Great place for kids and adults to explore science! They also have a variety of animals that they take care of and have show and tell with them where they talk about the animals and you can pet or hold some of them. I have 2 girls, 10 and 4, and they both has so much fun there exploring and learning about science. They also have classes you can sign your kids up for, but we didnt get to see those rooms while we were there, but definitely sounded like it would be fun to take any of them.

I’m really glad that a place like this is around here. It’s nice to just visit the facility but they also have many events and classes geared toward homeschool kids and school kids. So varying hours. The animals at the facility are very well taken care of and happy. Everything seems really clean and the staff is very nice. Deal on admission on Fridays

The Emerald Cost Science center is currently in a different location from when I was growing up bringing, in my personal opinion, both pros and cons. The new space is much bigger than the original building in downtown Fort Walton. Beach, but now most of the “science” activities are located in one large room which in all honesty makes it feel more DIY than MIT, if you know what I mean. Also the pricing is outrageous for what the center offers. Out toddlers were “done” about 15 minutes into our visit, which for $18 per toddler/parent was pretty annoying. Also the center is only open Wednesday-Saturday 10-4 which is just so very limiting for families.I have to say: I miss the old science center!!

My family and I were here for about 45 mins and were very disappointed and about to leave. It was $10 a person, shady, not a lot of things to do, very small. What saved our experience was; an employee came out and showed us some animals. She fed a snake in front of us, got some small animals out (lizards and some sugar gliders) and let us pet them and gave us some fun facts/knowledge. I wouldn’t recommend going because they don’t have regular times when someone would show the animals. I think we just got lucky. Not worth it to chance it to be honest.

This place is FANTASTIC! To find such a jewel where I grew up and my kids enjoy was a pleasant surprise. This place has so much to do that you will be busy for hours. It is a well run center with great staff. Highly recommend for anyone 10 and under, but still fun for teens. Keep up the good work.

My kids had SO much fun here. We played with Legos and all kinds of blocks and building tools. Everything was hands on and not too hard for my 6/4 yr olds. The employee/volunteer came over to the reptile room while we were looking and brought out most of the animals for the kids to touch and hold, that was awesome. Theres also a play ground across the parking lot. And we played over there too.

The pictures online are really misleading, almost every attraction inside is broken and the outside exhibits look like they havent been touched in months, maybe even years. I paid $28 for three people, two adults and one kid. They had plenty of people there, so it isnt like theyre not making enough money for upkeep. I was really excited to check this place out, its unfortunate that it was such a massive rip off.

Quite a lot of activities for the kids, packed into a small venue. STEM learning oriented, with small animals to learn about and touch.Several snakes, birds, hedgehogs, Guinea pigs, bearded dragons, sugar gliders, and a tarantula are all on display. They have several different activity rooms, and plenty of staff circulating to facilitate the activities. The main room had lots of science oriented learning stations. You can drive a robotic arm, an underwater camera, or build using legos, or several other building sets.$10-adults$8-kidsOr go on $5 FridayWell worth a stop in.

Great place for kids that are willing to learn and take their time with things. Multiple rooms with different things to do. Think its a high rate admission for adults. One complaint is when we got there - the front desk lady was on the phone for 10+ minutes. She didnt say ill be with you shortly or even acknowledge we were there. The staff didnt interact with any of the kids or even get off her chair the 2+ hours we were there. Also some of the activity centers and IPads were not up & running. We wouldnt know that though prior since the front desk lady couldnt say more than 4 words.

I was really disappointed with the care of some of the animals in this place. The blue and gold macaw looked as if shed been picking her own feathers off and her cage is way too small. One of the leopard geckos, Claire, is in a totally inappropriate enclosure, and looks very thin and sickly. The dirt in one of the crested gecko enclosures was full of dead superworms and mealworms. The interactive exhibits seemed fine, but Im utterly disgusted with the lackluster animal care.

Great activity for the kids. I was surprised at the size of the center. I was expecting something much larger from the build up on there website. At first i thought this is going to last for 30 minutes and be a waiste of money. After about 10 min the kids settled in and started exploring the activities more. We ended up having to leave two and a half hours later and the kida did not want to leave. They even aaked if we could come back the next day. We have two boys 7 and 12. There were probably three other families at the center when we were there so it was not to busy, it was a hot day late afternoon.

Really neat place. Many interactive activities and plenty of live animals. My kids (3, 5, 6) and I had a wonderful time exploring and learning together. We went in the afternoon which was excellent luck because there had been two field trip groups in the morning that we passed on the way in but then we had the whole place to ourselves for quite awhile! Staff was very friendly and greeted us quite early in our visit to welcome us (in addition to the young women who welcomed us and gave us pointers for navigation at admission). She was very knowledgeable and interacted well with the kids. Later in our visit she invited guests in to handle several of the animals. It was great and were looking forward to returning soon to purchase a family membership.
