Worth taking a stroll downtown Honolulu. The Baobab trees were the most interesting attraction.
The Hawaii State Supreme Court is located right behind the King Kamehameha Statue. It is a very impressive building as soon as you walk in through the security station. There are 2 circular staircases to choose from that lead to the second floor where the Supreme Court is located. You may also recognize it from the TV series, Hawaii Five-O.
Fun little piece of Hawaii history. We came on a Sunday so most of the places was closed. Come early though if you want to get some good photos as it gets crowded quickly. The Palace is across the street.
A lot of tourists. Its been a while since Ive seen marble floors. The place is clean considering the amount of tourists it receives on the daily. The green is lush, and there are metered parking stalls. Be careful and watch where youre going tho.....some drivers might not be paying too careful an attention so the pedestrian has to be alert, even if technically, you have the right of way on crosswalks. Be smart. 0
Prestine, the entire block,u shud go n look for urself
Cant wait to visit
You can take a nice walk inside the building too. Also grab a hotdog from the cart outside
Love your statue, Abby! Nice work. It’s been a while since I’ve visited Hawaii, or had any tropical vacation for that matter, but I do recall visiting this lovely statue a few years ago and it’s enjoyable.
I rented a bicycle. Easy ride from Waikiki. There are bike paths available and drivers are respectful of cyclists for the most part. Just be careful and responsible. Also easily accesible by public transportation and tourist trollies. The statue itself is a great ode to Hawaiian history and culture. The palace is now a government building. The state capitol is just across the street. Tours of the Queens palace are available. The financial district is nearby. Not too many restaurants or shopping nearby though.
Bueatiful alive, vibrant historical landmark. A very pleasant sight to see in all light of day or night or in any season or weather. A must see, and a must frequent visit as you travel anywhere in town.
Often bedecked with colorful leis, the statue of King Kamehameha stands tall in a circular memorial garden. He is remembered for unifying the Hawaiian Islands under one monarchy.
Wonderful to take some time to learn about hawaiian history
Fitting memory of the great man. Perfect location especially at sunset, very popular area. Great work Abby ;)
TIP: Go on the morning for best lighting. The late afternoon has the sun behind the statue.
Hey, Abbey! I love what you are doing with the statue—looks great! Sincerely, a nerd fighter.
Very nice statue and background building very fits to it
Ive never seen this statue, but it deserves 5 stars! It look so cool. Great statue Abby.
There is some history associated I guess. We definitely wouldn’t have been here if not for our tourist package.
Beautiful place for photos
This statue changed my life. Beautiful. Simply inspiring. Thank you, Abby!
Hi Abbey! Great statue. Truly one of the best works of the Anthropocene. I give the king Kamehameha statue five stars.
The history of King Kamehameha is interesting. This is the statue and building featured as headquarters for the Hawaii 5-0 tv series. Also, the Batman trees in the parking lot to the left are impressive.
Hello Abby hope youre are doing well. Great Statue love the flowers.
Very informative video that has both original Japanese and American footage of the event with a great naritive that explained the attack including the context that led up to it.The trip to the Arizona was touching.
Its a lovely Palace and its free to the public! Also you can take a tour, which obviously isnt free.
Uhh its a statute of a king. Im sure there is some cool history behind it. If you want to see it for the sake of seeing it then sure. Unless youre really into the history behind it, I would say its not really worth it... You might spend like 2 seconds by it.There are way better and less touristy things to see!
Nice park! There are small educational readings about the history of the king an the island.
A beautiful place to visit while youre in Hawaii
Abby, your statue is absolutely lovely. Enjoy this five star review and keep on keeping on
One of many sights I saw on my Hawaii trip in September 2018.
Visited the statue on Kamehameha Day. Wonderful ceremony! You can learn even more about King Kamehameha at the Fort DeRussy museum.
Hey Abby, I like your statue. It looks just like you.
Its a beautiful statue and I hope I get to see it in person one day. Thanks Abby for letting us know!
Easily the best statue I have never seen.
A mandatory stop for tourists, a good place to start off any historical tour of hawaii. The statue is a very good piece too.
Hello, this is Hank, Im just checking to see if you get this. Great statue, btw! Top notch. This is your monkey.
Dear AbbyI hope you are having a great day.Your statue is awesome.Best wishes from Free Town Christiania, Denmark.DFTBA
Fabulous. The groundskeeper is awesome and has great taste in podcasts. Also some incredible history there.
Because of what King Kamehameha meant to the Hawaiian people & my son since a very young age had always revered this place & he was with me yesterday.
Wonderful nature and people
Beautiful statue of the first King to unite the Hawaiian islands. Read the plaques around the perimeter, to find out more of his reign.Located across the street from the Iolani Palace.
Its a statue, what more is there to say? The area it is in had pretty cool historic architecture.
Our tour bus took us there today.we stopped for 15 minutes to take photos.there is a vendor who sells ice cream, hot dogs and drinks there to all the tourist bus.you are not allowed to walk on the grass.
Fun stop.
I have been here two times and both times were lovely.both times it rained and yet the statue was glowing.
Very good statue yes thank u big fan
Very beautiful statue, Abby! Youre doing a great job! Pumkins and Penguins, Jessie (DFTBA!)
Good place to get some photos taken. Very popular spot so be ready to share the space with plenty of other tourist
Nice statue, what else is there to say about it?
It is just another statue and as far as I can figure the only reason that our tour bus stopped there was because the statue was featured in the original intro to Hawaii 50. It was interesting enough but our time could have been better spent
Beautiful, stunning, a must seem so much history to be learned. If you ever want to learn the history of this magical island, you should definitely go see this place!! The people are all so kind and informative. Very eager to share their knowledge. I could go to this place over and over again. As I feel theres just too much to see and learn in one trip! Dont get me wrong, its amazing. So definitely try to make this one of your to do things when you come.
Go inside for the free exhibits. Thank you for providing great history.
Visited this statue and took a few photos. Nice shaded area with the banyan trees.
Hey Abb(y)(ie), tho it’s not your statue I just want you to know that it’s a really great statue. I hope you’re well! DFTBA
Well there is the statue you see on Hawaii five O. Historic museum in the building too free.
Great statue! Whoever is in charge of it should be very proud. DFTBA!
Hank Green made me curious about this statue, truly a very statuey statue.
Beautiful, regal, and elegant gold encrusted statute of the great history making Hawaiian royal and warrior!
Definitely an iconic place to come and check out while you are in Honolulu. We came through from our Pearl Harbor tour. It was drizzling but nevertheless such a beautiful place full of history to check out. And across the street from the palace.
Wonderful! lovely atmosphere and sceneryThis is your monkey 100%
Across the street from the Iolani Palace. Beautiful grounds. Not that busy as most people take pictures and never read the information plaques explaining how the Kingdom of Hawaii was formed or how it was stolen by force with the full knowledge and assistance of the U.S. government. Nice pictures tho.
Its absolutely perfect in every way. 10/10. Thanks Abby!
Its so gorgeous! Saturday is the best time to visit. Theres hardly anyone around, lots of parking and zero traffic. Saturday would also be a good day to do a walking tour of downtown.
Got to love this GUY!!! Anyways always give thanks to the main man big Kam!!!Aloha Aina / Aloha Kai
If you have the opportunity to go on King Kamehameha Day, it’s especially beautiful!
Because when I was a kid, Hawaii 50 showed this statue on the TV was in black and white I did not realize the statue had any color other than bronze until I arrived on site to see that it for myself. So it is interesting to see something that was part of the lore and history of the Islands. The area around the statue is featured at times in the new TV show today.
Not much to do around there. There is a guy with great Hotdogs on the corner though :)
Beautiful statue outside of the Hawaii state supreme court. They have a great and informative exhibit about the political and judicial history of the state inside. Good place to visit with the whole family.
I love the history of our island king kamehameha was a great warrior .
The best King Kamehameha statue in the whole world! Nothing could be improved.
Lovely iconic statue in downtown Honolulu. Located just across the street from Iolani Palace, come see this lovely tribute to Hawaii’s monarch.
Nice place to visit. Beautiful statue, not so nice history! It is actually in front of the Hawaii State Supreme Court Building, not the headquarters of the famous 5-O! 5-O is right next door.
Its a statue. Nothing outstanding about it. Theres not alot of information that I have seen readily available about the history which is a bit of a shame.
Beautiful but right on the main street. Definitely a site to stop and see though.
Glad to see it during holiday season along with Honolulu lights and the palace across the street
The area with the King Kamehameha statue, Iolani and State Capitol is a very well kept and I am happy I came here. This is where Honolulu gets busy and it feels like the economic and cultural heart of the city. Would recommend.
Great history. Loved seeing the model of Hawaii prior to all the major buildings & hotels.
Best hot dogs I’ve ever eaten.
What a nice tribute to the historical monarchy of Hawaii. The statue was beautiful. Be sure to get a hot dog from the vendor on the corner.
A pretty impressive statue and worth a look if you’re in the area.
The whole visit was great. We learned allot before visiting the statue but the were trip was well worth it.
Go with a tour guide so you can learn more about Hawaii.
The bronze statue is golden shining when seen from the back.
