Beautiful park and trail system for all hiking skill levels. Pretty creek. Trails well signed and maintained. Trails and bridges across stream made to blend wonderfully into natural surroundings. When wildflowers blooming great spot to see butterflies and hummingbirds. Picnic pavilion and two parking areas make for easy access.
This park is definitely a must see, its great beauty thats inside the city limits. *WARNING* The water is not 100% clean and NEVER get in or drink from any water here. The parking lot is small but you can park at the church about 30 yards down the street. The trail systems are clean, clear, and marked well. Beautiful wild flowers are found throughout the trail. Theres plenty of benches to stop and rest, along with bridges for easy access. One bridge is a bit dangerous so if youve got kids Id recommend carefully helping them across.
Neat place but wouldnt necessarily recommend for very young kids. Weeds and grass were very high on the Maga trail and a lot of dirty water with e-coli that is very easily reached. Trails mimick hiking trails in deep woods, but arent very difficult to traverse. We plan to go back in Fall.
Took wife and kids thought it would be a nice walk through the woods. It is a pretty area with some small wildlife to look at. The park is named after a kid that use to play in the area and died from e-coli. When I found out that it was the water in that area that caused it I was upset because that is not explained in the signs and I allowed my children to play at the bank of the water not knowing of the dangers. There needs to be clear signs around the water.
The park is a short drive and the trails are nice and shady. The park is usually not crowded.
This is a great nature reserve that holds a special meaning! Simple trails for any skill level. Nice creek playing area that is shaded for some water play with children. Recommend for easy hiking skills, children and pets.
Love this hidden gem! Its just a short walk from my home, so I take my dogs there all the time, and try to pick up litter as often as I can!
Easy trails and clean. Not too much parking but if you go early its no big deal. Be careful over bridges with small children.
Jacobs is a nice city park. The lower trail is level and has a wood chip surface. Nice view of wetlands and marshy areas.A cpl stream crossings are risky and sketchy when the creek is up.The Ridge trail is a workout with some areas almost too slippery to climb. Nice views at the top and lots of large trees.
Nice little spot to hike but not being able to let kids and dog in water due to it having elevated levels of fecal bacteria was big disappointment.
Awesome little nature trail, totally free and worth a visit
Fun little hike in the city
Beautiful little park hang up the hammock and just enjoy the peacefulness.
A hidden gem in Johnson City. From the ridge trails to the wetlands and meadows this unique park offers a wonderful and educational opportunity to our residents. A red dragonfly, native turtlehead flowers blooming on the creekside, monarchs and viceroys, migrating hummingbirds, tiger swallowtails on the Joe Pye weed, leopard frogs, turtles on trails and in the creek.... its a wonderful place to slow your pace and embrace nature. Jacobs Park is now a state certified level one arboretum with the unique feature of focusing on pollinators and songbird support. So far, more than 133 species of birds have been seen in Jacobs Park. Its an eBird hotspot. Including the bird species, park visitors have now logged nearly 700 unique species of plants, trees and wildlife. You can also see (and report) every species of everything seen in the park via iNaturalist. There is an additional parking lot at the back entrance! Youll find this at the end of Ocala Street. Drive in slowly! And as always, read the TDEC signs that clearly advise not to fish, wade or drink the water in the park.
Wonderful trail..Great for a short easy walk. Very scenic and well maintained
Great place for a walk outside. There are a few bridges that require some skill to cross. So, young children will need assistance for them to cross safely. Improvements keep happening here. There are identification plaques on trees along the trail. There are some educational stations for kids that discuss animals in the area such as butterflies, salamanders, and reptiles.
Nice park for a walk or short hike in the woods. More there than first appears!
Really great hidden little gem to escape in the raw beauty of the foot hills in close proximity downtown and the tweetsie. if your dumb enough to get lost often, at this place you cant for more than an hour.
This park is the best
Nice trail, but do NOT get in or pick anything up around the creek. The story of why this place exists is bad enough and even though there has been great effort to clean it up, Im not sure it is.
Loved the trial and the ppl did a great job on it
Awesome hiking, swimming and beautiful atmosphere. Nature at its finest.
Pretty place, some steep spots and one bridge thats definitely not for the faint of heart! Great short hike.
A nice short hike in Johnson City. Great variety of trees and birds.
This place was my wedding location and it was the dream wedding thanks for letting us do our wedding there it is amazing and would give anybody the opportunity to do a wedding there it would be amazing for them also
Nice little set of paths. One along the creek and another that goes up into the woods. Pretty easy hike. Has some log bridges that may not be for the faint of heart when it comes to bridges but all in all real nice little park.
A great place to hangout with the family.
Its pretty, park in an residential setting, mostly forrested with over a mile of trails. Has a clear fast running stream with log Bridges and some small rock cliffs. Its never crowded and has benches to sit on here and there. My puppy Nina loves it, and I do as well.
They need more parking, it got busy after we arrived and someone parked right on top of us. Not cool! Heard a few gunshots which was a bit concerning. Otherwise, very nice.
Great little park. But note water warning for E Coli etc...
Nice neighborhood park. They just added the Arboretum so you can learn to recognize several commontree species. Only room to park 5-6 cars.
Nice gentle hike with a couple of tree bridges, good fun
Great place to take a short hike. Easy trails and benches to sit on along the way. Easy terrain for younger children.
I went pretty late (about 8:30p) the trails were nice. I just wish there were a few more markers (saying which way was out) lol. Also the creek there was very pretty, but there is a sign saying not to get in the water due to a high level of sewage
The path along the creek was overgrown. Watch for the parking space as its easily missed.
Loved it here
We had a great time. Lots of big trees and rocks, a cave, creeks with unique foot bridges. Enough climbs, flats and will flowers. Loved it. Thank you!
Great place to take walks
Jacobs Nature Park is one of my favorite places to walk and connect with nature.
This is a great place for dogs and a short hike! Plus it was made in memory of a sweet little boy who died of ecoli and the park raises awareness on the issue.
Nice little place to walk, pretty stream and its clean and quiet
Beautiful place for a nice walk, not to strenuous fine for beginners.
Beautiful little park/trail in honor of a sweet little boy who has a heartbreaking story. The trail walks over a creek thats beautifully done, however the park needs a little landscaping tlc. Cut the weeds back, weedeat the sides of the trail leading up to the bridge, and it would make a bigger impression on people.
Our families favorite park!
It was really a cool place to walk.
Pretty trail, well marked. Could use more parking though, only fits a few cars
It was great! We say a rare red salamander under a log, and enjoyed the hike!
Nice little park that was dedicated to a boy who passed away in the area. You should visit it and walk the trails.
Cute little park but it needs a little maintenance, mainly weeding the trail.
Great place to walk your dog and very peaceful.
Neat place.
Its a nice park to walk the dogs.
Great park to visit
Nice place for a quiet walk.
Beautiful and peaceful
Very good place to get out and about and experience nature
Great place to walk your dog!
Quiet, peaceful, nature
Never been here
Truly a hidden gem in Johnson City.
Not much here, yet.
Love this nature place
