We love Historic Rural Hill! Our most recent time spent there was for a wedding and it was wonderful as always. The Scottish Highland are AMAZING and so sweet.

We had a great time solving this maze! Lots of fun, though we were lucky with dry conditions. It is an actual corn field, so mud or insects that occur in a field is to be expected. Watch the weather, wear boots, and leave the strollers at home. Pay attention as there is a method to solving this fun maze and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I think this may be for elementary age or older to really enjoy solving the whole puzzle. This isnt a fall farm day with lots of other attractions for little kids, its really just about the maze. They had water and snacks, but if youre looking for full food or multiple attractions this isnt it. Maybe that was just this year...Overall we had a blast and will be back.

We did the night maze yesterday (first time ever being here) & our group of three (1 adult, 2 teens) nailed it in 49 minutes. We navigated our way through the maze using the app for a general idea of where to go but mostly just navigated our way on our own. Make sure to watch the orientation video prior to arrival or you will have to when you check in. If doing the night maze, make sure to bring your OWN flashlight. We did not know this so fortunately we completed the maze before it got completely dark. I wish we didn’t have to carry the oversized, bulky flag you are required to carry to wave in the air if you need help.. but all in all. It was very well put together. Sadly people step on their taped-off areas so you stay on the paths and these areas don’t get taped back up, so you see a lot of people cheat.. which is whatever as we minded our own business & stayed true to the path as we wanted to see how long it would take us to do it the right way. Good luck & enjoy! Nothing is perfect but these people clearly put a lot of effort into this.

This is our third year doing the amazing maize maze and first year doing it at night (bring a flashlight!). My 12yr old son and I like the challenge. If you complete it without cheating, it will take you about two hours. The new app makes it fun to see how your time compares to others. Also, there is a port-a-potty at the back of the maze in case you need it.

Came here in October for the corn maze. We ended up being in the corn maze for over an hour but we enjoyed every second of it. It was a really fun experience since Ive never been in a corn maze before. They even had little puzzles to solve to help unlock parts of the map on an app. If I go back to North Carolina next year I will definitely be going back.

Cheap place to get a little pumpkin. Its nice to see the old structures and take a bit of a walk on a hill for a change and grassy so there is a little view but cant see far just a small grassy area and then of course more of the same forest. Not much to see or do and also since some family still lives on the property you cant walk around much with out walking in their front yard. Place gets really crowded and wonder why because its really not worth the drive out there or the headache of navigating with parking and too many people milling about catching up with their neighbors. Just a one time sort of thing if you even are that despite to find something to do.

My boyfriend and I took his two kids to the corn maze on Saturday, 10/17/20. We didnt get to finish the corn maze because his son cut his leg open on a T post that wasnt in the ground all the way. When he come around the corner his leg swiped against it and slashed it open. We were waving our flag to get help but nobody responded. We finally decided to cut through the corn to get out and one of the employees yelled at us like we were committing a crime. No one offered to help when we told them what happened. They said they would remove the post. I hope they will so no one else will get hurt on it. He ended up getting 7 stitches at a nearby urgent care.

Very disappointed. The maze was cool, could have been more things to do. We brought the kids and we wanted to have fun, not so much. There were piles of fire ants everywhere if you didn’t watch your step you were covered (just like my son was and he had boots on). The lady greeting us was very unprofessional, chirping my husband about not watching the full video when we have two kids under two waiting impatiently. Instead of a video it would take a couple minutes to go over some of the basics in person. When I ask how long the maze will take, I don’t want an answer of 45 min to 3 hrs.

Maybe a Night Maze wasnt for us... but we had fun either way! First #DateNight of 2020!Rural Hill has ALWAYS had fun, yet challenging, Maize Mazes. We were upset that last years corn didnt do so well and were happy to be able to come out this year! Thanks!

I had heard a lot of good things about Rural Hills Corn Maze. Granted 2020 has not been anyone’s year, there weren’t any vendors, any food/beverage items like I’d hoped. They did had a small basket with gas station like refreshments. I bought a nature valley oats and honey bar. No bottled water so bring your own. This maze took my boyfriend and his 12 year old son 3:15 to complete. Yes over 3 hours! (That was without any cut throughs) There was a fall. (In a muddy area). & yes their were fire ant hills. But it’s outside so that’s kind of to be expected. On top of everything a man that worked at the maze gave us what he considered good information, tips if you will. These turned out to literally all be incorrect & felt super frustrating & more like sabotage than help. LOL! Overall we completed the maze, we did it as a family. We have a story. Not the “Amazing Maze” but this year what more can you ask for?Ohhhhh, also my advice is to NOT use their app. It actually made it more difficult.

First off, honest with you that I think place sounds fun...I’m out of town. That’s why I gave you a 5 star. So? I came to run for the Great Pumpkin 5K. Unfortunately, event might not fit there because too many people, heavy traffic, late arrive, not enough potties, grasses way too wet, volunteers/cops not doing their jobs...terrible! Event needs to find new spot area.

This place is beautiful! I took some great pictures. The corn maze was more entertaining than I thought and the pumpkins are so pretty they look fake. The advertisement I saw said the hayride would stop at a barn where you could pet some animals and it didn’t which was my only disappointment. They do serve beer and wine and have snacks which was a plus.

We attended a wedding here on Sunday. The outdoor ceremony was lovely and intimate, and the reception inside was beautiful. The room opened up to an outdoor patio that provided a lot of space for dancing. The food was very good, and the staff was friendly and helpful. My only negative comment is that it was a cool evening, and the AC was on all night, making it quite chilly.

I’ve only ever come here for amazing maize maze in the fall, but I love it! This is my favorite corn maze in the Charlotte area. I love that they have mailboxes scattered throughout the maze for you to collect a piece of the map at so that you aren’t just wandering aimlessly trying to find the exit like you have to do at other mazes. It’s very well coordinated with color zones that correspond to what piece of the map you’re in. I make sure to come every year when my parents come down to visit me. It’s $11 for adults and it usually takes us between 1-2 hours to find all of the pieces of the map and get out. I would highly recommend stopping by to do the maze!

They general location seemed nice, bu the Hops and Hogs Festival was poorly organized. Long waits, couldn’t see the stage, not scanning tickets, poor communication. The camping area was wooded and had electricity and water hook ups. Wires were hanging precariously. Not impossible to have fun, but concert organizers didn’t make it easy.

Maze is great! The music was nice. A really fun challenge, but don’t be surprised if it takes a couple hours. My family took 1hr 45min to finish. Other mazes in the area are just a walk through, but Rural Hill takes some thought to get out. I was impressed how clean it was, especially after the recent storms, was barely muddy at all.

I attended the highland Games event at Rural Hills. They have good parking on flat ground and easy to walk to the event. The booths were spaced out enough for people to mingle without being too crowded. Things are separated so you can enjoy them but not too far away to see when the next event is happening on the other side.

Attended the Hops and Hogs festival and it was terrible. Hard to see the stage because tents were set up too close to the stage. Food truck lines were way too long. The lines from the food trucks all ran into each other because of the configuration. Trucks were running out of everything and crossing items on the menu. Same thing with the beer lines. Many beer tents running out of beer by dinner time. The placement of port a potties too close to the food trucks and seating was not good. Overall, the set up of this event was a disaster. I would not go to an event like this again.
