A lovely county park that is full of things to do. There is a camping area, small beach zone, a couple of play equipment for the kids, multiple spots to fish, and a path that circles the entire park, making a great walking, biking, and hiking excursion. With easy access to the KRV Trail, you truly could spend all day in this lovely little park and enjoy every second of it.
They have done a great job of removing tables for social distancing. The food and the service is extraordinary, as usual. And while the price may seem a little expensive, when its in all you can eat, I think its pretty reasonable. And the pie is out of this world!
Beautiful park! Campground is fantastic with great amenities. Very open layout but not much privacy. There is also a absolute ripper of a mountain bike trail across the street. My only complaint is difficulty reserving campsites and not being able to get one day of. They require you to call for a campsite at least a day ahead of time, and the phone line is only answered during weekday business hours. No online reservation system either. Very antiquated means of making a reservation, the reservation system/methodology needs to get up to speed.
You cant take kayaks or any other watercraft on their water. So all the water in their lake has no purpose other then the one small area to swim in and the edges to fish in. One park ranger said that you cant even fish and some of them said you could, wich shows how disorganized they are and how obserd the rules are. So basically you can either splash in the toddler piss E coli filled water or just like walk around. But even then you might still get harrassed by park rangers
Sunbaked camping park. Full hookups and a nice swimming beach. Great for families! Meticulously maintained grounds. Friendly rangers. Conveniently located north of Kalamazoo in a preserve.
Clean bathrooms, not crowded. Came on a Friday about 2:30. Nice soft water. Great for family and friends!
Its wheelchair accessible which is nice, has a park and the beach is fairly small. Cigarette buts in the water. Can use some cleaning OR make visitors accountable for their trash. We will be back because we are close.
Very nice park but you need to watch people as they drive through some go a bit faster then 15mph
Great place to have a quick mountain bike ride, or a casual scenic walk.
Very nice neatly kept park. It was a pleasant surprise. Courteous and helpful staff. You can connect with the kvrt bike trail from the back of the park. All RV spots are full hookups on good condition concrete pads. Trees are about 15 - 20 height now. There is swimming pond añd separate fishing ponds as well (did not use).
Very nice sites for RV camping. Clean peaceful park
DNR & lady at the entrance were rude. We paid for 1 day & was trying to get another and DNR threatened to physically remove us if we didnt pack up & leave right then
So nice its kind of shocking. Immaculately maintained, fantastic facilities, beautiful campground. Very very impressed
Nice park. Tennis courts could use some maintenance. Beach and pavillion with horse shoes are great.
It is a wonderful place; camping, swimming, picnic area, playground, trails. Enjoyed time out there with family
I ride mountain bike and the Maple Hill trail attached to Markin Glen Park is a blast. There is a great combination of hill climbing and backside floaters that make this trail very entertaining.Make sure to pay to park!
Great beach with so many other things to do also!! Fishing, biking, playgrounds, camping, and more
Great for kids! Not great if not prepared.. And without An RV..Felt like a squirrel in the city.
Pretty nice little park. A great place to just chill, grill, and have fun with family and friends.
Quiet park not overly crowdy watch out for the chickens!
Perfect for small kids. Quiet, clean and not crowded.
Nice trails and some covered shelter with grills and a great beach for swimming
Great place to swim. And not a long walk from parking lot to the water
Great when you enter off of the KRVT since you wont have to pay for parking.
Its a nice park but the fishing isnt the best. Its got some pretty areas
Fun and challenging mountain bike trail!
Awesome trail. Right in the heart of Kalamazoo.
Staying here in a Class A motorhome for a few days, traveling from out of state. We have found this Park to be very clean, quiet, and organized. The paved walking trails are great for a 5 mile a day hiker such as I. Fishing lake, beach area for swimming, volleyball, tennis courts, horseshoes, picnic shelter houses and single picnic tables throughout. Helpful staff.
Its just not incredible. Dont get me wrong, its a great place for families but if youre going by yourself its a bore.
Camped here for the weekend, nice lakes and spots.
Camper parking, bike paths, swimming, kid playground, picnic shelters. Well maintained. Kalamazoo County Parks are top notch. Visit all of them. Annual fee...well worth it
Fun MTB flow trail. Great for all ages.
Great trails for walking or biking
Second time staying there. Everything considered you wont find a better value in RV parks. Well maintained, level concrete pads, wider sites and clean facilities. All for $30 a night. An excellent place to stay. Dont miss the trails.I realize this is a publicly owned facility but many private campground operators could learn a lot by just walking around this place.
Wonderful place, nice paved campsites with full hookups. Great help from the office and close to it all of downtown kzoo. We always use this as a home base when staying in the area. This is truly a hidden gem since it is not to old of a campground I am certain that it wont stay that way for long. The playground for the kids could be a little bigger but they have a nice shallow area for swimming that the kids love and lots of bike trails.
So quiet, clean and the people are really nice
Nice trail, but my buddy got a flat tire from broken glass that was on the trail.
Nice small clean park with large lots.
Wonderful park, awesome for biking and hiking. Absolute gem in Kalamazoo. Truly special. Excellent courses for beginners, intermediate and advanced bikers. Really well designed. Spring time is excellent for hiking to enjoy the beautiful spring wildflowers. Also make sure to weed out some invasive garlic mustard to preserve the native habitat. Hoping they incorporate bins for disposal of garlic mustard. Love this place and want to keep it beautiful
Weve been coming to this park for years. The staff is wonderful. The campground is clean and its in a beautiful setting. Why only 4 stars, you might ask? Well, this actually has nothing to do with the park. The park is next to railroad tracks where diesel trains sit for hours on end running their engines. This morning, it ran for 5 hours. Otherwise, this is the only campground near Kalamazoo that has room for big rigs and its the best!
Very nice and clean park.
Beautiful day for a walk in the park
My kid loves the place. Thats good enough for me.
Kids always have a blast here
Here for mountain biking, and thoroughly enjoyed the fast, flowing trails. Well maintained, seemed to drain fairly well after recent rain, and having a pond to cool off in hit the spot. Note: $5 entry fee per car (other rates for other vehicles).
Clean place with great staff!
Best bike trail in Kalamazoo! Not for beginners unless you can adapt to a steep learning curve and arent afraid of falling.
MTB is great
Great place to take the kids or get away and camp for a night.
Very pretty and clean. Very much enjoyed our walk.
Great park close to town. 5th time here and will return. Plenty of hiking and biking trails and close to the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Plenty of room for the large RVs, cement pads with full hookups.
Amazing, i love this place, have and forever will
Always enjoy this well maintained campsite
We love camping at Markin Glen. It is a local campground that allows us to relax without the busyness of travel! They keep the park clean and restrooms clean as well!
A nice park as long as they keep it clean.
Very nice clean campground. The sites all offer a nice paved area for your camper. The water, power, and sewer hook-ups are very close to each site which makes set-up easy. The bathrooms were always very clean. They have a nice large shower in the womens side. The bike trails were very well maintained and the beach was always clean. The only negatives were the train that went through with its whistle blasting at 11 pm and the lack of shade. They have trees that are growing and in a few years there will be nice shade, but now it is very sunny. Additionally, the sites are pretty close together. There is not much space for games or kids activities at the actual site.
Mountain bike trail is awesome. Good climbs with fast well designed downhills. Highly recommend a visit.
Good for a stop over day or 2. To get to the park you must go through miles of residential neighbors with low hanging tree branches to negotiate. Not big rig friendly.
A true hidden gem in Southwest Michigan. Great packed trails and large Boulder features for technical routes.
Its a beautiful place to the the whole family, go on a date there, and/or to enjoy alone. Its conveniently located and is not far off the beaten path.
This was a great Campground. Nice pads for no muddy camping. Connected to a great community beach.
Had a wonderful time camping. Good fun, family and pet friendly, clean showers and restrooms. Nice beach, great atmosphere
The camp ground is clean and well kept. Lots of things to do, trails for walking and biking playground for the kids and a beach that is nice and clean.
Very family friendly and something to do for everyone!
Clean small swimming beach area. Visited for the first time
Beautiful local park but very very vague on where you can have dogs. The sign said no dogs only on the beach so we were on the grassy area a little ways away from the beach with our 2 lab puppies and got told we had to leave by 3 different workers while we were already trying to move our stuff! Waste of my $5 to enter over a misunderstanding having never been there btw. We stayed for barely 30 minutes. Not impressed at all and 2/3 staff members were extremely rude about telling us to move.
A very nice park with many activities scheduled during the warmer months including outdoor pick-nick concerts. Wonderful for family time outdoors where kids can run around and meet others their ages.
To many fish fine to swim in tho. Tip if you dont want fish to come near do not bring any type of raft/floatie
I will be getting my membership for sure. What a beautiful park.
Its great place to camp
Very nice and clean campground, nice bike trails, definitely would come again ️
Very nice campground big pads for our fifth wheel nice sandy beach and great views
Great place for swimming biking tennis camping or just for a picnic
Great place for a family gathering. nice gazebo locations great shaded areas.
Bike trails
With a beach, good looking RV park, tennis courts, and amazing bike trails nearby, this is the perfect place for a day or overnight stay
I made a trip out to Markin glen park after hearing about the fishing online. I didn’t hear the fishing was great but what I heard was intriguing. So I went to check it out. I would NOT recommends you spend $5 entre fee if all you plan to do is try to catch a couple bass. The ponds are absolutely stunted. Largest bass seen was in the 10 inch range. I saw 3 small gills.. stock your pond or something! Give the bass something to eat! All in all, don’t go the Markin glen for fishing. Absolutely trash.
Beautiful and close by.
Beautiful beach with plenty of areas to walk and enjoy the scenery. But keep in mind this camp ground is centered much more around RVs/Campers than tents. Each camp site has a giant cement slab right in the middle meant for an RV/Camper. We managed to pitch out tent in the small patch of grass off to the side.
Regarding Markin Glen Park I remember going here when I was a little girl with my family back when the park was free if you look around you see a lot of the entrances that used to be open are now shut off not not used to being me and use because the parks no longer free theres any you know you got to pay to get in sad but Im well but its still a beautiful Park and well worth the money fishing is awesome the hiking is awesome just watch out for the goofy animals tickly the Squirrel Nuts literally but still beautiful Park thank you Kalamazoo for taking good care of it and not cutting the trees down sayonara
Nice clean well cared for park
Clean and wonderful staff
The lady at the gate was awesome. I was there for a company picnic and the ranger came by and made sure the trash got emptied before it got too full. It was peaceful and quiet out there.... our company had looked to change up the location of our yearly picnic.... and i think we found a new one, much closer to kzoo than where wed been going.
My family enjoyed ourselves here.
Go there for my birthday parties. Just generally really fun.
Nice park. First time visit.
