You have to know what youre looking for to appreciate Dinosaur Footprints. There arent many of them and although there are two kinds, only one variety is really discernible. For non-science geeks (like me) what was more enjoyable was to venture farther down the path and enjoy the shore line of the Connecticut River. On the day we went, colors were at their peak and the sun glinting off the water was beautiful.

The parking lot is tiny. So if you are lucky to find a spot youll be able to enjoy the dinosaur footprints ! There are so cool! Its interesting and fun for all ages. If you are in that area its worth it.

Great slice of prehistoric history, but dont expect more than 10 to 15 minutes of interest with kids.

Small parking area but got a spot, others did not. Just a short walk to the footprints. That too is small but very interesting to know how old it is. Water nearby (across the tracks) is clean and has a nice view. Worth the short stop if I the area.

It is definitely cool to see dino prints. And if you miss them some of the people visiting thought it was a good idea to circle them in chalk. And then outline them in chalk. And write things in chalk. The signs are all weathered beyond comprehension and the entire scene is reminiscent of a fallout video game. There are train tracks to play on if you get bored marveling at the 4 footprints.Disclaimer: def do not play on the RR tracks.

Its a cute little place right off the side of the road, but the website over hypes it and makes it seem like a hike when it definitely isnt. The tracks can be seen right at the bottom of the hill, and there arent any other trails to follow as the site indicated.

Love the dinosaur footprints. If youve never seen this, you should definitely go and check it out and bring your kids. This is a big slab of rock with actual dinosaur footprints embedded in it. Apparently it was mud when the dinosaurs were here and later turned into slate. You can actually walk in the footprints where dinosaurs walked. The only other dinosaur footprints Ive ever seen were in a museum.

A really neat little place to visit some prehistoric fossil feet! You can also enjoy a beautiful view of the Connecticut River from the rocks. The path is a little steep, but my parents are in their 70s and managed to make it down and back!

Super easy to get to just a short walk from the parking area. Bring bug spray cause theyre located in a wooded area close to water. If you are bringing children be aware it is very close to active train tracks and it is illegal to walk on them.

Great place for kids to observe real dinosaur footprints. Also a great place for couples to cuddle up on the rock beside the river and share a picnic together. But please be respectful to nature and always carry out what you bring in. Other than that, its a bit small and not a place to spend all day, but you can certainly spend a couple hours depending on what youre doing.

Cool gem to discover! I agree with other reviewers that it is set up as a rest stop as far as parking but just a quick downhill walk to dino footprints! My 5yr old dino fan loved it

Jo
Review №31

Its very easy to access! Watch out for those slippery rocks they are deceptive. Other than its an awesome learning experience and not far from the log cabin where I suggest you park and follow the power lines to the summit it should only take a half hour to the tallest point in the pioneer valley

This is absolutely fascinating to be able to see real dinosaur footprints in person so close to home! I can barely imagine how large something would have to be to have footprints like this, but Im guessing it was close to the size of an elephant! I love that this is right on the river, its beautiful and there is free parking so it encourages people to come here! I would recommend this spot to anyone who is willing to make the trip, I wasnt disappointed!

We didnt know what to expect. And we were pleasantly surprised. Its mind blowing to see the real dino footprints. Our two year old had fun as well as us parents. It was worth the 20 min drive from Springfield. We spent there about 20/30 min enjoying the fall colors too.

This place is easy to find with a clearly marked parking lot for about 7 cars. I was expecting more but it was really neat to see. Maybe a map of the rocm to help you spot the fossils? Signs tell you of high incidences of car break ins so plan accordingly. Took us 10 minutes start to finish.

Really neat place to visit but be sure to watch your children closely: the 7-car lot is along route 5 and is set up like a rest stop, cars zip through there. The footprints are beyond the lot lower than the road. There is an unpaved path that is fairly steep that leads to the prints. A fork in the path gives passage to the footprints and a railroad track/river. A train came through as we walked by; it was very loud. The footprints are set on huge rock slabs that you walk on. The surface is on a hill and is steep and slippery when wet. Bring bug spray and plenty of water. Oh yeah- sandals/flipflops are not a good idea; Wear sneakers.

Its more a novelty than an attraction. Not a large area of tracks. Parking is very limited, but understandable given how much there is to see. Can be done in a quick visit, ~30 min

Jo
Review №70

Would be nice if the information on the Google page included that its closed for the winter. It said it was open until 6pm today and we showed up to barricades blocking the pull-out for parking. Was really looking forward to seeing the footprints while we were here from FL. ️

C
Review №71

It was okay. They need to show an example of the foot print that you are looking for because it is hard to determine what is a footprint and what is just a change in the rock. The large footprints are easy to spot, but finding the medium and small is almost impossible.

Review №76

This is a very authentic experience. Just a little signage. You have to be a good detective to spot the tracks, but that is part of the fun and charm. It would probably be helpful to do a little advanced research to be aware of what to look for. Its not a museum or tourist stop. More like a tiny hike.

I almost could not believe my eyes! The largest of these footprints are huge (about one foot long) and well defined. They were left by an early ancestor to the famous Tyrannosaurus Rex! The fact that there are multiple tracks and they all go in the same direction suggests the presence of herd-like dinosaur formation! This is a must see, even if just to stretch your legs.
