Absolutely loved this state park. The trails are clearly marked and easy to walk. The beautiful scenery that you will see when your walking through the park is amazing. If indys best place for getting out and enjoying nature. We got to see a hawk hunting, heard woodpeckers and saw beautiful butterflies. The best part was seeing so many people getting out and enjoying the beautiful day with their families and pets. There was a little bit of litter but for the most part this was the cleanest park we have been in. We came upon a observation deck that was built and it offered amazing views of the park. Make finding the cedar log something you go and check out. It was brought to the park in 1976 and at that time it was 420 yrs old. Amazing read the story with it. Visit the bird sanctuary and see the turkey vulture and the other animals and displays. Definitely will make this a regular thing to hike the trails.
Every year we visit here with family. We have a relaxing day with family making wonderful memories. The water is nice, the atmosphere is beautiful. We explore on the boat, but there are so many enjoying it as well. However people are respectful and kind injave never had a bad experience here. Some of the homes off the lake are absolutely gorgeous!
Large park, lots of skill level trails, beautiful scenery and so many things to do. You can rent paddle boats, kayaks, canoes, or bring your own. Theres fishing, nature centers and zip lining ( Go Ape). Great for all ages!!
Started our hike at the Orinthology Center. Through the woods, across the lake, then back to the center. A great hike on well-maintained paths. Weather was perfect. Other hikers were friendly and cheerful. Looking forward to next time.
Eagle Creek is a fantastic park. Great trails. We take our 3 yr old to burn off energy! Also the ornithology center is good spot! This park also holds a special place as this is where I proposed to my wife!
Area of the park is very big it has got shelters, benches, playground, golf ground, fishing spots and variety of bird species.Eagle Creek park is very clean and the paths are well kept.Great way to exercise and visit nature. The park is great for biking and walking. They also have clean restrooms. On a Sunday went along with couple of families. We got an pond side shelter which was awesome. Some people were fishing in the pond. Varieties of birds were visiting the ponds.Had varieties of dishes from each family contributing for the lunch. After the food we took a ride to find a good lawn for the play. Finally we found an greenish evergreen lawn for the volley ball match. There were some elders so they were watching our play and encouraging us.Had a fantastic play as both the teams had varieties of players with skill and without skill.Overall it was very good play.We were able to cover only few portion of the park.Kids will love a lot. This would be an ideal spot for the weekend.A little slice of heaven tucked away on the outer edge of the city.
Really a great time. It was myself (63) and 2 daughters, we rented a paddle boat. 2 hours $42 dollars, we all 3 were able to go out in 1 boat. We talked, reminist watch nature. I will definitely do this again. The staff very kind and knowledgeable.
This park has been added to our list of favorite places to go! Im not outdoorsy, but I loved my hike! Whenever I visit my mother in law in Indianapolis, I will definitely spend some time in the park. I cant wait to visit again this winter.
Eagle Creek Park is a beautiful place to do all kinds of outdoor activities. Hiking, fishing, photography, etc etc. I love it.
This is such a great park. We have been coming here since my kids were really small and now I bring my grandchildren. Love the kayak rental. Lots of hiking trails. There are always cyclists and runners taking advantage of this great space. Dont miss out!
This park is a treasure! Clean, safe, well maintained, great walking trails, beautiful lake, many picnic and gathering areas. You feel like youre up north, but youre still in the city. A wonderful escape for all seasons!
ONE RUDE PARK EMPLOYEE. GREAT PARK. 09/26/2020 11:15 AMEagle Creek is a wonderful park, no complaints there. However, one of their employees could use a talking to. On 09/26/2020, at 11:15am, a park gate attendee on the 71st entrance was extremely rude to my wife when she presented an annual state park pass. She did not know that Eagle Creek was not a state park. The employee was completely rude throughout her whole transaction. Because of this interaction, we will not be returning to Eagle Creek park. Eagle Creek should consider consulting their employees on customer interactions.
Our family did the Go Ape! Zip Lining and let me tell ya it was AMAZING!! We had a blast it was so much fun, definitely was and is a unforgettable memory. I would definitely recommend this place to whomever.
Its a nice park. Its big and a little confusing. I just came to get some pictures. I dont think its worth $6 to go. Just my opinion.
It was a beautiful, quiet setting. Everything appeared clean and well maintained. We had a very large group, but spread out and enjoyed walking around the lake at the bird sanctuary trail.
Absolutely beautiful.I should add some helpful points here. Great cleared and marked trails w plenty of different lengths and views. If you have any interest in birds (or even if you dont) check out the ornithology center! Very cool place w lots of impressive displays and interactive learning! The orni staff are very impressive. They really know their birds. Ask them questions! They love what they do.Ps- Im not into birds at all but a great facility is always nice to visit.
Huge park with 10 miles of hiking. Well-maintained. Will visit again!
Since moving to the Indy area this has always been a great place to unwind and get outdoors. There are tons of activities and things to do, hiking, fishing, biking, GO APE is super fun! Kayaking, canoeing etc. Just a great time Everytime. Very family friendly and usually just a couple bucks to drive into the park.
Great day in the park! Hiking on October 31 was a perfect day.The sun shined for a post card hike in the woods. Well be back.
Eagle Creek Park is a real gem in the Indy area. Wonderful winding trails that were beautiful on this fall day. The photo is of Lilly Lake in the middle of the park.
Hiking in the cold day with friends from church. I like this park. It’s clean and amazing.#Eagle_Creek_Park
The park was crowded, but not so much on the water for kayaking. It was pretty easy to unload and find a spot to park. I would have liked to see a better place to put in my own kayak though. Everything was marked to where we couldnt put our own in near where the rentals were. I get they are running a business and would like people to rent from them, but the whole area is roped off and it was a chore putting in near there.
My first trip here, but I will be back. Beautiful place for hiking trails, so many beautiful views. Trails are very well maintained.
Eagle Creek has so many great activities there is something for everyone! Loved renting kayaks then taking the scenic trail around the bird preservation area.
Best park for hiking locally. $5 for locals $6 for non
If you love hiking, nature, or getting out on the lake than this park is for YOU! Cost is $5 for those who live in Marion county and $6 if you live outside of the county. Recommendations, bring PLENTY of water, some food, and plan to stay for a few hours because there is plenty of hiking, bird watching, nature exploring, and lake / boating activities to do. Parking is at a PREMIUM unless you are ok parking in the interior of the park. I didnt see much in the way of any type of eateries, or any refreshment stands widely available. VERY family and PET friendly!
Great walking trails, and great lake! Its always clean and well kept. Weve rented boats and fished here. You will see some great wild life. Egrets and herons are always about!
I like this park a lot because theres some great hiking trails here, and its one of the biggest city parks in the country. I was actually visiting the place to drop off some old paint at the tox drop near the 71st street gate. This is the designated location for northside Indy residents every first Saturday of the month. The folks who were running the tox drop were very friendly. I suggest you get there early to avoid the afternoon crunch.
What a great park. Really well laid out with nice walking trails. Nice big lake with plenty of beautiful views
Really enjoy the trails for hiking. Fantastic views of the lakes from various vantage points. Kayak and canoe rentals on the lake are fun too. Worth it to swing by if you are in the area.
First time visiting Eagle Creek Park. Lots of trails and room to be in nature. Very busy. Facilities seem well managed and clean. Will definitely visit again when I have more time.
Beautiful gem of a park in Indiana. Great views and really pretty. Would highly recommend a visit!
Beautiful place. The mariana is the best place to take your kayaks and also to go fishing . Lots of shelters all over. There is a beautiful shelter neat Lily Lake that you can reserve ahead of time for events or get togethers
Decent park. However, its dirty from people leaving their fishing containers and beer bottles everywhere. Also as of Sept 21 2020 till Nov 20 2020 it will be closed for construction to install an admission gate, effectively converting it from a free access park into a pay to play park.
Beautiful place to escape from the city without having to drive an hour. Well kept trails and paths for walking and/or biking.
Great hiking trails. Great place for biking as well.
Not too many people. Very nice to walk trails, and the weather was perfect for zip lining, biking, and walking. A good reprieve from the Covid blues.
We love this place! We go as often as possible with our two kids. We primarily hike, but also enjoy the ornithology center and Earth Discovery center. We’ve had birthday parties there (always popular) and many days of homeschool at picnic tables. As our kids get older we look forward to more adventures there!
We love this place. The trails are amazing. We kayak and paddle board out in the water. Fantastic place to go and get some activity in.
Had a great time! Open space! Used the grill. Perfect weather! No issues with other people or wild animals!
2020 has been a rough one. Do yourself a favor -- take a day and unplug at Eagle Creek Park. Breathe. Reflect. Reset.
I love my local park. Trails are either easy or moderate. I wouldnt describe any as rugged. Great for bird watching and relaxing on a trail or two. Rentals are available. Lots of picnic areas and shelters. Support your local park!
Having moved to Indy from cities with closer and more easily accessible state and national parks, its so nice to have this park right around the corner. There are so many little trails here to explore and its so nice to get away from the city for a while. I only wish they had mountain biking trails but otherwise a great place to hang out.
Was on vacation up here in Indiana. This park was a nice get away for a fun day. Spent time hiking down the trails. Time on the creek both kayaking which youre allowed to ho further out in and see more and also time out on the pedal boats. Its nice you can get up to 4 people out on the pedal boat at a time. Expect a work out though if you do. They also offer a pontoon boat rental if you just want to relax out on the lake also they have bike rentals if you wish to pedal around the park. If you are up in Indianapolis this is definitely a place to come see if you enjoy a day outdoors with your family. If Im ever back up there i will go again. Staff is very friendly too. Make sure to tip them...
Great park with fun walking/hiking trails! Eagle Creek Park has plenty of outdoor opportunities to offer and enjoy. Definitely will be planning future trips to come back!
Lots of activities. Beautiful trails. Dont miss it.
Went kayaking with the family here. The prices were good, and the staff followed proper social distancing and safety standards. All in all it was a great time!
A beautiful place to go just for the heck of it. I got kinda lost the first time I was there but I really enjoyed the breath of fresh air that it gives to the city. 10/10 would get lost again.
I love Eagle Creek! From cycling to running to hiking w/ my daughter its a wonderful park.
Great trails close to home.
Beautiful...nature trails..nature walks...fishing and more
Pontoon boat experience was neat! Saw lots of different varieties of birds, peaceful
Took my daughter and little dog to kayak and saw an eagle, turtles and a bunch of birds. The trails are nice and fun to walk through. Went around the bird sanctuary- so beautiful!
Beautiful day, great to be outside, saw Sandhill Cranes on their way to roost!
Took our toddler for the first time. Spent most of our time at the Ornithology Center & walking the Bird Sanctuary loop. Easy to walk, even while carrying a kid. Trails were managed well, plenty of benches to catch your breath or enjoy the peaceful surroundings, & minimal trash spotted on trails or in the water. Cant wait to return & see what adventure awaits us.
Its Always been a Nice park the Water and Trails is a Beautiful view.and Its still amazing to go on Nice days.
Beautifully kept park and super pet friendly! Gosh I love this place, it is such a gem. It does not feel like youre in the middle of Indianapolis, it feels so rural and secluded. I definitely recommend relaxing by the water or walking your furry friends here!
Beautiful, clean, and friendly! We saw plenty of large birds and had a nice hike. Up and down one of the trails (The brown one, which I cant remember the name of). We also had a makeshift picnic by the orinthology center, which was very peaceful. I will definitely come to the park again.
I love this place! Always have a great time when I visit.
I love this place. Only complaint is that the annual pass is based on the calendar year instead of expiring a year from when you buy it.
Eagle Creek is such a beautiful area. Trails are kept up nicely.
First of all, you need to know that this is not a state park, you need to pay entrance or get a yearly pad with them. I tried to get in with the Indians State parks pass and the guy stopped me and told me that I have to pay. I was surprised to hear that. All the camping grounds are ok less the grills. All the grills are in really bad shape, only the ones that are next to a shelter are in good shape, because those make money I guess. The kids playgrounds are in good shape, at least few of them.Overall the park is great but because I cannot use my Indians State Park pass I will not plan to go there.
My happy place! So much beauty. Yall need to go enjoy it.
This park is absolutely beautiful and I will definatly be bringing my family back here many times this spring and summer. Its a great place for walks and just getting outdoors and away from the city life and into nature.
A very wonderful park. I got some good vibes here.
Beautiful, lots of trails, able to separate from groups of people, explore on own, picked up a LOT of litter though
Such a beautiful park! There were tons of birds here, including bald eagles. The walkways were somewhat narrow and either gravel or dirt, so it would be a great place to talk your dog/go for a jog, but not biking/rollerblading. Definitely check it out in the fall of you have the chance!
Great urban place to run on some trails.
Beautiful place. Nice maintained trails. Gorgeous pavilion areas!
Very clean, lots to do here. Hiking biking, off road biking, canoe/kayak/paddle boat rentals. Picnic or cook-out. Extremely large for an in-city park. There is a ropes course and zipline located within the park as well. Could spend a couple of days here easily.
So much beauty and the n things to do. Rent a kayak and have a great time!
Fall colors are in full force reflecting of the lake and snowing leaves on the trails. Indiana beautiful.
Really nice place. I love it.
We love Eagle Creek. So many beautiful trails.
Cant wait to go back!! Such beautiful scenery.
Probably the best park in Indy. Miles and miles of well kept trails good for hiking and running. A true pleasure to visit.
Great place to hike, tree colors are nice right now.
I always love going to Eagle Creek Park. Whether Im jogging or walking the trails with my children.
, excellent place very peaceful everything was very convenient good place to have fun
Everyone was so helpful and friendly. We never had to look for a staff person they were always there to help.
The park was nice. The staff was rudeThe shelter that was reserved was dirty. The bathrooms were locked and the electricity was shut off. The grill had huge holes in it so it couldnt be used. The trashcan at the shelter was already mostly full before we even arrived. Very disappointed especially after having to pay $6 just to enter the park per car after the cost of the reservation for the shelter. Very disappointed. Try to inspect the shelter before you reserve or at least find out if another park has space available.
Great trails, stroller friendly trails, beautiful lake and woods.
Very nice had a great time great day the park looks really good well maintained the restrooms were in good shape will go back again the fishing is really good catch and release which is very good would recommend totally thanks again
Amazing place to be, beautiful landscape and good for hikers... Nature at its best
The park is a nice and beautiful place to visit, but it is clear that the maintenance is really low, fences are destroyed, bathrooms in bad conditions and there are a lot of things that could be improved. Always a good place though.
Beautiful place for hikes, trails or just to admire nature.
Huge reservoir to explore and paddle up the creek! So many things to do its hard to do it all in one day, so I gotta come back!
Nice place, pretty cheap to get in. Grills are a little scared, but are available. Nice kayaking/canoe spot with kayaking/canoe launch.Only reason I didnt give it five stars is because you cant swim but in the designated swim area, we still did anyway.
A treasure for Indianapolis. It has all the amenities of a state park even some national parks. The bird watching is premiere. Theres so many different ways to experience nature here whether by bike canoe hiking. My dog loves it and the hikers love my dog!
We had so much fun. We had a large party so be rented a paddle boat, canoes, and kayaks. The paddle boat was perfect for the smaller kids.
Great place for the family to get out and shake off the stress.
I love this park! In all of Indianapolis area youll not find a better park to enjoy the day with your people at. Great fishing, Ricks boatyard for dinner after hiking the nicely trimmed trails. Nature center, Swimming beach in summertime. If you enjoy knocking around the little white ball, Visit Eagle Creek golf club. 2 Sycamore for the better players and The Pines for you hackers. So plan on a full day and go Rock the Park. This Tony Sullivan See ya next time. Be safe! Always.
Nice place to hang out for a couple hours or the day. Busy boat ramps but well managed.
Today the trails were well maintained with some peaceful views.
I spent a fall holiday in this amazing preserve. Each day a new point of view. Fall colors, water Birds and tree life were perfect nature reflection. Great photography too. Miles of.accessible trails and beautiful interpretive Museum. I enjoyed miles of hiking walking and jogging trails. In addition the Peace Learning Center located on the facility was a treasure and is doing great work for community programs around the nation. Nature, Community, active lifestyle, and preservation/ conservation is a win.
1st time here. Fall Colors were wonderful
After 17 years of living in Indy, I finally went to visit Eagle Creek Park. What a wonderful place to go with the family. Perfect for hiking, fishing, even exercising !I truly enjoyed the visit and I look forward to visiting again!
Beautiful wooded walking trails with nearby lake and several wetlands.
A very gorgeous park. It is very relaxing and peaceful.
