Back from 1972 to 1976 I was 10-14 years old. I was a volunteer. Boy those sure were the BEST days of my life. I enjoyed playing with all of the animals back then. There was this Spider Monkey named George who was my BEST FRIEND. Sure wish I could have taken George home with me. I am now 58. I may be older but I am still young at heart. I am in great health. I plan on going back to Irving Texas soon. Havent been back in 40.years. I left Irving in 1980 when I was 18. Too many memories back then not to go back. Fritz Park Petting Zoo was the BOMB!!!!!!!!!!! Glad it is still around. Nice to see that some things from my childhood never changed.

Neat, small and a great place where young little kids love to spend time. There were goats, duck, rooster, turkey, pony, cow and donkey. You can pet the donkey, goat and a bunny. Even though its open till 6 PM, they start moving the animals to rest from around 5 PM itself.

Very nice little farm. Animals are friendly and dont mind little hands all over them. Its small but its free so no complaints there. They have a variety if animals you can go in the pen and pet them. Some you can pet through the bars and some the workers hold the animal and you pet it. You cannot feed any animals only pet. The workers are hit or miss, some are super friendly and some could use some lessons on how to handle children who are just excited. They have a small area with stumps you can play on but some wobble so be careful. They have a coloring area with free coloring/activity books and crayons. Overall its very nice and clean especially since its free.

This is just a fantastic place to take kids. Its a wonderful little petting zoo where you can pet gentle animals. My two young children were fascinated. I knew this was nearby but we had never been before. My children enjoyed it so much when a petting zoo visited their preschool that I thought we might check out this local spot. Its a jewel. I highly recommend it!

I love Fritz Park Petting Farm! I love that this is offered free of charge in a city park...how cool is that! Its been around for many many years and is a tradition in our family. This is not a destination for tourists, but for us locals its a treat!... I took my two young boys to visit the farm this summer. My son loved petting the rabbits and goats. He also liked seeing the ducks and peacock. There are only a few animals to see but great for little kids. Its free which is great for families on a budget.

There are not a million animals here, but the place is peaceful and free. It has a petting area, a coloring area, benches, and great volunteers. This place is perfect for small children.Thank City of Irving, and the Farmer who lends the animals. I love Fritz Park Petting Farm! Remember this petting zoo is operated by the city of Irving and free of charge. In that light, I believe this place provides an exciting experience to see and pet livestock animals (for children). The animals, nothing exotic nor unusual, still give a good lesson to children that all living being is precious and worth for careful attention. I visited there with my two year old son, who loved to see the farm animals that he has known from reading books.

Im here right now. Only two families are here, including mine. The only employee here is having a personal conversation with the other family and will not let us in to see the other animals. I specifically asked this employee and he said no.Would be a neat place if my son actually got to pet any of the animals as intended.EDIT: Now we are here by ourselves and there is not a single staff person present to let us pet any of the animals.EDIT 2: I finally tracked down a staff member. He said the pony is on break because he bites people after an hour. The cow charges people. We are only allowed to pet the sheep through the fence, wouldnt say why. Only goats are available for petting.

What a great little park to kill some time at for a day. Although they only had one animal at the petting zoo available to pet, the crayon room and the ability to at least see the other animals was neat...and FREE. The playground nearby with shaded seating was a big plus and helped us round out the day.

Great FREE activity for young children. You can bring snacks & enjoy a little picnic to make the experience or playdate last longer. This seasonal petting farm is a favorite for my toddler, but children over 10 might not get super excited. Petting goats & brushing a donkey is not something we city folks get to do everyday, so I fully appreciate the effort & resources Irving invests to make the petting farm possible. Kids get a free coloring book too! Check hours & season before going.

Excellent if you have young children/toddlers who may be skittish around animals and dont want to spend a lot of money at the big zoos only to find out that theyre still scared or afraid. This is a small location thats free and you can go at your own pace for your little one to enjoy.

Very fun for all who are adventurous and have the love for animals and children. For this is the Fritz Park Petting Zoo in Irving, Texas and it is free to boot. Do you want your child to have compassion for animals then this is the place to take your toddler to see and touch and smell all the wonders of small farm animals? They have baby rabbits to pet and a duck or two in its very own cute little baby pool. They also have an ohhh so sweet little piggy who really wants attention and is friendly. As well as a turkey in all its feathers and some goats and sheep and even a calf or two. So you see this is a must this summer and many more summers to be free and teach your child to be loving and compassionate to some farm animals.

We go at least once every year. The animals always seem well cared for, and the volunteers are always friendly. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy either on site or at nearby Fritz Park. They have bathrooms but I dont remember if there is a proper changing table for babies.Only downside is its very small. You will have seen everything in under 20 minutes. So if you want to make more of the trip, plan on going to the nearby park/playground or to the local pool less than a mile away.

It is a cute little area to walk around. I took a 1.5 yr old and he enjoyed getting to see the animals and pet some, and most of all run back and forth over the little bridge lol. The only areas you can go into and pet the animals are the ones where they have their staff. They had goats, a bunny, and a donkey available to pet today. They also have a cow, chickens, a turkey, a pony, a duck, and 2 sheep. They had little cups for complimentary water, and has a couple of cute spots to take pictures.
