The lake is in a convenient location and has new facilities. Unfortunately it can be a little rough with the patrons. And the lake is full of bacteria that can be very harmful. But free and great location can override the negative aspects. Just promptly shower upon returning home.

Its a great park to go swimming, walking, or just relaxing. I wish people would throw theircigarette butts away or not smoke at all. Those nasty things are all over the ground.

Nice place to take the family in a warm summer day, they gave a decent little play area for the kids and a small beach area, nice little spot just to enjoy nature as well. As long as you dont mind a little sea weed its a cool little spot. Nice spot for blue gill fishing no motor boats allowed

No parking at the bottom by the bathrooms but there is parking up top

Dirty water but a good place to bring your dogs swimming if you have furry friends that like to swim. Also they have a playground for kids to play on as well. Not allot of parking but it is kind of a smaller park. There should be a few regular parking spots down below by the park as well not only handicap.

This place is awesome. I remember all this gorgeous property when I was a kid. We use to ride our bikes there and do all the things kids do and then go down to the beach on Woods Lake for a swim before riding our bikes home. ️

We have some dear friends who live by Woods Lake in Kalamazoo, MI. In the summer we often sit outside to have dinner with them and enjoy the lake view at its best. Pure Michigan!

Not much of a beach. Rocks and seaweed abundant. Good place to fish. Free parking and free admission.

Have enjoyed this place since I was a kid. Now I bring my grands from time to time. You can forget the hustle & bustle of the city for a few hours.

Its a nice set up and playground but usually crowded with questionable people... I only come here when convenient, never really plan to come here in mid summer

We are from Florida and found it refreshing to have a beach within easy access.

Dirty water but if you are in a pinch and need to cool down it is an option.

Nice place to swim. However the city of Kalamazoo needs to clean up and do some more landscaping to open more space for the beach.

I disliked this place because it was filthy. goose poop everywhere. water was dirty with garbage. the only thing worth going for is nature and the playground.

New renovations are lovely. Parking and access easy for anyone.This lake is occasionally closed to swimming due to surface runoff and bacteria but its tested daily for safety. Great place to catch rays ☉or let the kids play on the beach and brand new playground. Fishing and relaxing in the heart of the oaks.

I really like Woods Lake Park. The moderate-sized lake has a temperature like a bathtub during hot summer days, and it is open to the public when the gates are open in the parking area on Oakland Drive. Even parents with babies frequent this lake. I have also seen families with dogs, and there is a station with waste disposal bags. That’s definitely a plus.The beach is pretty sandy, and theres only a little bit of gravel here and there. When you go out to the lake far enough, you have to be careful, because theres a sudden drop in depth. But I think that is pretty cool if people want to practice swimming underwater.About 100 or 200 feet away from the public beach area, you can see aquatic vegetation and water birds. It is very entertaining.All in all, if you happen to be near the Oakwood Plaza on a hot summer day, and you really want to swim, I suggest you give Woods Lake Beach Park a try.

I was meeting my kids here for a parenting time with my children. My children loved this place and had so much fun.

I have been going to woods lake all my life. I watched it transform from a densely wooded place that you had to fight to get to the good fishing spots. Now its a pleasant little lake with a great pavilion, playground and bathrooms. Cudos to kalamazoo

Apparently people dont follow the rules.. last week i went and there was a tone of cars parked down in handicap parking with no stickers and numerous cars parked down there on the grass.. today there was two different couples who came down with their dogs on the beach, which clearly states no dogs on beach... looks like maybe someone should be coming down there to enforce the rules.. other then that, nice beach

Newly renovated with new childrens playground and handicapped access ramps, Woods Lake Park is a nice treat. It was easy to park and we are in the water in seconds!

They have really revamped the park. It is super nice and close to home.

Too small, no places to sit along the lake, and crowded within seconds. You are on top of other people and it gets loud.Lovely peaceful lake, scenic but serenity ruined by small close quarters.

If you have little kids you can wear them out on the bazillion stairs to the beach. Small park but nice to have something local.

Earmuffs for the children and watch for garbage and cigarette butts. It is a very clean (lake weed) lake and it has a playground. Good for a free swimming beach.

Small lake, nice that they dont allow motorized boats. Good for kids and families. Very noisy due to people yelling and screaming a lot. Was not pleased.

Great fun place to soak up the sun, fish and bbq! The beach needs work because its all just highly compacted dirty sand.

So happy we found a nice beach and is dog friendly.
