Great for the entire family. Full of life with bald eagles, blue herons, otters, sea lions, and much more.
Saw some beautiful views and lots of birds but the park has seen no maintenance in years. Use to be a great loop but now most of the trails are overgrown. Hard to go further than 1/2 mile from the bridge to the island. Hope the county or city cleans up the trails. Also lots of dog poop around the trail head and needles around the toilet. Wont be back till I hear it has been cleaned up.
This is one of those places I love taking my sheepdog to, because we get plenty of exercise, & its easy to avoid people. Most times, anyway. For me, its close to home, birds (I saw a couple hawks today), & far enough to feel away from city. Theres a long paved path that makes a loop and a few unmanucured paths, all fairly easy to cruise around on. But please... DONT GO THERE! lol. ; l
Theres some great potential here between the wetlands and rivers. However, this park has obviously been neglected. The north trail is being overtaken by blackberry and provides little water access other than bushing through wetlands. The south trail is also being overgrown. Parts of it are little more than a scratch in the ground.Maps shows a trail to the NE. It is completely overgrown and gone. I worry the same may happen to this park if it is not paid attention soon.
Nice park but could use some maintenance. You park about 1/2 mile from the bridge
Nice place for a quiet walk. Ive been coming here for years, and its always clean and safe. Great for the entire family. Full of life with bald eagles, blue herons, otters, sea lions, and much more. Excellent kayaking spot. There is a launch for kayaks because its the home of the Everett rowing club. The paved trail from langus river front park to the bridge and back is about 3.2 miles. Perfect for a one hour walk at a easy pace. Its a bit hard to find from the freeway, but well worth it.
The trails on Spencer Island proper can get overgrown, but wildlife viewing can be great. Species vary with seasons, but birding is always great.
Nice park but unfortunately there are some annoying regulars who go there and think they own the place.
Welcome to Spencer Island County Park.Located in North Everett along the Snohomish Riverand Union Slough. This is a beautiful multi-use park.Despite any negative reviews from tourists this is a well visited and loved County Park well worth the effort if you enjoy wildlife. Its probably not too exciting if you do not enjoy wildlife and yes there is a water treatment plant on Smith Island, but that is not part of Spencer Island!Tons of birds Winter over on their travels and it makesfor a great day of bird watching and for fantastic viewsof the sunrise over the Cascade mountains East of the park.Well maintained trails allow users easy access. Its not handicap or wheelchair friendly.Hunters, bicycles and dogs are prohibited on the Southside of the islands waterways. In Winter-hunting is allowed for ducks but only on theNorth Side of the bridge and in posted areas only. This is a fantastic place to explore!A must see for the Everett area.Beautiful reflections over the waters can be seen45 minutes prior to sunrise and of course asthe sun sets. The access trail along the chain link fenceby the treatment plant on the North sidefollows the dike on Union Slough.Great sunrise shots from this isolated part of Smith Island.Watch for deer, rabbits, fox, mink, otters, weasels and ferrets.Lots of Butterflies in the Summer! It is a wetland sanctuary so although it looks like a swampbut if one looks closer, there is an abundance of wildlife and natural beauty at ones feet.
Sweet little path near the river to walk on. The island is marsh like in the winter months but will be full of life in the late spring and summer. Fun for a quick walk and fresh air
Nice place to go for a walk and get some air. Not a whole lot to see though, but there are some redwing blackbirds and swallows to watch fly around.
Nice park and close to town! Only negative is it is right next to the water treatment facility. Possible it could be a little odorous during certain times of year. Other than that, really nice for some light exercise outdoors!
Love it.. nice and peaceful..
Ive been here on foot and also by kayak. This is a nice place to visit and take a stroll but it is not very accessible by kayak. We would have loved to get out and spend some time in the park but could not leave the water without a suitable landing spot.
The walk is overgrown and there are bugs everywhere. But its a beautiful area, the land is very lush with greenery and there is a large array of different plants to check out. And so many bunnies!!! We saw about 3 today while we walked it. Bring some bug spray and long pants youll be good!
Great place to pick blackberries on the mid-island trail. Dont go on the southern loop of the trail unless you bring a machete. The vegetation and thorns are thick. County needs to do some heavy trimming to make it passable.
Few people, couple good trails terrain is uneven but great escape during these isolation times
Good nature hike trails all over the place. Lots of blackberries to be picked when in season. Just today, my son & I took our machetes & cleared an old trail that led down to some observation points where the trail Vs, so enjoy everyone!!! It does have a foul smell but that is from the swamp and the oil runoff from when it used to be used as a transportation river back in the day.
North trail was overgrown, had to turn back. South trail was overgrown, had to trun back. The City of Everett needs to clear the Trails.
Trailhead is 1/2 mile from the parking lot. Lots of unleashed dogs. Nice views and flat.
Pretty nice trails although some after the bridge are a bit uneven. Nice place to see some birds; eagles, hawks, and herons.
Its great place to go for walking
Very fun island to kayak around. Make sure you time the tides right, or youll be walking a decent distance, also ne careful around the south side of the island, or youll risk getting pulled into the Snohomish river. On the east side there were a whole bunch of decrepit abandobed steamboats, which in addition to the seal following me made for a great kayak trip.
Beautiful. Two bald eagles in one tree and two golden eagles in tree right next to bald eagles. Wow
It is a sewage treatment effluent disposal basin disguised as a park. The whole journey through the park you will have to put up with the smell of rotten egg and hint of ammonia. This is in the middle of winter and I have a cold so I cannot imagine what summer would be like. There are aeration bubbling stations on the way into the park and I don’t think it is good to inhale the air full of water droplets.
This park is so serene. We saw a couple eagles and lots of other beautiful birds. I highly recommend for individuals, couples, and families who want to explore for an hour or three. You can walk a loop or two and/or hang out and have lunch while looking at nice views. Dont forget the bug spray or protective clothing if you want to walk back thru the marsh area. If you make the adventure youll get to see a sunken ship.
Can be buggy especially when removing sludge from treatment tanks
Beautiful views but a strong smell of sewage
Very picturesque, but overwhelmingly stinky!
Not heavily advertised as a walking spot, or a spot for great scenery, but I guess thats a rule. That Im breaking. Go to this place, especially during berry season. Yes, those Himalayan blackberries really are the scourge of the Northwest and they really did take over everything, but on Spencer Island, they are good enough to take home, wash, and eat. They grow in abundance and theyre amazing. Make some pancakes or something.
Cool place, little creepy at first (parking). But once you get on the trail its a great walk. Wear mud shoes!
Mostly flat trail. In most sections a reasonable width; though, it does get tight in a few spaces. Good views. There is a porta potty near the start of the trails.
Bridge deserves 5 stars for character - beautiful!! Park is okay, rock/paved trails. Not so great if wind blowing water treatment plant air...
Lots of trails to walk on. Trails arent too difficult, but in some places they are really overgrown. Some of the trails are really overgrown some you cant get to some of the boardwalk sections. Also you have yo park like 1/2 mile from entrance and walk in on a gravel road
Great place to go for a walk
Really beautiful. Just be careful as part of the trail is close to falling into the river. City put cones by it.
Best place to take our pups
Great place to eat Wendys for lunch then jam on the guitar
Nice walk over there the other day. The dog attempted to pee on literally everything in the rang the 4 lead would allow. Other than the smell from the H2o treatment facility it was good.
No dogs allowed on the south end of the island. This seems strange since its a wetlands area. The main trail is dirt and rock and is not maintained very well. Lots of tall weeds and blackberry bushes encroaching on to the path. Although it is pretty and not crowded. A great place for bird watching. Bring binoculars.
Flat trail along the water, industrial scenery but watch out for the thorn bushes if you are going to the north end of the island !!
Gorgeous little wetland!
Clean and no undesirables
Great urban nature trail. It is getting overgrown as you head around the east end spur thru the marsh.
A park with few trails some of which are overgrown. Might be worthwhile when waterfowl are there although hunting is allowed on the north end of the island.
Great park with tons of wildlife to gawk at!
My wife and I have been walking this trail for about 5 years now. What used to be an enjoyable walk has turned into an unfavorable place to visit. Our last visit was on 6/9/19. The trails are so over grown with vegetation that you cannot walk the full loop. Despite signs posted that bikes and dogs are prohibited on Spencer Island people constantly ignore this along with parking vehicles down by the bridge which is not allowed. If you do walk there watch you step because some dog owners choose not to pick up after their pets.
A beautiful park close to Everett. Lots of birds to be seen. Mostly level and easy to walk.
I would give this park a higher rating, except that you cannot park near the entrance. I dont mind a walk, but the only place to park is fairly secluded which means its easy for people to break into your car unnoticed, and it looks like that happens fairly often since the small parking lot was absolutely covered in broken auto glass. I couldnt really enjoy my time at this park solely because I was worried about my car being broken into (I was lucky and my car was fine). The trails themselves were nice, mostly paved, and I enjoyed the views and birds. It is also next to a water treatment plant, which I can imagine could get rather pungent, although I did not smell it on my trip. I think that if the parking situation was improved this could be a wonderful park that I would visit often.
Very beautiful walk or run and safe for my wife and puppies
Very nice chill spot.
As other reviews say, it’s become overgrown. Still beautiful, but a bit sad
Awesome place to kayak. Best time high tide.
I think theyre trying to keep people out. At best you have to park a couple miles away, on the other side of the water treatment facility (little bit of a smell on a hot summer day). Maybe its a nice park if you can get to it. I hope the tax payers arent being charged to keep this open.
Its great wet lands to hike around in
Spencer Island Park is a beautiful location to observe the wildlife and to get away from the city.
Nice walk/ride when no mosquitos are out..
Just a nice trail to walk. Includes port o potty.
I run it all the time. I love it! Say hi to Morty the seal of hes swimming around the sloughs
Love this place. Great place to walk the pup. Normally walk the southern loop, takes about 35 mins. Bring bug spray! Views of the slough are great when the tide is out or in. Normally dont see any other patrions. No parking near the entrance bridge. Parking lot is just up the gravel road from the entrance a bit maybe a quarter of a mile, on the right, cant miss is.
Great spot to paddle, calm water and lots of wildlife to see.
It was a nice trail just not very scenic. Lots of mud. Might be nicer to see if we came at high tide.
We love bicycling and bird watching here.
I normally really like this park for the beautiful and leisurly walk, and would normally rate it higher, but this is June 20, right at the beginning of the summer, and the trail was so badly overgrown on the east side of the park, that it was a huge chore to get through it. It was more like walking through a jungle, with the amount of tall grass and blackberry vines completely covering 90% of the east side. I got scratched up terribly and filthy from all the grass debris, not to mention you couldn’t even see the ground where you were walking, so a couple time I lost my footing. Trails very badly need to be trimmed...I hope it gets done soon, or I will stop coming here. I would not recommend it to anyone in the shape it is in right now.
Met a group of moms for a little hike with the kids today. We parked in the last small parking lot before the entrance. Within about 30 minutes, two of the four moms cars had shattered windows. There was already glass all over the parking lot when we arrived, so this seems to be at least a recent pattern. Be careful!
Went here for a flat hike with my husband! The only two downsides are that you gave to walk a bit to get to it from the parking area and some areas are a little overgrown meaning you need to watch out for brambles. Other than that, its an absolutely beautiful hike. Take your binoculars to look for birds and other wildlife! Youll be happy you did!
Gorgeous winter afternoon with bald eagle and hawk sightings
2 immature bald eagles and waterfowl
Not tiny kid friendly. And definitely no strollers. Wear long sleeves and pants to ward off scratches from the thorny path and use bug spray. Beautiful scenery.
This is a good beginners hike. Not a long hike or much of an incline. During the winter months you get a great view of the snow capped mountains. Only down fall is the sewage plant right there.
Lovely walk in the morning fog.
Great quiet retreat right in my backyard
Off dog park
Lots of ducks.
Not a very busy place to take a walk
Perfect trails and a good get away from people. Great place to walk your dog too!
Nice views. Trail was overgrown and thorny with fair amount of mosquitos in late June. Recommend wearing long pants and possibly long sleeves to keep thorns and mosquitos at bay. Some parts of the trail were covered in vegetation and a little difficult to follow. Overall a good hike.
Nice place to relax and take photos
Its a nice little hike close to the city its paved but you do have to walk by the poop plant but if you just want to get out and get some fresh air its great
Great place for ducks
Stopped here for a pit stop to stretch the legs from a long drive back from whistler canada. First its next to a water treatment plant -which smells. It has well maintained gravel walkways. You can see the mountain easily but besides that the scenery looks like a swamp. Might be good dog walk for the locals but if ur a tourist dont stop here-not worth it.
Very rustic considering its in the middle of Poop Lakes
Beautiful scenery, clean, nice easy walking paths
There is always something new to see
Flat gravel trails above wetlands with a big open sky veiw! This is a very easy and scenic loop to walk.
It sucks
Birds galore, dog walking paradise, lots of fun
Full spectrum of nature can be seen here
