On a wonderful Fall Saturday, my wife and I decided to find a winery that we hadn’t visited before, so we decided on Dry Mill. After driving 30 minutes to get there we couldn’t find a parking spot. Apparently, the spots aren’t marked, and 4 or 5 patrons decided that they needed to take up space for 2 cars instead of one. So we could not stop in a winery that appeared ti be highly regarded. Luckily, we found another winery that was close by that did offer ample parking and good wine, so, happy accident! Just be prepared for the parking issues.
Came here after reading some of the recent reviews of the major wineries in the area (ST, etc). We are locals and were looking for a nice place to sit outdoors at, and enjoy some nice wine. This winery was lovely and we had a wonderful time. We ended up having the rosé slushies, and highly recommend them! They are serving everything in disposable cups (great during Covid-19), and have a good distance between all of the tables. They allow you to bring your own food, and have plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and we will definitely be coming back. It is not a place for scenic pictures or views, which was perfectly okay with us, but is good to know for those who may be in the hunt for a winery with all the bells and whistles.
Parking lot was somewhat empty, for a beautiful Saturday afternoon; at least it was quiet... Tried both red+white flights; one of the reds was merely okay, the others I could do without. The view was boring; just a field bordered by trees; no water feature, no grape vines. The staff seemed friendly and sweet, like coming home. I just wish I enjoyed their wines as much as others who bumped this place to 4.5 stars.
Great customer service, really friendly and helpful staff. Okay, having the wine slushie is a must here. I’m not usually a slushie person, but these were way too good. Both the rosé and red wine slushies were fantastic! The traditional wines were also very good. Sitting out back in the yard near sunset was pretty and a nice relaxed environment.
Great winery with ample space to social distance. Friendly staff! Tasty wine.
Great space for social distancing. Their mold apple cider was delicious
Great wine with an amazing outdoor area to enjoy it in. I would highly recommend you try the mead as well!
Not the fastest service or the most seatting, but always friendly people and good wine. Nice setting for being so close to town.
Such nice staff! Very willing to explain everything to make sure you try the right wine for you. The seasonal mulled cider was absolutely amazing!!
Amazing staff and kind!
Very nice winery the wines are top notch the staff makes you feel at home love the outdoor seating area cant wait for warmer weather so we can enjoy the patio. Its not often one finds that they enjoy all of the wines. Nice location & easy to find plenty of parking .
My group of girlfriends & I were helped by Sandy at the tasting. She was super personable and shared great knowledge of the wine and we enjoyed her service and conversation! Even though it was a bit chilly the day we went, the owner quickly set up the heat lamps and we enjoyed the rest of our day there. Would definitely recommend checking this place out!
Very friendly staff, tasty wine and charming atmosphere. Im from out of town, but Ill definitely be back.
Absolutely lovely! Staff is wonderful, their wines even better, especially their 17 barrel chardonnay. I thank my brother-in-law Fred & my lovely sister Philippa for taking me to one of their wine tastings. Perfecto!
My husband and I have toured our fair share of Nova wineries. There is something special about Dry Mill. The quaint atmosphere and the home-y feel provides the perfect setting for sipping wine. Not to mention the staff and the owner are about as top notch as they come. Give it a chance, and enjoy the wonderful company!
Amazing service from an intimate, personal winery! You cant go wrong with any wine (the rose is something special) and do not pass up the chance to try the mulled wine cider or the wine slushie. They offer guided tastings and a variety of charcuterie options. The staff was friendly and passionate and never made us feel rushed even when we were there till close!
Dean and Nancy are the absolute best host. Their wine is some of the most flavorful and enjoyable around the DelMarVa peninsula. Love this place.
The owner was friendly, and the tasting was upstairs. The environment was nice and cozy. Most of the wines tasted relatively unexceptional to me, but I am absolutely not an expert. The Traminette was very unique. We hung out for awhile after the tasting, and many if the people I was with really seemed to enjoy the mulled wine. All in all a good experience!
Wonderful people and great wines
The wine isnt your typical Virginia wine. Dean, the owner, is originally from Tennessee, not Virginia, so dont expect it to be the same as other wineries. The wine is different, and appeals to some and not you others. He has a wine slushie machine, which is also not that conventional. Nice guy though.
Owner was very knowledgeable about different local wines
We have visited many wineries in the VA area and Dry Mill has some of the best wine weve come across. Their wine slushies are absolutely unbeatable (you also get to keep the glass which is nice). The owners are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable of their wines.
NOT KID FRIENDLY!!! Place was empty outside and the owner made it known our kids were too loud. Lots of potential but needs some work on their servers knowledge about the wines.
I love this place! Its so quaint and their wine slushies are the best!
Very good wine and friendly people! Small and charming.
One of the most consistently strong tastings in the area, and a beautiful setting. Super friendly staff.
Love this place!! The wine is fantastic, the location super convenient (just a few miles outside of downtown Leesburg), and theyre open later than other local vineyards. Dean, the owner, tells me he offers happy hour for teachers! The live music is a nice touch, too!
Update: We decided to revisit recently and had a better experience. The wines were fine, but nothing particularly stood out. The person doing our tasting kept leaving for long amounts of time and another employee had to take over at one point. The wine prices were really high, even by Virginia standards.Original review: We stood at the tasting bar for about fifteen minutes waiting for a tasting and it never happened. At one point somebody asked did you guys want a tasting and we said yes, but we were still ignored. There were only maybe two other groups at the tasting bar so Im not sure why they couldnt at the very least manage to speak more than a sentence to us.
I had a Meetup event here with my girls on a Sunday, a few weeks back, and it was great! The winery is cozy and nice. The vinter was there and was very knowledgeable of this history of the place...and of course the wine! Great place for a chill date, or a nice girls day!
If there was an option for 0 stars I would chose that. The lady that did our tasting was rude and not attentive at all. We waited an excessive amount of time, along with other customers, while our server showed little to no interest in serving and presenting our purchased wine tasting. No matter how nice we were, she had a horrible personality and needs to find a new career . Unfortunately an extremely distasteful experience!
I had a party of 12 for a tasting at Dry Mill recently. We were scheduled for a Saturday afternoon on a beautiful fall day. Not surprisingly, they were extremely busy and did their best to keep to the schedule we had agreed on. The staff there was very cordial and the tasting was run by the owner and one other man that were wonderful with our group. The price of the tasting was also very reasonable. One of the best wine tasting experiences I have had in Loudoun, and I have done quite a few. The only drawback I could mention is the location, which is a bit cramped inside and out (especially on such a great day to visit a winery) and the view was not up to what you would have in some other Loudoun vineyards. Still worth 5 stars in my book, though
Karen, the winemaker, was great to talk to about the winery, the wine and all.
Love this place. The wines are excellent but the people are better
They make am awesome unfiltered chamboursin. The owner dean is great, usually is the one pouring for me. A must visit for all wine lovers.
We had a wine tasting event for Valentines day. It was amazing highly recommend this place.
Great location to sip some wine and enjoy outside. Always a super friendly staff.
