocktober Fest made sure to do just that ️
This place is really scary and lots of fun! There are a lot of good jump scares that startle you. The only problem I have with this place is that the line to get into the haunted house is kind of long, and it’s a long wait to get in. It definitely worth the wait, but the wait is long, so just a heads up on that. I would recommend paying the extra $10 for the fast pass. It’s lots of fun and if you have never been, I highly recommend it! Happy Halloween!
I purchased the virtual Shocktober experience for Halloween this year, but the site was not allowing me to login so I as not able to view the experience. I called Shockotober & even emailed Vidi Space multiple times to request a refund, but have not heard a response. At this point, I would just like to be reimbursed for a service I was not even able to use.
I booked tickets several days in advance of the October 24th All-Virtual Shocktober with VIDI SPACE as their partner. Ive never had a problem with Zoom or other similar live-stream events but there can be a first-time and this one was it!I certainly had the nightmare experience though - LOL - as I kept signing in (via email address) and waiting for the emailed link to reset my password which never materialised. I went through this several times and gave up! Have never had a VIDI account (thus no PW) and dont care to, especially after this episode. I contacted VIDI online and received an email from them assuring me help would be forthcoming - it never came.So ok, not the worst thing to miss out on this but I cant understand why: (1) I was sent a sign-in code but there was no place on the site to use it;(2) No immediate help except for an auto-email;(3) Links of the event were emailed to me (for future viewing) and THEY ALSO DONT WORK!So Id just like a reimbursement and would like to forget the whole thing for now.
I went there 3 times since they opened and I feel like they lose actors everyday where to they go? It would probably be better if more actor but maybe not
First time coming to this event and if you are ready to have a great time this is the place to go for haunted houses. Very well put together and all the proceeds go to ARC. Fast passes are available to beat the long lines which I recommend purchasing. They have adult beverages on site along with plenty of food trucks. The Haunted house was crazy and really well thought out and will scare even the hardest of individuals. Great time will be back again
Very well kept. Some of their profits go to a good cause - which is always nice. Liked the basement part more than upstairs. Employees work really hard to make it fun for everyone.
This was terrific. Not only a great haunted house, but also characters circulating in the lines and at the food, beer, and ice cream vendors outside. I think we have a new holiday tradition!
I love it here. Did a good job with the place can be scary. Food and drinks available.
Really put a ton of effort into the haunted house I was impressed. It really shows. This is the first time visiting but it was pretty awesome! Proceeds go to a great cause and that makes it even better!
I was there for My Bloody Valentine and it was hysterical! They really go all out starting with a the bus ride to the house, and the waiver signing, to the sick costumes and gory antics! The actors stayed in character throughout my visit even though I was a character to be had! Confusing at first-had to figure out the bus pickup situation. Wasnt aware of the process - prepare to walk a bit and maybe get your shoes dirty like I did in my new suede but that was my invitee leaving me in the dark- lolAnyway we got in and it was spooktacular fun!
Good level of scary, be ready to run!! The staff and actors are super cool :)
Great scares, the manor is really cool, the effects and sounds are done super well. I can say the only downfall is they dont touch you.
So much fun and definitely worth it. I got scared plenty of times and still left laughing with my friend. I would definitely go back.
Wow! they so SUCH a great job here. All of the actors are volunteers. Even the makeup artists. And they do a fantastic job. The only criticism I have is that they should run the line through SOMETHING for you to do. You can wait for 2 hours in line and although the end result is worth it. They really need to have the vendors lined up along the line so you can hop out, grab a bite to eat, play a game, etc. and get back in line with your group. They do have roaming actors that come along the line, but not quite enough to entertain on such a long wait. They are one of the best haunted houses on the east coast, so they are only going to get more popular. Oh, and dont forget, they have a Valentines Day haunted house as well.
We scare because we care and great people great house
One of the best haunts Ive been too. Plus its all for a great cause.
This was amazing!! It was really scary and really fun
Best haunted house in America. Benefits a cause and all volunteer run. I went in 6th and 7th grade. So scary and fun!
Pretty decent event. I think they rely too heavily on character jump scares instead of straight up creepy/scary things. A little too dark overall. A lot of details were left unseen and would add to the creepiness if you lit it a bit better. Great location for the event; especially the basement!
Great experience. Pay the extra $10 for the fast pass or you will wait for ever!
Great experience, but the lines were way too long. You have to purchase a Fast Pass, especially for any weekend close to Halloween. Once in the haunted manor, the quality of the show is very good. Makeup and outfits make it really seem like they are the living dead! My one suggestion would be to let in smaller groups that are spaced out more so that when you’re inside, it really is scary and creepy. When you’re surrounded by people, it’s hard to be truly scared!
We love this haunted house....this is our 2nd year attending and will for sure go back again and again.
Great tour. Mike was great...
Such a fun Halloween experience. This is my second year attending!
Excellent experience even though it was raining and cold! The line was a bit long, we arrived at 7 and we were inside by 7:45. So if you want to get it I recommend getting the fast pass. We saw people with fast pass come in as they please, which is good if you want to pay for it. The actors inside were outstanding. Every single person took the role very seriously and didn’t break character. It was SCARY! They have a lot of different paths inside. Going upstairs, going through obstacles and dark dark rooms. The good thing is no one will touch you. They will get close to you, but will not touch you. So no worries there for people who don’t like to be touched. If you want to be scared and not pay so much this place is great! They have food and drinks before you enter. Enjoy!
Great event but not for those that tend to chicken out. My 10 and 12 year olds loved it. A bit less scary if you are in the back of the group. If you can handle the upstairs then the basement should be no problem at all. It does get real busy so either arrive 15-30 minutes before opening or be prepared to wait in a long line.
This event was great!! We went on a Sunday at 7pm and went early and avoided long lines. Parking was a situation with overflow and shuttles but it was efficient and well done. Most importantly the haunted house was amazingly done. Great props, house, acting etc. Definitely recommend!!
The following is my personal opinion:Getting there.. still getting there ...almost there:Why are you wasting peoples’ time?!?!If you get there after 8 pm, then forget about getting inside the haunted house. There is a lot of wait time for parking as well as getting in the line to purchase tickets and then standing in the actual line for getting inside the haunted house!! Ridiculous!!! There are 100s of customers but only 3-4 people at the cashiers desk!!! Are you guys really haunted!I believe even if you purchase your tickets online you still have to wait in the same line to get your wrist bands!! Such a terrible idea!Haunted house experience:They send you in a group of ~6-8 people. However the crew sends people inside the haunted house at such a fast pace that the actors inside do not get enough time to get back to their original position and attempt to scare you at their full potential. This screws the entire “scary” experience, at least this happened to us.Overall, including the wait times (parking line + ticket line + actual haunted house wait line) and the actual haunted house experience, I would say they can do a much better job!Is it worth $40/person?IMO No. Instead enjoy a scary movie on your TV at home or movie theatre or a walk in a park! So much better.
Great venue! Amazing job well done!
Shocktober more like shock over!j am I right folks. Food was great service was excellent, but the shambiance could use some work. Jill stien was there too, pretty spooky amI right folks.she had lots of escary one ower there but not enough. Sorry. But back to business (class); very scary. Their was a LOT of fun i am right folfks! Maybe we could hang out sometime? . Angeolos pizza-6 star if I could
Actors are amazing and all the money goes to the Author School. So it totally worth the ticket price.
Cattle Trough Experience! Which calls for Cash Grab but fun experience Groupon has better price than Shocktober Website.
Extremely good haunted mansion. The rooms are very elaborate and lots of good actors. Highly recommend. We did the mansion and the well of souls and it was excellent. Good to but tickets online with code GHOULS and save $5 per ticket. Good local beers and proceeds go to a great cause supporting education and vocation for those with disabilities. Best weve been to in NOVA so far.
Great for young and old! The characters were a good combination of fun and shocking. The haunted house was dark, the visual effects were stunning, and the sounds were loud and startling, at times. The overall effect was quite spooky, but not terrifying. A good time was had by all.Getting into the parking lot took longer than expected, and the lines to get in the attraction were very long.
Took sister this year for her first ever haunted house...it was amazing! We are pretty sure she will not sleep for at least a month. Thanks to all the actors who helped keep her screaming, crouching, clawing, and punching her way through the attraction!
Very fun some realistic exhibits
Amazing haunted house. Worth it!
A well put together experience a lot of fun for all ages
Not only did we have a lot of fun, but I lost my phone and it was almost immediately returned to me. Thank yoooou!
Always a great event! Have been many times, and will keep coming back.
Overall a fun experience, if you can only do on of the two haunts, I would recommend doing the upstairs one instead of the basement. Lines can get a little long so be prepared to wait for at least half and hour. There are food trucks there as well as beer to keep the over 21 crowd happy. If you live near the area I say its worth stopping in the check out.
The house was well made, but everything else was terrible. They were severely short staffed. We had to wait 30+ min to get our wristbands, and then 2 HOURS in line to get to the haunted house. We got past check-in at 9, but didnt get to enter the house until past 11. Its DEFINITELY NOT worth $40. If they would have told us thats how long the wait was we would have gladly left. And dont get me started on the hot chocolate, which took almost an hour to get. And when I got there, the man was using regular instant-mix, but kept telling people itd be 20-30 minutes AFTER they waited in a huge line. There were people that had been waiting in line for the hot chocolate that were dragged away last second because it was their turn to go into the house. The guy inside the truck was very nice, but he could not handle the volume, which in my opinion was not that bad, especially because everyone was getting the same thing.
Chili cook off, fun for all
Pretty good haunted house. We werent super scared but we had fun.
This place is fantastic!!!! The actors go all out, from keeping you entertained in line to scaring you in the house! The haunted house itself was utterly amazing in the methods used to disorient you and then scare you! I dont want to give away any spoilers so I have kept it vague, but I definitely look forward to going again!!
Had a blast at Shocktober. The weather was great even though we had to shuttle in due to excess rain creating a mud bog on premises. Line was long but thats to be expected. I think the group that goes through are a little too large and not as intimate as smaller groups.Purchase included the house and the basement as part of the fun. There was onsite tents with food and alcohol available to purchase. The scares themselves were not that scary. Walking through the house and basement had its parts but for the most part, for someone like me who startles easy, I managed to make it through with only a single shriek which would normally not be the case. Worth at least one visit to determine if its your thing or not.
If youre looking for a good scare, this is the place to come! The actors and all the volunteers at the Paxton Manor do a WONDERFUL job at making the house a scary, but fun experience. The house was SO creatively and professionally done, and the actors did their job in truly frightening us! :) We were visiting from Orlando, and have been to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios many times, and we would say that Shocktober compares very closely to it, they may have some competition! :) Everyone on the property was very kind and welcoming, and we loved that all the money made from the event goes to a wonderful cause. If youre looking for something fun and exciting to do to get you in the halloween spirit, you need to experience this for yourself!
Great times here - an annual must do! Lines can be extremely long however so plan on spending an hour+ in line or come a bit earlier in the evening.
I didnt find it scary at all but others did. See for yourself! Good actors though.
Always a fun experience, but VERY crowded this year! Be sure to plan ahead a few hours if going. They need a chance to get used to the bigger crowds.
This was so scary! On every corner of this house was a shocking surprise! If you love haunted houses you cant miss this! The actors were so scary and a lot of fun! Plus its for a great cause to help children with disabilities!
Well worth the 2+ hours wait. Very scary and fun!
Awesome experience but super-pricey.
Nice place to visit
One of, if not the best haunted attraction in the MD, VA, PA area! With all proceeds going to charity, including the variety of food and beverage options, it was a no brainier to partake and easy on the wallet too! (wine and beer from a local vineyard and brewery) Had a ton of fun and we will be coming back every year!
Great place for a good Halloween scare. Lines get long so get there early. It is a great time.
Fantastic haunted house!
An overall thrilling experience, super fun, all the actors were so good. This is a must do.
Really amazing haunted house and supports an awesome cause.
This was the best haunted house I have been to in a while!! Lots of sensational scares with great actors and jump scares as well. It is an awesome experience!
The people were nice and the effects are great.
They do a great job changing it up every year so it’s not the same old thing. Good atmosphere and a fun time.
So much fun best scary house EVER!
A pretty great attraction. Long lines but the entire process is extremely organized and well-executed, right down to overflow parking.
Decent amount of rooms to walk through, but not scary. Few actors here and there with the occasional random loud noises to get your attention. Nice people working.
After paying $80 (full price) for 2 people on their website, making reservations for a date and time, showing up for our reservation time, ONLY to discover that parking was ridiculous, the line to get in was at least several hundred people long - with only 3 people at a desk checking people in - and that many people in line had purchased a Groupon with zero restriction on date or time, we walked away, thus flushing $80 down the toilet. It was 10pm when we left and we had barely moved in the line. We had a 9pm reservation. Im asking for my money back. INSANE to put this on Groupon with no restrictions, and have no separate line for people who purchased and reserved at full price directly from the website. Complete cluster***. Didnt provide much confidence in creating a decent haunt, if they couldnt figure out in the first place that the Groupon would be a disaster they were clearly not prepared for handling.
Awesome! It was so much fun, looking forward to next year!
Worth the wait.
Lots of fun, but need some crowd control.
The most amazing haunted house out there! You must go!
Get there early. Worth the hype and $$
Spooky fun time
Went 2-3 years ago with the kids and had a great time. As I recall, we parked, purchased tickets, waited on line, and went through the house in 60-90 mins. Sorry I dont remember the day of the week or time, but it was probably a Sunday. So, this rating is an average of the two visits. This year, we invited friends, purchased tickets in advance (one family used groupon, the other purchased direct), and walked the half mile from home to the location on a Saturday night. Our experience this time was completely different. After 30 mins in line to trade our waivers and tickets for wristbands (groupon had its own line, but actually took longer than the other line), the real waiting started. The adults ended up forfeiting the cost of our tickets and went home, leaving the kids to stand in line for 2 hours before getting into the mansion. Their report to us is that they felt rushed through in just 15 mins and that one part of the house was actually closed (I dont know if this latter point is true). I realize this event uses volunteers and raises money for a good cause, but sense says an organization still needs to provide an experience that people will want to return for, and tell other about. A couple of things I would recommend to the organizers: 1) limit the number of tickets sold for each time slot. maybe extend hours a bit to make up for the lost revenue; it is mostly dark by 6pm. 2) if you use groupon, require these buyers to sign up for a specific time, or at least window, just like others 3) have a some staff, maybe with a bullhorn, telling people where to go and which line is for what purpose. 3) take a page from Cavellas Forest and give people numbers, then call them in groups to stand in a (much shorter) line before they enter the house. Add more vendors and put more tables out in your field for groups to sit and relax while they wait. We would have happily waited an hour or two under these conditions. We will give them another chance next year, but plan to carefully choose our day and time.
This is actually a haunted house!! Plenty of scary costumes and its soooo life like. Very festive
Long lines smh
Bought tickets on line and still had to wait over an hour to get a arm bands. Then had to get in this huge line to get into the house. Never made into the house itself because after almost 2 hours of standing in line with probably 2 more hours of waiting to get in, the freezing cold rain arrived. We bailed. Wait a waste of time and money! This was obviously over sold and not well run. :(
Besides going on the worst night of the season due to heavy rain and piercing cold wind, this Haunted House was definetly worth the hour long trip to get to and fighting the weather. There was no line when my husband and I got there (we went on October 29, which was the last Sunday night of the Shocktober haunt season and arrived close to closing time) so we were able to walk right on up to the house and go in. I dont scare easily but this house had me shook. There is a scare around every corner. The actors do a great job and the house is very terrifying. In the basement, you have the Carnival of Souls, which is bunch of spooky looking clowns. This House is not for the faint of the heart, as they do make you sign a waiver before entering.I highly recommend it.
The best haunted house!
Fantastic place for a PARANORMAL investigation
Fun for the family
Dont know
My gf loves white wheat beers so we both enough our quality beers here for really good prices.
Super scary. Got into an shouting match when one of the haunted house guys touched me.
Awesome! Paxton Manor was excellent!
It was amazing highly recommended
Parking sucks. Make sure you have an hour or more to waste -- you will be waiting in line to park.
Great customs, great atmosphere very nice haunted house
