A cool place to visit after returning my library books. Before ( The Pandemic times.( My favorite walk through Lincoln Square to get to this park. Just to see the turning of the leaves. Bring a book, find a spot on the many metal park benches to read a book. People watching. To take pictures of the flowers, trees, my favorite Squirrels. Or just to get out for some exercise. Walk or run. Parents have kids on their bikes or kiddy 3- wheeled scooters. Are everywhere I walk, I have seen folks on rollerblades, rollerskating, single rolling wheel with a board on top. Also,a few skateboarders. Folks enjoying their ways of getting around.
We went to go see the Tea Garden, but ended up walking down to the boat dock. We were lamenting that St. Louis could have something as beautiful but not have the views here. We climbed to the top of Strawberry hill and took in the view. An interesting view of the bridge from the top. Very quiet and peaceful here. I think we could have spent many days of our stay here taking in the beauty of the park
I forgot how much I love this park. Its so well situated & has so many amenities. Nice to see so many people enjoying it in a warm afternoon in October.
Cute park! Bigger then it looks on the map. Easy street parking. Cute nature conservation project along the south side of the park.
Very active, plenty of space for privacy or social distancing. East side mostly baseball fields, middle tennis courts and field house.. indoor pool - unsure if open or not currently to the public, west side picnic area. For the most part clean/ ground around benches along Western Ave. need to be picked up. Most people wearing masks.
Went to the Midnight Circus performance which was fun and well thought through from a covid safety perspective. Park typically hosts music in summer as well as Shakespeare on the Parks. Has a traditional playground and a natural play space.
Welles park is one of my favorite Northside of chicago parks. There is an indoor pool, many baseball fields, a playground, and nature area all right next to Lincoln square
Nice playground space, baseball diamonds and field space for soccer or football. Staff is friendly and the indoor pool is nice. Good location for lunch, dinner or snack options with the great restaurants in the area.
Welles Park is such a great little park in Ravenswood. They’ve made a lot of changes lately, but it’s still a great one to walk to and through if you live in the area. I’ve never used the rec center, but it’s nice that it’s available to folks in the neighborhood. I wouldn’t go out of my way to drive here, but it’s worth a walk if you’re in the neighborhood.
Nice park, effort made to create prairie wild flower areas, nice spaces for children, bacci ball players were great to watch, pleasant to walk thru the different parts of the park, etc.
Good neighborhood clean park swings walking trail logs also great people
Sadly, I had to record volunteers pressuring voters in line to vote for Biden and re-elect Kim foxx. Some of the volunteers were looking over while people submitted ballots. Keep it fair and LEGAL!
Beautiful park which is full of wonderful activities year-round!
Great park for families and fun. 10/10 will return.
Well used and open. Great restaurant near by.
Beautiful evening: lots of people enjoying the park, kids, puppies, ice cream man and the cool guy with a guitar.
Huge park with a great playground and splash pad. My kids love it here.
The nature play area is fantastic and very creatively set up
Welles Park was a pleasant surprise. I was surprised to see the garden pathways and how nature was used to entertain, especially the kids.
Still one of the most beautiful parks. Nice to just pause & enjoy the weather & talent all around...
Beautiful place to share friendships!
A lovely place to picnic with food picked up from any of several nearby restaurant.
Wonderful family and pet-friendly park to experience nature in an urban setting, visit with friends! Coffee shops, restaurants and a gourmet convenience store within a few blocks.
Nice small park to go for a walk.
I always like wells park. So much for the kids to do and they can really spread out.
Came here for my granddaughters baseball game. Nice place
Delightful shaded respite on a steamy summer day ️
Very Quiet for a Holiday weekend. Very well kept
One of the better parks in the area. Welles park is always bustling on weekends with baseball and softball games. The playground is fun and clean, and the nature area is really cool.
Big park, great playground and plenty of grass for a picnic
Great place for kids when its open
One of the best youth football programs in Chicago!
Many great improvements compared to when I went there as a kid.
Love this park. When the weather is tolerable, we can walk there and the playground is expansive and diverse in its equipment.Too, there is a lovely nature-based area with tree stumps to climb on. My kids really love this part. The classes offered are also varied and of high quality. I highly recommend the parent/kid yoga class.
It was very nice I like the pubic library in front of it
Such a wonderful park, never too crowded and thankfully clean
Beautiful place to spend time watching softball games!
Theres some black squirrels living here, they look like little ninjas, which is so freaking cute!
This was so much fun to go to with my niece! Shes 6, and had a blast! It was easy to keep an eye on her while she played, and there were plenty of things for her to play on
Dont play on the most eastern situated court. The ground underneath has risen somehow and its tilted at both ends. Which makes you run uphill to a drop shot. Freaky unless youre a fitness buff
Chill af. People were playing baseball, almost got hit a few times, other than that it’s a dope park.
Great park with lots of space. I like to go here to exercise when the weather is nice. Plenty of room to move about and be active.
I enjoy coming to the fitness center for a run on cold days. Its not fancy, but the people working at Welles are nice and they have exactly what I need to get a good workout in!
Lots of activity. A sense of the neighborhood. Just dont stay too late. We were encroached by a gang of skateboarders feeling they had a right to take over the space we were using. We eventually left.
Nice playground, beautiful arrangements!
One of my favorite parks in the city. The gazebo is beautiful. Very family oriented area and dog friendly.
Great picnic spot!
This is one of my sons and I favorite park. We have been going here for years. Is very calm for a walk or the kids to play around. I totally love the new upgrade.
I had a small work event here during the day where we made sandwiches and did communication exercises. I wish there were more picnic tables, as we didnt bring a blanket and had to hangout near a bench near the edge of the park. It was quiet except for some road noise and kind of clean. Would picnic here again in the summer afternoon
Great playground for kids!
Played chess. Clean park
A fun park for the kids.
Nice neighborhood park !
Nice park with great facilities
I joined for the fitness center, the front desk people are nice enough however it doesnt feel as if they are secure in their duties, its been week 2 of a month long membership and Im just today getting a call from someone regarding my orientation to the machines available. 22 bux a month Im grateful for the equipment, but you definitely get what you pay for.
Parking can be a pain; take the brown line or bus to avoid a headache. Lots of open space with sun and shade. Fun events at the gazebo. Little league field open to public when games arent happening. Adjacent to park district rec center. Space for grilling/picnicking or setting up a volleyball net. Even fun for romping in the snow in winter. Plethora of nearby restaurants, bars, shops.
It is has good grass
Great public park to chill
A few blocks of increasingly quiet park space with nice benches, verdant greenery offering shade through the summer and last I checked, an indoor pool. Nearby a library and many other places ideal for making an afternoon in the park reading on a park bench. Whether it be those books from the library, or some comics from Da Sorce, just a little south on Lincoln - makes a perfect afternoon for me here.
Community public park with indoor gym, pool and basketball. Summer events at gazebo include music and drama (Shakespeare in the park) and virus (Midnight circus) that is very popular with families.
Neighborhood hangout, highly utilised
We play baseball and the place has beautiful grass and the fields are really clean. Unlike legion, it has inside bathrooms, a pool, like 10 fields and great dugouts. In other words, It’s the best park ever.
The Chicago Park District is amazing and this is a great park which includes a pool and is right across from a public library.
We love the two parts in this park- the nature zone on the southwest side and the swings and climbing area on the north west side. Its perfect!
You have to go to Lizzie J new restaurant at 2205 W. Montrose / Lincoln. The food is really good!
Love this park we have been taking our kids here for over 11 years. The only thing lacking is a dog park! Get rid of the old horseshoe toss area and make a small dog park and this park would have everything!
Welles is a great park. There seems to be opportunities for any activity. It has a pool, gym, small fitness room, baseball diamonds and a play area among other facilities. The park always seems to be full of people playing or watching their kids play.
A wanderful place for children.
Ever since they got the spinning tower & rope climb area its changed the playground game. Amazing.
Its like being in college quad!
Big prk for family
Nice clean park!
Great park. Great events can be seen here, you can play tennis, swim, play at the park, play baseball, or simply relax. This is one of the best parks in Chicago.
Miss the old Welles park from the 70S, but my kids love the new one .
I went there to vote early today, lines not too long and the workers there made it run very smoothly, nice job! I was in and out in under 20 minutes...
Nice place to exercise
The best of urban parks and children screaming with playful delight.
Everything was great
Beautiful park. Peaceful this morning. Lots of places to sit and soak in a bit of nature. Very damp unfortunately.
The trees! The grass! The jumbo gazebo! A playground and a natural play area. An indoor pool with glass walls for natural sunshine. Baseball diamonds. A big open field for whatever. Wells Park has it all! Plus, its right across the street from Sultzer Regional Library, and down the block from Old Town School of Folk music and historic Lincoln Square. What are you waiting for?!?
Saw Shakespere in the park here. Park not too small or big. Friendly atmosphere. Families picnicking on a warm summer day. Beautiful acretechure to look at!
Okay- Covid blues!
The pool in this park is so nice. Clean, big. You can get a lot of fun here
Gr8 seniors water aerobics!
Pleasant, as far as parks go. Replete with the necessary elements of a park, such as grass, trees, a gazebo, and squirrels. Moreover, this park even features a play area for children. My greatest concern lies in the seating. Unfortunately, the benches proved to be surprisingly uncomfortable.
My children are loving.the park.with splash pool that kkds to eat
Huge open playful amusing and wonderful
Large park with two playground areas, baseball diamonds, a beautiful gazebo and a park district building with an indoor pool, gym and fitness center.
Cute park, has a cool nature area with stuff to climb on.
