Love!! I enjoyed many good memories here.Highly recommend this peaceful park.
Great green space in downtown Johnson City! The park layout and landscaping creates a series of spaces, from the amphitheatre to the creek, and the great lawn. There is a changing selection of statues and art along the sidewalks. The park hosts many events throughout the year, including outdoor yoga, founders after 5 free concerts, Shakespeare in the park, and many festivals. There is even a citizen science project at the west end of the park, where you can learn about the flooding problems in Johnson City and report the current water level of the creek.
Well maintained park, excellent place for a warm picnic lunch with husband and grandchild. Lovely flowing water, sculpture art, trash cans available. Perfect place!
I love coming here to ride my bike and visiting the restaurants near by. Easy parking places for free and the walk is never too far ️
Nice place for a walk in the downtown area. Festivals and other events occur here often. Theres a flat field for tossing a frisbee or football. There are a lot of sculptures and a creek in the park.
We visited the area and spent 2 seperate nights here. Beautiful area with great trails to walk along. Also great nightlife in the area and came across some beautiful murals.
Great place to walk your dog around downtown Johnson City or even let the kids rid their bikes. Its surrounded by good places to eat, the only downfall is all the construction going on right now.
Always a pleasant peaceful place to visit in the heart of Downtown Johnson City. Lots of local, and small restaurants, shops, brewers, and more around within a short walking distance of the park.
Nice park, be even better when the trees grow enough to provide shade.Nice well kept paths with plenty of space for social distancing (this is mid July 2020 and area has many Ill people).Im not a fan of the art that is on display there, I think some of those spots should have tree plantings instead of some abstract looking rusty odds and ends some call art..maybe a small fountain would be nice too. That area also offers free wifi.
For a city park this place is incredible. A creek runs right through the middle of it and you can sit and dab your feet in it or your dog can run in it or your kids can play in it there are concrete sidewalks all over the place and there is a semi bowl at one end where they have concerts during the summer. The park is very well kept and very well lit and very well worth your time and effort to go see it
More than 60 Christmas trees lit up, it was beautiful !
Love the art sculptures, the water features, and the scenery. One of my favorite places to people watch while getting my steps in.
Nice location and its pretty. Place for picnics and ppl bring their pets. New to the area and this is one of the first places that became a regular spot to just relax and walk with my boys. Close to restaurants and in downtown area.
Clean open park. Nice for walks or letting the kiddos ride their bike. Convenient to downtown restaurants and the farmers market.
Lovely place to go have a quite refreshing time.
This is probably the most wonderful place in all of Johnson City. A very clean park, wide and spacious, with benches and other areas for seating. A creek runs through the middle of Founders Park with steps leading down to the water so children and dogs can play. Beautiful trees, plants, and foliage make this place very pleasing to the eye. This a great area to jog, walk, or to bring your dog to walk or play.
Beautiful area to walk around, enjoy the water features and ever-changing sculptures along the way.
Its clean, well kept, and a great location! I see it as not only a park; but a great up and coming venue!
Nice, open place to walk and hang out. Lots of art installments, close to downtown.
Great park for young adults. not so much for kids due to the large amount of homeless people and dangers of landscaping done by the park
A great place to take an easy stroll or walk your dog, there is a little spring water creek that runs through it that your pet or kid can play it, it has some deeper spots as well, just be careful of slippery rocks and have some water shoes to wear if you get in it due to smaller rocks, theres steps leading down to it that make it easy to acess and sit on.
Awesome artwork and views. Great place to take a walk.
Its nice watching a green space grow over the years. The creek is nice and the trees will make some shade in future years. The art sculptures are always cool when they switch them out.
Originally created to help defeat the flooding of Johnson Cities Downtown area, engineers and architects and all others involved in this huge project have gone far above their calling.I live in Kingsport and I have taken my dogs there 3 times already since one day I finally had time to check it out. I was impressed and amazed at what I was seeing. Beautifully landscaped and large open area for my dogs to play off their leash (if your dog does not listen or strays away I would suggest leashing it, also Im pretty sure there is a leash ordinance but, you know if you have a dog that will stay near you or not. They also have various art pieces on display all throughout the park and they are for sale. Some have been bought and donated to the park and when you see a piece that was purchased and donated, you will see that it would be hard to find a better place for that particular pieceFounders park holds many concerts and events throughout the year.Love, love, LOVE this place.OH also you can check the water level from a guage next to the bridge and it has a website you can go to and enter the current levels. Fun way to gather information while making it fun for the visitors.Highly recommend this park.
So beautiful & peaceful in the middle of hustle & bustle
Nice place to run, walk, or just hang out for a bit.
Park has a small stream running through and is bordered by a few restaurants and bars.
Its a beautiful little park. Wish they had made a little pond area with the creek.
Founders park is usually a beautiful park in a very trendy rejuvenated park if downtown Johnson City. It is a super fun place to take your pets for a walk or throw frisbee in the field.Unfortunately you have to go in the morning or noon on Sunday or else you will be harassed by homeless people or drugged out people sleeping in the bushes. Not a safe place to go after dark. The city is also constantly doing construction and work to/around the park that cuts off the sidewalk.
A wonderful place to go! Theres more things coming that will make it a better experience for you n the family!Need? More trees!
Nice place to contemplate the meaning of life, the joy of death, and the possibility of an eternal life
Great park, the dogs love it and the people are very friendly!
Great place for walking your dog or talking walks with the family. Exploring the stream with the kid or listening to some great music or attending a fair. Lots of art work placed in the park. Beautifully landscaped with bridges and trees and flora.
It has a large open field for playing, an amphitheatre with live music on the summer weekends, it is pet friendly and it has a wading stream to cool your toes.
My favorite park. It has a nice walking trail and plenty of space.
Cool park to walk through in downtown Johnson City. There are numerous are pieces, a small river, a spot for live music, and some grassy areas.
It speaks for itself honestly. If you need a place to relax, hang out with a friend, or take some pictures, this is a great spot
Its not tyrannical lockdown
Nice place to walk, eat a meal or meet with friends.
A great addition to Johnson City, offers a nice place to walk the dog. Go for a jog, or just go see a concert on a Friday night. I often use this as a place to take family photos as well.
Very stunning and simple place to spend the day.
Great open space right at downtown Johnson City. Art, walking paths, large grassy field. Many festivals are held here.
Beautiful park to walk around. The creek that winds its way under bridges and through the heart of the park is especially mesmerizing when precipitation is high. Varied plant life is also a major draw of this park.
First time at the park but a long time resident of Johnson City. It is a marvel of engineering and ingenuity. Proud to call Johnson City home and proud of our city government.
I enjoy walking with the kids here
Very nice, clean park with Art and Creek feature.
Very nice place to walk dogs, kids and old folks. Near good eating places.
Super Friendly People. Great atmosphere. Fantastic scenery and tins of awesome events, shops, restaurants and cafes which I LOVE!!!!
Love walking around downtown and Founders Park
Tremendous green space in heart of Downtown JC!
Great place to walk your dogs.
Great place to walk around and enjoy beautiful scenery and gorgeous art pieces.
Always nice and fun
Its a cute little park. They hold little festivals here but parking is a problem when they do that. They have made steps down to the creek for kids and adults so that everyone is invited to play in the water. (Sometimes the water is higher making it rough to play in) great place to walk your dog.
This is a nice dog park . Also a great place to meet and greet people and other dogs
Always enjoy a trip to Founders Park. The walking paths are lovely and the local artwork fixtures are really interesting. Nice to have a place like this downtown.
Great place for a walk and awesome events always happening. Needs a kids play area to get 5 stars
Great little place to take a stroll. Not a dog park, but dog friendly. Lots of Pokemon Go stops if youre into that. My kids usually have some dam fun in the creek that runs thru it. Well lit at night. I go there several times a week.
Great place to relax or walk.
Beautiful park that lets you enjoy the city at the same time.
Beautiful place but people will not keep their dogs on a leash
Great urban downtown park with lots of open spaces and an outdoor ampitheater with beautiful views of Buffalo Mountain in the background. Different and interesting art pieces around the paved walking path. The park also has a creek through the middle of it that helps with flood mitigation l.
Fun to walk
Nice little walking park next to downtown, adds a little beauty to the area.
This is a beautiful park located right in downtown Johnson City. Its well maintained and well lit during the evening/overnight.
My kids love walking around this little park. Several paths and sculptures. I wish there was a water fountain.
Founders park is a great place to hang out! There is an amphitheater where they have music sometimes and some cool sculptures.
This is a great park for if you want to just walk around and enjoy downtown Johnson city. There are always very well made and interesting art along the path, it really helps to connect you to local artists.
This is a very pretty area to walk around and toss a frisbee around. There are several good restaurants nearby within walking distance.
It was so pretty down there
Beautiful place to be.
Great walking path. Sitting next to the stream is very relaxing. Adjacent to the Farmers Market (Wednesdays and Saturdays).
Founders park is an excellent place to visit, walk, and dog watch. I come frequently and walk and sit by the water to think. Sculptures have been changing recently which is cool.
The city is doing unimprovments instead of improvements. Cutting down trees and shrubs they planted. Removing a bridge across the creek. WHY???? SURELY NOT TO WASTE AT LEAST 30,000.00 TAX PAYER DOLLARS?
It’s just beautiful. I wish there were more sculptures but honestly it’s just a quiet little park.
Love this park! Great place to run or take the kids for a walk.
Nice place for a walk and to see old buildings downtown.
Such a nice place to walk and hang out! Thank you Johnson City for developing such a trendy place. Music in the park. Food choices. This place is a favorite go to place of mine.
Founders Park is in a great location. Parking is good. Being in the heart of downtown Johnson City it’s like an escape from the hustle and bustle. Lots of vendors, food trucks and restaurants in walking distance makes for a great experience. Seems to be pet friendly with owners taking precautions for their dirty business. Lots events held there and has a good space for those to held.
We get in the creek water and kids love it with ducks there too
A good place to walk around if you have extra time. There is some nice art to view while you walk and a small creek going down the middle of the park.
Cool place to walk dog always something going on here great for the whole family
Nice place to take a walk or just sit for a moment to gather your thoughts.
Loved the parade with all the participants! Well done!
Lots of outings done here. Small but beautiful
Founders Park was a great addition to the downtown area. Plenty of wonderful green space and walking area. Hosts several summer events and festivals in spectacular fashion

I enjoy visiting this park to play guitar at semi-frequently. Even though this park is not overabundant with trees and vegitation, it is well designed and in the middle of downtown which makes it very pratical. The water way made with brick is a welcome and well made feature. The only issue I find with this park is that is fairly small but still I end up just finding a place to squat at and jam for awhile so no real complaints here.
Always fun and happy environment my dog loves it I can take him their and unleash him and he had a blast the majority of people do not bring in friendly animals so its nice to mingle with other pet owners and watch them have a blast I give founders park a A+ 5 stars its wonderful
Love this little park, it has a little creek running through it, not enough for my dog to swim but enough for her to wade in it and get cooled off. There are concerts on Fridays in the summer and a Farmers Market on Wed and Sat at the Pavillion, near the railroad tracks so that is really loud when they go by but I really like this park. They opened up the tree lined walk area so you get a little shade but not so much bushes where people used to take naps during the day. Police are sometimes in the parking lots as its near downtown which they are trying to revitalize.Nearby you can go to White Duck Taco, my favorite place for tacos, connected to Yee Haw - if you bring your dog to the park you can sit outside at White Duck with your pup.Parking for Founders Park is along the park and across and in the pavillion area. I feel safe when I walk there during the day, but I probably wouldnt go in the evening. All in all - our favorite quick walking park and reflection area along the creek!
