This is a cemetery I would recommend visiting if you’re going to, or passing through, Indianapolis. There is so much to see here. There are so many interesting and old (very old) gravestones. It’s a beautiful property to walk around in.

I love taking a stroll through Crown Hill cemetery whenever I have a chance. It is especially beautiful during the fall months, as all of the leaves are changing colors! I love that you can see the city skyline in the background. Make sure you go up the steep hill to see the city skyline view. You won’t regret it!

On July of last year my husband passed away. He was buried at Crown Hill. I will always appreciate the Staff who helped me and my step daughter put the service together. Sometimes at these moments you don’t always think clearly. But with the help of Jacob Halstead, Megan and Carol everything went smoothly. Jacob went beyond the call of duty. All things were set up beautiful. I can’t say enough how pleased I was with Crown Hill and all the staff. My mind was put at ease with all the help. Thanks to everyone for their support. You have very caring people and beautiful place to be.God Bless!Earlene Steward

Excellent staff and service!!Yoshanda Glazebrooks-Allen is especially responsible for my review as she handled my family with great care and professionalism. She was extremely knowledgeable, caring, patient and responsive. Yoshanda helped us pull our thoughts and ideas together during a very emotional time and turned them into a home going service our loved one dearly deserved. She made all last minute changes efficiently, with a smile and a guiding hand. The Johnson family cant thank Yoshanda and the entire Crown Hill Funeral Home staff enough for the above and beyond service they provided.

Both sides of my family have always done business with Crown Hill Cemetery over the years. But the recent visit for arrangements for my father really stood out. They are absolutely exceptional at what they do. They think of everything and make the process as easy as they can. All of the staff members are phenomenal. I cant say thank you enough for the empathy, professionalism, kindness, patience, and loving nature. All accommodations were met. There is none better in the nation. They are the third largest cemetery in the nation. You would never know that because theyre so modest and treat everyone the exact same regardless of background. If you want to be treated with respect and want the absolute best for your loved ones Crown Hill is the place.

The time that I spent there during a loved ones funeral was met with staff who were ineffectual and inept. When I presented a manager with an issue I was met with an attitude to what I surmise was haste, non-response, and disappearance (because I did not see them for the rest of the visitation and service.) I was then given to a manager higher up and a guy more stuffy and full of words that, words were less spun in Shakespeare then in the response I received (and nothing was still done). The fact that a menial concern was not dealt with leads me to believe that they cannot even do the most simple of task (like the one I was concerned with) without ignoring it immediately. Once at the cemetery the staff there were great and caring including the grave people. Not sure why the two cant align those things so people wont have to be angry to the point of sickness. I would never recommend the funeral home to anyone.

This is a great setting for artists and photographers. Its quiet, scenic, vast. Ive done a few watercolor paintings here, both as student and teacher. The deer population is a charming bonus attraction. Visiting a cemetery is sure to change your perspective, too: nothing lasts forever. Please do take a map or use GPS and tag your parking place. It is deceptively easy to get lost. I have gotten lost many times! Mosquito repellant is a good idea, too, if you plan to be out there for awhile.

The people working in the office were so kind to help me locate a headstone I was looking for. They had photocopied plot maps ready and even went so far as to use their database to identify some of the headstones along the road that could guide my way and marked them on the map for me. They were happy to make small talk and didnt rush me out of the office. The cemetery itself was beautiful and well-kept. None of the headstones I saw were overgrown or had the kind of damage that comes from careless groundskeepers.

I had a mostly awesome experience after the death of my beloved mother two months ago. There were a few hiccups but they have for the most part been resolved. The service and presentation were stunning. Our attendant Vanessa Conley was EXCEPTIONALLY fantastic we love her!!! I would recommend Crown Hill to anyone. The package of mementos and bereavement support information sent home with the family is incredibly useful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Getting the obituary written was absolutely grueling, a much longer process than it should have been... and we even had it written out word for word. Even after such a long process, got home to read and one of our family members names was spelled incorrectly- in addition to several grammatical errors that we finally decided not to address. Please make sure that you are an expert or take one with you to avoid embarrassment. Looked back at others to find they had the same problem... Someone who is writing obits should have an excellent grasp on writing skills.

Would of been 5 but was threatened badly. Also great scenery. Was scared this morning. I visited the cemetey for the first time ever and spent two days exploring. On Sunday morning I wanted to take a relaxing walk through the cemetery and I sat down on the bench behind this statue, to relax for a moment before walking again. As I started to read a few Whitcomb poems before I see his grave, a man came out of the brushes and asked for my name. He as wearing a tshirt and had a bunch of the small American flags. After giving a name, he started trying to scare me by stating that he is in the military and that he worked for the cemetery. Than he started to chew me out for having a phone because that was disrespectful to the people that are buried there. Than he started ranting and raving that the Bible is not real and that the owners of the property are worshippers of the Egyptian gods of old and that it was disrespectful to the people buried there to read the Bible and be a Christians. He proceeds to tell me that Christians should not be in the cemetery. So I watched him walk away and than I started to walk back to the jeep, downhearted. he comes back and, waving his arms, proceeded to tell me that being around anyones grave in that cemetery is disgusting. I had a sinking feeling in my gut as I was pressured to leave because he started to act like he wanted to do bodily harm. I dont usually carry but I wished that I did in that moment, not knowing what he was going to do. He walked away again and I ran to the jeep and got off of the property. I filed a report with the funeral home but havent heard back yet.

I have dealt with better car salespeople. Their lack of responsiveness has cost them at least 6 funeral services, because I and my family will take our business elsewhere. I spent 3 weeks trying to get an answer to my inquiry, only to get the runaround, finally getting an answer to my inquiry. Very unprofessional and undignified, the complete opposite of what you would expect in this industry.
