Well paved so no problem for bicycling. Zero shade as all the plant life was ripped away several feet out from each side of the walkway. If you like nature and find Texas warm, not the trail for you.
I really loved this trail. Its around 976m long and good for walking, jogging, cycling. Also fishing and rowing can also be done on the creek along the trail. Wildlife inhabits the place and its wonderful to watch. I have seen armedillo, a viper and some cranes and eagles. People sometimes come here for bbq as well for small group gatherings. It has a big parking lot as well. We have also did kite flying in this place and it was lovely. I have seen some folks playing cricket and soccer in the open space as well. The entrance is right under the PGBT flyover, so wont be noticed easily. Use google maps to reach here. Only disappointment is no public restroom and one porta potty. Definitely a good place to have some fresh air.
To the point:-Clean-Excellent pavement conditions-wide paths-excellent for bikes and rollerblades-Safe-Wildlife(Armadillo, coyote-rarely seen, rabbits, tons of birds etc.-Always has people walking at all hours-Plenty of shade-Good Parking-Bathroom in Parking
Great place to take the kids. Looks awesome in the fall!
I like the wide path on the trail for biking as a family. Being able to take a break by the riverside is a great bonus!
We go biking here every weekend. It is peaceful and clean with not a lot of other people which is a plus
Come here around spring, there are lots of wonderful Texas Bluebonnets scattered across the field. It is a wonderful time to come and watch the field of flowers. Also, the park offers good trails for biking, running, jogging, and walking. The trails are long and can take you through the woods. They also have mile markers and also have many uphills and downhills for anyone who needs to know. There are also some hiking paths for anyone who needs that.
Great place for a run and or bike ride. The trails are wide enough to be able to maintain social distancing if needed.
Great place to walk, bike, or take your dog as there are lots of safe areas to toss a ball/frisbee that are secluded, not near other people, roads, other dogs, etc. They also have bikes you can rent, port a potties, rudimentary workout contraptions like a lower back raise machine, one for leg presses, chest press, etc that are bolted to the ground dispersed throughout the park/along the trail. There are some good spots to fish also.
I love it here. so peaceful
Excellent and well maintained trails, the greenery by the sides lowers the temperature quite a bit making the Dallas summer bearable.
I love this park. I bike and jog here. Beautiful and peaceful. Everyone I encounter is friendly and courteous.
Very clean n beautiful. Love it
Nice walking and biking trails, lacks benches to sit and rest if necessary during a decent walk. The short loop is 1.5 miles.
Great place to walk or bike. You may able to see lots of wild life.
I love this trail once it not flooded out!
Fantastic place for biking, walking and running with scenic views . Pretty long trailP.S : watch out for snakes crossing the trail
Great place to run and get your workout in.
Be prepared for a long stretch of pavement if youre walking. Make sure to pack extra water bottles. This place is awesome for bike rides or roller blading! The people are friendly too!!
Great trail for skates, bikes, or walking. Big open field for soccer or cricket.Porta potty was a mess!
Nice place with enough car parking. Good for walking or biking.
Lengthy, well maintained trail. Some shaded areas.
Pretty area to fish. The trails are nice for walking or riding a bike.
Very nicely maintained trail to walk with your dog, exercise and bicycle.Heavy rain tends to flood the trail during monsoon. Great to enjoy the beautiful nature and breath some fresh air.
Excellent trail for walking or biking. Lots of shade, clean and smooth terrain.
Beautiful trail. I fell in love with this trail 1st time when I went there. I won’t describe its beauty here, you must bring your bicycle here to see it for yourself.
It wasnt too bad
This a very fun, quick, scenic walking trail. My husband enjoy it very much.
Very nice trail to walk or cycle..
A walk on this trail any time of the year, is a walk to remember!! Love the beauty of the nature around this place. I usually walk only a few miles with my 1 and half year old. The flora and fauna fascinate him too...
Nice serenity. Water logged at the path in few places
My favorite trail to go for a quick run
This trail connects several amenities in the Las Colinas community. At its northern end, the trail starts in Valley Ranch and is accessible through the canal system that winds through neighborhoods and the Irving public library. At its southern end, the trail dead ends in downtown Las Colinas, where you can catch the DART, ride around Mandalay Canals or just chill out by the Mustang Statues. You can also ride a little further down the road to catch some mountain biking at L.B Houston trail. The trail is clean, well lit at night and has bathrooms accessible at its trailheads. Irving Police are right off the trail as well for added safety.
GOOD FOR Run, walk and bicycle trail.
Walked it with my sweetheart.
Very nice ..my dog love it.. our fav trail in Dallas..
Super Trail, safe and pets friendly.
Great park for cycling, running, walking or taking the dog for a walk. Couple of shelters along the trail and it runs along with the river so nice views.
Lovely walking biking and walking trail.
Love this trail. Great place for a quick evening or morning walk and nice enough place to go during weekend.
Massive bike trails and views of the river.
Nice place for hiking and fishing. Its empty even on weekend.
Sam Houston Trail Park is once again fully open. Irving Parks Department has been busy renovating this park since it was previously severely damaged by past flooding. Its been re-engineered and looks great! You can now access the entire park again. This is another great park along Campion Trail. Its at the north end, nearest to Valley Ranch. There is plenty of parking. Its made of two loops connected by a section of the trail that runs along the river. The south end of the park is bordered by the Elm Fork of the Trinity River, and on the other side of the river is TW Richardson Grove.
Lots of wildflowers, blue bonnets and assortments of many others all the while enhancing ones experience with vivid yellows, variations of pink, marvel darling. I feel safe all the way from Irving all the way to lake Caroline. Just do it.
Nice place for walking, and spending time with nature. Very calm and a good place to watch sunset. Some part of the park is flooded and is not accessible. I wish there were more birds.
Nice trails
Best place for running in Irving Texas area
Came to this Park via Campion Trail from the north. Attractive and well laid out.
Another park for my dogs. Enjoy the great trails, and scenery. Also by our home.
Beautiful trail to enjoy nature in the middle of a busy city
Good place to run ride your bike and fly kites with the kids,or Hangout
Its pretty nice when its not closed off because of flooding. Good for bicycles too, concrete trails.
Nice paved trail, good place to get some fresh air.
Great place for riding and running
Very nice park with enough trails and open spaces. The park is well maintained and there are bikes you can rent. The bikes can be rented with mobile app and very cheap.. 1$ for an hour. The park has miles of trails so perfect for run or biking. There is some shade, but suggest getting some sun protection.
Nice place but it needs to be cleaner and with more lights inside the bridges
Well kept, nice trails, good views.
Wow what a peaceful Walk, good place to cycle
Ideal place for all age groups who love to breathe fresh, feel fresh and stay fresh always. You walk, talk, run, cycle or just freeze to admire the nature for hours together, boost your energies and restart daily chores from your you left ...with extra power you have accumulated from natures best beings around you.The best WAY to celebrate earth day..praise the nature, be the nature and stay within the natures natural beings around you and let go your worries to the nature.Looking for music that can fit in the natural environment ...morning ragas, flute, chirps, tweets and various other sounds of nature blending with the serenity
I love going every morning. Its a very nice safe clean place. The flowers are so beautiful and trees relax me. You can drive there or simply walk if near by. The trail connects to the Valley Ranch area.
Went here to cycle and it was closed. They didnt even put on their website that is closed due to flooding. I had to call to find this out. The Google review page website doesnt they provide doesnt show any of this information. They just assume that you know that you have to go to a different website to find out the news. Wasted a lot of time trying to figure out why the park gates were locked.
A good place for stop over.
Nice trail to run. Didnt get boring at all during my 10 mile run. Lots of views although little parts of it are closed due to flooding or construction.
Great Park wide open spaces and paved trails
Good park. Lots of space. Very clean. Hogs might travel there at night.
Good trail for families and dog walkers
A dear heart of a park. The most peaceful walk around. Never any chaos and is patrolled for the safety of the visitors. A wonderfully crafted playground for the kiddos and always clean bathrooms with tissue
The trails are nicely maintained, wide, and paved. There are some benches, and wildflowers along the way.
I really enjoyed walking here. Felt safe and when my family and I relaxed while the kids played I had no issue at all getting a strong internet signal so I could check my email and use the internet. Placed 2 phone calls and again, did not have any quality issues. The grounds are kept very clean and my only complaint is dog owners are not cleaning up after their dogs when they relieve them, I almost stepped in dog waste 5 or 6 times. Kind of ruins things when you constantly have to watch your step.
Wide open spaces and a lot of trails. Not the most picturesque though, being right by the highway.
They have some really great trails totalling over 22 miles, with lots of good sights to see along the Trinity river. There is access to several small parks along the trails, and there are also a few nature trails also. There are a few large gap between water fountains, so its best to bring your own water. There are plenty of places to rest and view the river also. I cycled all the paved trails over about 3 hours and had a really nice time.
As advertised, concrete trails by the river. Sadly, with recent flooding the trails were underwater in places. But a nice park that I will visit again if Im in the area
Beautiful and quiet park with concrete trails for walking, running, and biking. Theres a parking lot if youre driving, and many different entrances for those who live in the area. The trails are well maintained and wide to accommodate any usage. Definitely a great place to come for a peaceful walk in the park or come for exercise.
Great for a long walk or bike ride.
Its flooded most of the time. Theres parts of the trail that Ive never seen open due to flooding. Beautiful area, but poor design.
Well maintained and peaceful. Wide area to walk/bike without worrying about running into someone and hurting them. Great place for Pokemon Go.
Perfect trail for cycling
Great place to bike! Follows the creek, most of it in the shade. FoamWorks came and lifted the broken segments, thank you FoamWorks!
Amazing trails beware when its raining or after a big rain. Some of the paths may be flooded.
Great outdoor space. All the trails are paved. You can walk through nature and then into the nearby neighborhoods. I saw a coyote, a lot of squirrels, and many other animals. In the middle of the city, this is great.
Closed with a high water sign and closed gate blocking the entrance to the trail parking. Wish Google Maps would be synced with the trail status so people dont waste time and gas to drive here.
Really nice bicycling trails.
Its always a nice n clean trail on any sunny evening.
After a Friend invited me one afternoon i decide to join him and his dog for a walk on these trails. Was very quiet even though it was close to the highway. We didnt see any one else but thats fine with us. Best part was a little library they have in a wooden box. Take a book, leave a book. Good times.
Great place to hang out. Nice and quiet
Beautiful place for walk/jog/bike/run
Nice park to walk dogs
Very Nice place for Jogging/Walking
Is a good park to get away from the hustle and bustle of suburban life. Had trails that are long and link to other trails in the Irving - Farmers Branch area.Though it is quite close to the Valley Ranch area of Irving, once you hit the trails it feels quite isolated and forested. Is quite accessible from east Valley Ranch Blvd though not sure where visitor parking is located at.
Great peaceful place to go for a jog or walk your dog. If you listen to music please stay clear to the right though for people who are riding bikes!
Incredible place to take kids on a quick nature hike.
