Despite freezing temperatures, we had a fantastic time. Our tour guide was energetic, exciting, and passionate. Having grown up in Chicago, it was fun to learn new things about my city. One of the best parts was how Eric got the audience involved reenacting events. The tour stopped at the Congress Hotel with some ghost stories.
First time on any Chicago bus tour for me, eventhough I live here. Loved Weird Chicago Tour Devil in the White City. The bus was comfortable and clean. The best part was our tour guide Eric, he was energetic, funny and so educated. He is truly passionate about his knowledge of Chicago history and the story of The 1893 worlds fair and its many underlying secrets...
Everything I expected from a tour with the name Weird in their title. The tour had ghost stories, true stories, made-up stories (which Tour Guide Kevin later admitted was just him kidding around), and even a heartwarming story. You will be getting out of the bus and standing outside for a few minutes at each stop on the tour so dress for the weather. There is 1 restroom stop during the tour. Use the restroom at McDonalds (where they pick you up) before the tour.* Some people on the review section are whining about the tour... What did they EXPECT from a Weird tour? Cmon, people! Get it together! LOL!!
The tour was awful. Our guides about half an hour talking about the Iriquios theater fire and didnt mention a single ghost. We hung out in the lobby of the Congress Hotel for an amount of time that seemed never-ending, then she went all-in on room 441 for about an hour. She spent about 20 minutes bragging that her granny was one of Al Capones horizontal employees. Good grief, by the time Ithe tour was half way over, I wanted to fling myself off the bus .
Took Devil in the White City tour. Very informative for someone who never researched H H Holmes not so much for anyone whos seen a documentary or two. However, even for those who know it all there are stops on the tour that pepper in other fun historical bits. Good way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
My wife and I have been on every historical tour - including the haunted ones - that we could find. There are some good ones out there (and bad ones like Chicago haunted tours). This is one of the good ones!
Ghosts, gangsters, and Chicago history! I have enjoyed the bus tours (devil in the white city, gangster, & haunted history) and the shorter walking tour. I love the Congress hotel, and I also loved going to real former speak easy Simon’s in Andersonville. So fun! The Japanese gardens are beautiful. The guides are informative and funny and take you to interesting and unique places. Great for both visitors and Chicago’s own, I always have a good time!
Best historical tour in town. They do their research and dont tell you the made up stories that were blindly accepted for decades. They have dynamic, fun tour guides. Every tour that they offer is well worth the price.
My girlfriend and I attended the June 15th, 2019 True Crime Chicago tour. I dont remember the tour guides name, but Im uncertain if I ever knew it. We planned our entire day around this tour and used it as a building block for our day. We were seriously looking forward to this true crime tour. To begin with, the tour is aptly named. The truest crime here, is the cost. We paid 84 dollars with the expectation of a great orator and a story that would leave us chilled to the bone. What we instead got, was a woman with all the charisma of a broken mirror. She lacked basic communication skills and frequently was side tracked when speaking. She jumped straight into a story and then immediately out of it and into random Chicago history. There was no transition or any possible reason for pausing one story to start another. It was impossible to follow and at one point she even mixed up a few of the subjects names. When we got to the first site, we didnt even stop. We started passing this house and she said Oh, on the right side youll see the house of Bobby Franks. Numerous guests were questioning which house housed this poor little boys soul as there was no warning as it vanished in the rearview mirror. By the time we got to the next stop, we didnt even know what story was being told. This time, the bus did actually come to a stop for us to get out and see. Imagine the storytelling skills when only half of the bus wanted to get out and walk around the corner with this woman to see whatever it is she wanted to show us. With only 2.5 days to spend in Chicago, we decided to end our suffering that was this garbage tour. We got off with the few other tour members, but when the bus filled back up we were no where to be found. I know we werent the only ones dissatisfied with our time, as numerous people on the bus were on their phones taking selfies on Snapchat and even one woman on Pokemon Go. We would have had a better time stopping at the nearby Best Buy and bringing up the Wikipedia page of different Chicago crimes. Now I know what youre thinking. Perhaps this tour guide was just beginning her career. She has supposedly been doing this for over a year. When we were reading reviews, we saw glowing remarks about these tours. We are pretty chill people and easy to please. This is by far the worst tour we have ever been on. Please save your money and consider other amazing things that Chicago has to offer like the American Writers Museum, Planetarium, Millennium Park, or even just the local Best Buy.
Informative and entertaining tour. Will definitely book again!
My Husband and I went on the Haunted Chicago Tour on 09/30/2017 with Crystal as our tour guide. We went to 5 locations in 3 hours. The tour was not scary at all and I found the information really lacking. We spent a lot of time standing around in the Congress Hotel where the tour guide told us that she had so many stories she could only pick three. I would have liked to hear much more information. Instead we just waited in the lobby for her to tell us it was time to go. It was annoying. At the end of the tour, the tour guide made a statement about tips not being required, but always appreciated which I thought was rude. We finished the tour disappointed and will probably seek out another company for future tours.
My daughter and I went on the Weird Chicago tour on 9/15/18 and enjoyed it very much. The guide, Kevin, was fantastic and very funny. We highly recommend experiencing it!
70% driving on the bus with no narration by the guide despite a functioning overhead announment system. 30 % Guide narration at the site. My first time visiting Downtown Chicago and would have loved just a basic narration on places we drove past. I took a haunted history tour in New Orleans a month ago and the Guide narrated while we drove and pointed out areas of interest. This tour was drive drive drive get out. Chunk of info drive drive drive drive repeat. It would have really helped if crystal would have announced where we headed to next then announce it once we got there instead of starting a 10 minute story without ever giving a basic site name to pique our interest.
I have taken two different tours and they were both very entertaining and informative. This is not a cheap tourist trap. The tour guides are very well informed and know a lot about the history they are describing and bringing to life.
Booked a tour and they text us the day before and had to cancel due to bus broke down.. They offeref a different day or a refund.. We requested a refund.. We have made several phone calls, text messages and even emails. Its been 2 weeks and we have gotten no reply or no refund.. Bad business ethics. Will not book another trip through them. Only gave them one star because I had to to post this.
I just took the Red Light District Tour this past Friday. The bus was a coach limousine which was very comfortable to ride in for the adventure. The bus driver was awesome! For those that are not sexperts, the tour presents a lot of shock value and sex education to make you a overall better lover. Additionally, the tour guide provides plenty of entertainment: raunchy jokes, stories of Chicagos historical involvement in the sex trade, and sex toy demonstrations. This is a great exploration for those that want to explore sex in numerous capacities- great for novices. An improvement would be to offer more historical information on the Chicagos sex culture and adult entertainment industry. Additionally, offer more points of interests for sexperts and people that have explored sex a bit more than others. Overall, great tour!!
Way too long, unnecessary time on the bus, a couple of interesting stories but they dragged on and on. This tour should be an hour or two tops, not three. It was really disappointing the night before Halloween. The tour guide was well memorized but didnt seem knowledgeable. She didnt read the crowd well--nobody seemed interested. Other than the hotel and river stops, nothing was interesting about the physical locations we visited. I would not recommend this tour at all. Waste of three hours in Chicago!
Knowledgeable tour guide and fun Saturday night of spookiness!
I went on the Crime Tour, and it literally consisted of Heres a park, Heres a parking lot, and Heres a shady area beneath a busy bridge. I had high hopes for this tour and they really let me down hard. My tour guide was Eric, and his facts were filled with fluff. A lot of the information was repetitive and the rest was just unnecessary and awkward eye contact. Perhaps the other themed tours are better, but the Crime Tour is severely lacking. Save your money and do something else!
Definitely a big waste of time. The tour guide showed up early to let us know that the bus broke down and would arrive a little later than expected. Half an hour later, a SCHOOL BUS shows up. Despite starting late, we still ended on time. Stories arent extremely interesting and the trip wasnt worth the price I paid. Everything the guide said was repetitive and it just wasnt worth it overall. Really drawn out.
Not worth the time or your money! Spent theee hours listening to stories we could have read online!
We were unable to find a tour guide, and if it was cancelled we were not informed. The place we would find the tour guide per the email is under construction. No signs or anything. That is unfortunate because of the expense and also we were really looking forward to this.
I enjoyed it and got great pictures
Awesome tours!!!
