Quite a fun place with a nice bunch of trails. The trail to the bridge starts out really nice but gets a little tricky if you want to get down to the water. The views are pretty nice though. If you take the right path towards the river, theres a chance to see a lot of waterfowl, i saw cranes and cormorants. Parking lot is small and the entrance is in the middle of a subdivision.
A very nice park. The entrance and the boat launch area is well maintained. The remainder of the park is as wild as wilderness is willing to show itself. There are quite the spiderwebs and mosquitoes. The rest is just a nice walk to enjoy. The park is quiet most of the time. Whitetail deer is often encountered.
Nice to have a public access to this treasured site along Goose Creek. Unfortunately its very limited parking. Not only is the mid 1800s Goose Creek Canal with its locks very interesting, but the former bridge crossing here with only the remains of the stones bridge abutment on both side of the river. The simple road used to connect present-day Rt 7, cross Goose Creek, and connect at Edwards Ferry Rd.
Nice trail, good drop in point. Slight rapids... getting down stream with a paddle board can be challenging, but Goose Creek is lovely after wards!
I love fishing here There are big bass blowups on topwater lures.
Such a local gem for fishing and swimming! The family enjoyed being able to cool off while the pools are closed and everyone was courteous about maintaining safe distances from others. There are several places for launching your kayaks as well! The water is very clean and refreshing in these days of summer. I recommend water shoes since the bottom can be rocky or soft mud depending on where you set up to swim. Mosquitos and water bugs come out as disk approaches.
Secluded gem! Tucked away in the neighborhood makes it easy to drive right past the entrance. The parking lot is very small, only 5-6 spots. It’s usually not very busy and offers a port a potty next to the entrance. The area is quiet and the trails are great with one portion being sandwiched between Goose Creek and an old/empty canal which went to Aldie at one point in time. There are a lot of deer which like to hang out right off of the trail. The trails are well maintained. If you walk south you’ll be treated to the sound of running water when Goose Creek is high after rain storms when the water is moving very quickly. There is great place to launch kayaks on a flat beach like area. Or if you’re kayaking up Goose Creek this is the perfect place to stop for a rest or to use the bathroom. Very scenic and just a short distance from where Goose Creek converges with the Potomac River. Even though this area is surrounded by houses it’s still very picturesque and full of nature. You could do some great bird watching here as we saw everything from several different types of large cranes to blue birds and cardinals.
Beautiful park with a lots of history. I hike around the creek and see people kayaking and the water is not too fast or deep an it flows into the PotomacRiver. There is an old historic canal system worth exploring
Very nice area for family. Love the surroundings and Parks.
Kephart Bridge Landing is beautiful, but only half the history of the place is posted. The site was also where Bazil Newman helped enslaved people escape to freedom in Pennsylvania. That story should also be recognized at this historic site.
Very nice trail along Goose Creek to the Potomac River. Trail continues on to Bles Park to the east. Lots of trees for shade. Gorgeous view across the Potomac. Dont miss the canal lock from the 1850s that was built for the never-completed canal to Aldie Mill.
Beautiful place, and nice walking trail and good time pass with kids
The north west path direction is less traveled!
It is usually not too crowded. The negative is that is very rocky for a little kids
Great place to absorb a little local history and see the remnants of an old canal system, take a walk, or launch your hand carry boat on lower Goose Creek with access to the Potomac (or carry a bit further upstream and up the falls, and fish).
Good entry to Goose Creek for hiking, kayaking
Nice and quiet
Do it yourself water park with good canoeing too
Nestled away in the uppermost portion of Virginia this wonderful trail offers some beautiful scenery. Although the lot is small, the parking facility is nice and generally trash free. Lets keep it that way. I wouldnt try and visit during assumed peak usage. Unless you are willing to wait. Itll be worth it if you do. Trail leads straight to the creek and breaks left and right. Go and explore.
A little overcrowded, but nice river access and hiking trails.
Peaceful, quiet and if you walk about 20 mins North East youll find an awesome fishing spot of catfish, bass and rockfish. You wont regret
Took my pup there so she could play in the water and she had a great time! We played right around a bend so she could play where the current was much slower and I made sure not to let her go out too far, but the faster currents may have just been due to all the rain recently as the people who recommended it said nothing about the fast currents. Its a bit buggy down there so make sure you have some sort of repellent!
Nice, convenient place to access Goose Creek and see the old bridge stones.
Luckily I live 1.6 miles away from here! I love to hike, fish, explore the beautiful wilderness. Once found a owl in the trees as well as deer everywhere
This trail is good but parking lot is small.
Nice flat trail along Goose Creek down to the Potomac River. We often spot wildlife as well!
Wonderful creek to float down in a kayak with some fun little rapids if you start from Keep Loudoun Beautiful Park!
Perfect put-in for take-out at Algonkian.
Easy, hidden access to good Creek. Nice fly fishing spot. We pull the tubes out here after the rapids. We floated down from Keep Loudoun Beautiful Park.
This trail is great, truly a hidden gem.
We love this park. Yes, it is insanely buggy (ticks and mosquitos). Yes, it is almost always muddy. But it is some of the best nature in Leesburg. The trail follows the Goose Creek and a former canal. There is a nice kayak launch area perfect for skipping rocks.
Nice park, decent amount of parking and usually not crowded. Fishing is decent, usually pull in some smallies or crappie. The eel run is fun and there are usually local restaurants there looking to buy what ever you catch
Nice places
I dont even know where this is. I have never been there.
If youre boating with canoebor kayak, the put in is muddy there with lots of mosquitos and poison ivy but there is a nice parking lot with about 10 spaces. Tip - bring some water in a jug to get the excess mud off at the end of your excursion. Its in a neighborhood and the turn off Riverpoint Rd is easy to miss so be on the lookout. If you are taking out from a whitewater trip down Goose Creek the takeout is below the last old canal lock down stream from Riverside Parkway bridge. Also a nice spot to begin a hike or mountain bike ride along Goose Creek.
Too much rain this year, so water was covering the trail. Cant wait to get back out there to do some fishing.
Easy to miss in an unusual location right in the middle of a subdivision but convenient location to take kayaks out of Goose Creek just before it empties into the Patomac River. There is a solid rapid right before the take out place so keep right.
Is nice place to fishing
Great trails for running.
Beautiful and nice stroll
Nice quiet hiking spot! Nice view along river, easily seen green trail markers.
Great trail, pretty views.
Neat little bridge.
Its a small Creek so dont expect much. Theres no dock or paved trail. The bank is pretty steep and muddy, what the fish bite with regularity.
Beautiful
The actual park is just a parking lot in back of two houses in a residential neighborhood. But it does afford access to Goose Creek for hiking and, as in our case, kayaking. There is a porta-potty in the parking lot. The lot has spaces for 12 cars, which are nearly always full in July. We parked on the curb of the parking lot driveway. We first dropped a car at Algonkian Park and headed back to Kephart Bridge Landing, where we began paddling our way down the remainder of Goose Creek to the Potomac River. Ate a packed lunch and arrived at the Algonkian boat launch in about 3.5 hours (probably about a 7 mile trip per Google Earth). It was a nice leisurely trip with the perfect amount of river time for an afternoon. There were at least a dozen Blue Herons along the Potomac banks and we spotted a Bald Eagle as well.If the water level get too low, I can see sections of Goose Creek getting challenging and requiring some amount of walking your watercraft around rocks and shallow areas. In our case, this wasnt necessary and we had a great trip.Highly recommend for:- Access to Goose Creek- 3 - 4 hour paddle trip to Algonkian Park boat launch- Hiking- Canoe and kayak launch point
How is the fishing here ? What types of fish are in there?
Nice place for an easy hike.
Down tree blocking the path
Good place
Shhhhh
Exhausting !!
Running and hiking in a beautiful countryside!
Would like to go thwere sometime indeed.
