LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS PLACE! if you love tall, old, shady trees to camp under, and walk through, this is the place!“Dell” came to mind when we first drove in. The campground is in a little valley. Every site is shady. We are in a camper van, but if we were in anything larger, I can see a problem because of all the trees and angles to dodge while setting up.We are here in the last days of July, so it’s extremely hot and humid, but that’s the South for you! We camp with our dogs, so the many shaded boardwalks are perfect. Bring bug spray. The campground is long and there is only one building with toilets and showers. It’s a bit of a hike if you park at the far end of the camping area, so keep that in mind when you decide where to set up. We are the only ones here tonight (last Thursday of July), and we picked a spot between the nature center (which is closed) and the bathroom, #19). Which reminds me, there are a couple of cute playgrounds for the kids here.Any negatives have been mentioned, but the natural beauty can’t be beat. We would return if we ever come this way again. Only $28 to camp a night.
One of the most underrated trails and board walks in the state. Even has a floating boat dock at the end of the board walk.
Great place for a nice walk through nature. They have both boardwalk and natural paths through the woods, and a paved path around the park. And the nature station is fantastic for educating people about the local flora and fauna. Absolutely love it!
Very nice. There were quite a few people out, so I was able to relax about walking there alone. Also, be warned: there was A LOT of poison ivy along the dirt trails.
Its quiet and small, and perfect for a small family outing
As good of a hike/bike path as youll get in the area. Several trails to try out.
We went to the Nature Station for a school field trip. It was fantastic! Lots to learn about. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and the children liked them because they were funny and entertaining.
Mosquitoes about ate me alive!
So much fun!! Great experience!! Finally made it to the night nature hike with the kids and it was so cool. We unfortunately had the experience of being with a noisy group which sure was scaring off most of what nature has to see at night. But over all it was really cool. Our tour guides were easy going and very educated. Answered all of our questions. We will definitely be attending the event again!
It was a great experience for our kids and we got to teach them about different plants, animal tracks, and outdoor safety. Our dog also really enjoyed it. We will definitely be back.
The park is very nice. We didnt see any animal but Im not sure there is too many in the park. Path are well maintained. The bad point is the indications as its not very clear. We were lost but found our way back
Pleasant walk. Trails are well marked and kept up. Looking forward to going back with the family soon.
Its such an amazing resource for recreational and educational needs. I love that our community has this. I hope we can get it more funding.
Pleasant place to walk and enjoy nature in Lafayette.
My son and I had an afternoon off and we took our dogs there to hike the trails all afternoon. It was a good way to spend a day without spending money.
Nice place to walk the bayou paths
Very interesting campground. Not a lot of work is done on the grounds. Camp sites are rather large but not all that level. You are next to a preserve. Keep that in mind. The campground is gated.
Very nice. Nature all around. The set up was great for our family Christmas lunch
Great for hiking and seeing the true old wilderness that use to be in this area. Elevated board walks keep your feet from the muddy trails. Great to see raccoons squirrels and birds all around.
Nice little camping area with tons of board walks. Its a pretty place to go stretch your legs.
Enjoyed our stay very much. I loved the nature trails. We stayed in the campground next door. It was peaceful. I only have 2 complaints. Cold showers. Not very clean and really dirty picnic table at our site.
Great quiet place to get away even though it is in the city. You would never realize that your in the city. Clean and inviting.
Love going here to get some fresh air!
Great place to take the kids. Mosquitos will devour you at this time of the year tho.
Didnt Get To Visit All Of It But Beautiful What I Could see
Great place to see UNLIKE any place in the USA!!
Nice trails. Little bit muddy in some places.
There are two main loop trails, the 2.5 mile south tract and the 3.5 mile north tract. 6 miles of trails through the swamps of South Louisiana. A beautiful place to take the kids, and they can get up close to nature. There are lots of trails that interconnect, so if they get tired its easy to get back to the trailhead. The Nature Station is somewhat small but they manage to get a lot of interesting things in there, and the people are great!
Nice walk around on elevated pathways
Great short trails and even a boardwalk right in Lafayette.
Muddy but fun hike with the kiddos
I love the place I went on the trails and the museum.
The campground and trail are both pretty awesome!
Nice easy hiking trail. Fun activity with kids.
Great place in the city of Lafayette. Trails. Great tree house style visitors center
Great trails. Lots of trails to hike and they are all in decent shape
What an amazing place more people need to know about.
Nice nature walks and raised boardwalk. Lower trails can get pretty muddy when it rains.
Awesome resources and staff.
We stayed for a week and loved it do bring bug spray there are mosquitos. Very quiet and the nature trails are very well kept.
Campground is too expensive and badly laid out. The walkways around are nice. The actual nature station is interesting.
Spacious and beautiful
Its a beautiful place to go walking. The addition to the board walk is really nice!
It was the best nice place to relax
Great, relaxing, well built, fun for the whole family.
Would love to take the family there
Its beautiful and tranquil.
Omg..Great place for young and old.. Very Educational place to learn about animals and the world around us... 5s all the way
Great hike
Nice place to get back amongst nature.
The trails are the best that you could expect in Acadiana. They have well-made bridges and boardwalks through the woods, along with kept trails and a camping ground. Theres also a frisby golf course both in the woods and in a field. Also there are soccer fields, and I believe maybe a basketball and tennis court.
Sometimes the masquitos are too much. Otherwise, lovely nature trails...
Great place to take the kids or just go to relax
Great place for family outing
Awesome trails, a blast to explore.
