Very interesting and informative! Staff is nice. Artifacts are amazing!
Very informative and wonderful that history is preserved for all to see. The displays of reconstructed clay pots and the meaning of their designs was one of the best Ive seen. The gentleman at the old school had many facts to share.
The mound is very interesting and the artifacts in the museum are beautifully displayed with lots of information. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff! Cant beat the admission price of $5 or just $4.50 for seniors!
We loved the Native American Exhibit and the temple mound. It was unfortunate when we went into the one room schoolhouse that the guide had to bring up current politics references. It seemed that she never visited nor appreciated the impact that native Americans had on the country.
Closed?!?!?! If I could give it zero stars, I would!!We came over 800 miles, looking forward to the visit, as we are both Native American. Called on Wednesday to confirm hours of operation. Checked Facebook on Thursday, AND checked their website.Friday, we git a sitter for the kids, and drove over 30 minutes from our rental to arrive to a paper sign saying they were closed for staff training! The employee I spoke with on Wednesday said NOTHING about being closed on Friday. The website says NOTHING about being closed on Friday. When I called the museum, (standing outside the locked entrance)the recording informs me they are in fact open today, as I stand here. Facebook page says NOTHING about being closed today.I realize training sessions are necessary, but, let people know! Very, very aggravating!!!!
All respect to Native Mound Culture! the world needs more o their knowledge to help us live and love de earth inna sustainably mojo manner!
I enjoyed the many artifacts and exhibits inside the building. I was expecting to see a larger mounds area though. Also the other 2 museums (schoolhouse is one of them) doesnt open til 1pm but we didnt have to pay again, which was great.
Love this place. The museum has a lot of information and exhibits. I went up to the mound and found a quiet bench. I just relaxed and closed my eyes. The city noise melted away. A peaceful calm came over me as I listened to the birds and looked at the flowers and enjoyed the day. You can feel the history of the mound and all the people who lived and died there. Its a truly amazing place.
One-room schoolhouse was fun to see. Lots of of the period artifacts, and some books, etc, that belonged to the students. Small post office and a Civil War diorama.
Definitely the best Native American museum in the Panhandle with plenty of finds and historical information. It has a certain feel about it like you really are at a sacred place.
Great learning experience for all ages at a great price.
If you are of Native American descent, going to the top of the mound will be quite an experience for you! The powerful embrace of the ancestors is truly present.
It was amazing! I was just there yesterday. And I loved the schoolhouse!!
I hate that they had to take down the main sign over the entrance but it is what it is. The place has been here my entire life in FWB and if youve not been and you say you like this place then you need to get your butt down there and check it out!Local history is extremely interesting, and important for locals and tourist to know and respect.
Not what you expect, was super confused cause we thought we were going to look at the huge mound with a building but its closed off and you cant get to it even though a sign says you can at a certain time. The coolest part was the schoolhouse but couldnt stay very long in the tents out back of the post office etc cause no a/c so mom and I just took pics quick of the big info murals to read later lol Not quite worth it but still kind of cool I guess
My son and I enjoyed this. Not very big but housed some nice pieces.
Love this place
