This hike is worth it. The dirt path to the right leads to Peles chair. The path easily leads down hill to a beach. There is a split to the left that leads to a water run off path that leads up to the chair. We missed it and had to cut through a grass foot path. There are a few plants that will want to snag you on the way and thorns that can pierce a shoe sole. But the view is gorgeous, the wind is refreshing, and the chair is spectacular. However, you cannot see the front of the chair very well from here. My guess is it is better viewed from the rocks to the left of the beach or a far, such as a boat or the from the top if Kokohead.
It is easy to get to. Just go to the start of the Makapuu Lighthouse Hike. Once your their there is a turnoff the trail to the right. There is more than one turnoff so look on the sign to make sure you go on the right one. The end of the trail is a beach but Peles chair is on the hill to your left. Their are many trails that go off to the chair. The beach their is small and is okay for snorkeling. I personally enjoyed this hike and I hope you do too.
Illegal campers, illegal bonfires and trash left all over beach, so sad to see such disrespect for the environment from locals, since there are very few tourists who would drag a pallet to the beach and burn it
Great place to relax and enjoy the view
Great walk to the chair. Nice little beach trip relax at. Not much shade.
Great Sunday afternoon walk! Anyone can do it even little kids. You could push a wheelchair if youre strong enough! Everyone is chill and its a nice quiet time for all....great value....its free!Still a great time...see the lighthouse, see the view...see Lanai and Molokai...and Maui...
Amazing ocean and land views
Great walk, wonderful place to take ocean wave photos
This place was another good, short and easy hike. Good for kids too. Just dont follow the path less traveled.
Great hike for everyone. The path is paved and the incline is not excessive. Visitors of all ages can do this hike and enjoy the view of the surrounding scenery
Not for those afraid of hight
Short, easy hike for some pretty views. Small sandy with a couple small (likely man made) rock pools within the lagoon. Only 2 other people when u went, which meant I had one small pool to relax in for myself. Peles chair itself was beautiful, but I saw it, took a pic, and was ready to move on. Still, interesting enough, especially since there doesnt seem to be as much lava rock in general on Oahu. Also convenient that the Makapuu lighthouse trail starts from the same parking lot. Parking is free, though limited. So short rewarding hikes in one spot.
The view is amazing and the water is just right you can take a little dive and see a few waves
A volcanic formation that resembles a throne and it is believed to be the last place where the goddess sat before departing the island of Oahu. The hike is about a mile. The energy is incredible over here.
Nice view of the east side. You can see Sandys beach from here and the hike is beautiful. Paved path so you can walk easily.
The view is simply breath taking one of the most beautiful places Ive ever been if you ever get the chance to visit i really recommend that you come here you wont be disappointed theres even dolphins it was just a breath taking experience
Beautiful sunrise spot
Short trail that ends with a nice little beach area, not too crowded and beautiful views
Beautiful scenery
It is a beautiful and sacred place. 10 min walk from parking lot.
Start the climb as you are facing the ocean then halfway up go to the front of the chair and climb the second half facing mauka.
Short hike for a good view. There is also a small beach nearby
