Interesting sculpture. It was blocked off due to some festival going on (which was not open yet as we arrived in the morning). One of the guards was nice enough to point out Miros statue across the street.

Heard about this ‘Untitled By Picasso’ which quietly guards the Chicago loop -while reading Mike Royko’s ‘One more time- The best of Mike Royko’. His interpretation of this sculpture was so interesting that I had to see this sculpture. Marking the cultural rebirth of Chicago, the sculpture was a gift from Pablo Picasso and was unveiled in 1967. Artist Picasso himself never interpreted this sculpture, making this art work interesting. Every year the annual Christkindlmarkt is guarded by this Picasso sculpture.

The area of this iconic sculpture is in downtown Chicago,Il. You can feel the history as you stand in front of it. There is a huge plaza where you can sit down and there is a small water feature. Its located across the street from block 37 which has a nice mall with restaurants and even a movie theater.

Well named! I did a walking tour - and the guide told us to look at the sculpture from behind in order to see the outline of a womans face, which was very cool. I could tell it was a Picasso the moment I saw it.. so certainly iconic!

A fantastic public work of art by the noted creator, Pablo Picasso. An imposing, but interesting sculpture, located very centrally in the city, right outside Macys and Block 37.Not often crowded, its easy to come and take in the view and have a wee think. The square in which the sculpture stands also hosts the Christkindlmarkt in Chicago every year. During the citys frequent cold spells, you can also spot pigeons huddling around the braziers that punctuate the square...

What an unusual and abstract sculpture this Picasso is! I was with a group of 8 and not one of us thought it represented the same animal. Maybe its not supposed to be an animal at all! The sculpture stands tall in the square, and festivals, markets, and events are often held around it. Its free to walk up to it, touch it, play around on it and take plenty of selfies I thought it was a pegasus, but maybe a baboon? Take your guess, theres no wrong answer!

Pablo Picasso was approached by architect William Hartmann on behalf of the city of Chicago. William Hartmann befriended Picasso with a series of Chicago gifts. And as a result this friendship Picasso REFUSED payment for the commissioned art. That the city of Chicago had requested. The Untitled Picasso stands 50 feet in height and is located at the Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago.

Cool giant sculpture in the heart of Chicago. Another fine example of large scale public art in the city. Head to the art institute to see small models of this work. Dont go during the Christmas market that fills the square if you want to get a good look at the statue. Dont miss the other statues scattered around the area.

One of many things that makes Chicago great. Very nice and synonymous with our Great city. I was just saying that The Chi is like no other place. We have so much that a person can do. You can accidentally walk past, what people take trips to see. MY KIND OF TOWN, CHICAGO IS.

The Chicago Picasso (often just The Picasso) is an untitled monumental sculpture by Pablo Picasso in Chicago, Illinois. The sculpture, dedicated on August 15, 1967, in Daley Plaza in the Chicago Loop, is 50 feet (15.2 m) tall and weighs 162 short tons (147 t).[The Cubist sculpture by Picasso was the first such major public artwork in Downtown Chicago, and has become a well-known landmark. It is known for its inviting jungle gym-like characteristics.Visitors to Daley Plaza can often be seen climbing on and sliding down the base of the sculpture. Cool thing

One of the coolest sculptures in Chicago. What this untitled sculpture, lovingly referred to by locals as The Picasso, depicts is highly debated. Some say it was inspired by Picassos lover, some think it is an angel, or even an Afghan hound dog. Picasso never actually explained what it was meant to represent, but it remains a monumental and influential sculpture influencing many great artists and adding to the beautiful public art landscape of Chicago.

So as modern art and metal sculpture go, this is an interesting piece to see. One little boy was heard to ask his dad, Is that a bird? I thought that the youngling nailed it fairly well and his dad gave an affirming response also. I dont know that it tanks highly enough for me to travel many many miles out of my way to see it, but as we walked the opposite river shore, it was an enjoyable sight along the river walk.

The last Friday of every month is when cyclists meet up here for Critical Mass Chicago. Critical Mass is a good way of joining a group ride that will watch out for you, move at a good pace, and show you the city in ways youd never expect. Normally the folks start showing up around 530 and the ride rolls out between 6/630Chicago has a lot of group bike rides but generally this is the biggest one that goes year round. Weve done some where The Route was less aggressive, but many involve taking the streets on very main streets.

Your guess is as good as mine when it comes to describing what this sculpture is but use the base of this sculpture to slide down it! You have to slide down it- AT LEAST ONCE! Dont feel youre too old or too mature because that mentality ages you and robs you of living your life to the fullest! And while youre there, go check out the eternal flame that honors troops! Its just feet away from the sculpture enclosed in a metal fence to keep people from stepping/falling into it.* Dont mind the bums! Theyre always hanging out in downtown Chicago looking for people who are willing to give them money.
